new display... Different display? - Huawei Nova/Nova Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys..4 says ago I have broken display ( first fall, with cover = full crash.. Too fragile?)
So I bought a new display (glass+display+touchscreen) on ebay and started to replace it. Before i begin to completely destroy the old one I checked the new one to see how it was made and where the connettore were. Result: one huge connector. So I started to remove the old one and surprise: a large connector and a small one (which I broke not knowing it s existence). How is it possible? I have replaced the display and all seems to work anyway. What can be the synaptics modulo that there is not in the new assempled display ?

It's possible that Huawei use different panels. Just check Aida 64 or a other system tool.

Hi and thanks for sharing...was it a hard fall,a very hard one ?...how high was it ?
Ive ordered a nice thick silison/plastik framing for mine but for now,i've modified my previous Lg G3 Vigor rubber casing (without the framed plastik) and putted a piece of cardboard between phone and rubber....and taped black the cardboard hehehe...

Heres my MLA-L03 Aida...

Hi,
my screen is also broken and i wanted to know if you have a tutorial to change my screen.
Was it difficult compared to other brand ?
Thank you for your help

[Q] Defy CM7.2 Replaced Digitzer now strange malfunction only in lower screen area

Hi XDA,
on my Defy (MB525) I had a broken digitizer. I replaced with a digitzer bought off EBay which went surprisingly fine with the help of a few YouTube-Videos showing it.
Every thing works (including proximity) anyhow a few screen areas (lower left side) where major cracks have been do not work with the new screen. As an example: I have SwiftKey installed (QWERTZ-Layout) and when I press e on it, the keyboard shows w and r (which are adjacent to e). The same goes for the entire row below it. The effect can be reproduced with other applications or keyboards as well, and is pretty annoying.
Question: Is there anything on the software-side where I can fix this or is the replacement digitizer faulty? If the latter is the case, is there any recommended source in Europe?
I appreciate all your answers and suggestions!
Cheers,
frickelbarde
The digitizer in question was faulty.
Don't buy the Chinese stuff, watch for genuine parts. For the Defy there is a polish guy on EBay who sells built-out originals for ~15€. The one I bought worked.

Frickelbarde

[Q] u8800-51 touch screen bottom not responding

u8800-51 touch screen bottom not responding
hi all
i am new and ignorant
(love the xda rules vid)
just bought second hand at&t impulse 4g (u8800-51) , with the bottom half of the screen, not responding to touch.
the top half works
i was told that it happened when the device got dropped.
the picture is good.
got stuck in at&t logo boot loop, and erased back to original on the android rescue screen. and its booting again
tried to reassemble the screen , but no change.
will replacing the glass plus digitizer solve it?
is there a difference between u8800 and u8800-51 screen parts? (or any other hardware for that matter?)
thanks alot
Switching the touch screen (glass) will fix your problem.
In which side do you have the notification led on? Right or left of speaker?
If it is on the right, you probably have the smaller speaker system (that's good to know if you are buying with the frame).
There is no difference in the sockets, however I have seen all Impulse 4G have the Synaptics version (black flex cable), so it would be better if you'd buy that. Some of the eBay sellers are offering the official AT&T touch screen, with the logo on it, so that would be a safe place to buy from.
-EDIT-
Some more things to know:
When they are selling with a frame, you can see it on the picture and they usually mention that somewhere too. If you took the phone open, it's easy to tell if it's big or small by looking whether it looks like this (big speaker).

thank u so much
after a long study of the different pics of sellers, i remain a confused, because i finally found enough pics
(attached)
to realize that my model always have the black cable u mentioned which comes with a SMALL speaker, while the big speaker always come with the yellow cable, but alas, my device comes with a black cable, but big speaker,
so should i go with cable color + name mentioned (AT&T Impulse 4G) + AT&T logo, (which all calls for a Small speaker) OR , should i go with speaker size (big) ?
regarding my indicator position, it is to thr right when i look from the inner angle (like the photo of the big speaker that u added

That's the digitizer only. I don't think it's glass really, but it's easier to say it is.
I replaced mine by taking off the old digitizer from the frame. It came off pretty easily, it just needs some patience to take it apart without breaking it.
If you don't want to mess with glue, I'd suggest this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digitizer...356?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4abfc0011c
It's without the AT&T logo. I cannot guarantee it will fit though, there is always this chance Huawei modified something else between the U8800 and -51.

i prefer not to risk peeling, for breakage, and gluing, for moisture and mess.
i am starting to think that my digitizer was not original, and that is why it failed.
and feels like plastic. i found an original part at cellulardr.com for about 70$ vs. the 10-$15 ebay ones.
so maybe the seller put on impulse 4g, a big earpiece frame, with a yellow cable digitaizer. what a mess!
i attach a pic of big vs small earpieces. i believe the ''big'' is the one with golden terminals.
i think i will get a cheap ebay small earpiece frame with a black cable digitizer (like the original had, i believe) , with a 5$ small earpiece as extra.
god. why do i feel like Sherlock Holmes ?

This is only with glass.
You can buy a used one for under $70 or an OEM frame with glass. In my op, its not worth to fix.

i am sorry - what is not worth fixing ?
yes, i am going to buy a small earpiese frame with black cable plus a small earpiece,
but seeing my old digitizer, i am starting to think (because of the price difference from the original) that all these E-bay so called "glass" , 10-15$ , advertized digitizers ,are actually made of plastic ??
but i will not "invest in an expensive glass before i am happy with the new device.
so far i have not seen used original digitizers.
if i am happy with the device, i might start looking for a"for parts" u8800-51 deal on E-bay
thanks again

Yes, but $70 and you have a brand new one. Basically, fixing it is more trouble than selling it.

the cheapest new impulse 4g i could find cost 150$. i do get your point, but i already invested time and money on it and i can't sell a device that i am not sure of his condition. also its a little bit exciting for me if i manage to make it work.
is there any way to bypass the faulty touch screen ,for sake of testing the phone,
with some external device such as usb\Bluetooth mouse and keyboard ?

