Eonon Android 4.4.4 head unit - BUZZING MICROPHONE! - Android Head-Units

Hi just received an "EONON" android head unit that I bought on ebay.
It is the KLD RK3188 Android 4.4.4 version with no DVD player.
The unit is great, except for one major issue. The microphone is useless, both the internal and external mic produce very loud continuous buzzing both in phone calls and in Android apps.
I saw some others had some issues similar to this on other units, but I have not seen anyone mention this on this specific one.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?
I have tried a usb mic, but I can't get the device to use it as default.
Any advice would be appreciated!!

Its not an Eonon, they are just re-sellers, its a Klyde unit, they are all the same basic unit apart from screen size and front design and whether they are dual or quad core, read the main HuiFei thread, specifically the first page for a solution to the problem (You DONT want to use a USB mic as it probably contains a sound card so ALL Android sound will be diverted to it).

Thanks for the tip.
I actually was able to fix it by following that solution. I removed capacitor C32 and connected an external mic directly to the bluetooth module.
Phone calls are great now, Android is still using the internal mic with the crappy audio, but it seems like it would be difficult to fix and it works at least well enough for some basic voice commands which is all I need.

Hi
Burnaby BC, is your unit KLD ?
if so can you explain what you did ?
I understand that you have to remove capacitor C32 but what I don't understand is how did you do the second part(connect external mic directly to the BT module.)
thanks

Yes my unit is a Klyde (KLD) unit.
Look at C32, it should be next to the bluetooth module (unfortunately I don't have a picture).
Follow the trace that connects C32 to the input on the bluetooth module.
Once you remove C32, connect the microphone positive lead (+) to that input.
Then connect the microphone ground/negative (-) lead to ground or a case screw.
This will fix the bluetooth phone call audio.

thanks a lot man

Any help please!!!
I recently installed eonon headunit. I was able to mirror my s7 edge onto the head unit. I updated my s7 to android 7 and now i cant mirror the two unit anymore.
I can use bluetooth to stream audio on phone to headunit

I can answer for I40 and the only way to get a descent Bluetooth is to modify the HU according
to the specific thread in this forum. Both HU's carry the same problem.
Be careful when you order to get the correct screen ie. 1024. They sometimes specify it as optional.
Also verify if you have a factory amplifier. If you have, you need another loom and an analog/SPDIF box.
They are cheap compared to the big guy's, so don't expect miracles. They still work.
I've four units for different cars similar to yours.
Can you point out the thread with the HU modification that improves Bluetooth?
The original Hyundai amplifier only takes spdif as an input? Intresting i dont see other i30 owners which use an android HU mention that.
You are right on the optional 1024 (usually extra 25$).
Iam most intrested not in the bluetooth mobile -> head unit connection but more in getting the audio from the original mic (just above the drivers head) connected to the HU. I feel this way i have less of the aftermarked look (additional mic) and also better audio since the original mic is pretty much in the perfect spot.
I guess i can solder whatever connection the original mic has to my headunit. But there might electrical issues or the mic cable be part of some strange car bus system which will it make hard to figure outand connect.
I don't have a hyundai, but I've put aftermarket units in 2 different cars w/ mics and both had the same problem - they are active mics that have noise cancelling & can't be used w/ these HUs. BUT, you can still easily disconnect the microphone from where it is located and put the aftermarket external mic in its place. My car is a 2014 mazda 6, and my OEM mic was in my overhead where my dome lights are. The panel was held in by 2 screws where the sunglasses drop down. I drop those 2 screws, disconnect the mic from its connector, and pull the mic out (it had some weak adhesive around it, very easy to take out). I then ran my external mic up my a-pillar and mounted it exactly where my factory mic was located. Sound quality is very good, everyone can still hear me okay. and everything looks stock.
Just buy a unit w/o BT issues (avoid MTCB units unless they have fixed this... others seem okay).
Are the units in my original post MTCB units?
What is the reason the active noise canceling microphones can not be used?

I didn't check your links so you'll have to check for yourself. An active mic will need to be powered, so you'll need to know the correct voltage and supply it somehow. I doubt it's 12V that you can use directly from the unit but you never know. Read it with a meter.
I guess theoretically you could make it work in that case.

New Joying 5.1.1 Bluetooth calling audio terrible.

