I use WETA which I guess is a modified debloated stock. Get to keep the stock lg camera and second screen. Have magisk and xposed working too.
Although I'm probably switching to a AOSP rom like Resurrection once the 2nd screen api is more stable to implement.
Missing the smoothness and customizations from my 6p ROMs without having to a use a bunch of xposed modules.

Version 87 api 24. Haven't tried the systemless one so my safetynet fails.

[Q] I want to go custom, should I go xposed or cm12?

As the question says, I want one or the other, on lollipop. I want it to be stable. Most of the features in gravity box are also in cm12 so it has peaked my interest. What do yall think?

go with stock xposed if you want stable. i am using it and for the few days i have gravity box/xposed everything works like a charm. cm has a higher chance of random reboots, without saying it is not stable (i didn't try it)
Why not just grab a well-crafted ROM instead of those half-assed attempts such as gravitybox and CM?
I'm running Euphoria and it's been pretty much flawless, with a couple xposed modules running as well. A custom ROM installation doesn't necessarily preclude a bit of xposed micromanagement.
Im a quite few day on CM its stable for me atm

there's no such thing as a "well-crafted ROM",it's still AOSP when you rid of all the facelifting and the fancy features. i've no special education for android devices, but i've used well over 20 different ROMs with the same kernel for different devices and all of them looked and felt the same. i never understood why people empathize that only ROMs make the difference.
I see your point and I agree, in fact I was just suggesting to stay away from CM and GravityBox. I wasn't looking for differences between AOSP ROMs as I've tried my fair share as well and even if they're not that different they're always more reliable than a CM eternal-nightly or an ugly xposed patchwork.
I recommend CyanogenMod - more features .
You have custom recovery, no? Make a nandroid, then try both and decide for yourself.

Why would anyone use 4.4.4 or 5.1.1 when we have 6.0.1 and 7.1.1?

Honest question here as I really don't get it.
I see a lot of people requesting and asking for ROMS that use older androids.
why use older ones when we have new ones ?
Becouse some devices like my ****ty 2014819 get's random reboots and overheats in those roms....
Some time old is gold...bro.
its not about 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 or 7.1.1 it is only about miui and aosp.. Those who like miui would tend to stick to it even if it is based upon 5.1.1.. Personally me, i am using 6.0.1 bcz xposed is not available for nougat.. The day it is available i would be happy to shift to nougat builds
RAM, buddy.
Using Xiaomi.eu's MIUI 8 KK and Premaca's kernel I have a bit less than half RAM free in my 1GB Redmi 2. Without lags, overheat or anything bad.
The answer is Speed, I prefer a little older Android if the experience is smooth.
ask me...... i'm on xiaomi.eu miui with cosmos kernel, why? because the most stable mm roms(du and htc remix, by experience) dont support cameras on otg - a feature that is pretty vital to me, a bug that was never fixed. and why not nougat, well that's because I'm waiting for xposed to come to nougat.... point being, people have their reasons for sticking to outdated android.

Dirty unicorns is a nice option. Also checkout the GZR validus and tipsy. Which validus right now is my daily driver. I had to use the camera to take pictures of my house because I'm selling it and they look superb. 4k video works also. RN dirty unicorns audio has been fixed so if listening to music and such is really important try dirty unicorns since the audio in other ROMs aren't the best RN.

All of them are caf based. And the tipsy ROM from GZR in the Android development menu for this device is slim based, which basically is just aosp.
Are the camera, Bluetooth, and cellular connectivity all rock solid (comparable to stock) on the latest DU official? How about battery life?

Do you know what SuperSU and magisk are? If not you can look either one up. My favorite is magisk because you can pass safety net and you can use Android pay, play Mario run, Pokemon go and the such. If you need help just ask. Look up magisk v12. It's the latest version and once you flash that and you boot up, download magisk manager from the play store. Or update it. And you'll be all set.

In my opinion magisk is better. It's basically having root and all apps don't know you have root basically. The magisk hide setting in the magisk manager settings does that and you can even use Snapchat haha. But yeah I don't use superSU anymore. Just magisk. It's more of a personal preference. If you want to use apps that don't allow you to use them because you have root. Use magisk. If you don't care about that stuff. Then stick with superSU.

If you want a normal stock like ROM that's purely based on aosp, go to androidfilehost.com and search Clark. And go through the pages until you find Omni ROM 7.1.2. It's also a pretty good and stable ROM which I'm pretty sure the camera works fine with recording.

