Some nightlies ago, call recording feature was introduced in CM11.
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/69850/
For legal reasons, this isn't enabled by default.
To enable it, edit build.prop and reboot.
Code:
persist.call_recording.enabled=true
persist.call_recording.src=4
You will get a recording button while in a call. Playback of records can be done in call history.
Please report if it works.
Notice that it will work only for newer ROMs (mostly nightlies)

not tried, would say not yet
as I see only in CM11 nightlies until now.
In the next releases the feature should be integrated in CM11 stable and then CM11S.
note that I have not tried yet as I am currently not on nightly.
Feel free to look whether the properties exist

that's great news
i thought Cyanoge will not bring this feature coz it's illegal in some countries
I'm on 33R and I tried it... it did nothing. I made one call and saw no additional options, and I received a call with the same result.
I'm on the latest nightly build 0902, adding those lines to build.prop did nothing, no call record button appears.
thank u vry much for ur reports !

strange... on some/many other devices it already works. would be good if the properties would already be there without having to add them.
are the added properties still there after rebooting?
will try myself tomorrow

Of course it did nothing. It's only just been merged into recent nightlies.

Yea, this isn't working :/

[ DEVICE : N5 ] [ ROM : CrDROID ] [ KERNEL : BIGBUM ]
There are 2 xposed modules to enable this feature without the 2 lines above, doing so on CM11S will do nothing, and you will see in xposed log an error that it was not successful, which is logical because this has not been integrated in CM11S (and i guess it will not, as most of the countries were OnePlus is sold prohibit call recording).
on CM11 builds after nightly 14/08 it will show an extra button.
so...
- If you are using CM11S (the official OnePlus ROM), this will NOT work
- If you are using CM11 monthly (currently M9), this will NOT work
- If you are using CM11 nightly after 20140814, this will show the extra button, will it work? i haven't tried recording.. yet
The values stayed there after a reboot...
Too bad xposed is required, I don't use it and this feature would definitely not justify installing it.
Sept 2nd buid doesn't have the properties in it.
But I can't test any further cause I don't have this phone any more (sold it^^ too big)
This thread may be interesting:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm11s-will-be-internal-2-way-call-recording-possible.3297/
i'd also like to see this functionality on the 11s
Be warned, if the person on the other end is in some states or countries, recording them without consent is illegal.
Guys will the OnePlus have call recording built in eventually so an app isn't needed?

Yes, you can do it easily by installing the Xposed module RecEnabler
You dont need xposed module.
You need what OP edited, and call record program. You can find it here on xda. It will work fine with caf root methood, select bacon(!) not oneplus from list or you will have distortion. This is for nighly.
Users confirmed Boldbeast call Recorder works very well for CM11 on many phones, for example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...corder-galaxy-htc-t2923904/page3#post57087069
Boldbeast call Recorder works perfectly for the stock One Plus One ROM (need root), I guess the app works also for CM11 on One Plus One. Can anyone please test it? Thanks.

There are WM roms with built-in call auto recording feature that does a great job in call recording. For android, all apps does call recording via speaker phone instead of in call recording. AirVoice is the only app I know that does a perfect call recording within the call and not with speaker phone on. However, HD2 is not supported.
Now, other android devs for other devices are successful in achieving perfect call recording: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451
Is there any devs that can spare a few moment in making this to work on HD2?
Thanks to all devs for making Android runs on HD2
+1 for this request.. generally I have to switch to WM6.5 for this basic feature

Yes, I understand what you mean. The low volume is due to the recording method. Instead of recording directly from within the phone, it records using the phone's mic for both in and out voices. This makes the volume low for listening the other person's voice and very loud for my own speaking voice.
i oso hope tis will work on HD2~hope some1 manage to fix it~
any recent update of the 2 way call recording in android?
Looking for this as well.. Tested ALL Android apps i could find (free, trial, warez), and none have 2 way call recording without using speakerphone.
At the moment this is preventing me to switch to Android fully, because i need those calls logged and recorded..
Speakerphone works, but quality is just not as good, and there is a lot of noise in background. And, doesn't keep the conversation as private as it should..
Hope someone gets it to work..
It's not an HD2 specific request, Android simply does not support call recording, there's no API. It's a touchy subject because of privacy issues - yes, most other OS'es have it but that doesn't change anything, Google's wary about it.
Until this is changed - or custom bases like CM (they've actually been talking about it very recently) incorporate it, not gonna happen.
I'm sure on MIUI there's "call tools" and from there you can record?

Ah, I wasn't aware. MIUI is a custom base too though, which means that until other bases have this too, a MIUI rom is the only option of having call recording. Can't be done without changing the framework.

If you don't mind me asking, are there any other custom base ROMs? New and want to try out some cool looking ROMs.

CM and MIUI are the most-spread custom bases. CM has a lot of 'sidebases', they're basically the same save for a few changes here and there.
DesireHD Sense for example is also another base, but not really custom.

I installed android a few days ago on NAND on hd2.
I was having the same problem, couldnt find a normal 2 way call recorder.
BUT I FOUND IT!
I merged some packs together into one file.
First install the .apk inside of it. If that doesnt work try to install one of the 3 zips.
It worked for me. . The other side is even louder than you, so should be able to be heard.