I just purchased a new 7" Joying 5.1.1 mtcd unit. The audio during a Bluetooth call is awful. It comes through so broken up I can barely understand the person talking to me. It's not my phone either because I tried another Bluetooth headset and it worked fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Per mtcb thread, the same mic issues exists as almostevery cheap chinese head unit, including the wince units. The solution is to physically and electrically disconnect the internal microphone and connect a quality external microphone. Forget the cheap Chinese external mics and source a local lapel electret microphone. The difference will be night and day! Installation is important too - suggest mounting on steering column or (best) pointing back toward driver near rear view mirror (window acts as a parabolic reflector.) Keep away from sides/side window to minimise road noise.

I have read a little about that and it seems that will only fix the outgoing sound(my voice). Will it help the incoming sound that I get from whoever I am talking to on the phone?

This might help the incoming sound if the outgoing is really bad as some outgoing is mixed. The mic mod exponentially improves outbound audio so suggest making the modification and testing your results.
I bought a 7" Carjoying (Android 4.4.4 kitkat; CPU: RK3188 1.6GHz Cortex A9 Quad Core) last january for my 98 ford ranger. While running wires for the GPS, I went ahead and installed the external mic(came with the unit) on my sun visor. People have no issues hearing me, unless I'm on the freeway with the window down. I did not disconnect the head unit mic.

"seicane" aliex - PX3 7.1.2 Bluetooth music A2DP quality poor

Hi guys..
Well first of all how I wish I'd checked these forums first before buying as I wouldn't have, second I wish I'd at least bought from the UK as I'd get some support. But hey ho I didn't and I'm stuck with it as returning to china seems to risky after the message suggested returning at a value of $70 so they don't get taxed and also making sure its sent by EMs so it doesn't get lost in transit like many units do at customs!!
So I bought what seemed to be an all singing all dancing unit from seicane store on ali express, for my seat ibiza mk5. According to the system info via root check app it's a px3, 7.1.2 android, rock chip, rk30sdk.
Amongst many other problems my main one is the Bluetooth audio quality over A2DP is horrendous, and it's not an amp problem as over aux or USB it's perfect. I've been looking at airplay using air bubble app and personal hotspot but it's too long to load and unstable I only drive 15 min to work so just want fast music to my ears! I've considered getting a Bluetooth transmitter and sticking it in the aux input but not ideal.
Anyone got suggestions as to what the issue may be and if it can be resolved?
Thanks in advance hope I can get this stable one day!
mine is also horrendous, and I also have a very short drive. Connecting a hotspot and launching app and getting a song, takes just too long for me. I'm basically already at my destination by the time I get it up. My workaround was to do what you said, and get a bluetooth transmitter and sticking to the aux, because aux sounds fine, but just bluetooth over a2dp sounds so bad, and has this distorted high end sound. This solution worked for me for awhile, but the only downside is you don't get song information on the head unit to display, which is a tad annoying for me.
I've contacted my radios reseller, and they're just ridiculously helpless, all they do is keep sending me a "software" update to fix it, but it does nothing. I've been searching for over a year for a solution, but have found nothing to fix it, other than what I just said. Problem was still there even when I used custom roms. SO I don't really think its a software issue, maybe some kind of hardware I can replace or modify, but I just really have no clue.

Yeh I've ruled out airplay as an option,
you've got me interested though as you're in a similar boat as me so hopefully can help, do you have the exact same unit for an ibiza or?
And yes thats exactly whats annoying me not getting track info, may as well just use the original head unit if i get a bluetooth transmitter!! which transmitter did you get? i've got a really cheap basic one years old and its got a high pitched whining noise in between song skips so its there just muffled out by songs playing, I'm wondering if thats probably just a cheap receiver I've got..
I'll try get somewhere with the hardware see about a new bluetooth module but no idea on the interface would be total guess work and risky at that, not even sure how to safely root this one.
Other issues i'm having which may be common and you may know? I got a dash cam which cam with a yellow RCA, an Acc+ wire, a ground wire and a 12V wire.. i don't understand why its got an Acc+ and a 12V, i thought similar things both transmit power just one off the ignition being on only? theres no 12v out wire on the head unit except 'cam pow' which I've tried to no avail. I plan on recording direct to the SD card on the camera.
Subwoofer out, does this work on our units? i bought it because i plan adding a 4 channel amp for F/R speaks and a sub amp for a single sub.. but does the rca not work / no amplifier control over it?!
Cheers hope to get somewhere with this as i feel a bit down that its not all singing all dancing like i expected lol.
i have a Seicane with Android 6.0 already, which I dont really have any problems with, but it is not PX3

Well the 6.0 version is totally different hardware
it is a known issue that no one seems to have a fix for. Im having this same issues with my PX5 Dasaita unit and had this issue on a previous Xtrons unit aswell. I believe it is a problem with the bluetooth drives not supporting the higher bitpools of recent bluetooth updates hence the bad quality. Ive even tried installing a USB bluetooth dongle but could not get the unit to recognize it.

