Today received 128G - 4g RAM - need a little help - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I have bought the 128 gig storage - 4 gig RAM from china and it arrived today, need some help and have some questions here:
1. In "about phone - Model number" section it said ZTE A2017, No app drawer, No G or U after the model number, no google play store, I searched a little on the various models, it seems mine is Chinese, am I right?
2. Is it possible to unlock the bootloader/ root/ xposed for my device model ( Chinese)?
3. If the answer is yes, Can I flash G or U model to the device? or because of its possible band differences and 128 G storage instead of 64 G it will cause problems?
4. It has android version 6.01 , mifavor ZTE_A2017V1.0.0B07, it said I can update if to B13, size 711.75 mb, are the info and changelogs are in Chinese, I don't know is it Nougat or just a regular bug fixing update. anyone have the same device that could help me here? I read in previous mifavor roms it is possible to unlock the BL, Should I update now?
please check the attachments
Thank you in advance

This is a Chinese version of axon 7 (that's why you don't have G or U). As I know so far only this version have combination of 128GB/4GB.
There are development section for rooting unlocking - just jump there and read a loot of stuff.
Probably the whole process is nearly same as U and G model.
Also you might have Chinese recovery menu. I do not have Chinese version of axon 7 in my hand but I have few others Chinese exclusive phones and they have some type of Chinese language core.
And before update search that unlocking method work with B13.
Cheers

Pretty sure bands are set by hardware and are not changeable.

Read your post again and see you just want to flash other firmware. This is fine if you follow the twrp flashable firmware guide.

It seems bootloader of U models in previous firmware builds can be unlocked, seen it on youtube, I want to know if I do the same with my Chinese model it won't brick the device; hoped someone did this before, then I wanted to flash the G or U model on it, it would be so good if someone know if specific bands are limited in other models and they have all actual similar inside that could be useable in different models or some bands are really missed in different models and if not, maybe flash U firmware with Chinese model bands separately, confused here that I am only one trying to do that!
Chines recovery menu?! now I am :silly: now I am pissed why i did not think about it before
I think frimware numbers are different from U and Global models, last U model frimware is B29 and Chinese is B13, am I right? if that so I could not use the unlocking method on it
reasons that I order from China:
1. I don't live in US, I'm in middle east, even though I can get it with help of my brother who lives in US I have preferred not to bother him for purchasing and sending by post, tax...
2. when I decided to buy one, 128 G wasn't available in US
3. 64G is not enough for me especially with these VR programs and games sizes and yes I know I can expand with MicroSD but it's not adaptative and I always prefer more internal storage and it is UFS 2 and I want to use my 2sims on it.
4. this model cost me around 350 US$ (silver color), that's a good deal; this year BF the 64G model were 350$ , also 128+6 G is around 500 US$ and I think its not worth the 150 extra $.

You said bands are not changeable, but if I flash other models frimwares like U or G model if the bands weren't there it could cause problem.
another question is firmwares of the same models but with different storage ( 64/128G) or Ram (4/6G) are different?

[Q] Flash other region official rom on Chinese GN3

Hello guys,
I live in China and I'd like to buy a Note 3, therefore, there's only following versions available here: N9002/6/8/9
I used to have a Note 2, Chinese version too, which was impossible to flash through Samsung's standard tool and once I bruteforced the flash with other tools, I detroyed the phone (couldnt receive signal anymore and be recovered) because Samsung's phones in China have a different modems and bootloaders specific to China).
Currently, not so many custom firwmwares are available for the Note 3 but in the future, I'd like to use them. Knowing Chinese models might be different, do you know if I'll have the same issues as with my Note 2, meaning:
- not being able to flash other region firmwares (Chinese version doesnt have Play store and you cannot install anything like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or other famous foreign apps and that's ****ing annoying)
- not being able to flash custom roms for popular versions like N900 or N9005
Thanks
N9006 - Note3 - Chinese One
I've got my Note 3 - SM-N9006, couple weeks ago and try to root with Root de la Vega to get rid of the problems that you thought.
But failed now.
Trying to figure it out to bring the phone back.
So, think 2 more time to buy a Chinese Note 3.
Regards,
@op dont tinker too much.. Its possible to root without much hassle。。n9002 is the china unicom branded one/ n9006 is unbranded SD800 but 16gb/ n9008 is china mobile (keep in mind they have their own 3g band) / n9009 is china telecom(cdma)
@navalarcitect .. You forgot to to switch that "reactivation lock" to off in settings... Do that and try again...It would be succesful..
I've have had s2 s3 and s4 all made in china for the chinese markets rooted and using international firmwares enjoying all the google goodies china strips off.
For note 3 i went for exynos because it offers 32gb against the SD800 which is 16gb in China and HK.. Cheers
Buy the HK version at any of the phone markets of your choice
I think the short answer is DON'T BUY THE CHINA version, unless you have unlimited time to play/tinker with it in the hope that you might be able to internationalize it... Note tha 99% of the people making roms and modding the Chinese version are Chinese, who won't care about English/play store etc... so even if you do see ROMs most of them will be made for Chinese. Also, even if you do get it working, no more android updates for you...
The even shorter answer is, buy a HK version from any of the phone markets... In Shanghai there are many and they all have HK versions (often same price or cheaper than the China version as smuggled in without 5% import tax and 17% sales tax). You can tell pretty easy what model the phone is, and they're used to laowei (and many ABCs, etc.) wanting the international version.
What would be GREAT would be if the dual sim version was available in International. In the past it was only available as the China version. I really need a dual sim as I travel so much, but am just too scared/nervous and lacking in time and knowledge to buy the China version and try to root/internationalize....Am keeping an eye out for this, but not holding my breath as Samsung never did a dual sim N2 and you have to assume carriers hate them...
How can i go settings?