Battery life I would say the validus ROM has been giving me some good battery life. Tipsy I would maybe put on top. It's between validus and tipsy. Omni ROM also has good battery life. The standby is the bets on tipsy and Omni ROM. Dirty unicorns I would say is one of the best performing of the bunch, tipsy is very smooth also. Dirty uncirons hasn't really been giving me great battery life but it's been avg. Your usage may vary.

Most feature Rich OOS ROM

What Stock OOS based ROM has the most features and options? I've been running AOSP based ROM's because I prefer the UI and customization they offer, but I'm having radio issues on them for some reason, so, thought I'd try out an OOS ROM. I like as many options and features as I can get so which is the best to try?
I think xXx has lots but I'm personally running Renovate ICE and it's been awesome!
I use xXx and Renovate together and has been perfect for me

xXx, FrancoKernel and Magisk modules for me. The only thing I miss is full OMS support although it does work fine just not as convenient. I don't need AOD as my phone's in my pocket most of the day. Working GPay and FP is a bonus.

So Renovate is just an add-on to a base ROM? Can it be flashed over any stock based OOS ROM? Also, does Substratum work good on the OOS ROM's?

Renovate and xxx are magisk module roms. On rooted stock substratum works fine with the renovate rom module on subtratum changes etc do not happen or function properly. If using renovate I would do swift installer and make sure you also get the swift module from the one plus 6 themes area. Me I use stock rooted with edexposed and swift installer

Stock vs Custom rom

I was thinking of switching to a custom rom (Mainly RR or POSP), but I don't know if I should install a custom rom on 6T.
Any thoughts?

Stock or Stock Beta with EdXposed and some Magisk modules.
Let's you do almost anything you can with a custom ROM.
Until recently custom ROMs didn't support the FP scanner.

I tried EdXposed and it is unstable AF and magisk modules just fix some annoyances.
If you are on Verizon, as of now 4-23-19, no custom ROM appears to support MMS. Except for Havoc, and even then, crappy picture quality has been reported.
So I'm going to go back to oos9013. Which is a major pain in the butt because I have to format my internal SD and use a USB drive to revert to the March security patch...

Interesting.
I'm using TWRP 3.3.0, Beta 8, Magisk 19, ElementalX 3.15, Riu Core and Riu EdXposed 0.3.1.2 and my phone is very stable.
I'm also using Nova Prime as my launcher.
I get 0 force closes. No random reboots.
Currently my phone has been up for 2 days and 10 hours.
My phone only reboots only when I manually reboot.

I was (and still probably am) a ROM flashaholic, but for the first time I've been very happy with stock OOS.
I may install a custom ROM in the future (probably Omni or Havoc) but users always seem to report some bug, whether it's big or small.
I haven't had any issues on OOS so I could very well end up sticking with it. Only downside is having to reboot to see Substratum overlays, but no where near a deal breaker.

Nope! And this is coming from a retired ROM Dev. I would keep stock and root it. If I were to make a no nonsense ROM it would be pretty identical to the stock ROM.
And this is not a dis to any ROM Dev either.

No for real, is that still being used? I live in the Netherlands. Nobody uses that anymore since there are much better apps for that nowadays....
I'd rather keep the OEM developers of the phone updating my stable stock firmware well over some stranger online that does it as a hobby.
Pros and cons of custom rom on 6T
Pros:
- Slight interface change (OOS is very similar to AOSP)
- AOD
- Volume rocker music controls
- UI customization
Cons:
- Jagged rounded corners. OOS has a slight border that's smooths the corners/notch. Every custom rom does not have this and will leave you with choppy corners on the screen.
- FP reader isn't as good. It just hit custom roms and is buggy
- AOSP gestures are 100x worse than OOS
- Only a couple of stable roms. If you want a feature packed rom it will be unstable. If you want a stable rom it will only have 1 feature. There really isn't an in between rom.
I would stay on OOS. Custom roms are slowly dying as stock systems have implemented all the old great custom rom features. You're basically adding a few things to your phone while sacrificing stability honestly.

Agreed with what he said. I'm perfectly content not changing ROMs.
Everything "works" on OOS.
Battery life is stout.
Volume Rocker can control music both with and without root (easier with) with simple app (Button Mapper). He's a dev on here.

Good luck having a working finger print reader on any custom ROM. I don't see the point of swapping out the ROM on this phone. I definitely see the points to root vs not root (despite initially not rooting this phone the first few months of ownership).