Well I also have a Dasaita PX5 and I definitely didn't have a problem on that one. I would listen to Bluetooth audio on it pretty regularly.
Quick from Hot Audio did email me and ask about it, saying they had heard complaints, and sent me a new harness, but I haven't needed it

Well i've gone an ordered a car play dongle, so hopefully that will be a solution for good radio and a more functional nav at the same time.
Any tips for the dash cam guys? i ordered the 3 cable power one rather than a usb to keep the slots free.. not sure where i should hook them up to. (12V yellow, Acc+ red, black Grnd), i've only got an acc+ on the back of the harness and ground i made an earth wire to the car. Left the 12v off and it doesn't turn on. but my unit doesn't have a 12v, only acc+ or cam pow.
Got a pic or link to the camera you got?
So i have this camera..
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/140...32812106756.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.MXwOS4
and this unit..
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Aft...32827061575.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.MXwOS4
The seller said to connect acc+ to acc+ on the unit, 12v to the cars 12v and grnd to the cars ground. I made an earth for the ground just to a screw towards the rear inside of the dash, but not sure where i'll safely take 12v from? especially with the car having a can bus if i splice any wires that may cause an error? Surely these units put out a 12v signal somewhere?
heres the wiring diagrams... https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1z7DmnMn.PuJjSZFk763_lpXaZ.png
Also another Q regarding using an external amplifier for speakers and a sub.. is there an issue with the actual volume sent to the amps and can this be resolved? depending what input i give the head unit the volume differs, aux a lot quieter than usb stick or bluetooth.. but even both of them at volume 30 neither are really very loud where you here the speakers distorting, with a standard radio or branded head unit towards top end the speakers would distort so i can set a 'safe' max limit, my concern is the android head unit will limit the amp? and i've seen no info on rooting these units for viper4audio if that would help.
Thanks
Edit: how would i check if the 'cam-pow' wire is putting out 12v with a multimeter? just hold one probe to the wire and touch a ground point with the other?
BT & USB Support on PX5
Guys,
Sorry to tell you, the ROMS are very stripped down and as a result, the only support will be for the listing of BT modules that are on the main board and only for the ones list in the setup. You will not be able to add an external usb BT module to the head unit, it will not reconize them, and therefor will not work. Same with other USB devices. All support has been stripped out of the firmware. Some of these company's are getting slick enough to modify the firmware even more to only support devices that they sell, locking you into buying there junk. Good Luck! I had a BT problem with a Seicane Head Unit, and tried every possible, BT usb module only to find out what they do. Anyone want to purchase BT usb modules cheap!!!!!!

Ideas for Mic

Hi Everyone,
So I need some guidance or ideas, I must find a solution to improve my actual MIC for my car.
Today I have a simple mic connected to my phone, but the sound is awful.
I Have this unit in my car ( Suzuki SX4 ):
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32911968314.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.4d661802UpSIO6
unfortunately, this unit doesn't have an AUX port,
so I'm trying to combine something to the back ( see picture attached),
I don't know if I connect something to port 1 or 2 it will work.
So anyone who has the same problem or have some ideas
I will really appreciate it.
Thank you all
Is it an FYT based unit. You're going to need to do some work..
Also, clarify question, whatis it
That's not an FYT, it's an Allwinner T3_P3. It doesn't look like it supports an external MIC, so soldering is probably required to tap into the internal mic contact points if that's even possible.

