I am really upset with the amount of bass that comes out of my omnia 7. I almost can't fell the bass at all when I listen to music. Is it just my phone or does others have same problem?
The problem is both in the headset and when connected to external sound system through mini-jack.

seems bassy enough to me...i think that means there is something wrong with your phone
Ok that's strange. The sound is better than my old iPhone's, both bass and trable are clear and strog on my both sennheizer headset HD418 and earphones cx300, didn't try to connect it to speakers yet.
Postive you're plugging them in all the way?
I haven't tried music off my phone yet, so I wil give it a go once I've found my headphones - I'm very picky/fussy when it comes to how my music sounds, so I will let you know what I think

I've had better bass with my old Nokia phone. Is there a setting somewhere or maybe a tweak to make it better?
I've bought mine outright here in Australia.
It sounded OK for me with some high-end Creative ear-bud things... I will test it out with some more music tomorrow for you
Hi, I thought i had the same problem until i changed the rubber bits on the earphones as mine would never stay in. You need to get the earphones in your ear properly (all the way in) cause if not its sounds tinny. Once in then you will find that there really is a lot of bass
I do agree with the lack of bass, it does definitely come down to headphones used which should not be the case.
when running with shure se210's there is a limited bass range, when running with ultimate ears superfi 5's it was similar. Comparing this to my ultimate ears triplefi 10's and bose triport onears, both of these have a heavy bass. Im guessing they support a wider range of bass.
Its a shame as its one of the only drawbacks to this phone.

I think that we just need an equalizer like the HD7.
Coming from a HD7, the sound quality is awful in comparison, and I'm using Beats not some cheap earphones.

Noticed no difference when listening to the same Song. Tested with ipod and omnia 7.
Bass is very poor with the standard headset, agreed an equaliser is needed asap, cant believe a handset this new is lacking it to be honest.

can anybody say anything about the audio quality with decent headphones? I have pretty good Shure headphones, which don't work very well with my current phone, which is one of the reasons I consider buying the U8800. I'd change my mind if I knew the quality was bad.
So, how are the quality overall and how loud does it get (I usually don't listen very loudly).

I can't make comaparisons with other smartphones and in the month I have had the IDEOS X5 I find the sound quality pretty good through the headphones.
I've used different headphones that I have lying around. All were better than the headphones that came with the phone.
At home I use an old Koss full padded headphones that I normally use on the PC or when watching TV late at night. (It has a very long cable). I find the qality pretty good, warm bass without it being too punchy.
I also bought a set of cheap (AUD$3.50) stereo headphones from e-bay. The sound was crisp, perhaps a little too much treble but you can balance it out depending on the music app you use.
I recently bought a Sony Bluetooth stereo MW600 headset which work nicely with the IDEOS X5 using the stock music player. Sound is clear and well balanced.
Neither of these are very loud but I've had it turn it down a little depending on the outside noise level.
Having said all that there is a huge difference to sound quality depending on the type of bit rate used on the MP3's. The higher the bit rate the better the sound quality and volume...but I think that goes without saying but music listeners possibly don't allow for the quality of the re-encoding.
AND...the quality of audio is about 100 x better than through the speakers
The sound quality is bad. The bass is good but it also "spreads" out and muffles other sounds so it all sounds hazy. My PC/cowon I7 does not suffer from this.
The headphones I use daily are IE7's. Shure SE420 also sounded hazy with U8800. Tested with FLAC and MP3's with similar results on both.

Varatesh: Considering what high quality earphones you use, I guess your expectations might be somewhat higher than mine.
Sadly I don't know own anybody withe an U8800 so I can't test the audio quality and it's rarely tested in reviews, so no "objective" info there.

I don't now if I help w/ my case:
I only use the U8800 heaphones/mic and I must not change because the pinout is different (begining by the point):
Sound.L/Sound.R/Mic/Ground.
The others like Samsung, LG, etc. the pinout is:
Sound.L/Sound.R/Ground/Mic.
If we chage it the sound is bad because it return by Mic, not by ground. And the Mic also work bad.
That's interesting, ValenteL. So that means it would be possible to solder an adapter? It's just a matter of switching two channels.