@hatnim, II'd like to buy my Note 3 with a subcription to reduce its price but 'd like to stay away from China Unicom as they have crap netwrok coverage, I moved to them 1 year ago to finally have 3G on my iphone but I really regret it. From what I understood the 3G Chinese network can also be used in other regions of the world can't it?
How did you manage to internationalize it since there is not yet a Chinese version of the SM-N9005? If you have a SM-N9002 or SM-N9008, they should not be compatible with international roms (at least that was not the case with Note 2, in my case, I had to purchase the N7100 Chinese version to be able to use it with internatiol roms).
Additional question: tt seems you have the Exynos version but it's still not out in China if I'm not wrong. Where did you get it?

Well subscription with china mobile is good but you cant use 3g or higher when outside china ..you would be stuck on 2g.. they have their own homemade 3g spectrum or something.. if that isnt a bother you can go for that.
The chinese version n9006(sd800) is different from the normal n9005.. to get playstore and other google stuffs stripped off , you would have to install the hk version or taiwan version(roms that start with zs)..hk/tw is not restricted like mainland..
Yeah i did buy exynos because the sd800(n9006) they were offering here was 16gb and had no lte compared to the n9005.. so i got the exynos 32gb for 600rmb cheaper and its from hk or other place..

+1 for your support Hatnim! I think I'll go for the international version. But one last question since you seem to know a lot about chinese band. Do you think if the International version will receive China Mobile's 3G and HSPA+ signal?
Btw, for how much did you pruchase your Exynos version?
I got it for aprox. 3550RMB online (i guess you know of taobao, .and here is the catch, if you have a chinese friend with CC you can have it on installment plan, like mine is roughly 310 x 12months)..
And sadly no to your other question.. China Mobiles 3G (TD-SCDMA) is home made and i havent heard of any other carrier using it... Your only bet would be Unicom which uses W-CDMA ...I know Unicom really sucks..
Note 3 is no problem!
Hi,
I have a N9002 for about 1 Week now and it´s working good!
It took me only about 3h to root, install Google apps including PlayStore, and the Nexus Keyboard to get more languages.
All you need you can find at XDA!
I took the N9002 because I need dual Sim AND need to run it all around Asia and Europe.
For the dual sim version you will find nearly no custom roms, but that´s not neccessary for root, Google Apps and Keyboard!
Only the China Unicom Version works in Europe and most Asian countries!!!!!
I don´t know why you had so much problems with the Note 2?
I had the Note 2 (also dual Sim version from China Unicom) for around one year and it worked perfect. Also rooted and injected Google Apps and Nexus keyboard.

Close to impossible with a Chinese phone, the Government mandates a locked bootloader where a major part of their surveillance mechanism is located, go to Hong Kong where the phones are open.

You can still root the device, will trigger knox, but if you're overseas it won't matter much. Once rooted, you can install Google apps, facebook and even youtube. I have done it on my 9002. Works fine. Gmail, Contacts, Calender and G+ to name a few.....oh yeah and Play Store, which works great, can select stuff on my pc and have it sent and installed on my Note 3 with NO PROBS!!
You can flash anything, you just have to be careful because there are 2 types of N3 out. One has 16gb and the other 32gb memory. This results in different size partitions for the different system directories. That's why so many people wind up with bricked phones.....technically it's because the PIT is different. (Partition Information Table).
As for the surveillance mech, I am skeptical that the Chinese Gov would mandate a locked bootloader, do you have any evidence?

