Unless there is another computer with DNS Server in your ad-hoc network, you won't get an IP address in ad-hoc. I haven't used ad-hoc on my phone, so not sure about manual IP addressing, but if wifi is connected (connection established) you should get the advanced option.

Change Hermes ip for tethering.

I need to tether my hermes to a pc at work that's already part of a network where the server's ip is 192.168.0.1, when tethering my phone, the phone uses the same exact ip. Is there a way for me to have the phone use another ip, say 192.168.3.1 so that I can use it with pc's that are already running on a network with that other ip?
Thanks your help would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a way to do this? By registry maybe? Any ideas?
Anyone knows of a program or something?
It depends which tethering method you're using
but basically, do this
Comm Manager / Settings /Wireless Lan / Menu / Network Cards / Network Adapters /
then click on whatever network interface you're using (lets take Bluetooth PAN Driver for example)
Use Speficic IP address
IP Address: 192.168.0.100 or whatever
Subnetmask : 255.255.255.0
Thanks, that's helpful!
The Bluetooth PAN program I have is looking for the MAC address, not the IP address. Any ideas on how I can determine that?

Not a single reply?
Use your router settings to do it, add a reserved IP address for your nexus 4.
IF you want to do it on the phone just long press the network, click modify, then show advanced options, then change IP address to static instead of DHCP

Yeah ... two different MAC addresses. But this happens only once.
Now my MAC is not changing. I don't know the reason though.

MAC ID change
HI,
My MAC ID changed when I rooted the phone. When it was unrooted, it went back to the old MAC ID.
But, it doesnt change random. Just the two MAC ID's on rooting and unrooting.
A wi fi adapter must have only one MAC id, but do not know why this happens

yes it is changing between 2 different mac id.
I added both mac to router's access list, so no problem now.
Wifi mac changes issue
Yesterday, I reset Yureka and It changed MAC Address. There are lots of other bug with this device. Not happy with software.
My phone is just a day old and found the Mac address to be changing after reboots.
Though Not after every reboot the problem is evident. Is this a software issue or a Hardware issue ?
Can some one guide me in the right direction ?
