[Q]Wifi password not saving after reboot... - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a unique problem that I have yet to encounter before. Everytime I reboot I lose my password for wifi at home and I have to re-enter it. Very annoying. Anyone know what I could possibly do to fix this problem?
Running stock Bell rom. Rooted.
Thanks

I have the exact same problem! I'm also running Bell stock and rooted my phone.
I did use TiBu to restore my wifi passwords. Have you done the same thing?

I didn't use TiBu for wifi passwords. I believe it is the Rom. I am gonna reinstall it and see if it persists.

Same problem here! Really frustrating. Mine's Bell too. Wonder if this is D803 issue.

same. bell but unlocked. Tried restoring to factory and also update recovery firmware. No luck.

I'm on Verizon and have another thread started on similar issues that started today. Mine remembers my password but will not get on the internet with either my 5Ghz or 2.4. I have to use my guest account on the same router for it to work.

I'm having the same issues on my Bell stock D803. Getting really frustrating now.

That's what I do use. I've tried my home, work and iphone hotspot. All connect the first time, but reboot the phone and it looses all the settings.
I emailed LG Canada support and they replied back with:
- Turn the phone off.
- Press home + volume down + power and hold until you see the LG logo appear, release the keys.

And if that doesn't work, take it back to your carrier to have it sent into their repair center.

OK, I have the verizon(US version) and I have no problem

Yeah, I think it's a problem with the Bell Canada version of the phone. Must be something in the ROM. Hopefully it gets updated soon to fix the issue.

Try opening up your build.prop file and editing the following: wifi.lge.patch. Set it to false. This worked on my Bell D803.
Needless to say, you need to be rooted to do this.

Has there been any non-root resolution to this?
My brother is having issues and i'd rather not root his phone - adds complexity that he doesn't need plus i would need to figure out how on an LG

I don't see what the big deal is. Even when I hadn't rooted my phone, I always got an error when trying to update profile or prl, so I don't see it as a big deal.
I remember there might be a way to update those things using your MSL (re: service programming).
Forgive My Brevity. To Be Or Not To Be...
I was also hav ing issues with updating my phone, even before I received the DI18 update, before I finally decided to root my phone. I had taken it in to the local store... they couldn't do anything to fix it, just did a bunch a resets and stuff. They had me call in to Sprint tech support, and basically got the same results. At this point, I was also starting to experience random reboots. Eventually they gave up and decided to replace my phone.
At the time, I didn't know much about rooting and stuff, so I didn't want risk it on a phone that wasn't fully functioning, just in case other issues arose later, then run into a problem getting it fixed because I had rooted my phone.
When I got my new phone, and everything worked as it should, I finally decided to root, and have never looked back.
I have been unable to update prl for the last few days. I get the message "internal error."
I'm rooted, using epic experience and the latest mixup kernel. The sprintandroidextension.apk is installed.
Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this?

Alright, I just tried this, no success. I did notice however that every time I try to update, it begins searching for prl and then data appears to turn off. Wifi turns off, 4g turns off, and even my 3g icon disappears.
Wiped everything 3x, installed latest epic experience along with phoenix kernel and the shabbypengquins latest battery tweak.
I was hoping this would work, but alas no. Same exact error.

I'm just hoping once Froyo comes out, it'll fix this issue.
Is there atleast a way to do it manually? With all of this 4g stuff going on there is more of a need to update more frequently I would think....

I came across the exact same problem. I also dropped my Epic (way before the problem began) and cracked the chrome and paint on the side of the bottom right corner. I brought it into my Sprint store, they ran the prl update twice, it failed. They had a brand new non remanufactured Epic the next day. This one runs way better and the vibrates stronger when pushing keys. I suggest you bring it in and get a new one.
Forgot to mention I was outside of my 30 days, I had the phone for 60 days. They still replaced it.

I purchased mine from Radioshack, so I'm guessing the Sprint store won't be as helpful. I'm not quite ready to give up and try to use the warranty on it, this is just a little bit frustrating.
I was able to update the PRL before...
Also, there is a thread on SDX about the problem too.