It's possible. For music only, no problem, I use one w/ 3 contacts.
W/ Mic I encountered only one same the U8800, is the ZTE Blade one.

Using ideos x5 + poweramp (it uses ffmpeg's codecs = better quality than the stock android codecs) + sony mw600 = eargasm.
Deep bass, rich high's and great fidelity, even on low bit rate HEAAC files. Although one thing to note, i had problems and dropouts using by bluetooth handset over a2dp with the stock froyo roms. That problem vanished as soon as i moved to the 2.3.5 roms floating around here (My personal favorite is MIUI and i'm waiting for an official cm7 nightly )
I'm not an audiophile or something - i wouldn't use my smartphone for music if i was one - but for the price tag and the hardware we get, music quality is superb, especially compared to the crappy sound output my previous htc wildfire had.

Sound is normal but you always can hear empty noise..the current noise.. there is no silence when there is no audio (yes it shuts down audio after 5secs of no audio) but it always have noise if you listen at more then 25% of volume then you will not hear it but if you listen at night you can clearly hear it.

I agree with this. It's very apparent when listening to audiobooks, not a big problem with music though.
I can confirm the "current" noise too....
I've owned the Z1, and the Z1 Compact. Now I'm hearing Z2 has the sale volume/crackly output.
I wear an earphone plugged directly into my phones jack when I talk and drive, and the audio quality on every sony phone is TERRIBLE. Crackly, distorted sound and every time the mic on the earphone touches any part of my shirt it cuts out all volume. I've tested this with 6 other android phones and no problems. Strangely though Windows Phone also suffers from this problem. Also audio output through a 3.5mm aux cable into the car produces extremely quiet sound on the highest volumes.
How has Sony not fixed this? I feel like this is bush league stuff.

My Z2 arrived today, it does NOT have that problem....go figure
My Z1 sounds awesome together with my MDR1 headphones, never had a better sound on a phone

So you're telling me when you plug in earphones directly into the jack, there is no change in sound, no crackling audio, no clarity or volume issues at all? Try plugging those same earbuds into another modern android phone or iphone and you'll hear zero interference or crackling issues.

Can you check your source material of what you're listening to? It may be compressed on the high end.
And owning Z1, Z1 Compact and now the Z2 is kind of unbelieveable if you just want to come in an trash the Z2. (Not that I'm accusing you of this but I would have posted this issue on this forum if it was discovered on the Z1)

I'm talking about listening to spotify on extreme quality over a 4G LTE connection, or simply speaking to somebody while driving hands free.
I had an HTC ONE and plugging in the same iphone headphone into it it sounds like im speaking on a landline with no interference or static at all. Every sony phone ive used experiences this, it's very strange.

That is correct..
I have the digital noise cancelling headset (MDR-NC31EM) and there is NO crackling..NO issues at all.
Totally agree with krabappel2548 , fantastic sound quality..:laugh:
I used the Bose noise cancelling headset and it's awesome. No issues. One thing i noticed, with the case you have to be sure the earphone jack is seated properly.

I don't have Spotify so I don't know what it means in terms of extreme quality. They could be upsampling a bad source and call it extreme quality.

Spotify extreme quality = 320kbps encoding. The best you can get for streaming right now.
No problems here, the noise cancelling headphones are excellent too,
I had that same crackling on my Lumia 800, I could hear it when on low volume or on pause, really annoying.
I think most people just don't notice.

You have sound problem, he had mic problem, I m had camera overheat problem. Sony details make the problem.