No Mic input on Idoing head unit for 2017 Subaru WRX STI

Forgive me if this has been asked / answered before, but I did lots of searching and didn't find it, potentially due to my head unit being known under another name?
The Car and Setup:
* 2017 WRX STI with Harmon Kardon system
* Stock except for the head unit
* Bought the IDoing Head Unit 2015-2021 WRX / STI for Harmon Kardon (from WRXDaily)
* Followed Smeedia and Boost&Shutter video guides to swap out the old head unit and install the new one.
* Ran external mic up the A-pillar
* CAM-BUS decoder is installed
* HU shows as sprd ums512_1h10_natv
* CPU is UIS7862 Octa-Core 2.0 GHz, with 4GB Memory 64GB Storage
* MCU 2021.04.26 15:40:55 PSTAR_53_L6315_G23P48F64_V:1.0
* Android 10, Build number QP1A.190711.020
* I believe this is an FYT unit, more info here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...unisoc-ums512-q-a-mods-tips-firmware.4396339/
Troubleshooting Attempted:
* Triple-checked that the cables were all plugged in correctly across the whole link and had no pinches
* Rebooted the head unit, re-connected the phone
* Ensured that all other functionality works (Android Auto Wired and Wireless, sound, backup camera, etc)
* Tested mic with a variety of apps, both with android auto and the head unit standalone.
* Tested with a variety of methods of activating the mic
* Looked for software option to enable it, didn't find it.
* All work resulted in the mic not appearing to pick up anything
* Went to Factory menu in settings (PW is 3368) and enabled the 'mic' option; no change
So what I'm wondering is if there is a software option needed to enable the mic, or I'm dealing with a hardware issue?
I suppose I could yank the mic out and plug it into another device, but before I do so, if anyone with some experience here could redirect me, what would be very helpful. Thank you in advance, and let me know what additional information you need.
Update: Added what I've learned about the head unit in case anyone else searches this post, and additional troubleshooting attempted.
Test the mic with PC or laptop first, Android may not register mic at all if mulfunctioned.
Thank you! I'll try this out; not looking forward to taking the dash apart again
Update: Haven't yet had a chance to test the mic with another device; poor weather + busy schedule + lack of desire to take dash apart have delayed. I do have a local expert who is checking if he has a 'known good' mic that I can also try

Ok, I've torn up my dash again. thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions on the mic. Here are the results of my testing. Device details again for reference: iDoing FYT unit UIS7862 MCU 2021.04.26 15:40:55 PSTAR_53_L6315_G23P48F64_V:1.0
Validated External Mic by removing the 3.5mm jack and plugging it into the 3.5mm jack on both a microsoft surface tablet and an old Moto Z play
On the moto Z play, the phone was able to register voice via google assistance. The phone is on its last legs and died, so I switched to the surface
On the surface, I made a test call to a friend in discord, changed from the surface internal mic to the iDoing external mic during the call; friend could hear me and noticed the audio change. I also made 2 recordings, one with the iDoing external mic and one with the Surface internal mic. They sounded different but I could hear both
fully disconnected the harness from the back of the iDoing head unit and downloaded a voice recorder app directly to the head unit (phone was not paired)
Recording 1: Internal mic, "back MIC switch" in Factory menu set to "OFF - Front Mic"
Recording 2: internal mic, "back MIC switch in Factory menu set to "ON - back Mic"
firmly plugged in the harness in the correct spot (it was fully seated) and re-connected the external mic
Recording 3: external mic, "back MIC switch" in Factory menu set to "OFF - Front Mic"
Recording 4: external mic, "back MIC switch in Factory menu set to "ON - back Mic"
zero of the recordings picked up any sounds.
So my conclusions are that one, the external mic does work, and 2, either the iDoing head unit doesn't understand mic input, I have failed to enable it properly, or BOTH the harness and the internal mic are dead.
Any advice?
Last resort - use app called LESSER AUDIO SWITCH , download and install from Google Play store , there inside app you can set input and output for speakers and mic

The other idea I'm going to try is a USB mic, since I do have USB inputs

I am suspecting a VERY strange software issue. Any other ideas?

This is the main setting I've been toggling; I'll get a list of the other settings later today
Ok i literally couldn't find another setting that was remotely relevant.
This thing is borked at the software level. Probably gonna return
Why is front mic off ?

That's the setting that I have toggled. On or off makes zero change
hardware problem or internal mic disconnected

yup. I will wait for IDoing to respond
UPDATE:
IDoing finally got back to me. They claim there is a bluetooth bug causing this issue, and gave me 2 files to "update" the driver. They sent me videos of someone plugging in UBS and the update just 'happening'. I doubt it's that simple. Has anyone performed this update, and if so, could they advise me on how to do so properly? Thanks in advance

I think you must import those drivers from factory settings, there is import button.
Thanks! I tried this; successfully updated bluetooth, but no change in the mic. I am not surprised.
