Questions about debloating/updating the AT&T S7 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I have a sim-unlocked AT&T S7 phone that I have running wonderfully with my T-Mobile sim, no problems there.
My questions
1) I'm on the February build is there a way to update manually since About Phone > Update is saying my phone is up to date.
2) Other than package disabler, is there a way to flash a 'clean' version of the firmware? Without the AT&T bloat, or is the package disabler the best way to go?

You can ODIN flash the latest firmware to update (will lose data) .
Then you can root , and flash the U firmware over it and it will be unrooted , Samsung Pay and everything working , stock and all - debloated essentially .

Thank you for the heads up. This will be exactly what I do!

Is it possible to ODIN flash the stock T-Mobile ROM on the AT&T S7?

Just Odin the U firmware on. You don't have to Odin, root and Odin. That's senseless.

[Q] How to update to 5.0.1

Hi,
Im from the netherlands and noticed that the update for 5.0.1 is available.
I have the Exynos (N910C) version android 4.4.4 rooted installed now.
I have changed dpi settings true xposed.
What is the best way to update to the new version 5.0.1 ?
Thanks,
Roy
I have used the auto root to root the stock rom.
N910C is Exynos, not Snapdragon, so choose your ROM carefully.
Best way to upgrade is to backup everything first, then install new ROM with Odin (download correct version from sammobile), then root using your method of choice (I personally recommend flashing TWRP recovery and choose root on exit).
After that, you can restore everything you need from the backups.

Your device was rooted and no way to upgrade 5.0.1 via OTA. The only way now is download latest Firmware (for your Area) on Sammobile.com or similar website then using Odin to upgrade. Remember: full wipe on recovery first then flashing FW via Odin on Downloadmod.
Thanks for the awnsers. i meant the Exynos, sorry for that.
I havent tryed to update it true normal update way becouse i thought this wasnt possible as my device is rooted.
So i might try if i can do this?
Roy
OTA will fail because you tripped Knox when you rooted.
Besides, lollipop brings a new bootloader, modem and csc, so even if you choose to flash a custom lollipop ROM, you still need to upgrade those using Odin.

thanks,
I have installed the 5.0.1 version true odin without doing a full wipe. I still have all my apps and files and it seems to work oke.
Did i have to do a full because of the battery draining stuff? or is it oke like this?
Roy
Should be fine as it is, but a full wipe once in a while never hurts...
If you notice something wrong, battery drain, lag or even applications force-close, then why not... perform a full wipe and restore your apps and settings gradually.
Make sure you backup everything, i failed my stock update to android 5..0.1 (OTA), and now i still didnt found anyway to get my data back, it remains dead there
Titanium Backup FTW

[Q] Can't seem to find standard guide?

Hello,
It's been a long time since I've been these to these forums and an even much longer time since I last had to modify any kind of software on a phone. I recently upgraded to an S7 edge on Sprint and would like to know where to find the tools, roms, and files needed to go to the unlocked firmware version for the S7 edge and go back to Sprint's stock firmware if need be.
More importantly, I'd like to know what risks I encounter especially with Samsung's KNOX. Again, it's been a while so please don't flame.
Any information or direction is very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There's not much for roms echoe is pretty nice. It lags pretty hard but theirs a fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s7/how-to/guide-to-fix-s7-lag-root-s7-variants-t3441715
As far as firmware your somewhat limited as well depending on your current firmware you may only have the latest 935p and 935U to choose from.
P.s you don't have to worry about tripping Knox I've flashed xposed govtuner viper modified Odin tars that failed miserably I'm still 0x0
Thanks for getting back to me vegoja. So as far as flashing the firmware, where can I get the necessary files? I've seen some threads mentioning or linking the ROMs so I think I'm okay there. Also, I think I'm supposed to use a special version of Odin, not sure why. Lastly, where do I get all those other necessary files like the CSC etc.?
Thanks.

Once you flash the U firmware, you can't currently go back to sprint's firmware. Something to do with the upgraded bootloader. But the U firmware is stable and smooth and has good battery performance. You can enable hotspot to without root which is a perk.
Odin: http://d-h.st/gsDA
935U PI3: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzXeLw4AsxZHZlM1OTJZYXBOQW8/view
Flash AP, BL, CP and CSC (not Home_CSC).

