Use search and buy an unlock code?
Tapped out from my sexy nexus 7

Try HTC SuperTool by ACSyndicate. Try searching for it, it is an application that work well with windows 7 (haven't tried it with anything else). It will attempt to s-off your phone as long as other things.

He's asking about network unlock not bootloader......
We tried for many days to find an unlock method but it never was found..... You will have to pay for a service.

It has the option to s-off your device which switches off the sim lock. I haven't had to try it though but it is something you can try

Mine was locked and after i rooted it and s-off and flashed custom rom in my case it was cm7 it was unlocked.
I used CM guide to root etc. revolutionary... all they said i did and thats it.

The real question is, where are the people selling the codes getting them from???

[Q] Unlocking a hd2 and then installing android. will this remove the sim unlock?

Hi I want to sim unlock my hd2, and then install Nandroid operating system onto it. Will this effect the sim unlock? , was talking to a man in a shop and he said it might. Its one I have for sale and someone wants this doing to it, Its locked to T mobile uk at the moment.
p.s did do a quick search but am at work so shouldnt be on her
Thanks
Short answer is NO.
If you want to sim unlock your device you need to contact your provider.
Go to a store where they can unlock it for you or buy a code on the internet.
Good Luck
thanks for the reply, but what i meant was if i have it unlocked, then install nandroid will this remove the sim unlock?
No, i can guarantee you it wont. I got mine unlocked and had no problem switching SIM cards in WP7, Android or WM 6.5 . Cheers.
quick question to anyone that can answer this....
can you sim unlock while android is installed..i called tmobile requested the code but dkno if i can unlock with android running
I'm not 100% guaranteed, but i think that even runing android you can unlock your phone
I'd assume that you would be able to once Android recognizes your IMEI so yeah it should work.

Hi, and if i will re-flash a WM ROM???
the unlock will be?
Let's say this once, for the benefit of anyone else who reads this thread:
SIM UNLOCKING YOUR HD2 IS UNAFFECTED BY ROM CHANGES.
Once you SIM unlock the device, regardless of operating system currently installed, it will stay SIM unlocked even through ROM changes, including WP7/Android/WM6.5/etc/etc.

A quick question

Hi I owned a t mobile g2 touch when I had it I rooted it using the goldcard method, I have now given it to a friend who is on the o2 network he took it into a local phone shop who said they would sim unlock it, 2 days passed and now they say they cant do it as it has custom firmware :-( what do I need to do for him to be able to use it?

As far as I know sim unlock has nothing to do with Custom rom or any other rom..
You could try http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/
I used them to unlock my HTC HD7 and were preety quick with the code.. might have to pay via paypal though

If this is out of the equation for the time being is the only option to pay for an unlock code online? If so what are the recommended sites, as I have been ripped off before.

It is very likely you could pay your operator to unlock it. About sites, I never used one so I won't recommend anything.
If you aren't in LG8 or LG6 firmwares you can still use Voodoo Unlock app from supercurio website: project-voodoo.org
I'm on xLite 1.4.0 XXLH1. I got my phone from Phones4U (UK) and I'm on Orange (UK) when I tried to sim unlock it gives me an error code when I try use x#XXXX# commands. Now when I swap it for my simcard with T-Mobile (UK) I can make calls etc but in my STATUS in ABOUT PHONE it doesn't display my phone number, it just displays 00000000000 and on the Orange it does display the number.
So really it is unlocked but not fully unlocked? I know you can't really get half and half but it seems like it in this case. I haven't tried the manual way of unlocking but I will at one point, just want advice.
---------
Edit: Just noticed that my firmware is higher than most. Will degrade and try app again but will still check back and follow advice from you all!

yes there is a very easy way to do that you dont need to unlock your device for that. go to this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2015467 , download the nexus 10 toolkit and install the drivers , enable debugging on your device, then select root unroot options , from there choose root + install busy box , then select superSU. and you are good to go , root without unlocking or any custom recovery.

absolutely. i havent tried though , but in theory it surely will.
And if a new os comes out all I have to do is unroot right?

From what I've read here, root only works for the primary user. I could be wrong, but you might want to do some more research on that subject.

That would be fine actually b/c I don't want to provide my technologically weak parents with super user powers lol
But I just don't want to go through the trouble of unlocking and losing my data

Sorry harrisfayyaz, but are you sure?
I rooted my N10 some days ago with this tool and tried it without Unlocking. It did not work for me - app told me I have to unlock first before rooting. Just would like to know if I was just dumb or not ^^
Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003938. It works for 100%. I did it already twice (once on 4.2.1 and then again on 4.2.2). Nexus is rooted, but lock is still there. Run *.bat file without unlocking - it works.
I dont want to doubt what you are writing but the OP from the topic says:
Note: If you are using a retail device, you may need to unlock the bootloader first, using './fastboot-windows oem unlock' (or the appropriate version for your machine, included in this zip). Note that the OEM unlock sequence wipes your device, so consider doing an 'adb backup' beforehand if required!

No, through Amazon from US. So in my opinion you always can try. In worse case if it requires unlock it doesn't root your Nexus.
I also read first post but in next part of thread users noticed that unlock is unnecessary. I tried it twice and works every time

After root, lock your Nexus by NRT.
this method worked for me
however it was a pain to get drivers working, i had to get universal naked drivers
one question, will future otas work?
Should work as long as you don't change system files (OTA checks hash codes of them).
I also used universal naked drivers.