Yh i have the same issue on my Z1. I checked with CM11 or AOSP and there is no crackling in low volume so this is definalty not a hardware problem.
To reduce this Crackling sound while ising Stock i download a custom Kernel like DoomLord's and use Pimp My Z1 (or any app you prefer) to turn down the gain the in the sound options. The downside is that the volume becomes lower. This method doesnt get rid of it completely but it does reduce it. I honestly dont even bother with stock anymore i just use CM11 or PA on my Z1.
BTW i think this Noise is called Sibilance. G3 users are experiencing the same problem.
Also turning off ClearAudio+ reduces the crackling sound.
Cracking insinuates that there is a popping noise. I hear none. As far as noise, yes. There is a faint hiss at low volume, extremely faint. Sony isn't exactly a leader in SNR but the audio isn't necessarily bad. Anyone who is using ClearAudio+ (which is total s***) shouldn't even comment on audio issues, definitely turn that off. Clear Phase on the old 4.2.2 ROM caused some definite extreme distortion and cracking over Bluetooth (but not the headphone jack) but that has been removed in the new ROM.
Sibilance is the hiss sound you hear when people make "S" sounds into the microphone. It can be really harsh, but usually reducing frequencies around 4-6KHz will reduce the problem. Sibilance is extremely prevalent in analog FM Radio.
I currently have an issue where sometimes I only get sound out of one of the noise cancelling headphones. I have to rotate the headphone socket in the jack to get sound to come out of both. Sometimes I also get crackling on my e10s when the phone is in my pocket. I think I have a faulty headphone jack as the MDR1 work perfectly on my Z3TC.
Speaking with Sony UK they asked me to do a repair on the phone which seemed to help a little but the problems still exist. I expect my headphone socket has some damage or has become faulty.
Iv noticed that when i plug in my phone to the soundsystem i have to crank the volume up allot higher to get the same soundlevel out of the spekers as other phones. Anyone have a solution to get the volume up out of the phone? (3.5mm output)
So I just got my HTC U11 today and spent a few hours setting it up. I finally got around to trying out the phone's audio capabilities.
USonic - they sound good for out of the box earphones, but they're definitely not as good as my V-Moda Forza's. I could tell immediately. I doubt I'll use this.
DAC adapter - I'm conflicted. I'm still trying to decide whether or not the adapter sounds as good as my HTC 10. My initial impression is that it's not as good. The 10 has a cleaner, fuller soundstage. I'm really bummed about the BoomSound Dolby and tuning mode not being present on the U11. I've never really listened to the 10 without that mode on, so maybe that's the reason. The U11 doesn't sound bad though.
What do you guys think?

Pretty much this, most people will love it but I think anyone who had a HTC 10, an Axon 7, S7 Edge (Exynos, volume modded) will notice a bit of a step down. More so the AMP is weak rather than the DAC being bad (although Juan at PocketNow numbers show the DAC to be worse than the HTC 10, Axon 7, S7 Edge, iPhone 7).

I just compared the sound quality between my 10 (without BoomSound on) and the U11, and they do sound quite similar.
This leads me to my disappointment -- why did they remove the BoomSound frequency tuning from the U11? It's nice that they have it for the USonic earphones, but why would you need to create multiple audio profiles for those earphones, if there's literally only one pair of earphones that can take advantage of that feature.
I'll have my thoughts later today using a dt770 as my comparison between the 10 and 11. They normally require more power than my HD600. I don't use high impedance/low sensitivity HPs with phones anyway but I figured I'd test.

Wondering this as well, you can't edit the audio profiles anyway so what is the point in having more than one profile

Now in order to use my music at home, in car, and at work I now have to carry the cable around with me. It is not ideal to have to carry around an adapter. Getting the included earphones is cool (sound okay) but would rather received a total of 4 adapter cables.
I went to order 4 more and found out that they are in pre-order status. I'll just have to wait until they come in. Once I have an adapter everywhere then I won't be so pissy about it. Really wish they would have kept the 3.5mm, then phone would be considered my best phone ever.

There really was no need to remove it, only to use a worse DAC/AMP in the adaptor.

Great audio output
The HTC U11 did splendidly in the first part of our audio test. When hooked to an active external amplifier it delivered very loud and perfectly accurate output.
When headphones come into play the volume remains nicely high and the only reading to take a hit is stereo crosstalk. It's a moderate amount of damage there and will all the other aspects of the performance remaining excellent, it's a great showing overall.

