Which model is more supported? MK808 or 809 - Android Stick & Console RockChip based Computers

I see tons of views/replies for MK809 compare to MK808. However, I see Finless ROM (please correct me if I am wrong) is created for MK808, although is compatble with MK809. Which one is actually more supported by the development commnunities?

Mk808 no doubt

Advent Vega vs the Google-sanctioned tablets

How does the Advent Vega stack up against the current Android 3.x devices? It certainly seems to have a design similar to the Motorola Xoom and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9/10.1.

I think its about the same hardware but in order to get the same performance you must have a device optimized firmware like they do.
So the issue here is making a good and stable firmware that can use all the Vega´s juice.
I'm unable to find clear images of the device, but it is a landscape oriented tablet. Does it share any similarities with the casing of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1?

It is much cheaper...
I guess it has lots of potential, but it's the software that's keeping it from using. If there comes a official 3.0, it is going to be a opponent for the other tablets, I guess...
Hmm. In my opinion the main difference is in the screen. It's no where near as clear as on the more expensive devices.

You think? I just think the screen is well, except for the view-angle. But anyway, when you are using your tablet, you mostly sit right in front, so its no big issue for me...

Maybe some help for an ics port

So I didn't want to mess up the dev section with this so I thought Id post this here. Seems the g2x deb's have an ics port. Seeing how it also uses a tegra 2 thought it might help out the work for our port.

thanks!!!! other question: best custom rom? miui porting work fine ?
There is no custom rom that is the best. You have to look around and see review and comment on the Rom and bugs that it might have.
I personally use xylon.
Also miui is still a port, not officially ready for a daily driver

Best bit of advice anyone here can give you is too read my friend. Even the question you asked if you think about why would there be a difference in simply storage size that would effect the phone. There is a lot of useful information and tweaking that can be done. Do yourself a favor and explore but be safe and smart before doing anything....
Personally I think the 8GB is fine, I have the 16GB myself but I regret it as I keep most of my stuff (music/pictures/videos) on the cloud...
In terms of ROM support either will be plenty, if you see a ROM that uses 8GB of internal memory you should avoid it like the plague anyway.
Just look at what you use on your sdcard on your current device and take it from there, IMO.
My favourite ROM is Root box, it has most of the desirable features from all the other main ROM distributions (CyanogenMod, AOKP, Paranoid Android).
If you like simplicity, stick with stock or MIUI.

The above posts are proof that there is no best custom ROM in the same way there's no best colour. It's a completely subjective question, so there's no right answer. If you want to fine the most popular ROM then you can just check out the thread in the general forum.

This is great news, reading through the thread it appears that 1080p smooth video playback has been achieved. Great!
The only issue is on the MK908 that wifi seems to be quite throttled. Until this has been fixed I think my MK908 will stay in the draw, but shouldn't be too long.

I wonder if it works also on MK802iV ... anyone tested it on Rikomagic?
From what i've read it works on the t428, mk908 and cx919 dont know for the mk802iv but you can ask on the forum there and they'll answer you

It's only a beta test fix so far, and this is supposed to be fixed in SDK 2.0 anyway. So if Tronsmart is good enough to kick out an update with an SDK 2.0 kernel then we should get working streaming.
I wonder if they will go to 4.3. heh heh. guessing no, but it would be nice. Not impressed with 4.2
Strauzo is also refusing to share his work as part of some misguided quest against Rockchip so others have started working on it and appear to have found a solution too. Their work is ongoing but if anything, this has convinced me I need to learn more about linux so that I can fault find myself and compile kernels for these stick devices.
I was seriously surprised at the lack of development of custom roms and kernels for these devices when I started looking into them. Thought it would be a popular field for developers as the sticks are so cheap and uptake by the general public can only increase with the publicity around tv sticks in general caused by the Chromecast and in android tv units by the release of Ouya.
phjanderson from freaktab found a solusion to rk3188 video lags to.
he made some custom kernels
hoabycsr has released a 4.2.2 ROM of his own creation with his own kernel for the MK908 and is continuing to develop. I'm about to install and give it a go hopefully tonight.

Is this simply a new ROM & Kernel? Or is there something more to it?

I would leave android behind If there is a way to run android apps at full performance on Ubuntu Touch. Otherwise, I'll dual boot.

I don't know your phone but there is a solution that is supposed to work on every phone with Android img files available. I haven't tried it yet. Try it on your own risk! I won't be responsible for any bricks! (I recommend searching the internet about that first.) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2651425
I would suggest a phone with good UT support though. Nexus 4 for example. We don't know how long it will be supported though. They might switch to the newer Nexus 5.

it says the note 2 is supprted but only th At&t model # is listed. any ports to sprint? (i'll check as well, but i need 10 posts to ask in developer spots sadly)
---------- Post added at 06:34 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:28 AM ----------
yeah nvm. found it. it's still non-sprint. but there is a spot on the ubuntu website telling people how to port it, i know very little coding but i'll see if i can make heads or tails of it
Actually, a port was started here. It seems he barely got it up and running, not wanting to do any further optimization until Ubuntu Touch was further along. It appears there hasn't been much developement for quite a while. I hope development returns for the Wave I&II, but I suspect the hardware just won't be up to the task.
