This totally sucks.

I'm keeping and using my original, works fine. I'll take my chances, i like it too much. I've had it since the first day, so i think I'll be alright????

I had no issues with mine up graded to a safe unit, still no major concerns besides a moister detected notification and a broken Spen but minor in my book, Spen replaced phone works great. Its not going anywhere until something better comes along.

My note works fine too. Mine isnt part of the originals or replacements according to the green battery icon. But if the note is stopped, what about businesses making stuff for the note or will that taper off?

War before they take my note 7 out of my hands! No other phones is better than note 7.

Well you either have an original or a replacement device... there are no others.
Green battery means replacement device... regardless if you bought it new that way.
Yeah im sure companies will stop making stuff... but there is a lot out there already for them to sell.

I would imagine all of the accessories for the note 7 will be really cheap soon.

Just got back from the corporate store. Returned no problems. Sad, sad day :'(

Had no problems with the original but i still exchanged when the "new" batch surfaced. Replacement is running like a champ and i couldn't be happier with it. Despite the flaw that has plagued the Note 7, it's still top of the line and my faith in Samsung has not wavered.

That's what I did. Very happy with the Edge. Only a few minor things I don't like so far.
1) The notifications don't appear on the Always On Display. If they do I can't find out where to turn them on. Google searching turned up nothing.
2) I need new cases/screen protectors/etc...
3) The USB-C port. Got very used to not having to worry about orientation when I plugged it in.
4) Smaller screen. Not by much and people I show it to don't seem to notice, but I do.
But I am happy with it. I'll use it until the Note 8 comes out.

Random Black Screen Flashes

I have owned a Nexus 7 2nd gen for a couple months now and have just started to get random flashes of black (occurs for not even a quarter second) ...
I am wondering what causes this...
I have not damaged the Nexus in any way and bought it brand new..
I have only used CleanRom and PA ROM...
The functionality of the tablet remains great, but the flashes are very annoying ...I have tried clean installing multiple times but the flashes still happen...
Any feedback/solutions would be a big help...
Thanks

The whole screen?
I've noticed black lines when playing Terraria for hours but its only the background of certains areas. I chalked I up as game glitches.
I haven't seen anything outside of that.
Give us some more details.

Yes...the whole screen...
This is not a set of lines the entire screen flashes black for a millisecond....

I had that happen soon enough for a return to be viable. Do some more Google searching and you'll find people who fixed this as a hardware issue. They had to open the back and fiddle a connection. Didn't sound to hard but I just went to best buy instead.
Happy hunting, sorry I don't have a link.

Yea I would exchange it before it is too late. Doesn't seem that troublesome but if it got worse, or worst, disconnected entirely, it would bring bad news.

What specific piece of hardware is causing this?
I still have this issue from time to time ..
I've notices it happens a lot less if I turn off auto brightness and manually turn brightness above 45-50 percent...

Just because you bought it off ebay doesn't mean it doesn't still carry the 1 year manufacturer warranty on the hardware. It would require you to send it in, but worth a shot.
Once you pop the back and start fiddling with hardware, you run the risk of doing enough damage where Asus will void the warranty. I think I would check with Asus first before resorting to hardware modifications.

What are the requirements to have it repaired/replaced under warranty as I have already rooted it with a custom rom

Should I wait?

I'm wanting to upgrade to the nexus 6p 128gb but am not sure if I should wait? What do you guys think? Are there any bugs or anything I should wait to get sorted out before purchasing? I'm on Verizon so I should just be able to put my sim card right in right? I have a Galaxy note 3 right now but the lack of ROMs and developer support is horrible. Can't wait for Cyanogen Mod and all that good stuff with the nexus 6p but I'm not sure if I should wait. Also are there any cases like the otter box defender with a built in screen protector that I can order for it?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
If you didnt get it day 1 I would probably wait to let the dust settle down. I say this because I remember buy the Nexus 5 day 1 and I remember later couple months Google made some minor tweaks to the design. I just got spigen case (they released it last week) and its pretty awesome. For screen I am using skinomi and thts the only screen protector I found in amazon that doesn't block the sensor.