My own personal experience, I found my DT770 to sound great but was 2 notches of volume below the 10. The 10 at volume 13/15 was the U11 at 15/15. I definitely can hear the crosstalk difference GSM has measured. Heard that before I saw the measurements. Overall, I can definitely live with this. Just hope I don't put myself in situations where I need to charge and listen.
My first impressions are that I'm not particularly impressed by the Usonic earphones - but then I don't usually use the earbuds that come with a phone.
Given the reviews here, I was a bit surprised to find the sound from the U11 adapter sounds better on first hearing than I was getting from the HTC 10, but then I haven't yet done a proper A-B comparison - it could be I was playing it a bit louder, or 'new device' enthusiasm...
As I said it already the 3.5mm adapter lacks Boomsound and this make a big difference with HTC 10, HTC can implement it in the FW of the adapter but we need to let them know we want it.

Agreed. I can see the logic behind HTC's decision, and I actually don't disagree with it. They dropped the headphone jack but added noise cancellation and a decent pair of earphones. This targets that iPhone userbase that only uses the awful in-box white ear buds. It's definitely better value for the money for the average user.
Perhaps they needed to compromise on sound quality, but it still sounds pretty fantastic with the adapter. It may not sound as good as the 10 (honestly though it's pretty close), but I'm not mad about it.
Which Boomsound speaker mode do you guys prefer? Music it theater mode? I feel like music more is crisper while tester is a bit longer but muddier.

I use theatre mode all the time but yes it is muddier than music mode which sacrifices volume for better audio quality
About stereo crosstalk can you ''fix'' it with V4A?
Or there are no way to enhance stereo?

I usually use theatre mode. If I'm playing through the speakers, volume is more important to me.
On another note, I'm having this horrible issue with BT audio. When playing music in google play music through BT earphones (jaybird x2) or my home speaker (LG soundbar), occasionally there's a really loud, awful screeching noise!
Anyone else have this issue?
Otherwise, BT audio is noticeably improved over the 10!

Was listening with aptX in my car for a while today and I had no issues along with noticing no difference. Same volume level when connected to an Audioengine B1 that has a 2 volt output to my Audison bit-Ten. Wish I could do a quicker back and forth test with my 10 but I'd have to sync the Bluetooth over and over.
I have to admit that I'm a little bit worried about the sound quality on the u11. One of the things that I really enjoyed on the m8 m9 and the 10 was the Dolby audio enhancement. I have been using that in combination with power amp music player for years and you'd be surprised what kind of sound quality I get out of my Sennheiser HD 558's. I can hear the bass in music the way it is meant to be heard, almost felt, I don't hear that distorted bass sound that you tend to hear on lower end devices.
This may sound stupid to some people but if the sound quality is not at least the same as what I get on my 10 then I'm going to send the phone back. I just got done trying out a $300 pair of Bluetooth headphones with my 10 and I was not impressed, they were close in some areas but for $300 I want more than close. There is a cheaper pair that I have been thinking about trying with the 11 but I'm not sure that I'm going to want to invest all of this money just to be able to say I own the new flagship, and get half decent sound out of it with headphones, especially when for all intents and purposes I'm perfectly happy with my 10.
Right before the phone ended up shipping out to me I was debating on canceling my order because once the feeling of new shiny device wore off I started the question what about the new phone actually got me excited and to be perfectly honest the answer for me is really nothing. I think edge sense could be cool but the apparent lack of support from case manufacturers has me a bit scared as well. I have never owned an all glass phone before and I don't think you could pay me enough to use this phone without any full-body protection I understand that the camera is much better but honestly I don't see a problem with the one that I have. So this could be the first year that I actually hang on to my phone.

What I can hear is Teetsy-fly tinniness, NO base, little or no mids and volume? You would need to be in a closet to carry on any conversation while using these ear buds. They are a total loss !
All I can say is these ear buds are the worst i have EVER tried to use and I can say they are TOTALLY NOT USABLE FOR ANY USE.
Wondering if I have a bad pair (defective in some way) or if others are finding what I have ?