Your phone KNOX is still 0x0... warranty not lost... take it to samsung , they will Jtag it and it will work.
Also if you have the original rom, .PIT, pda, phone,csc... you can flash through odin with repartition ticked... however your prevent reactivation means only Samsung...
BTW, you can buy 9005 and 900 in china through HK parallel export and vendors after some bargianing, would offer a 1 year store warranty... I have 1..

You can't update firmware to American version. What you can do is to "westernize" the Chinese firmware.
Follow this thread:

Hello guys,
I have a soft-bricked N9002 and I am trying to unbrick it.
I tried to upgrade to the latest official firmware, CHU-N9002ZNUENG4-20140805155712, Android 4.4.2, through Odin but I ticked "Nand Erase All", which I think was the mistake. The phone is now bootlooping to the China Unicom splashscreen, with the mentions "RECOVERY BOOTING...Set Warranty Bit: recovery" and then vibrating twice before bootlooping again.
I am not accustomed to Samsung phones, but from what I have read on the forum, I would need to flash a PIT file to re-partition the phone.
So my question is, does anyone have such PIT file, or where can I get it?
Thanks in advance!

Different hardware K3 Notes ??

I need to buy 2 more notes.. Mine was a K50-T5 china model. Overall I am happy with that now its on marshmallow and would replace with same
Looking on aliexpress theres K50-T5 and K50-T3 which is slightly cheaper but seems to have the same specs ??
Is the T3s inferior ?? Runs the same ROMs ??
Any ideas ??
I think, hardware is same. Only difference is in stock ROM, T3s has less LTE frequencies.
On ali, you can read: "Surprise!!!After we install Custom Firmware, after flash custmoized rom, K50 T5 and K50 T3s Have same network frequency". Somewhere else I read, that you can use same ROMs for both versions.
I'm going to order the T3s
if the hardware the same.. why is there such a price difference ??
Can anyone confirm if the stock ROMs for the T5 work the same on the T3 ?? I need to buy a few so the saving is helpful, but it must run the new 6.0 stock rom nicely.

I have the same doubt. Do you have any news?
I just bought 2 more T5 versions..
I need to set them up and leave them with employees.. I cant be worrying about if MM wont flash onto them for the 20 buck price difference.
To clarify : The hardware is exactly same apparenly, in aliexpress the sellers says they flashed a rom that allow all FDD LTE frequencies (they have screenshot of available frequencies).
But officially : T5 = Worldwide version with FDD LTE
T3S = China TD-LTE only.
Its the same sroty with Redmi Note 2 but officially they decided to include also FDD bands to allow users of China Mobile to use 4G when they travel overseas.
The only thing I still need to find out is that if flashing a T5 rom on T3S works (I'll try VIBE 3.1 tomorrow) or if the guys in aliexpress really use a special rom to make it work or if T3S rom actually has all FDD frequencies activated.
About price difference : Officially the T3S is only registred to be used on TD-LTE so they do not have to pay for FDD licenses. That's why all brands like Nubia XIaomi ... are cheaper in chinese version than worldwide.
Hello,
I m new user of t3S .
I registered to this forum, after reading this post.
I've wondered about this compatibility.
If it can help you, I've flashed (4 days ago) a custom rom (with vibeui/android 6.0 found on needrom) designed for the T50 on the "k3 note t3s" (Edit : without any modification) with success. I can't say for the 4G frequencies because i don't use them, but I didn't encounter any problem .
I have the t3s version from Ali Express too. I wonder what changes the seller made to the ROM.
The ROM is listed in the settings as VIBEUI_V3.0_1604_7.209.1_ST_K50-T3s
It's not listed on the XDA page of downloads.
Also, this ROM doesn't provide OTA updates.
But before flashing it, I think it would be a good idea to save the ROM as flashed by the seller. Just in case it doesn't work with this particular hardware. Also, I don't want to lose the 4G.
I'm not sure how to do that though.
Thanx Very Much