I wouldn't wait. You need to experience this. It is the smoothest phone I have ever used. And I've had every "flagship" there ever was.(iphones included) The Note 5 is atrocious in fluidity next to this thing. You can pop a sim card in it and go on Verizon. ( though I've seen some complaints of mms problems) As far as custom roms go, I would learn to use gravity box if you don't know now. Im not sure of the status of xposed on 6.0. Stock with your own tweaks blows CM away I think. I bought an i-blason holster case for mine which I'm actually VERY impressed with. It doesn't have a built in protector. It was only 12 bucks though!! This phone is just too big to go into a pocket.
^^^ this phone is great so far and activating it on Verizon was no problem at all

I came from a note 3. The 6P blows it out of the water, you won't believe how crazy smooth the 6P is. Love love it. Dooooo eeetttt.
Thread like this one never make sense to me... Do 5 minutes search on the forum and get a general idea then decide.
Just want to make sure there isn't anything that needs to be fixed by Google before I make my purchase. Also how has battery life been for everyone?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Here are my thoughts on the phone: On the plus side, this phone is awesome. The best one Google has ever made, that coupled with the Guaranteed updates from Google, will keep phone alive and current for couple of years to come. Battery life is awesome, as well as the Camera, & the phone in general feels buttery smooth. No lags whatsoever. On the down side - There are people with gyroscope issues, Sound issues, & screen hue issues. I guess I am lucky, in those regards. I did not run into any of those issues. Also, do not expect a lot of accessories on this phone yet. lot of third party vendors are still in trial and error mode.
I am on verizon as well, I had to get me a Nano sim & then call Verizon to get the IMEI & SIM number added to the account to Activate the phone, while you are at it also ask them to add the advanced calling on to your account so that you can make calls and use internet at the same time.
At the end of the day, its your choice. But, if I were you. I would definitely buy it again.
I used to run cyanogen also. Now I'm running chroma and it is great so far. I think you should jump and get the phone. I love it.
Also I am verizon and I just put the sim card in and everything is fine.

Thanks for this tip. I chated with Verizon and had them add advanced calling to my line and now internet works while on the phone.
The 6p might just be my favorite phone ever.

You won't regret it. It is an incredible phone. Best phone of this year and the best Nexus to date. Once you go nexus, you will wonder why you didn't do so sooner. It is buttery smooth, fast updates for features and security fixes. Superb camera, ESPECIALLY if you love selfies. The FFC on this phone is as good as some last gen phones' rear camera.
Battery life is very good, considering I'm coming from the notorious Z3. Luckily, I haven't had any screen hue issues or audio problems but my compass doesn't work despite navigation working fine. If you spend too much time on the forums, you'll get OCD and paranoid/insecure about the phone and start ACTIVELY LOOKING for defects or imperfections. I've had my 'look' over it and used it a week now. No complaints here at all. I'm bloomin' impressed!
In the odd case that yours is defective, Google's got a very forgiving returns policy or refund.

This is what I'm worried about compass issues and screen issues. Stuff like that if I wait it out do you think they'll fix it? Are these things software or hardware issues? I guess what I'm saying is if I get this phone and something is screwy a software update should fix the compass issues and screen and audio stuttering?

Who knows, Huawei might revise the phone and iron out the kinks (like has happened with past devices) or they may stick with their current manufacturing processes and say the devices are with specification limits. In general, early electronic devices always have minor problems which manufacturer's sort out in later revisions.

Yeah that's what I think I'm going to do. I'll wait till Google gets all the kinks worked out. I've got a developer edition note 3 as my daily driver right now but there's only one ROM available (seriously). So I'm on stock modified Jasmine ROM v6.1 with everything uninstalled besides Google apps and such. I just miss Cyanogen Mod and the themes and everything. I honestly only want the Nexus 6p for Cyanogen Mod but it will be a while till that's out for this device. I'll buy the Nexus 6p, unlock bootloader, install twrp, flash Cyanogen Mod and be done with it (then I'll just have to periodically update to the newest version)

Issue: accidental selection while scrolling...

Like the title says, is anybody having an issue where something on screen gets selected/checked /pushed randomly and Unintentionally while you're scrolling up or down? It's very random but i can reproduce it within maybe 20 Scrolls. I've never seen it on any phone I've ever used but this one.
I don't know if I should maybe take back the device and get another to see if it's defective.
Its really annoying.
I hope to hear from someone if it happens to them or, if it's never happened. Thanks.
EDIT:Issue has been fixed with the latest update for tmobile variants. PC8 version is fixed and issue is squashed.

Yes sir I have noticed this, but it doesn't bother me to the point where I would return the phone. I chalk it up to the curved screen
Ok but i hope you don't think I'm talking about the edges. What happens for me is that something will get selected from the middle of the screen where my index finger is swiping. Not talking about accidental presses on the edges.
Not sure if that's what you were referring to. Thanks for letting me know.