All I can say is these ear buds are the worst i have EVER tried to use and I can say they are TOTALLY NOT USABLE FOR ANY USE.
Wondering if I have a bad pair (defective in some way) or if others are finding what I have ?

Go play with the equalizer and see if it sounds better to you. Also turn on Dolby Atmos.

All i can say is that besides what has been suggested above, it looks like it is faulty.
These AKG are imho very good (and i am rather difficult when it comes to sound quality), they are far better at least than the samsung iconX buds that i don't touch anymore.
Probably a problem with yours?? Or maybe you have some 3rd party sound apps ?
I'm very picky when it comes to sound quality, and I think the AKG earbuds sound pretty good (not as good as my Bose earbuds, but still). They get a little crunchy at high volume, but seeing as they get loud as hell, I don't use them maxed out lol.
Definitely sounds like a problem with your set. Probably just faulty, it's bound to happen with mass produced products. Maybe Samsung support can help you out somehow?
Your earbuds must indeed be defective, the ones that came with my note are good, not excellent, but good enough, as for max volume, you could try volume booster in playstore from developer goodev, it really works, system-wide, wired and bluetooth
Or buy the Samsung adapter and use your old ones
I agree with the OP, I was shocked how bad these were coming form AKG. I assumed since there were no comments on them here, that it was just accepted that they were crap. I don't really care as I only use my Icon X's and my Sony M3s but was surprised at the poor quality. I've turned on Dolby A, and adjusted bass up on the equalizer and there is no bass, the highs are soooooo tinny. I would never actually use these to listen to music except as last resort on a plane if my M3's died. Even my Icons are 100X better sounding than the AKG included.

I think yours are faulty OR 3rd party sound app messes with it, or a soft update that has not been done or whatever...
I'm a long time musician, i truely pay attention to sound quality and i think they are pretty good (for in-ears small earphones). I have the iconX 2018 and AKG are miles above them for sound quality.
Always thought iconX were crap btw... i like them because i can feel free, no wires, but your statement seems rather strange to me
Most likely you need to use the larger ear tips. No seal = no bass

Icon X are not great sound, that's my point. The AKGs SUCK. My backup workout BT headphones,(wireless Jelly's) are better than these things.
BTW Icons sound much better with on board mp3 than over BT, which is how I use most of the time as I use my M3s when not in the gym
Ear caps have same seal as my icons, and I ran all the firmware upgrades. Defective? maybe, but that just shows poor QC from AKG.
again, I don't care as I don't use wired headphones EVER, just expected them to sound better.

What I can hear is Teetsy-fly tinniness, NO base, little or no mids and volume? You would need to be in a closet to carry on any conversation while using these ear buds. They are a total loss !

You probably have a defective piece. Mine sound great out of the box. I have Galaxy Buds the wireless ones and to be honest, the AKG wired ones sound WAY better than my buds. I have Dolby Atmos on and tweaked the equalizer a bit.

Yep... I have been very surprised at the great sound these little AKG pull out. It is balanced and much details can be heard, miles better than my gear iconx 2018.
They are also way better as well as any piece of headset that came stock with my previous smartphones inc. samsungs.
Sound on youtube with AKG is very nice too, so is netflix etc. No problem with them, so you probably have faulty ones.
I think they sound decent I honestly prefer the AKGs I got with my S9+ however.
I think these ones soumd better than those my note8 came with, even the quality of materials feels a little better
To be honest, I feel the AKG earphones that come included are actually pretty good. Are they the best? No. Are they the worst? No.
Like others mentioned, probably a defective pair, software/config issue, source of music or even type of music can be causing the issue of poor sound quality. People who want to spend $50 or more for better sound quality, that great...but the included earphones are more than enough for the the general public. Yes, Samsung can include better earphones, but then they would probably increase the price of the Note 10. I would rather Samsung not include any earphones and give me a $10 discount, I'm sure the general public wouldn't agree with me on that.
To advise you...all accessories do have manufacturer warranty. IF they sound as HORRIBLE as you are describing, contact Samsung and they will replace with a new pair. Or you can spend money buying a better pair.
