Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.1
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: Oct-14.1 branch is based on LineageOS
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-M.
Q: What about root?
A: Actually this version of OCT-N uses embedded root acccess which can be enabled in development settings.
Bugs:
Bugs happen. Our testers are very good at breaking things, but no where near as good as the rest of the Android public. In order to investigate and fix issues, we need the help of the users who are going to report them. The Android OS has many nifty features to help us in this, but only if we can engage the user to assist us.
Logs, Logcat, and the Android Debugging Bridge (ADB)
Like any other OS, Android has multiple log files that are generated and record the goings-on of the system. As a user, you have two basic ways to view and pull these to send to us. Without the information in the logfiles, there simply is not a whole lot of information to go on.
Log file APKs
Team OctOs recommends SysLog from the Android Market. This application will allow you to selectively pick any (or all) of the system logs, compress them into a .ZIP file, and allow you to save, email, move to your Copy/DropBox/Cloud Storage account, etc.
ADB Logcat
The Android Debugging Bridge (ADB) is a powerful tool available from Google as part of the Android Software Development Kit (SDK). Used for many things, being able to selectively see, in real-time, what your device is doing cannot be downplayed. While there is more setup involved, if you are doing consistent ROM flashing, you really should invest the time to get setup properly to do it.
ADB Logcat tutorial here: How to create a logcat log
Basic Instructions:
Download ROM .zip file and MD5 file, and grab your favorite Open Gapps package http://opengapps.org
Reboot to Recovery (Note: Use Reboot to Recovery from Power Menu, Hardware-based boot to recovery, or adb reboot recovery - ROM Manager or similar software is NOT supported)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files

Team OctOs presents Oct-L
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 5 (Lollipop)?
A: Yes, this is Android 5.1.1
Q: What code is Oct-L based on?
A: Starting with Oct-L, we've rebased OctOs on the CyanogenMod 12 code.
Q: What happened to AOSP?
A: All Android code is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). Under previous releases, we tried very hard to limit the number of "Not from Google directly" repositories that we used. Unfortunately, issues with devices, the need for Code Aurora Foundation (CAF) repositories for Qualcomm devices, and compatibility issues meant fighting code more often than not. We decided that since the code-base for many repositories were the same across most ROMs, picking a starting point to build the user experience on outweighed the desire to craft code from scratch, or fix broken code to make it work with other changes we already had.
Q: Why isn't there XXXXXXX feature.
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But CM and all the others have..
A: ROM developers, including CM, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-L.
Q: Superuser or SuperSU?
A: Team OctOs uses SuperSU and is installed automatically.

Factory Reset from TWRP
Flash ROM and GApps .ZIP files

The Oct-L ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /data/dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your GApps Provider

Setup went fine here, which gapps did u use?
U can try this ...
flashing both octos and opengapps in the same pass in TWRP mount System then delete?*/system/priv-app/SetupWizard ... Reboot System
Now you have to go into settings to configure your Google Account, but its not a big deal, and you won't even have to do that if you are just flashing a new NIGHTLY.

About
MoKee OpenSource is based on the Cyanogenmod. We update our source code frequently to keep up with the latest development, and not forgetting to merge in special features of our own at the same time.
A small group of people from around the world who are interested in Android launched this project on the 12th of December 2012, and is committed to make this ROM better and better. Like most contributors of open source projects (Omni, CyanogenMod, Slim AOSPA etc), we are doing all these in our free time as our passion…
Since this project is open source, anyone interested can participate in the development (maintain new devices, contribute code etc). Newcomers are always welcomed!
Read here for developer application: http://www.mfunz.com/en/developer-application, you can host your unofficial MoKee builds on our server!
Features:
(I will mention only that which does not take into CyanogenMod)
Listview animation
Interpolation anmação listview
Update over the air can download the download website only incremental, it helps lower faster update and upgrade more easily:
Some icons and own layouts
Manager for Google services, so no need to use a large gapps, you can only download necessary at MokeeCenter
Ringtones, Alarms, Notification, UI sounds are all different CyanogenMod, thus bringing a beautiful charm to rom
bootianimation own
information integrated into MokeeCenter
Settings to add speed data network
Settings for navigation bar
Settings for Statusbar
Intelligent control settings to configure the newer apps and others.
What is the difference?
RELEASE: Tested after integrating new features, more stable than NIGHTLY. (Odexed builds)
NIGHTLY: Built daily with newest code and experimental features, might contain undiscovered bugs. (Deodexded builds)
HISTORY: Final odexded builds once a newer Android version is out and being built.
EXPERIMENTAL: Released when a new device is added or when a new feature is added for public beta testing and feedback. (Deodexded builds)
UNOFFICIAL: Maintained separately by individual developers, usually involves modification of shared code which cannot be merged (affects other devices), therefore maintained by the developer himself.
Note: We always test the shared code for bugs, however sometimes we may not be able to detect device specific bugs. If you have such issues, it will be better to report to the device maintainer.

HERE
Installation mode :
To install the clean rom:
Download the rom
enter the recovery
make all wipes (expect internal storage)
choose zip from SD and install
you can use a gapps any of its taste since it is for android 7.0.x
or you can go MokeeCenter after starting rom, there you can download the small gapps integrated into the system and have a lighter and clean rom.
To install upgrade:
Method 1:
just download the complete package via OTA
enter the recovery
only to wipe cache and dalvik (optional, I do not)
install the complete package downloaded via OTA
Method 2:
Download the complete package over the air and go to install update
let install automatically for you
Method 3:
Download only incremental updates
for that you need to donate 30 CNY for the team to release the feature on the device directly
But you can do this update without donation
just go on the site and click below build itself where it is written (upgrade: OTA to MK ...)
there will be the incremental free for you, this will save on your data package or in your spare time.
Big Thanks @martincz for development

Does Google camera work with this ROM? I am on CM 14.1 Nightly know, and have crashing issues with the camera software.
The op says gapps 7.0. I think it's a typo. We will need to flash 7.1 gapps right?

