Hi, is it possible to flash an older firmware using odin on my device which the kernel version is July 3rd? As I have came across of rooting my device without tripping Knox using the TowelRoot method but unfortunately it is not supported because of the firmware version.
If so, where can find it? Thanks!

Yes (like NE2 can be rooted with TR) and on www.sammobile.com/firmwares/2/ you`ll find all firmwares.

Thanks! But my device's model number is G900F and it is not registered with T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon nor Vodafone. I can't seem to find an older firmware in that website, all I can find is the latest firmware version.

Just to confirm, I don't to need to factory reset my device right? I only need to do it if I want to flash my device to the latest firmware after root using this method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/guide-update-to-g900fxxu1ang2-root-knox-t2835315 , correct? Thanks!

Just extract the downloaded file once with 7-zip (or similar software) and you`ll see a MD5 file. Load that file in the AP window of Odin 3.09 and flash it with your phone in downloadmode (enable usb debugging and terminate Kies in windows task manager first). A data factory reset afterwards is adviced.
BTW you need the PC Odin version and not Mobile Odin Pro. Link http://odindownload.com/ Odin 3.09

I flashed back from NG2 to NE2 and i experienced no problems whatsoever. KNOX was not tripped, the bootloader was downgraded to NE2 and everything is official and the phone works as it should.

I've rushed into trying to root my Galaxy S4, but used the wrong process. I have a GT I9505 and used the SCH-I545 pre-release kernel making it stick after the samsung screen.
It has a blue light in top corner, I've removed battery and put it back in and when I try to turn it on in top left it says;
KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set warranty bit: kernel
Please help! At this point I would like to get my phone back to normal or root it properly. Thanks

I'm an idiot. I had access to recovery but now something has happened and it says;
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
Can I still flash using what you said?
I'm not sure if I'm on 4.3 or if I'm jelly bean or Kitkat. Kitkat isn't released generally is it? Cause I'm pretty sure I'm 4.2.
Those kernels can be flashed using Odin? Also can they be flashed on a non-rooted device?
It comes up FAIL(AUTH) on Odin when I try to do it.
OK!
Progress, I managed to install a root kernel and now I can get into download and recovery mode!
I just need the correct download and I'm hoping I can fix this!

I've flashed it mate.
Now it's saying the keyboard isn't working every 2 seconds and I can't get WIFI!
Any help on this??
Which firmware did you had before flashing and what firmware did you flash now?
Try to flash It again and before flashing wipe cache and do a factory reset. Untick auto reboot and after pass remove battery and restart into recovery. Wipe cache, factory reset and reboot.

I'm unsure what firmware I had before flashing. This is my problem.
I can't seem to get into recovery mode now! Just goes back to an empty battery symbol. Can I wipe cache while phone is on, just application cache yeah?
Not sure where to find firmware either, total noob here.

Thank you. I'll do that. I don't think it's branded but I'm unsure! What's best to do if I'm unsure? It voids warranty if I chose the normal one and It's branded right?
I'm trying what you said now, but i'll also put that on download.
Much appreciated!
From where I am I can fix my phone right?
Downloading UK 4.3 most recent. 1 hour or so to download. HOPEFULLY that will flash!
If you are on the 4.3 Bootloader you already voided your warranty by flashing a different kernel.
If you had a branded phone you would have had apps related to Vodafone straight out of the box. So did you? If not your phone is unbranded.
I would flash the unbranded version. Just because I wouldn't want to have all that bloatware on my phone

You think the correct firmware will get rid of the keyboard error?
No there is not. What I suggest is: download the official firmware of your region I would download the unbranded one and flash it. Once you've done that enjoy your phone. If anything goes wrong and you really don't know how to solve trow it of the big Ben and let your insurance know you've lost your phone.

No cover for loss. Only damage. But they give me a new phone there and then for 50 bucks if I break. Gonna need to run a tank over it lol
Could there be permanent damage meaning it can't be fixed? or pretty good sign I can get it on and reinstall firmwares
No its pretty hard to brick a phone. Certainly not by flashing official firmware MENTED for your phone trough odin. If you flash the correct firmware for your phone u should be alright.

Going to sleep a happy guy. Volume boost sorted.
Hi there,
a mate gave me his i9505 which he had "bricked", I'm not sure what he did exactly but he was trying to root it and was flashing things to it.
I got it into download mode with my little download dongle and i flashed a stock firmware onto it. I got the firmware from the shell of my Z3X box.
but now when i try to turn on wifi it wont turn on and when you try dial a number the phone crashes.
I think i may need the separate firmware files for flashing eg: phone, modem, pda, csc etc....
but these are very hard to get, every time i download a firmware for this model it's just one PDA file.
anyone shed any light on this or know where i can get the individual files?
thanks

I would try flashing TWRP onto it using PDA.
Then flash the bootloader from https://my.pcloud.com/#page=publink&code=XZNd9Z0r02nWGjnxJq0XlD8UTmzjJfnqzk
and the modem from https://my.pcloud.com/#page=publink&code=XZad9ZwQESjS2rxwQjCYJvOVqePkGCrzPX
I would then go to recovery mode and from TWRP install http://www.foxhoundrom.net/ this ROM.
That should work I think.
I had the problem with the phone crashing on calls so I started everything again by flashing the bootloader, Modem then install a different ROM. everything was fixed

What android version are you on? You've just flashed a 4.4.2 modem and bootloader, so if you're on android 4.3 it's normal that wifi won't work. You can probably fix this by installing a NA5 based rom or 4.4.2 stock rom.

