[Q] Help needed with rooting the octacore unlocked variant of the phone - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So first of all I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40747604 (MOTOCHOPPER thingy) to root my phone, I'm attaching the screenshots of the process ( the superuser app said it was outdated and when I tried to update it gave the message shown in the attachment below ) I know this that this motochopper process hasn't worked for many other S4 users who received a stability update some time ago. So, what do I do next ? could anybody link me to the complete process to fix this ? if I need to unroot this partially rooted phone before trying another root process, if yes then how ? Thank you:fingers-crossed :

Why did you use that. It's for Qualcomm-based variants of S4 (I9505).
He already mentioned that MOTOCHOPPER is for Qualcomm-based variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
Your phone is I9500 and probably INDIAN.
Use this to root your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292615
And I think you are really new to rooting or flashing.
Then please do not flash anything you see on Google. First try to learn what exactly are you doing and how this actually work.
You might get your phone brick if you flash any file you see.

Yes, indeed, I'm new to this. Thank you
Another thing, I saw you use 9500 too, did you notice that the share via option in the music player has been missing in our phones ? I remember fine that it was there when I bought it, last time I used it was around a month ago, but now it is just gone, it is present in my note 2 but not in S4. Is this due to the stabilty update we recieved ?

[Q] Help/Questions regarding rooting Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 4.4.2

Hi all,
It has been a few years since I rooted my last Android device and I seem to be having some difficulties in rooting my current Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 running Android 4.4.2.
Please see attached screenshot of my phone Baseband version, build number, etc.
Are there any supported root methods for my device?
How important is the build number/baseband version when attempting to root?
I seem to be able to find root info for similar devices although quoting a different build number etc.
I attempted to use the chain fire auto root and selected the root file for the Qualcomm international and it did flashed in Odin and showed PASS but did not grant SU privileges.
Luckily my phone was fully functional after a hard reset, although I am wondering whether these methods of rooting are still working for my version of Note 3.
Is there a possibility that it is not possible to root my SM-N9005 due to the particular build number?
I have attempted to search around for any useful threads, although I am not having any luck.
Can anyone even suggest a method which I could investigate further, or even possibly direct me to an existing thread which may prove useful?
Thanks in advance,
Alex.
For ease of reference my build number is:
KOT49H.N9005XXUENE3

All I am after is SuperUser privileges for various purposes - not looking to flash any custom ROM or anything of the sort at this stage.
ANY HELP AT ALL WOULD BE AWESEOME!
Here are some additional details from the Phone Info app:
This would make me assume that using CF-AutoRoot should work using the file:
SM-N9005 (International Qualcomm): CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
Is this correct?

[Q] Question regarding system updates to rooted s4 (stock rom)

Hello,
I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 (but you knew that.) that is currently running 4.4.2 Android. I have rooted my phone, but I never installed any roms, I am still using the stock touchwiz. For a while now, my phone has been telling me "system update downloaded" and wants me to install it.
Basically: How do I go about updating my phone without breaking something due to my root status. Should I un-root? Should I just hit update? I'm skeptical because I don't know much about fixing my phone if I accidentally brick it.
Alternatively, would I be better just getting a rom, like Cyanogen? I don't hate touchwiz as much as I probably should, haha.
Side note, I apologize if this has been raised before, I have been searching for answers to this since the first time my phone notified me of the update, between Google searches and searching this forum, I haven't found a topic that addresses my issue.

You coins just try a custom Touchwiz ROM like mine (Wicked X). You can't install the OTA on a rooted system, you need to unroot to take the OTA.

Get latest update to my rooted i337ucuamdl with 4.2.2

Hello!
I have AT&T (i337ucuamdl) Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.2.2 installed. I have rooted the phone years ago and have not touched since. How do I update the phone to the latest 5.XX version? Is it possible to preserve the root? I saw the warning about MDL version that it is not supported. Anyone?
Thank you!
Look here.
Will I be able to use OTA updates with this ROM?
Thank you!

If you really still have the mdl bootloader, then you don't want to do an ota update, which will replace the exploitable mdl bootloader with a locked one.
If you have already done ota updates on the phone in the past, then you are already on a locked bootloader, and the above link would be irrelevant.
How did you get 4.2.2 onto the phone without replacing the UCUAMDL bootloader?

This is what I have now. Interesting that some applications are saying the phone is not rooted. I have done it 2 years ago. I cannot recall how I did it.
Thank you!
The application tells me I am not rooted.
I guess it is better to repeat the root procedure now.

This will root and install TWRP on MDL.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297900
This will give you stock OC3 lollipop and keep your MDL bootloader.

I have rooted the phone successfully yesterday. I got a problem during my backup with FlashFire. Apparently something happened during backup and my microSD card got locked. What ever I do now I cannot format it or write anything on it. Anyone experienced it?
Thank you!
Yeah. I had 2 go bad on me out of the blue. Thankfully, they were SanDisk, which has a lifetime guarantee.
Snapping along on stock rooted 0C4 I337, wishing for some good up to date lollipop ROM's to throw into flashfire
Installed OC3. Do you know if the OC4 is available? It fixes the security bug that I would like to use.
Thank you!

If root(SuperSu) is installed in system(most likely it is) it won't be gone when you do factory reset. And as long as you have TWRP recovery, you need only few clicks to get root.
I propably can't help you. But about my earlier post, make sure the changes you made to the "update-script" file are saved in zip. I once had same propblem and realized that changes weren't saved even though winrar said so.

Need some help. Was working on a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 and dropped it for a while due to other things coming up in my life (went to hospital for COVID). Anyway, I was working on rooting this Verizon Samsung S5 and when I powered it up, it looks like this.
Anyone know what I'm looking at and how I need to move forward? Should I just start all over? I see the instructions in the forum for that. Should I just start over? Thanks in advance.
I rooted the S5 by buying the Tmobile version as it's way superior and it's close to the G900F.

If you have a CID11 S5 (which you can check by downloading EMMC BrickBug Check on the google play store (or apk)), you are screwed as there is no bootloader unlock for that version of S5. I know as I have this exact model.

Thanks. I think I will save myself the headache and just skip trying to root this device.