I'd suggest waiting for froyo to come out and then try to see if you can update the PRL. That's what I'm hoping for anyways. If it doesn't work then, then it's going back.
If it turns out you have to bring it in, Sprint called it a defect in the phone so they didn't make me use insurance which also means I didn't get a refurb but a brand new one. Funny thing the very first time I ran the prl in store before walking out I got the internal error again but the salesman hit it again and it went through. I've been testing it for two weeks now and it works every time

Update to 4.1.2 waiting to download

Hi Guys,
I have a question about the update to version 4.1.2.
When I go to Settings > About > System update, I see that the update to 4.1.2 is found but it says that it is waiting to download but it stays like that forever and nothing happens.
Has anyone else seen such behavior? Do you know why it is happening and if it is normal?
Thanks!
Maybe a stupid question but... are you connected to WiFi when you see the message?

Yes, I know what the arrows mean but my question is why this is happening? Is there a way for me to force the download? Or maybe I just have to wait more (it's been like this since yesterday)?
Try powering off the Nexus and then starting it up again. If that doesn't work, try using the technique to trick it into updating mentioned in this thread (yes, it's for a different situation but still worth a shot)

Hey, thanks for the suggestions. I tried powering off and on and it didn't work.
Then I tried the method to force stop the Google Services Framework and when I went to the System updates screen, I had the option to check for updates. I checked and I am back to where I was before - the update shows but is only "waiting to download"

[Q] My wifes G2 was remotely Hacked

Has this happened to anyone elses G2? I am on verizon with 4.4.2 update and not rooted. He had complete control of her phone. Was writing me messages and kept opening pics of my 4 yr daughter. I diconnected the wifi and mobile data. He still had control of the phone. Then I factory reset it and he still was on it. Verizon is sending me a new phone and getting a new sims card. Is there a way from stoping this from happening?
I truly dont believe though that when you switched off network that someone can still connect. Anyways:
firstly, recap if the phone was ever left unattended, letting someone install something on it.
Dont do that, even if if it has a password on it, anyone not looking away when entering it on the street can see what the pincode/password is.
Apps not from play store, dont install. Ever.
Change all passwords on a safe medium (multiple antiviris vendors scanned) of wifi router, to anything, including recovery questions, make them different and non logical or affiliated to you.
Run virus scans on computer and or any medium that ever connected phone.
Then check apps/websites of mail and such for activity, likely activity at times you didnt use any of the services. Anyway facebook and such lets you close open sessions anywhere.
That should do the trick. And big tip dont get paranoid Just ponder how somehow got acces.
I find it hard to believe that someone could still control the device after a factory reset. Highly unlikely I would say.

1. I really doubt this happened.
2. After disconnecting wifi and mobile data, it would be impossible
3. Factory reset would definitely make it impossible
4. It's more likely that the touch screen is having phantom touches
I had issues with phantom touches on my Optimus G. Drove me batty. Some days it was impossible to use the phone, as the touches were all registering in the bottom half of the screen where the keyboard appears. So random letters would be inserted into words.
Turned out to be a driver issue with the custom kernels in some of the ROMs is using.
Factory reset and being more selective in the kernels I ran fixed the issue.
If it's still happening after a factory reset, then you have a defective touchscreen. Replace the phone under warranty.
Typos courtesy of my LG G2 (D803) running Mahdi-ROM.
I really have no reason to lie to you guys. The messages stopped after I disconnted the internet but the screen was still jumping around. That is why i figured he still had access.
I just received the new phone today. Should I go ahead and get a new sims card or I be ok with the old one?

its possible, if he were root and had something installed as system app.
also you can set stuff like tasker to autimaticaly turn network back on.
what did the messages say, cause if they were gybrisch then it seems like phantom touches.

I would, you could have the old encryption method on the sim card which would make it easier to root the card. But I am guessing what happened to your wife was something more like an AndroRAT exploit.
It could be possible seeing as all you need is a phone number to find your location by txt msg, and that can be done silently without you ever knowing.
Seems it's a built in part of the RADIO AT that providers can use, if you're on the inside and know how it works it'd be a doddle, but if the txt msgs were gibberish I'd go with the majority with faulty touchscreen/drivers and nothing to worry about
Bashing away at my HTC Desire C
Tell to the hacker to try to hack my phone instead, I don't care. I will shoot exclusively for him a pic of my arse as award if he manages to hack it and he can print it, or try to sell to the newspapers.
BTW, I'm not so anxious about apps not installed directly from Play Store. You can easily check or restrict the permissions of any app as root user. I never yet faced the problems.