Thanks, I flashed the 4.4.2 from the "mega" link you provided a few posts up and when i extracted that one, it had all the individual files like the AP the Modem, the bootloader and the csc, etc....
so i loaded them all into the version of Odin that came in the zip file
it worked!!
I now have a fully functioning S4 again, the wifi is working and everything.
one slight problem
when my mate gave me this phone, he said it had 4.3 on it.
i have downloaded 4.3 from sammobile.com but it's just one PDA file, can i just flash that to update ?

I think I will do that then, it says Canada, but should be the same version used for the USA tabs.
I froze the SDM app so it would not automatically download the updates but it did anyway. Is there something else I can freeze to stop the updates?

Apps for OTA Firmware Updates :
Kies.apk
LocalFOTA.apk
SyncmIDM.apk
SyncmIDS.apk
Dear billinaz
If i m not mistaken With Odin you can flash stock firmware at any time through download mode. But most imp thing you must have details of previous firmware prior to OTA like baseband and build version. If u have such information than you can find suitable stock firmware by Google it.

OK, can any tell me if this is all I need to flash?
PDA: T530NUUEU1AND4
Maybe check your 10.1 and see if that is the same firmware as before the update. Would I need any other files?
OK, I used odin and restored the previous firmware. Ran towelroot again, and all is back to the way it was before the mistake in software update.
I was able to freeze LocalFOTA.apk but these were not there to freeze:
Kies.apk
SyncmIDM.apk
SyncmIDS.apk

I was wondering if someone could post a link to the file I need to flash via Odin. And then I can use towel root? Thanks in advance!
I got it from the firmware section of sammobile.com

You can use any firmware. In general, in order to know your region should be opened recovery (only sink), and there you will see. Or even easier, install the phone_info and you will be happy.

You can use Wanam Xposed module to fake your device status. There are other Xposed modules that also does this. At first I thought this was only a cosmetic information, but it actually tricks the system and the OTA really work. It worked for me.

Has anyone tried this and had success. I'm hesitant to try it on my N910U
If there is a new firmware, you can simply download it on pc from a repository, flash via odin and reroot.

Yep wanams module lets me check/perform updatea
Tried using wanam xposed to fake my device as official. But I still get a modified device error when trying to update

Me too. Wanam only make you able to download the update, but cannot install.
I have to install via Odin.
Actually I use this trick only to be alerted when something new is available. I flash it using ODIN.

- Download the correct firmware for your device.
- Connect phone to PC, run Odin, select AP, and Start.
Hmm. Now the only firmware updates I see for my N910U is a 4.4.4 and I'm already running 4.4.4 so why does my phone say there is an update?
What fw r u on?
4.4.4? Or it something else? Where do I find it?

N910uxxu1anj5?
I am under custom recovery and i believe that the reason OTA update fail even fake the status.
Anyway to revert to stock recovery?
I don't like Kies, but sometimes I have to use it to check if there's an update, and if it finds one, it will install it for you but you have to reroot afterwards. I think this is the only method if you're rooted.
@Andrewtst, I had a Note 3 with custom recovery (CWM), and when I was one firmware behind, Kies prompted me for an update and after I updated it I got the stock recovery back. Don't know if this is the case with the Note 4, will try when there's an update for my Note 4.

I believe kies is full rom. I don't want full rom. If full rom, can download from sammobile and flash via odin.

Check with 'Phone INFO ☆Samsung☆' app, under 'OS INFO' section.
I found it. And apparently I already have the latest version even though it says there's an update available.

No guarantees it will flash properly. It depends on the size of the hidden partition. I would wait for a debranded firmware like BTU or XEU.

Thanks for your input @ joecool666 and @lynxblaine.
This morning I just received the 7 OTA on my device and is installing as we speak. It's aprox 200MB smaller than on the S7e (i'm on S6e).
For anyone interested.. I flashed this last night.. but it FAILED on hidden partition... had to emergency repair it. I'm using g925f in the UK on Vodafone..
Edit...
I flashed the UK Vodafone from sammobile
can i flash it with odin or i must install twrp recovery first?

Yes, I did try it but was unsuccessful to run the app.
Of course, because knox was tripped.

Flash it with Odin. Why would you install TWRP for the purpose of updating to Nougat Official?
Does not make sense. Hence, good luck and happy flashing official OS 7.

No one can confirm for the moment.
But there are already reports saying that they flash TWRP and Magisk for root then installed Magisk Manager from Play Store.
