Tv app - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Being that I came from both the S4 and One, I've found myself completely clueless with this phone as to what's on tv and which channels. Both of those phones had apps that controlled the IR blaster and included a tv guide-like app. Do we not have anything like that? I've been looking and just find the remote app.

I haven't found one yet. I guess we will need to keep searching.

Damn. I was afraid of that. It amazes me that they did not include something similar to compete with them. I'd like to get more attention drawn so we can find an app, have one made, or make our voices heard by LG.

I find myself just using the Direct TV app. It shouldn't be like that, but I guess it is for now.

I'm assuming there's no IR support though?

Sadly it doesn't... But at least it has the guide and I can touch the show I want to watch and it takes me right to it.

they put no effort into the blaster. it's angle is absolutely awful and the htc one and gs4 kill it. if you're one inch off from the direction of the IR in the device, it won't work. it's absolutely terrible... so it doesn't surprise me the software sucks.

You really do have to aim it with precision for it to work well. Stupid thing.

I definitely noticed the same thing. I can't seem to figure out what or why it is that way. The One had the best IR blaster in my opinion. I enjoyed it's bundled app more than the S4's too.

Can't this be done with Google Now? Seems like it would be a feature.

I have been wanting something like this as well.
To have an application to do this though, you would have to have two parts two it.
First part would be an app on your Android device, and the other part would be something that runs on a computer @ the house.
Reason for this is because you would want a secure connection between your phone and the app. Otherwise, anyone/everyone would be able to access your home automation system.
If there is anything like this, that would be awesome, but I don't think there is
The closest thing you can get to it is HomeSeer, but it isn't voice activated. It's only buttons.
If anyone knows of a program that would do voice activation home automation, please let me know!

Split screen

Anyone know of an App or ROM that gives the ability to have a split screen like the Note?
One app open in half the screen and another app in the other half?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Only Samsung ROMs are capable of doing that. Maybe we will get a port, but that requires a lot of Samsung framework. So as of now, no.

Got t. Thanks!

I was wondering the same, it'd be really nice to see this on the Nexus 4.

It has a version of multiwindow? I thought that was only for like the video player.
Either way, there are plenty of floating apps on the play store that are pretty awesome. Lilypad HD is a floating chat client, Overscrkeen is a floating web browser, and there's a few others as well.

I was looking more for like any app you can put in the split screen. I'm going to check out those apps though. Thanks
there's cornerstone which existed before samsung came and you can be sure thats what samsung probably based theirs on. googles dianne hackborn personally vetoed when cyanogenmod tried to bring in cornerstone, even hinting at legal consequences. afaik it was troublesome and buggy aswell, even samsungs solution was for a couple of apps only, right?

Yes, it was originally only for a couple of apps. But there are some hacked up versions available on XDA that allow it to work perfectly with all apps.
Thanks guys. I'll check out cornerstone on xda.

Galaxy Gear Notification

Hey guys with the Gear. Did any of you find a way to get rid of the ongoing notification in the notif bar while its connected? Its just pretty annying and unnecessary. Thanks

I would like to know if anybody has been successful with this as well, although I assume it is only possible with root.
You need root for changes like that unless the app has an option to turn off the icon.
I can't believe this pos watch doesn't give gmail updates, I'm seriously thinking of returning it.
Off subject, but what's yalls thoughts about the gear? I like the idea but not sure it's worth the $300.00.

Depends on what you want to use it for.
I wanted it to use out jogging with a running app and to control my music and it works great for that.
It irritates me to no end that it won't give me gmail updates however.
IMHO it is WAY overpriced for the few things it actually does.

I made a call from my car today, the first thing my daughter said was "are you on a speakerphone??"
I guess it was legible, but not real great.
I had to uninstall Handcent after figuring out the watch doesn't work with it which really pissed me off.
That and no gmail updates makes me seriously considering a refund....

[Q] TV Remote

Hey G2 users , I think of buying this phone in this month. So I want to ask is there a TV Remote app like in HTC One or Galaxy S4?
Yes
Sent from my LG-D802 using xda app-developers app
It is fantastic. You can make custom remotes, program custom profiles, everything. It is fantastic.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app
Except it has not very good range. IR sensor is quite small.

Trying to use it is also kind of a pain, I find myself having to really aim at the sensor location on the TV to get it to work.
I guess it's ok though since I don't plan on using this since I have my TV remote. To me, it's just a nice-to-have thing in case my TV remote ever craps out or gets lost.

G2 ir blaster

hello
I wonder if G2 ir blaster can learn remote control code (receiver) like HTC One or just use Predefined cods like Galaxy s4?
thanks in advance
It can learn, just add the universal remote.

Actually, it can do both.
Yes, it can learn. I was very happy with the feature, but most of the buttons are not working, atleast for me.
I have learned my phone, my ACs and none of them work. Any solution?

Try reprogramming the buttons. I had that happen to me once, after recreating the remote everything worked fine ever since.
My only grouse is that every time I switch roms, all my remotes go and I have to reprogram the various remotes. It's far easier to just pick up the remote and your good to go. The only place it's useful is in a bar when you want to impress someone

I never had to do that. I restored app data upon flashing the new ROM and it worked.
