Actually my first app ever
Its a unity3d simple infinite driving game with 3d graphics made in 11 days and released less than a month ago
Based on my custom score server I get around 200k players/day and well my server is dying due to the load until I receive the money and upgrade or try cloud databases.
Admob on iOS is making 4x than when using iAds because my game is mostly popular in countries where iAds is not supported.
I'm only using the small banner.
[Update]
I have to say, Google are taking their time stalling the payment, which is not cool since they claimed I would receive a payment at the start of the next month after reaching the 50$ threshold which I did in the first couple of days, my game used Admob since late march, and I did not get anything yet from them. now I know I'll eventually get it, but this caused a lot of troubles for me due to miscalculations, almost had to sell a portion of the game in order to feed myself as I spent everything on this game, but apple saved the day by sending iAd revenue earlier than what they promised, and now I feel guilty for switching iAds for Admob even though the revenue is less.
I know this is silly, but it was a bad experience for me having to ask people to lend me money to eat and pay for the server and I'll never forget this, will switch to other ad provider who doesn't lie.
Funny google have been nagging about me failing to pay for their business apps subscription, I'm not paying it from Apple's money, lets see if they suspend it!

Sorry I don't want to reveal my identity, but I can say that its kinda like Temple Run but with crazy car stunts, and what really pushed it is localization, instant support, and listening to user suggestions.

Maybe you'll share your experience relating to the mechanism of downloads generated.

Your result is really awesome.

I simply thrown it on the appstores with no marketing at all and it got featured in some countries which gave the first push.
Its definitely the Arabic localization which made it successful, and the 3D graphics where there's almost no good games that supports Arabic.
And the second reason is that users started taking screenshots of their stunts and scores then post them on Instagram.
Also the fact that the gameplay is unique and never been done before.

thanks for sharing info, really interesting, never would thought that Arabic language could have a visible impact on monetization....:fingers-crossed: BTW how many languages does your game support? Chinese, Korean, German ....
Finally will wait for you to reveal your identity , you're "magdu" in this field .. kinda

bump
bump for the update above.

Seriously anyone got the name of this game, I want to play and see the car stunts if people are making screenshots on Instagram I have to try it Oh and did you ever get the money from Google. Alot of people say that they just ban you from Admob when you have to recieve your money.

Which game engine did you make this game? Did you use Unity3d or something else?

Yes, it takes a lot of time to wait for AdMob payments, but at least they are paying. Many other mobile ADs providers don't pay at all.

Thanks for sharing your progress.

Personal warning I'll also include AppsPlanet into those list if I were you.
Note that, since everyone on Nexus S is presumably running at least Android 2.3, the vulnerability those apps exploited is already patched, rendering the malicious code ineffective. It's only people with older OS versions that need to be concerned. Yet another argument for taking responsibility for software updates out of the hands of manufacturers and carriers.

So, fragmentation actually helps some of us
Google needs to fix this and adopt a similar process like Apple does. I try to be careful when downloading stuff, but there are many, many people out there who are not tech savy and this can be a large problem down the line. Piracy is another issue they need to fix. Has Google ever found a way to stop people from downloading an app, backing it up to SD card or PC, and then requesting a refund? If they haven't, they need to immediately.

there's something along the line in regards to DEV protection about that.
It basically lets you only refund it once! for the lifetime of your Google account
so any app that you refunded once, you will not be able to refund it again the second time
which basically will prevent you from ever upgrading to a new version, even if you did rip them off once.
there are updates to your installed google apps like once a week, or once a day depending on the developers
the worse ones EA for example are aprox once a month upgrades
it's extremely annoying to not be able to update the apps, you always get annoyed about new apps alerts if you don't update.
so i always make sure all my apps are legit, so that i can use the UPDATE ALL button without having to manually update each app independently
wow here we go !
Luckily I don't download every app. Especially those that use the word sexy.