One more question, is the build rooted or we need to install SuperSU to get root?
Has anyone installed this with Pixelfy?

every time you try to mod the /system partition ota updates will fail.
this is why systemless xposed/root/viper4android/... exists
I installed this ROM using official recovery (a mistake on my part not to read the OP completely). Now I can't boot into recovery.
Please, can someone point me to the correct custom recovery link.
Also do I need to flash 3.5.5 firmware? I am currently on 3.2.7.

I am sure there is none.
All the ROMs are based on some generic ROM for all the Phone Models.
I would assume someone would have to really did deep to enable this feature.
If one does, then most likely it can be picked up by all ROM builders.

I don't think so. If I have not missed any settings option, there is no fp NAV available.
What's the difference between this and all the other roms?
This one is based on
Based On: AOSP + CAF
while AospExtended is
Based On: AOSP-Extended
and other like AICP, RR, AOSGP X are
Based On: Lineage OS
More on AOSP
CAF is a custom Linux kernel branch in place to support Qualcomm hardware. CAF is Code Aurora repository. It's the place where Qualcomm releases source code for their phone processors.
By using a potentially heavily customized kernel (while AOSP Android uses the main Linux kernel), custom kernel developers will have to effectively maintain two separate instances of their customizations.
CodeAurora (CAF) - These are Qualcomm's reference sources for their platform. This is what they provide to OEMs, and what nearly all OEMs base their software off of. As a result - nearly all non-Nexus devices are running kernels/display HALs/etc. that are derived from a CAF baseline.
Google's software baseline, or AOSP - Usually when Google starts working on a new Android version, they'll fork from CAF at the beginning. Very often Google will be adding "new" features specific to the new Android version, while Qualcomm will continue with performance enhancements and bugfixes against the "old" baseline.
So when a new Android revision comes out, you have two baselines: CAF which is usually "ahead" in performance but "behind" in features, and AOSP which is the opposite.

You have mentioned that the ROM is based on aosp + caf and stating bugs same as los. Why is it so? Because as far as I understand that if you use los as base rom you get bugs same as los and respective for other roms.
Please do forgive me if I have said something wrong or something that I don't understand.

There are two things AFAIK
1.ROM tree
2.Device/Kernel tree
So actually this rom is based on AOSP(ROM tree) but has bugs like any other LOS ROM for our P2(Device/Kernel tree)
So Whether the ROM is based on AOSP or LOS based ,this isn't determined by the Device/Kernel tree but the ROM tree.
Atomic-OS Download Link
I have always loved CAF based ROMs.
Goods:
1. Fluid... Smooth..
2. Quite light. Happy to see Email... gone. very few apps by default.
3. WiFi is stable. HotSpot works fine.
Could be better:
1. Choice and range of customization is quite small. Hoping AICP/RR customizations will be strived for.
Bugs:
1. 7000000.ssusb bug present. -> One needs to connect charger and removed after a reboot of the OS, else this process will keep the OS awake. Battery drain. (As with any other ROM)
2. Camera is quite grainy. I think it is not as good as on Lineage Based ROMs.
3. LED Notifications not present by default. (As with any other ROM) --> Workaround -> Lightflow
Before anybody asks, VoLTE doesn't work.
My dream would be a AICP Customization+CAF
Thanks again @Rk585 and @wzedlare for making this happen.
Hoping to see more on this ROM.

Could be possible to add the Skin Recents in this rom?
Also, i have installed the rom this morning and so far It seems great. Nice Work
Little edit: I can't root my device with this OS
Both SuperSu and Magisk doesn't work
The First one has this error
" - Extracting Ramdisk
--- Failure, aborting "
Magisk just says Error: 1
I have already tried to make a full wipe of the cache, data and system, re downloaded the rom and still doesn't work
TWRP 3.1.0.0 is the recovery i use

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this Android 7 (Nougat)?
A: Yes, this is Android 7.1.2
Q: What code is Oct-N based on?
A: This version of Oct-N is based on LineageOS 14.1 by FireLord
Q: Why isn't there XYZ feature?
A: Shoot us a Suggestion if you want to see something added. While we are not going to promise to implement, we will always look into it
Q: But all the others have..
A: ROM developers, build something they want to use. The ROM developer that includes something they won't run implies less than 100% effort to ensure it does work. As a team, we have similar goals and objectives. If XYZ ROM has a feature you want, and we don't include (or don't want to include), feel free to use XYZ ROM, or build your own custom version of Oct-N.
Q: What about root?
A: Root is removed by default (user will be able to flash which ever root zip they want)
--- TWRP is the ONLY recovery Team OctOs uses - We do not support flashing on CWM ---
The Oct-N ROM installation script will automatically wipe /system, /cache, and /dalvik-cache. There is no need to do these before or after flashing the ROM unless you are instructed to by your Gapps Provider. When dirty flashing weekly updates, you MUST reflash Gapps along with any other files, apps, custom mods or kernels etc.. (anything that resides in system partition)
Flash ROM, GApps and any additional .ZIP files
Reboot