I cannot seem to fix it. I have searched threads here and on other forums, poked around the Google forums and I have tried everything mentioned and I cannot get it to go away. That's means your router has no Internet not the phone. It's your WiFi router losing its Internet connection. Without seeing your setup I can only speculate as to the exact issue.

There are 2 problems with that. All my computers and other phones in the house do not have this problem, so it definitely is not the router. Also, I am not always connected to my home router. I will be on my commute to work (no wifi) and it will happen. Hell, it will happen AT work and we have an enterprise network with update to date Cisco switches and APs.

Funny thing is, I am back to unrooted stock and it instantly goes away. I was having the issue last night and into this morning on my home Wifi, on my way to work, then at work on LTE and when on the Wifi. I reverted the phone back to stock and now all is well. Why would a custom rom have something to do with not connecting to Google Services??

There could be many reasons. Custom Roms are modified and usually have custom kernels. Lots of stuff can go wrong. It's the risk of flashing custom Roms. I find with the 6p, stock rooted is the best. There isn't anything you can't do between xposed and root access. Each time I try a rom I have radio issues to be honest. I just stay stock.
That's a good call. Really the only thing I want root for is theming and double tap to wake, both can be achieved without custom rom (I believe)
Although I use Android Pay and even with systemless root, I am unable to get it to work....So maybe I should stay stock for awhile, but that is for another thread.
Appreciate your help, Gizmoe!

I think Google has updated the safetynet API that prevents Android Pay working with Systemless root. I had it working until the latest update of Android Pay.

Yes, it was. I have reverted back to stock unrooted and I am no longer having the issue. I did not want to do this, but unfortunately I have to actually use my phone as a phone and need the basic functionality that I was losing with the continuous issue.

I suggest trying another rom and testing that out. May help you isolate the problem. Perhaps its has to do with 2.4 ghz vs. 5.0 ghz Wi-Fi networks, either can be forced in Wi-Fi settings. Or it may be a conflict with a mod in Pure Nexus if this does not occur on another rom.

Flicking icon to 4g when WiFi is on.

I have strange thing happening when I'm connected to wifi and data is on its constantly flicking from one to another? Anyone have same thing?
Had the same problem on the EU version B03. I Deleted the apn's. Manually add them again and now it's working perfectly for me. No more flickering.
Tks have eu version as well I try.

I would have never though that this is why it stopped on my phone. I did it quite different purpose. ?
I'm relieved to see that I'm not the only one having this issue after updating to B03, even though the change log mentions that this issue is resolved. I've tried a factory reset and APN deletion as suggested but it doesn't help. I've moved from a OP3 to the Axon 7 recently (very difficult decision) and as much as I like to tinker with my phones, I suppose the EU folks have to be patient to enjoy the true potential of this device.
Hoping this issue gets a workaround or the next update fixes it. For now, assuming this flickering takes up battery, I've just disabled mobile data from the quick toggle.
P.S. Iv'e tested it and I'm pretty certain that it doesn't indicate that the Wi-Fi is continuously disconnecting. It's just the icons acting up. Also, no mobile data is used while this happens.

May I ask how you delete the APN? The only one I have is greyed out and I can't seen to delete it. I created another one and mirrored the settings from the original which seemed to do the trick but alas I was wrong.
I have the US version but flashed B03 onto so I could enable the on-screen sift keys with Gravity box.
Thanks!

in my case i had this problem with B03 and never changed APNs, upgrading to B05 fully solved the problem (just checked, APNs are still the same as B03 for my operator)

Yes but it didn't work this time unfortunately.
This is such an annoying issue to have. I initially thought this takes no battery being just a cosmetic and not a functionality issue but I'm inclining to believe that it is actually switching to mobile network and back. Can anyone confirm this?
I think it is there was some app don't remember name witch check all network info and u can check there when is flicking it's changing status from wifi to 4g

I just ran a quick watchdog test and watched a video on YouTube for a few minutes. I also have a flicking 3g icon. After a few minutes on YouTube with flicking icon there was 0 bytes used on mobile data, so I guess this is just a cosmetic problem.

I was certain there was no data loss, however battery loss maybe a possibility. Purely speculating.

Since I don't really trust my GSam, I have no idea how to test this. At least it's not using mobile data, that's for sure.