But those are the best ones!
Thanks for the heads up. Thankfully I didn't download any of those. To the point of the android app market becoming like apple, I'd resist that. Freedom is why I stopped using my iPhone and got a nexus s
most of these apps sound like porn anyway so who ever downloaded should have a virus or whatever the case may be. use your computer lol not your precious android.
not all of them, there are many legit apps and "useful" apps that were hacked, and then injected with the trojan, then release back to the market for free
like PewPew for example it's a legit game, but this is a fake version that works too, or too well, as it will download the trojan meanwhile you play the game
in the PewPew case, they didn't even rename the app
many of those other apps are just the same originals but renamed with the added payload inside

[Help] Why people don't like my word game?

I have created a word game called Anagram Online. But the download number is quite bad. Can't understand why people don't like my game. From my previous experience, it only take a few days to pass 1,000 download number.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.sillycube.android.anagramonline
Is it too boring? Too stupid? The graphic is not attractive? How do you think of my game?

Might work on the graphics a bit but overall is looks OK. I think maybe it's just that you're getting your first taste of what download numbers look like for crowded genre/market that already have dominating apps in them (words with friends, etc).
It's hard to stand out in the crowd. Do you do any promotion?
My previous game performs much better than this one. I have published 3 games already. This is the first multi-player game we tried to test the market. Unfortunately the result cannot reveal our hard work.
We have sent press release to different blogs. Also distribute the game to different 3rd party app stores. Just want to see if the game have any obvious defects before going into real-money advertising campaign.

READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
Allows the application to access the phone features of the device. An application with this permission can determine the phone number and serial number of this phone, whether a call is active, the number that call is connected to and the like.
I know this is probably required to do multiplayer, but I won't buy it (or install it if it's free). I don't know you and I'm not giving you access to my phone#, serial#, active calls, and caller I'm connected to.
Just my little slice of securing my life the best I can.
privacy concern? I thought that lot of peoples like word game in general
Root, i thought you were an android dev?
Phone state is required for a bunch of stuff, most of it does not require a concern with security
It's hard to get on top with word games. Our app is ranked around 200 or so in brain & puzzle if you want to check it out. (has multiplayer as well)
Its called Tile Takedown
Also, your download is over 5MB, which for a word game is a lot... is most of that your dictionary? or graphics?

Yes, I'm a dev. Just the fact that it can read my phone stuff and do whatever with it bothers me. My ethics as a programmer caused me to stop writing a "SMS Text Spam Blocker", which was going to be a slick application, just on account of what I realized I could do inside that broadcast receiver
Now, I may be wrong about the "phone" permissions, but I tend to error on the side of caution when it comes to my information and privacy.
Side note...I'm hoping the size thing isn't an issue these days. The app I'm developing now is 12MB...has 1,000 row database and about 50 png images. People have to realize you're not going to get high-end apps in the kb or sub 5MB range! (Note: Google Market limits app size to 50MB)

Just check your word game. It should be hardly profitable if the download number is around 10,000 - 50,000. I don't think that ad can generate high revenue.
It makes over $600 a month, not sure what "hardly profitable" is to you though
Sorry for my wording, it's just my personal view. Not intent to look down on your great product
I think that ad cannot generate high revenue because the ecpm are quite low in my apps, only around 0.1x. I use admob. If the download number is high enough, the revenue can hardly pay for the dev cost.
Theres a full version of the app for $3, but the free version generates more income.
The reason you are stuck at 100-500 downloads is because the dev console isn't updating. The ratings and bug reports are real-time but the download count hasn't been updated in about a week. I'm sure you'll be in the 1000-5000 range by the time it updates. or higher
Google just sent an email out to developers but it looks unrelated to the updating issue.
I like game like scrabble, I hope you make multilanguage game in future!
The download number is always not updated. I have made post in google support forum to gain more attention.
But the ad request in admob / adwhirl has been checked as well, which is around 100. Our other apps generally made 1000- 5000 in the first week. Therefore it seems like not many people are interested in trying the game.

I agree with ravishi, I am checking mine for the last three days and it hasn't updated, something wrong with the console stats.
Google send an email saying something about the "what's new" in apps needs to be dealt with.
Have just changed the icon. Hope it will be more attractive to other players.