How and where to install these zip files
The link posted above is dead. Is there any other solution that works for HD2 with modern kernels like Fikret's 2.16 ?
2 Way Call Recording (2WCR) has been available for HD2 for a while now. Check Tytung's kernel thread for link to a working app. All recent kernels support the feature.
Swyped from my HTC HD2 (ICS 4.0.4)
I'm the author of rVoix app capable of recording the calls directly from line on msm7k-based devices (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=806451).
The problem which haunted me long was that my Hero just rebooted on each incoming call when I tried to use the "Auto-answer" mode in my app.
Recently, I've located the kernel bug behind that, but before I even tried to fix it, I found that the fix is already present in some kernels (notably, HTC tattoo).
In all newer HTC kernels it re-appeared both in 2.6.29 and all later versions .
So, I'd be very grateful if you include the patch I'm attaching here. The reason is that I'm now trying to implement some advanced auto-answering features which would be a waste of time as far as they'd work on a single Hero device (and on certain others).
Hope I'm not asking for too much.
Also, please have a look at our project http://code.google.com/p/rvoix: it has a branch by seo who managed to integrate the rvoix call recording in his Espresso ROM for Magic. The in-call recording controls (which are very inconvenient in my app) are built in Phone.apk directly, app settings -- in Settings.apk, etc.
Currently, the branch includes magic-specific smali patches, but he promised to write a review on how to integrate call recording features more conveniently.

Just out of interest, I remember using an app like this in 1.5 and 2.1, and it recorded the sound from the internal datastream iirc.
I can't remember the name, but this sounds interesting, though I personally don't record as many calls recently as I used to... will give it a shot though

Yes, in the beginning was the app called AirVoice, but its author seemed to close his project, and wouldn't respond to any pleas to share the code.
Anyhow, I used his key trick in my app.
New version at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1528084
Hi,
First of all, sorry for posting this in general forum, but as you can see this is my first post...
This is a snapshot of my work on bringing camera support to Tezet's Milestone2 ICS port.
This build is not intended for daily use. The camera crashes when changing mode to video or panorama, and when exiting Camera app (though this is not visible ). But preview is working (as far as I know this is better than Defy), and I took ~20 photos in a row without problems.
Regarding the build itself:
- it's based on CM9 snapshot from Feb 25
- there's a bug with contacts showing as "Unknown" in the dialer (while you dial). As far as I know it is the same on latest Defy builds, so I assume this is an upstream bug from CM9
- it may contain more (or less) bugs from Tezet's builds. It's simply different, though I use builds from my branch since early January on daily basis
- the fix for SIM lock pin is not included
- it should be possible to load this without factory reset on top of Tezet's builds and the other way around, though the last time I've tried this was two weeks ago...
- there's no need to wipe dalvik cache - the update script does this
The work is based on Atrix ICS camera support, with added overlay emulation.
What is working:
- live preview
- zooming
- flash
- focus
- exposure compensation etc
- taking photos
- ... probably not much more
What is not working:
- panorama shots
- video recording
- a lot more
Would anyone be brave enough to check it?
I highly recommend to do a nandroid backup before trying it.

All the credits go to:
- Tezet, for the Milestone2 port
- tpruvot, Quarx2k, for their tremendous efforts on Defy support (and thus Milestone2)
- whole Atrix-Dev-Team, Raviprasad V Mummidi, zivan56 for their tremendous work on the camera driver
Guess I missed this thread because it is in General Not your fault though.
I will test it as soon as I got some spare time. Sounds promising.
Thanks a lot for your efforts!!
What about bluetooth and wi-fi tethering? Are they working? I'm asking since they are working on Defy's GB kernel build.
And it would be better if some MOD can move this to DEV section.
Can we wait with that moving till I reach 10 posts?
I have merged some tethering code from Defy. Havent tested it though. I think I would have to use Defy's wifi driver, not CM9 default for that to work.
Bluetooth is not here.
sounds good !!
hmm.. so that you can respond to ppl. That makes sense.
I have installed it. It works fine. The camera starts and works as indicated.
One problem that everyone is going to notice first up is that if you make an outgoing call to a contact, the dialer shows unknown and all outgoing calls accumulate under 'unknown'.
And yes, there is no bluetooth.
Regarding the dialer: that's what I wrote about in the first post... I think it's the same on Defy right now.
Okay. I don't know about Defy but it is working on Tezet's ROM.
BTW, thanks again for porting the Atrix camera fix to MS2.
It's working on Tezet's build, but it's a month older. It was working on mine before I polled CM9 changes last saturday. I'll look into this.

IN YOUR FACE, MOTOROLA!!!
I know this has been discussed in other threads, but I have to give my recent account and hope it helps others. I have a rooted Nexus 5. I used the One Click Root which was an unbelievably easy root. I am using stock KitKat. I tried finding a phone call recorder, but nothing would work. I finally found the Total Recall app, which worked for a while but decided it was going to work some days but not others. On any given day it would work for a few hours, quit for several and then start again. I emailed back and forth with Killer Mobile, but nothing worked. After reading through the XDA forums on the subject I stumbled across a couple of threads regarding the Call Recorder App from Skvalex. I heard some good things about it so I downloaded it along with Skvalex's AlsaMixer. I read somewhere that you needed that app as well. Don't know if that's true, but I downloaded AlsaMixer first and then Call Recorder. Call Recorder works great. I get a clear sound from both ends of the conversation and it works all the time. I have a week before I have to pay for it, but I can't figure out how to pay. You download the app for free, and in the settings there is a place that says to "buy the full version", but when you do it takes you to Google Play and the download. Beats me. Anyway, the app is working great for me. I don't know how it would work if you are not rooted or are flashing a different ROM. But if you are rooted and with stock KitKat, then this should work for you.
Mark
You should uninstall a trial version before purchase the app. ALSA isn't required for CAF recording method which is default for Nexus 5.

Have been using stock Android 4.2 and all recording applications worked with their 2-way call recording (Call, Uplink, Downlink etc.) After update to Android 4.3 2-way recording no longer works. Rumors are either that Nexus 4 does not support 2-way recording or that Android OS is bugged and need to be patched.