Hey non-toxic, thanks for your post.
Last week my new Honor 7 arrived. But a few days later my phone falls down and the display glass brokes.
After I googled a long time i found a replacement glass for the Honor 7 for around 15€.
Does anybody knows it is possible to change only the glass without the digitizer or the LCD?
I seen a lot of movies of Samsung replacements on Youtube. Are they transferable to the Honor 7?
Thanks for answers and sorry for bad english language
Freddy
this video isn't for Honor7 but for Huawei Mate 7. The procedure should be nearly the same.

german user can order the display glas here:->
http://www.ebay.de/itm/like/201449476290?ul_noapp=true&chn=ps&lpid=106
so i think it must be possible to change only the glas.
and here is a Honor 7 "tear down" video:

but i miss the part of changing the glas!
Jup, I know. I have seen severals Videos of the Huawei Ascend Mate 7.
The "teardown" videos aren't show the Display removal
But thank you for your reply.
found a new video:

Today I decided to replace the whole Display and not only the glass.
Can anyone tell me a good "chinese" Site, like "banggood" where I can order the new display unit?
today i tried to open my H7! I removed the lttle screw but wasn’t able to open the body! Don't know why! I have used a tool but it fails!!! Maybe they have used glue. Did somebody open his phone successful?
second try:
ok, the body is open, but the back cover is damaged now!

Unpacking your new Xperia device, Clean it

Hey all
I just unoacked my 2nd Z3+, but I thought Ide share this with the community....
The reason Im onto my 2nd device is because on my 1st Z3+ the camera images had a cloudy ghosting to them and some chromatic abboration.. but what ive realised now is... all Xperia devices are shipped. with the white frosted protective sticky films covering both the back and front of the Xperia that you peel off..
However when I did peel them off I noticed they leave behind a tacky oily residue on the the REAR glass back which is on your fingers when you first use your Z, probably why the back panel gets all "finger marked up" out of the box , but I now wonder if this is also on the camera hence why I got cloudy images.. I dont mean the Display screen itself as the xperia comes with a screen protector already on it, so thats ok..
I just gently cleaned my camera glass with a lint free cloth and a touch of water (no soap) or lense cleaner and it seems to be taking great shots, so if your finding this yourself, give that a try... I will say ... its not the best idea to clean any camera glass too much, as this can cause its own problems.. too much rubbing can build up static which attracts lint and dust particles, also smearing from the cloth.. use a lint free cloth, Personally, Ive found a quick clean every now and again is a good practise
Just thought Ide share this
Nice suggestion. I've had a Z1 compact before, and I'm looking forward in buying Z3+ to replace it. Do you recommend this device? Does it overheat?

Yes, It overheats while gaming, browsing & using camera at top back of the phone. The heat is a bit higher than normal. Except that it is wonderful phone. If you concern about heat, ignore this phone else go for it.
Average battery
heats tooo much...till 46deg celsius... at that temp its lag a bit
Except all this its good mobile....
Camera is awesome
I rooted mine, debloated and installed project skynet. No lag at all and sits comfortably 35-45 which by modern standards is acceptable. This is a thin phone too remember.
My Z3+ is E6553 Rev. 5, which came with a fast charger in the box, and Ive found the heat is not as bad for me as alot of people have been reporting, I only shoot in 1080p video as well... and yes while is does get hot, its not untouchable... so maybe my Revision is an updated one.
I do really like this phone, its design and UI. I had considered a Z3, but SONY no longer support the Z3. I prefer the Z3+ for its wider camera angle, and extra modes, I know the Z3+ still uses the SONY RS sensor, but i read they had updated the imaging algorythms and changed a few things. Also the bottom mounted USB port.. (the usb covered flap on the Z3 is infuriating). Also I find the overall volume is louder for both ringer and music as well as the speakers being moved to the edges so they dont collect as much gunk and pocket lint.
Yeah.. its a great phone. Over here in UK you can buy for about £250 - £300 sim free, so its a great buy

Its on the side of the box.. its got the Model, and a few bar codes.. IMEI, Model Code etc or, inside the box, there should be a set of bar coded stickers (you know the ones you stick on the device if you need to return it for repairs)... should be on there if not on the boxc.
Good wishes bro.... @NightOrchid bro can u show us a pic of how to chk that rev5

Hi there, today i got my brand new z3+ single SIM Rev. 5. Nice package... Glas Screen Protector, USB OTG Cable EC310, Smart Cover SCR30, Charger EP880 with 1500mA, Sony MH750 Headset, Micro USB Cable EC803 and a 30 Euro Gift Card for "HelloFresh" dont know what that is xD. The Phone itself is a little bit sticky, but after a clean with a damp microfibre cloth its perfect. I dont know why here on XDA some people ask for a Kernel with D2tW, its in the Stock Rom integrated already ("Settings->Display" on the Bottom of this menu).

N900P board in N9005 screen assembly

I have a trusty old N900P on which the front glass has cracked and screen is no longer functional, but the unit appears to turn on and boot (i can connect to a pc and it's recognised).
Now I dont want to install an after market screen (the quality and touch is never the same) so was thinking about buying a new unit. I can get a n9005 delivered fairly quickly, but I was hoping I could transplant my old board into the new phone assembly and it would work? what do you think? From what I can see the everything (layout & connectors etc) looks identical internally.
Thanks
