[0.4] Nokia Portal - Install Nokia, HTC and LG apps on any WP8 device! - Windows Phone 8 Development and Hacking

I wrote a simple app to configure Fiddler2 to change your device's brand to Nokia, here it is:
Edit: Application has been deleted.
EDIT:
Due to the new Here Drive+ which costs money without this "hack", I will delete this application from the internet on the 20th of Juli.
Use it while you can.

Hi,
I tried it, however after setting up the proxy to my local IP (tried all types of IP addresses, none worked) in the WP8 Wifi settings, I simply couldn't load any page anymore with the phone - the internet was dead to it. Not even the certificate could be accessed.
I was using a computer attached to my home wireless router through cable, also tried accessing a computer that is directly connected to the internet, didn't work.
Did you check your program's functionality in other configurations as well?

@xdevilium: Nice work! I am hoping to write an on-phone solution for this, but it turns out that implementing a proxy server using the APIs avaialble for WP8 apps is a pain. Well done on simplifying the use of an existing app like Fiddler.

I'm working on a WPF version of this app, more user friendly
BTW is it even possible to configure proxy from an app on WP?

I would like to see other marketplaces, kind of like a Marketplace Changer like we had with Windows Phone 7.8
For example, I am on Verizon with a Nokia 928, I would like to access AT&T apps and HTC apps...I even want a app from LG's marketplace...

it works!
But most Nokia apps will not install on my Ativ S , I was able to install the at&t locker app , lets get some HTC apps!

Good job

[wm5] IBM J9 Java

Attached: IBM J9 Java (weme-wm50-arm-midp20_6.1.0.20060727-102926)
Packed as CAB (no need to copy files manually), with *.jad and *.jar associations.
Files:
install.pdf from IBM - how to install (not needed), how to use.
J9_full 6.1.0.20060727-102926.CAB - full installation - Java Virtual Machine, Midlet manager, Midlet runner, libraries. Size after install - 3.4Mb
J9_tiny 6.1.0.20060727-102926.CAB - simplified installation. Without Java Virtual Machine (probably you don't need), without debugging support (probably you don't need), without eastern languages support (sorry, they are too big for me). Only Midlet manager, Midlet runner, libraries. Installs automatically into main storage. Size after install - 2.3Mb
thanks for this. I had the WM2003 version and was annoying not being able to use the soft buttons in the Midlet Manager
ibm-weme-wm50-sp-arm-midp20-6.1.0
Is there any chance someone could also post the smartphone installer?
thanks man... that help me.
Just an FYI. I still can not see JPEG sattelite imagery in google maps. the wm2003 version let me but not this version or the built in intent java.
is there a chance that this version support internet over proxy settings. lixe vor o2 wap flat. i canĀ“t find find reg settings like for the built in midletmanager on my hermes.

I tried the tiny version first, then the full version and it didn't make a difference
Can you redo the cab so when we install it, we have choice to where we want to install it? I want ot install it into my storage card. Thanks!
Also, anyone having problems getting the shortcut parameters "-xjam:run=1" to work? I had it working w/ the older version of the Java. This automatically runs the first program in the menu, which makes it more convenient than having to manually choose it.
Thank-you
Yes thank-you that helped me too.
Hi
Sorry for my supid question but : what is the difference with this one and the midlet manager already installed on HTC devices ? Is it a version for developpers ?

Probably - you will not see any differences. Me too
In my opinion: IBM Java for Linux is the best of the best. I believe that IBM knows everything about Java. I believe, that J9 is the best of the best too
But probably midlets are not too complicated to see any differences between Java Virtual Machines

J9 gave me nothing compared with Intent.
In fact, I find it panifully slow compared to the former one. For example, it takes almost 25 seconds for MGMaps to load a screen with J9, 8 to 10 seconds for Intent...

Windows has yet to make windows mobile phones compatible with windows sideshow as promised and I'm sure many people know this already. [Q] Flashed to 7.8 - whats next?

