TL;DR - this guy claims (and seems to have posted screenshots of) nearly 8 hours screen-on time, fully stock.

He says he's getting almost 8 hours of screen-on time at 40% brightness and he's completely stock -- and your response is "so what"?
I am not sure how it's possible, what the guy is claiming.

yup, so what? what does his battery life have to do with my life? nothing!
battery life is completely personal, depends how you use the device, what you install, your setup, and your signal quality.
As long as battery life isn't completely horrible, I can live with whatever I get. I have a 13,000 mah portable charger, a car charger, a charger at home, and one at work. Not worried.
I never got 4+ SOT with all kind of battery saving techniques.
Unfortunately it's really easy to fake this. Not saying he's been dishonest. I applaud his tweaking if it is legit

Why would you want to partialy disable and cripple a near perfect device for another hour of screenontime? Realy, ever heard of powerbanks

My phones battery decided to increase in size for the last two days and now i have replaced it. Does anyone know why this happens and what I can do in the future to avoid it?

Ya my note 3 did the same thing, i thought it was tye battery caz of the 8 dollar price. That is the conclusion i came up with too the phone was never really hot and 2 of those batteries swelled up making them unusable. I did upgrade the battery didnt have any more swell. I would like to know how that does happen though, i thought i was the onlu person that ran into this im glad read this post and hopefully can get an answer as im very curious if it was the type of battery or if was kernel. I cant remember the kernel i had but thought might be from putting too much speed in my rom.

Yeah. I want to know this too. These days i have been swapping between stock and cm 12.1 and on stock the battery amp ranges from 1200mah to 1800mah but on cm12.1 it always stayed at 1800mah and also phone got hot. It may be due to that or it may be because discharged this battery once to zero and then recharged it to 100 and then jump charged a couple of times. A lot of factors and this one was abused a lot so I can't put my finger on exactly what I did that caused this.
I just got my phone and the battery life looks like s***

Note: I haven't charged to a 100% yet. Just got the phone and it had 25%~ battery off the box
So what is the problem?
If you check the screenshots uploaded by other people about their battery life, you'll see that mine is WAY lower.

I'll test it out for a day or two. If the battery remains like this, I'll ask for a replacement.
This thread is so foolish. You got a phone with 25% battery, have probably been playing around with it, syncing everything, having the phone settle in, haven't fully charged it, and you're complaining about battery?
Do you also give 1 star reviews in the play store because an app that clearly says needs root, won't work on your non rooted phone? EVERY phone has to settle in. No phone is going to give you 5 hours screen on time with 25% battery from a fresh out of the box setup. Your expectations are way too high lol.
Give it time before you complain man, come on.
Hey, everyone
I am sorry, I haven't bought a new phone in 4 years. I had forgotten about how to bench phones. I wasn't complaining, I just wanted to know if I should be worried.
Just give it a day or two. It'll come around
Since I see so much Ignorant in the Battery thread, I like to point out (rant) some things..
1. A person 6 hour of Screen On Time usage is different from person to person.
2. Temperature can have a great affect on battery life.
3. Signal strength can have a great affect on battery life.
So with that in mind, I suggest everyone try to do a PC Mark bench, it is fair and give people a much better idea of what of what they should be getting. To do this test here are the few settings you need to set
1. BRIGHTNESS AT 23-25% (EYEBALL IT)
2. Wifi on
3. do not disable Mobile data or sync
4. Clear all RAM before start
below are the CONTROL numbers from a stock rom (pictures are from greenbot.com)

Below is my stat, using arter kernel and foreverloco rom. (I DO UNDERVOLT MY KERNEL) ambient is about 20C
I get what I get based on MY real world usage. I don't need synthetic benchmarks or software to tell me anything. Why do people obsess about this so much?

To see if your phone performing at optimum settings. The problem is there is no set controls or way to bench it properly and this is the way how.
Why this benchmark is useless? Let's say we have two Edge+, under this benchmark CPU on both runs at 1GHz all the time and both last for 8h. Now imagine that one device runs program/service that keeps waking up the device every few minutes and the other goes and stays into deep sleep without any problems. Benchmark might show no difference or just slight difference. In real life 1 device will get 6h sot during 48 h usage, the other one will get 3h sot and run out of juice in less than 24h.
Good benchmark should simulate at least 24h usage with breaks to test standby drain as well.

WTF is going on with my battery? I have the S7 Flat snapdragon version (G930v) running the G930u software unrooted which removes all carrier bloat. Screen brightness is set to a little past half way. I have all setting provided by stock software optimized for maximum battery life other than running AOD. I am running a black Wallpaper/Lockscreen/ and an All black theme from the Theme Engine.. I Repeat, I have all stock firmware options Optimized for battery. Every single one. Wth hell is going on here. My battery time is looking Rediculous in comparison. Someone help me out here.

I feel asleep around 3am I guess with 89% and woke up just now close to 11. Heres battery over that 8hr period. 5% during that time. Standby drain is not bad it seems. But only 10hrs on 100% is crazy low compared to what some of you guys are getting.
End of Trial:
What can I do to get this increased.?
4.5 Hr of SOT is very Good. I am on the U firmware also and get 3 SOT. When you make comparisons, compare to SD Soc not the Samsung Exnos. You can download Gsam Battery and give it more permissions thru ADB and monitor. I noticed my proximity sensor (2) are giving high wakelocks.
The SD vs Exnos makes that much of a difference? I'm seeing people get 5.5-6.5screen on time in the main s7 thread. Granted not many relay the information as to weather they have SD/Exnoys or Flat/Edge.
4.5 hours when compared to 6 average over there, eh to me that's on the low end. I'd be losing my mind if I was only getting 3SoT.
I miss removable battery functionality.
Do you guys leave your screens on 24/7 or something? I use my phone quite a bit, but get 24 hours to a charge.
Is this ok?
At this brightness level plus I have turned off buttons backlight.

I get around 4 hours sot when I get home, here is my day with my phone.
730am start streaming audio books through Bluetooth facebook sms email.
4pm stop streaming books 75% battery.
5pm games facebook email sms.
10pm bed time, end the day with 330 to 4 hours sot and 15%battery remaining.
I bought this 9T a few months ago. I think the SOT I had at first was about 10 hours, which is OK but I've seen better, but now after 3 months of usage it barely achieves 5 hours and the "Cell standby" rating—which I'm not sure what it stands for—is always at the top of the battery drainage list.
What's wrong with this phone? This makes no sense.

This is the cell/modem connexion 4G network.
You made use 2 times 20% of heavy data use in very short time (check it on the curve).
Check the same application you did with a wifi connexion because it can be your network 4G that is weak and lead to this heavy drain.
There are some draining problems in Miui lately. Something is causing this, that's the reason I skipped Xiaomi this time after years of using it.
"TechTablets" review of MiNote 10 also confirmed this. Basically you buy a phone with a beefy battery, but not getting the expected battery life.
I tried everything to sort this out, but it wasn't giving me any results. This was not the case with previous Xiaomi devices, like Mi8...

You said "lately". Yes but latest android 10 eu rom have a much better behavior.
Nlp wakelock is almost stopped and standby drain is lower than 0.5%/h (without AOD)
AOD at day consume some 1% additional.
MiNote10 was reported heavy consumer because of the camera needs.
they will improve at Xiaomi, not overnight but surely.
You'll come back to MIUI.