I suspect the vast majority of people didn't buy the phone. I suspect they are leasing it. If you bought the phone from Samsung the bootloader is unlocked. Carriers request this stuff. People brick their phones then lie and say something happened to it and want a new phone.

I've actually adjusted the way I swipe and such and it has taken very nicely.. I haven't had this phantom touch for a couple days now but I understand how it is annoying. The phone is so good in so many other aspects that I just adjusted...
I came from a note 3. I needed an upgrade so I got the lgg4. Then v10 came out and I used a jump to get that.. They signed me up for the new jump which gave me 3total.
I didn't like either lg phone and their weird software so I took my v10 in to jump to note5. After time with that beast I thought I had a keeper. But then I used this phone and realized I have more use here than with my note 5. So I jumped again.. I now have one more jump left so I will use my s7 for now because there isn't anything else out there I want.. I'm content with flashing roms on my note 3 because that device is totally beast still.. But with the s7, I absolutely love the thin bezels we have. Love it... Looks amazing with klwp on your homescreen. And the sd card I absolutely needed.. Many videos and pictures with this camera..

So what's next (possible 2nd recall)

I know there is a thread about the issues with the replacements. This thread about thoughts on where to go from there. What people think about what phone to replace the Note 7 etc.
I just dont know what other phone is good enough to jump to. Or if its even worth staying with the Note even if Samsung goes for v3... Resale value etc.

I am thinking the V20. I don't want the s7e. The v20 looked much tougher than the N7 but with same screen real estate. Not as good as the N7 but may be my only choice since it appears the N7 may be abonded by all carriers. No way will it make economical sense to give updates and alike for the small few who stubbornly try to keep it.
We have a dead device, weird year for Samsung and us for sure, it's almost as strange as our election this year.
For some reason i feel i am more at risk with the replacement. I used my 1st n7 almost to the end but i dont know. I guess i have had enough
Now im not sure if i will even get a new phone, i may just stay with my Note 5

I kept my note 5 as well, but the only thing I could replace the note 7 with is the note 8. I feel this is really bad for the note faithful, those of us who are s pen junkies and have had several notes before 7. There isn't a replacement except for another note. Finally a waterproof, SD card capable note, hell the only things missing is the removable battery. I plan to roll the dice and keep this one as lo g as I can, I won't be early for the recall if it comes back up. They got me the first time, this time I am more skeptical about it.

I stopped using my n7 until more info comes out. I dont think i will keep it because there is no point paying $800+ for a phone that probably won't get support. If Samsung goes for round 3 they need to offer a heavy discount to those of us who have dealt with this mess from day one...

Note 7 Reinassants

This thread will be used for all of those that have decided to hold on to your note 7s. You are a special group of people that are not intimidated by the paranoia and histeria that has overwhelmed everyone else. Yes, you guys rock, because you know better than all those idiots that were wetting their pants because they were afraid. Not YOU.
Let's use this thread to share ideas and techniques that you've come up with to mittigate the perceived threat. This will help everybody and it'll make our experience with the note 7 even better.

Ok, me first. My biggest concern was the "what if" phone decides to pop in the middle of the night. So I went to Walmart and for twenty bucks I got a fire proof case. I drilled a hole in it to slide the power chord and now I have 100% protection while I sleep. And of course, every morning I get up and unlock the fire proof case only to find my note 7 in perfect condition.

Ok, I think this is important. Samsung is yet to tell the world the cause of the fires. But common sense tells us the fires are being propelled by the batteries. So, I'm no scientist, but I bought the Samsung battery case and I'm thinking it is somehow protecting my note 7. You see, by using the battery case, the phone never gets charged. The case battery charges the note 7 battery wirelessly. So there's no power going to the battery, just wireless juice.
So, my advice is to buy the Samsung battery case. It's probable even cheaper now that Samsung cancelled production.
The other point of course is that with the battery pack, you get a full day worth of use. My note 7 battery is at 50% by noon. It would be dead by 8:00 pm. With the battery case, I put the phone to charge with at least 40% of juice remaining. AWESOME.

I'm keeping mine for now. Nothing else compares. Concerns are support. Software upgrades and insurance coverage. Anyone have information?
One of the reasons for this thread was to get a count of how many note 7 users are out there. My hope was to contact Samsung and ask them to release N for the note 7. If we get a lot of people, who knows?

As far as upgrades, I would recommend you DO NOT install any updates. It might brick your note 7.

Viva Le Revolution! Sprint told me today they have no plans to blacklist the Note 7 phones. In fact, I just turned of "download updates" on my N7. There's no other phone that compares.
Still got mine