Hi nghia0423 and Soooperstar,
Thanks for getting back to me. So to make sure I have this correct...I can flash a 935U firmware on my phone and go back to Sprint stock firmware, but it has to be PJ2.
If this is the case, then I have a few additional questions if you don't mind. First, do the AP, BL, CSC, and CP files differ between firmware versions? If so, where do I get those files for each version?
Second, if I go back to Sprint stock firmware PJ2 (which I assume is located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...rmware-g935p-pe1-official-sprint-6-0-t3414654), will I then be able to follow the standard firmware upgrade path by allowing system updates and going through the standard update process?
Lastly, is there some risk I'm missing or haven't addressed? If I go to unlocked firmware I want to make sure I can always go back to the current Sprint stock firmware.
Thank you again for all the help and information!

Both pathways - 935P firmware & 935U firmware - offer updates via OTA. They're both official Samsung pathways. As of right now, the 935P pathway offers more frequent updates (monthly) opposed to 935U's mostly every other month update cycle.
The most current firmwares on the 935P & 935U pathways are on the same bootloader version. Therefore, one can flash back and forth with no issues. I recently came to PJ2 935P from PI3 935U so I could download the Nougat beta.
The benefit of the 935U firmware is the lack of bloatware which leads to higher performance, smoother UI, better battery life, and easy to add Hotspot functionality.

Hi optimummind,

Thanks!

Flash Android 7.0 T-Mobile S7 ROM on AT&T S7

Hello,
I currently have an unlocked G930A that is running on 7.0, I am using the T-Mobile carrier and I would like to flash to the T-Mobile rom. I know it was possible on marshmallow but I couldn't find any posts regarding 7.0.
If I follow these instructions

Thanks bro! You know which version of Odin to use? I'm on 3.12.3 and it's giving me invalid sha md5 error. File is fine. Other guy mentioned Odin from Verizon thread. Couldn't find it
Edit: Found it! It's PrinceComsy Odin 3.12. It worked perfectly! However, now my fingerprint sensor doesn't work. Is that because I didn't flash bootloader? If I flash just bootloader, will it still wipe the system?
Edit 2: Goddamnit Samsung Pay isn't working either. Says I made unauthorized modifications.
Final Edit: So apparently you have to flash Bootloader as well to get Samsung Pay and fingerprint sensor to work.
Basically, Download PrinceComsy's 3.12 Odin from Verizon Root thread. Then flash the latest G930T ROM from SamMobile. Tick BL, AP, CP, AND CSC. Make sure you ran Odin with admin privileges. It'll wipe internal SD so back that up.

Cannot update to Nougat - G935V

I purchased this phone a while ago and I have Straight Talk and don't have any updates of any kind through it since around September. I'm assuming it's because the phone is not directly with Verizon. I've rummaged through everything and seen the possibility and instructions for installing the update.zip onto the SD card and trying to manually install it but the install fails saying it's trying to find a newer version of the installed software.
I currently have G935VVRS4APH1 on the phone and it's looking for a newer version of the software. Is there any way I can work around this?
My last phone had CyanogenMod and I enjoyed it (RIP) but I'm not really all too keen on dealing with rooting and installing a ROM on this phone because... it works. It works now... but it's about the security concerns and about newer features.
Any help?
with straighttalk you will never get updates you will always have to do them manually with odin heres the link for the files you need https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/odin-stock-nougat-firmware-t3570156
you can use either the Samsung U-variant(less bloatware) or the normal Verizon both should work fine just flash it through odin
heres the link for odin I forgot my bad

Downgrade from Oreo to Nougat? [SM-G950F]

So yesterday I updated from Nougat (not rooted) to Oreo. After I updated I had some issues with my SIM. Basically most of the time I get "Out of service/Not registered in the Network". The SIM is working fine in other Phones. Already tried a reformat (with Stock Recovery) did not help.
So can I just use Odin v3.12 and the S8 Nougat files and flash them?
Will it brick If I do it?
The Oreo Firmware (and my phone) has no carrier. (DBT, Germany)
Same goes for the Nougat Firmware.
Thanks