Chinese version does not support Google Play as of version B115

So I want to kind of start this discussion and work on a fix. Ideally a fix without root, if it's possible.
According to the Chinese forums, the Chinese version (which I'm getting because I want 128GB of storage) has been altered as of version B115 to not include the necessary GMS framework to allow installation of google services, play store, and so on.
Previous versions (some Chinese models shipped with B109) included the ability to load Google Services.
The first step in fixing this for people whose phones ship with more recent firmware is to find a full package of B109. The only other option will be bootloader unlock and flashing of either international firmware or google play services after unlocking the bootloader.
My phone will arrive here in Japan tomorrow, so I will work on reverse engineering the update server like I did with Mate 8, and keep everyone up to date with any progress. Does anyone else have plans to buy the Chinese version? Please feel free to chime in!
UPDATE!!
As of December, Huawei has released a package to install google services on the Mate 9. Simply search the HiApp store for GMS and get the first result.
Couldn't just install a international from through the update?
So your saying if I purchase this from a Chinese online mobile store I wont be able to get google play store on it im in need of a new phone so bad and wanted this

You will be able to get Google Play store on it IF your phone ships with version B109 or earlier. Apparently this is rare. Otherwise, you will not be able to without unlocking your bootloader, at this time. My phone is supposed to arrive today, so I will be a guinea pig and figure out what needs to be done, as obviously it's useless to me without Google Play.
I have bought Chinese huawei mate 9 too. And it doesn't have google. If anyone knows the solution please help

Good! We work together again, like the old days!
Do you have the international one now? Can you use wireshark and find out the http query from eRecovery to get the location to the latest firmware?
For example, you can get latest Mate 8 AL10 firmware like this:
Code:
curl -d '{"rules":{"D_version":"","DeviceName":"HUAWEI NXT-AL10","saleinfo":"||||||||N","IMEI":"","FingerPrint":"","FirmWare":"HUAWEI NXT-AL10-all-cn","IMSI":"","C_version":"","OS":"","HotaVersion":"e.0.1","Language":"","devicetoken":"","PackageType":"full"}}' http://query.hicloud.com:80/sp_ard_common/v2/Check.action?latest=True

No problem to have roms location (like mate 8 times) but I must wait mate 9 chinese version (international one can send me tomorrow)

The pleasure is mine!
I also bought same version. Do you currently have European version in your hands? I think it might be possible to use some tricks to write European firmware onto Chinese version.

Now this is very confusing. I ordered the 4/64GB version from aliexpress. All of the descriptions (of all sellers) on ali clearly highlights all the network features and bands that are only supported by the european model of Mate9, called "MHA-L29". Huawei's official specs clearly say MHA-L29 is dual-sim supported and MHA-L09 (=chinese version) is not.
I asked the seller and after 3-4 questions he finally replied it's the chinese version (of course) but tried to convince me that it will work with google play because every huawei phone they sell can work with play.
I can't risk it to have a phone that I have to mod to use play, and I can't expect the firmware updates easily without any problem/risk.
I cancelled the order, asked a few other sellers they all have the chinese version. It seems I can't get the european version with a lower price I have to wait till the phone launches here, and it will be much more expensive.
What is your opinion how difficult will it be to update the firmware with sufficient google services by tricks on the chinese models? Would you recommend it to a noob like me(I unlocked bootloaders and stuff but I can only follow specific directions) to have the chinese model backed by a worthless warranty?

Chinese version is not MHA-L09. It's MHA-AL00.

I think it will be possible to do with specific directions, probably within a month -- hopefully sooner. I also think it's possible that Huawei re-introduces the ability to install Google services into a future update, because the outcry from the Chinese community is huge.
Once I find the way to do it, I will make as easy-to-follow guide as I can, but I can't promise anything! It might be very difficult if it's too different from the Mate 8.
My advice to you is to wait until a solution has been found before buying the Chinese version.

Thanks, I'm gonna wait a little more then. I cancelled my order before shipment so they must refund me without any problem. There will be a 130-150 USD difference comparing the chinese version to prices in my country. I'm hesitating to either wait for this phone or buy the OnePlus 3T on the 28th of november, but I really like the Mate9.
A best solution could be to completely trasform chinese into european. With european rom, european modem and other features like sar reduction : do you remember that mate 8 EU had a string "sar reduction yes" that in chinese there wasn't?
Do you think that is possibile to convert At 100% chinese in european? (with unlock bootloader)
We can work At this?

Customs delayed my phone's delivery to Monday, so I can't really say without looking at how it works, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't be possible to convert the Chinese version to the european one as long as we have an unlocked bootloader or root.

[SM-J5108] Convert my J5 SM-J5108 to a more usable version ? (510F ?)