Sure there's plenty more games that do the same. I'm not a gamer myself, and my oldest has my old SGS for her games, but the kiddy-game market is growing. Apologies for my 11-post jibe, it was unnecessary.

Well, let's see... on three occasions that I fornicated with my wife, three offspring came out nine months later. I was there during all three of said occasions, and delivered the middle offspring (the gamer) myself.
So pretty sure, yes.
Bumping my own thread, I'm a bad man.
Your replies were very witty, and I laughed incessantly.
However, I'm right and you're all wrong. All these lavasoft games - Restaurant/Farm/Zoo Story really do drain battery quickly. A combo of wifi, bright colours and eager progeny is hardly conducive to prolonged battery life. They certainly drain it quicker than my boy's other games (e.g., Cut The Rope, Angry Birds).

If I would have kids, I wouldn't want them to surf the Internet alone. There's too much stuff out there inappropriate for children.
My kids would get an old phone, which you can only use for talking and sending text messages and for gaming a Nintendo DS.
Think about this instead of battery live! The cheapest solution isn't always the best

I don't let them surf the net alone, under any circumstances. My middle kid is 7, and he's not getting a mobile before he's 10 (there's 6 year olds where I live tooled up with mobiles, which is ridiculous).
Any online games he plays are on my phone, always with me present, and no invites/social interaction without me vetting first. He has a DS and a Wii, and I don't allow online play with them.

Yeah, to encourage people to try without having to buy - it's a weird psychological thing, people won't spend $0.99 on an app they're not sure about, but will happily put down $3.99 for a cup of coffee that might not be that good tasting
One suggestion would be to just include a few topics (50?) and no search, favorites, share etc. But you're the best judge of what you think might be enought to give a taste but still encourage some portion to lite users to buy the full version.

Notify AD's: Comparison Chart (money made in each) and why I highly recommend them

Like every developer I have tried different AD networks to increase revenue in my app's. The 1st was tapgage which was awful and then it was leadbolt which was better but still took to long to give meaningful profit. Finally I tried Notify AD network and saw an increase in revenue right away. Here is a comparison.
Compare
Company Impressions Revenue
Tapgage 66,000 $30
Leadbolt 56,000 $89
Notify 15,000 $70
Now just using Notify for a month and already I see results. Plus the AD's only pop-up in the beginning and after that are replaced with banner AD's that don't annoy users.
Notify TriplePlay AD brings an original new way to serve ADs. Instead of app walls or constant banners Notify has found a way to mesh both AD type's into one. Thus TriplePlay ADs was born a hybrid of banner,pop-up's,and app wall rolled into one.

I don't know if there is a unity plugin but I was making apps with andromo and later phonegap which has no plugin. So I had to send the apk file to them and they installed the AD's into my game and sent game back with AD's . I will PM you the email of the programmer , he works very fast same day within 2-3 hours.

Cool unityscript is similar to javascript I have seen some examples. I have made small games with phonegap but unity is much better. Question to export to apk do you still need eclipse or unity has their own exporter? Eclipse doesn't run properly on my pc that's why I never used unity.

We do not have a plugin just yet, but we can definitely help you integrate our SDK and get ads serving to your users. PM me if you would like to learn more. You can also email me with any questions [email protected] Thanks for your interests and question. Cheers! Happy Developing!

I talked to one of the developers over at NotifyMob and video ADs are coming soon. Its an excellent way to earn money or promote your app.

This is interesting. Two questions though what are you're total install numbers for those earnings, and how many active installs. Also, can you choose when and where the ads are displayed? Because, those banners at the bottom for example, may conflict with content on my app...

Well 15,000 installs is the total number for the earnings. Active installs would be 8,000 with earnings of $70 over 1 month period. Yes you can choose the ADs to be on the top or bottom. You can also choose the triple play ADs to be set after a play session is over.

Try out Supersonicads.com - you get a average of $7-$15 eCPM... so you would get a little bit more then you made on leadbolt..
Problem with AdMob is that you cant serve Rewarded Videos and payout is low...