Hi!
First of all - thanks for everyones hard work and contribution to the windows phone platform! I havent tried unlocking my device before but figured it was no point in waiting for samsung anymore. And if the device gets bricked - it would be a good reason to buy a W8 device
Anyway. I flashed the "WP7.8_7.10.8858.13 6_NT_18L_V1_by_ansar" and everything seems to work fantastic!
So. What to do now? I would like to try and sideload apps and all that..But Im not sure where to look or what kind of xap-installer to use or anyting. If homebrew works or... Also, it would be cool to test the Nokia apps - I understand it is possible to change the "device name" with a registry editor app?
I would be thrilled if someone could point me in the best direction to be able to discover and.....re-imagine
Peace out!
Search Google/the forums man!
I'll point you in the right direction though.
Google "Bazaar" which is a homebrew app marketplace. On XDA if you see a .XAP (WP7 app) attachment you can "Click for QR code" then if you go to Bing search on your phone, click vision and point it at your computer screen, the app will download to your phone thanks to the custom ROM you've installed.
Registry editors etc are available on Bazaar.
Some Nokia apps are available in the WP7 Development & Hacking - Apps & Games section of XDA.

Do i understan correctly the rom is deliberately locked and that I need root tools to unlock?
Tried to install apps from bazaar - but it claims my device isnt fully unlocked. Do I need to start with bazaar for PC to be able to install root tools and then give permission to bazaar? Because I installed root tools - but it also demands unlocking.

See if there is a program installed called Root Manager. This is basically the permissions app, go into it and toggle Bazaar and any other apps you install to allow them to have root access, which they need.

Phew! Finally got wp7 root tools 1.0 to work. Dont know why it didnt work the first time. JMaybe because I downloaded it from the computer and sent it to the phone. This time I just went to wp7roottools.com on the phone and downoaded and installed.
Bazaar, here I come.
Btw, whats next after that?
Sry. But this is like christmas !
which is your build version ?
Hi,
I am new to this forumn, am planning to purchase Samsung Omnia for the sole purpose of jailbreaking/unlocking it.
What should be the build version which can be rooted
Does this "WP7.8_7.10.8858" indicate the build version ?
Any help is higly appreciated.
Thanks,

Not sure I understand you correctly..Do you mean a required version to be able to flash from? You need to flash the MAGLDR so I dont think it will matter wich version you have, pre-flash.

Clock Tile and QuickLaunch 2.0

Hi,
Some of you may have seen the great work done on Dynamics 2.0 with those two apps you can't get elsewhere. If for some reason you had to change rom (i couldn't edit my APN settings with Dynamics 2.0 so i turned myself to septvies dev_7.10.8862 1.5 Rom) you may be missing thoses.
We can actualy find the Clock Tile xap :
http://mediafire.com/download/kt8n79jq1bbkvia/Clock_Hub_v1.0.0.0.xap
but when you pin it the tile says "Clock Hub native part isn't running. Wait a little." ... for ever
And you can't find at all QuickMenu 2.0xap
I'm asking if there is a technical reason to this
(Clock Tile isn't a stand alone xap so you'll probably need to modify something in the os to make it work, it might be the same for quickmenu 2.0)
And if it is technical, if there is a solution to make those two apps work ?
But maybe its a policy reason ? To get thoses apps working only on the Dynamics Roms ?
I send an MP to ultrashot, and might edit this post with a solution if there is one.
Anyway thanks to all the xda developpers, doing a great work for our devices.
can someone with the dynamics rom can try to xap the quick launch app ? to see if its portable to other roms unlike clocktile ?
Maybe the developer can help you
ultrashot said he would release clockhub later (no time for now) and it will probably be available on early july.
For quick launch, he didn't say anything, can someone with Dynamics 2.0 can make a xap of it with program manager ? to see if it works on other roms ?

no, i found it on the "Dynamics 2.0" thread. Someone uninstalled it by mistake and needed it again. It worked for him with this xap, but he had the dynamic Rom.

It should try to take it with program manager.
Normally it will work.
ok, we need a volonteer with the Dynamic 2.0 Rom to make xap of Quick Launch and ClockHub with program manager. Send us the files see if it works.
there is no problem making the XAPs but clocktile wont work on other roms since it relies on a native exe. I have attached the two files. I would really love a working clocktile.

The dynamics 2.0 owners shared it themselves on their thread. But they only shared the xap, not the natives files. Are you sure they are restricted ? i unpacked the Xap and found a readme saying we could use the code for our own applications if we quote the author. I guess it also means we can port the app to another rom ?

I got the same thing, it seems to be just stuck at boot because some required service isn't starting properly.
You can still connect to your device with adb and go to /system/app and delete Vending.apk (and perhaps also GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk GoogleLoginService.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk ) files and your device will boot, albeit without google services.
Your other option is to reflash.
I can confirm that this tools can root the 2.1 update safely[emoji106]
