Good for yo mate.. but mine still does not despite plastic removed however I really love the videos quality...
The images captured are not as clear as the Note 2 and S3 which I captured by my own hand..

Well, my task this weekend was to go to some dealer's store and test the S4's camera on the display units.. (I9500 as there's no I9505)...
I noticed the difference in between these 2
Faster focus and capture on the I9500
Less blurry shot on the I9500..
My I9505 really outperformed by the I9500 and I am kinda a disappointed I9505 user now after all I read good reviews.
I am sure something must have gone wrong with the I9505
P.S: The plastic is for sure being removed and outdoor daylight my I9505 has crystal clear picture but not when indoor even when you have good lighting..

Rear facing camera not working
My sister just got a i9505 from the UK.
The rear-facing camera doesn't work, meaning that it's just showing black, but you can still see the on-screen menu buttons.
The front-facing camera works fine.
I tried to ODIN back to stock, but it failed since the device came with a locked bootloader.
I restored it to the latest stock firmware using Samsung KIES, but that didn't make a difference. Any suggestions before I have her send it back for a refund?

Camera Worse since JB update :(

Anyone else noticed the camera shutter speed and focus issues since the JB update?
I use to be able to take fast, focused snaps. It takes seriously longer to get a good crisp shot.
Any pointers?

I haven't noticed that issue. Are you on stock or custom ROM?
I'm on Omega JB ROM.
I'm stock all the way. Have had my JB for about a week, played with all the camera settings & it still sucks!

I can see your point about the focus issue but the shutter speed seems similar to me.
Me To, i'm on ARHD 13 and the foucs got quite slow.
on ICS it was perfect

Really? I think the S3 takes some of the best pictures out of most android devices.
I'm getting very blurry pictures even with anti shake enabled and also poor focusing

I have tested with s2 S3 and neo on big TV and the neo pictures where sharper. The only thing that was good was filming with full HD. But get the same results from s2.

I'm using completely stock.
Noticed setting storage type back to phone from SD fixed the lag. Think it needs a defrag somehow.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Although it doesnt help you. I actually found the camera to be much better in JB. Most of my shots previous would either not focus or blur and the only way I could get a decent shot was to use the Best Shot feature. Now it snaps well each time.
I hope we get the PhotoSphere in the 4.1.2 update that looks ace!
Camera is not worse. Its more grainy for videos thats what i noticed. But i prefer it that way. More noise and looks like blu-ray video. I can use deblock later if i wanna edit the file
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Check out pro capture in the play store, its a much better alternative. Which is a shame because its obviously not the hardware thats letting this phone down.

For the Price Samsung could do better. You have Xperia s with 12 MP and good lens. For a top device. ..

I didn't notice that , i am update to JB from 2 days to UAE version and it's doing great and nothing happened in the camera speed or focus .

[Q] how to open the back cover

Hello
I need to open the back cover of the device to cover the camera.
Has anyone already done it? Is there a video to this?

Seems like tape. Or maybe even a sharpie would do the trick... A sharpie would be permanent until you rubbed it off with some rubbing alcohol.

A lot of government buildings don't permit camera phones in the workplace. Same with a lot of private defense or research firms. OP probably isn't allowed to have a camera in his workplace, but loves the phone. A few years ago–to fill this small but certain niche–RIM made BlackBerry phones without cameras that were otherwise identical to their camera phone counterparts.
Tbh, the camera sucks. White balance compensation is worse than it is on my original Galaxy S. Pixels don't really mean that much when the picture is poor quality. I can't imagine how bad the camera is on Galaxy Nexus phones if the 4 is considered to have significantly improved optics.

Actually, I noticed that outdoor photos are acceptable. At night, with the standard lighting you'd expect from any venue or abode, the white balance is terribly far off.
Is it possible to turn off the camera by software?
I mean when I click the icon of the camera, the camera will not work at all.

Root. And then use Titanium to freeze or un install unwanted stuff.
If i do the root and freez or uninstall the camera the other application that use with the camera still can work with the camera ?

No Apps that relay on a camera app will work, but apps with their own camera app (like PicsArt) propably will.

I just removed the back cover to play around. Really pretty easy.
1. Remove the SIM card tray, set it aside
2. Remove the two Torx (size 5) screws on the bottom of the phone.
3. Use a prying tool around the phone to pop the back cover straight off (I used a guitar pick and a small flathead screwdriver)
When you remove the back panel, it would be quite easy to put a little piece of paper to cover the camera.
However, even with the back camera covered, the front camera could still be used to take pictures... and removing/covering the front-facing camera is a lot more involving tear down process. I think a software mod would be your best bet.
Here is a great youtube on disassembly and reassembly of the Nexus4.

[Q] Camera issue

Hi,
When i take pictures with the note 3 i noticed some black bars on the screen and processed pictures. This mostly appears to happen when focusing. Not always, but mostly on low light situations.
So i returned my note 3 a couple of days ago and received a new one. I couldn't believe my eyes when the exact same thing happened with the new one.
So i want to ask you all to look closely at your screen when taking a photo in a comparable low light situation. You have to seek for it but it might happen. I managed to take some photo's of this phenomenon. See the photo's in the dropbox link.

Thanks so much !
Did you took off the plastic film on the camera lens ?

maybe different setting
and maybe problem with ur variant and will solve by an update
and also it can be hardware problem in last step IF u become sure no software problem
so
1. play with settings
2. search for other users that exactly in same firmware with u and compare photo ...
3. if u find any different (bad quality in urs) try to flash another stock rom (from another regions)
4. if nothing change take it for service to check lens
:good:

The camera has Jeckel and Hyde characteristics.Outdoor shots are superb for a smartphone but when you venture indoor or at night,it takes pretty awful photos.Smart Stabalisation brightens things up and limits noise but you lose all detail. If you crop in, faces and objects look like cartoon drawings. There is only so much you can do with a small sensor so I think the N3 needs a dedicated night mode and better software.don't hold your breath though.Samsung will fix this issue up but only when the N4 arrives with their isocell technology.
If you want decent photos at night you need to use the flash but the flash doesn't work well past 10 ft.

Camera rubbish!

I've had this phone a couple of days and taking outside or inside photos near a window is a nightmare! Photos have a bad blur around the window or outside! Maybe it's just me but I'm really not impressed with it! Photos look a bit misty! Is it me or is it this camera?

with your fingers?
maybe you've left the stock transparent sticker on your lens...
btw even dslr cameras struggle in taking clear pictures without good polarizing filter glass on the lens... so...
being a dslr camera owner - g2 has one of the best cameras i've seen on the mobile device... i was stunned with the image quality, sharpness and color...
if you're rooted and have custom recovery - try xdabbeb's camera mod
Thinking it could be the lens cover!!! If so might just sell it lol

Hi Again
I caved in an bought another g2 to see if my blurred pictures were a hardware fault or just due to a crappy g2 camera, looks like my new g2 takes pictures of simular quality to my s4
Sorry to say but sounds like your g2 camera module needs replacing or the phone itself.

This was my old g2 with the same pic. I think the glass scratches on the lens had something to do with it.

Although, i still think the s4 is crisper and cleaner (but a bit dimmer) at indoor shots with incandescent lighting.