Hello,
My title may not be very cler but I can't find any custom ROMs for my device the J5 SM-J5108CHM (J5 China Mobile version) I can find official firmware but I just hate the interface, I found a really good-looking ROM (VIperOS) but it was for another variant of the phone.
So my question is : can I convert this phone to some other variant with same specs ? Thanks in advance
I've got the same question but no one seems to go to this thread if anyone has an answer to this that would be very appreciated. the j5108 seems to have all the same specs as the other variants so it should work but I'm not taking any risks because this is my everyday phone.
also the china mobile os is complete rubbish use this one (im a new user so i cant post link but just search up updato (dot) com, go to search bar and search j5108, in teh filters bar up top choose hong kong and press update under the search bar)
First, install any lollipop update (if you skip straight to marshmallow you'll end up in a bootloop), and then install either OTA update (it keeps failing for people but its good if you don't want to use Odin again) or you can download the marshmallow os after you install lollipop (make sure to NOT do a factory reset etc you'll end up in a boot loop). Install MM os and boom GAPPS and everything else you'll need.

You can't. Its a different phone. Maybe you think because it says J5 chinese version that its the same thing, just different model number. There are reasons why ot has a different model number, baseband, etc... Its like you have the Samsung Galaxy S2 with exynos and the American one with SD. They are both S2, but totaly different phones.
does xda have a word cap or did my other post not post because it was long or is the image verification a post-verification. anyway, i was saying that all the j5 2016 variants are exactly the same which in theory would allow any model's OS to work on any variant. S2 isn't a great comparison because different models have different hardware while j5 2016 has different models with identical hardware. Just search up j5108 specs and j510x specs and they'll all be the same ill post back in a few weeks when I get a new battery and test out different OS (rn I'm using the stock hong kong OS). I'll try OS for different PDAs and then ill try out different models. Btw all the spec sites say the variants are compatible with Australia so I shouldn't have a problem using different models OS in Australia (meaning 4G, wifi, phone numbers etc should be fine).
Also please explain in more depth why j5 2016 variants are so different to the point that they have different model numbers (i know that sounds passive aggressive and pretend it isn't I honestly want to know). I'm super sorry if I sound like an arrogant **** that wants everything his way but the way the j5 2016 models are made they all seem identical and logically (and in theory) the other variants OS should work on the j5108. if for some reason I cant see my first reply but others can I'm so sorry for this post.

Phones today can have the same harware, same SoC, same RAM, same everything, even the same RIL preferences, but they are different models. The whole stock software was made for a specific device model. The J510FN is different than the J510H, if there was no difference why would Samsung bother to make many versions? The whole operating system, every part of it: Kernel, Apps, Recovery, Hal, Bootloader are mannualy made for a specific model number. Because of that it is hard to make a ROM that supports all of the phones in one Samsung model family lineup. You see now that by pure logic the j508 is very different from the J510FN

[HELP] Buying samsung s8 advice

Hello friends!
I'm considering upgrading to a SGS8 and before making a purchase I need your help confirming what I should look for if I want to have an unlocked bootloader in order to install whatever ROM I please ans be free from Samsung's tyrany.
Please tell me if im wrong or missing something here when looking for one of these on Amazon:
-Model: SM-G950F or SM-G950FD (This is because these models came to the market with the "OEM unlock" option under dev settings and they have an Exynos chip)
-Running stock Android Nougat 7.0
-Bootloader version: ??
Got it right? Thanks for your help!!!!

Nobody here will guarantee anything probably, and neither do I, but I'd say that what you wrote sounds good.
You can send it back within 30 days with Amazon anyway
thanks mate, just looking forward an educated piece of advice from someone versed on the whole story and current dev state about this phone =)
I understand there is a whole bunch of models SM-G9500, SM-G950F, SM-G950FD, SM-G950U, SM-G950U1, SM-G950W, SM-G950N....
Some Snapdragon, some Exynos...
I understand its best to go for an Exynos one, and among those the SM-G950F, SM-G950FD.... perhaps someone can tell me why is that or correct me?
F & FD are same. They use the same firmware.
The only difference is FD version has hybrid sim slot (2 sim or 1 sim + sd card).
Whereas F version has 1 sim + sd card option only.

Definitely go for an exynos version. Go for a G950F/FD. What these people said is correct, FD is dual SIM version. they are unlocked international versions with unlocked bootloaders. There is quite a lot of development ongoing for these devices.
