[Q] What cant be done with odexed rom - Galaxy 3 General

Hi,
i dont like deodexing, because it takes too much space and its unstable.
So I decided to make my own rom based on JPU. I want to know, what features cant be done without deodexing from top roms like Kyorarom or Kyrillos rom.
Hope someone will answer me.

Like the person above said, basically you can't theme the phone. This includes themed apps etc. All this is not really needed so an odexed ROM in my opinion is better than a de-odexed and it's faster.

Poll with custom roms would be great tho

I'm using Goatrip. Very fast, very stable.
You wont find the answer here, every rom is special and you just need to test and try. By testing you also learn how to safely manage your phone, and this knowlege is must-have i you are planning to use custom roms. Enjoy your testing.

If you are really interested, search for the thread with a list of roms, then create a poll based on that list...
The best rom is the one that makes your phone look "cooler", adds nice features and got NO BUGS....
One tip for you: When testing custom roms (and kernels) stay on RFS, dont go converting the file system just yet.
The best custom rom / optimized kernel is the one that makes your tel. smooth and responsive WITHOUT the need off LAGFIXES / File system conversions...SPECIALLY on Gingerbread which got a more optimized RFS
For example: Criskelo's Rom

And thats called the SGS 2

Or Stock JS8 on SGS
I have Gb Tweaky_ROM_RC2 and it's very fast and stabe.

Other than the fact that JPY is still proven to be the fastest 2.2.1 firmware for the SGS.
stock deodexed JVB with tweaks (glow, crt off, tw4.0, cwm, 5-lock, ext menu)
so yeah it's like my own personalized rom

So I did a first time flash to darky's 9.5 the other day and immediatly after applied the voodoo lagfix that came with it... you say converting the file system is bad if playing around with different roms... is there a way for me to convert the file system back to rfs? thanks.
Use either the included voodoo control app or boot to recovery and disable lagfix.
When on darky's though visit darky's site and flash the newer Dark Core kernel here
Personally stay off GB Rom's until a final official bug free base is released by samsung.
If you want to play around a bit more with the look of your phone look at themes's and also alternative launchers (Launcher Pro & ADW Launcher Ex)
I will have to agree with others though, it's down to personal preference, me I always used Doc's Rom Kitchen, then Darky 9.5 came alone and I've tried others including GB and ALWAYS go back to darky's.
i have only used Darky and romkitchen. Both easy to use and clear instructions.

Ok yeah I plan on staying with darky's 9.5 until the Bell GB update comes out. I love it so far. Amazingly fast and stable. Plus my battery life has gone up tenfold.
I just wanted to make sure that I can undo the lagfix easily (with the voodoo control app) when the Bell update comes out.
Cheers!

According to curio, the SGS2 has ext4 and no Rfs, thus lagfixes are unnecessary.

[Q] Dharam's ROM Collection - Should I? - For those who cant post in Dev Section

Hey everyone,
I am planning to develop Custom ROM's as follows:
Stock
Stock Ultimate
Clean
Clean Ultimate
Ultra Clean
Ultra Clean Ultimate
Battery Saver
The features of each ROM version will be decided and then the ROM will be finalized and uploaded.
I am also planning to develop each of the above version for different BASE ROM's like
JPM
JPN
XWJPF
DDJP2
The reason to develop the following ROM's is not to provide final CUSTOM ROM's but Basic Custom ROM's which the users can then customize as per their requirements...
SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT ME TO WORK ON THIS COLLECTION...
NOTE: If there is not much response then I will work on something else other than this...
Dont take it as bad dhram bro...but many of us or atleast me is fed up of custom roms...coz in every rom nothing new...new theme and just new apps that v can download through market too....so its better you work on something else....hope you will take as an advice...;-)

[REQUEST] 4 in 1 reboot mod for MR2

Could someone please make the 4 in 1 reboot into a flashable mod for rooted stock MR2 Froyo? (Specifically Official 1.70.605.0 MR2 OTA Deodexed Rooted Busybox) I know there are roms that currently have it, but they also have stability issues and considerably more features that I just don't want.
Thanks and awesome job on everything you devs do. You guys are what makes droid phones worth having.
BAMF roms have it and are the most stable roms I have found. They may have more features than you want though, I wish they had a stripped 1.8.6 (because 1.8 doesn't work with the mr2radio) that sounds like the Rom you would want as well.

Yeah those were good roms, but like you said, too many features. Custom boot animations, battery icons, etc. Much more than I want. I'll keep begging and maybe somebody will take pity on me and make it.
Thanks

SUBSTITUTE FOR Lite'ning Rom v6.1 WHICH CAN BE FLASHED WITH NO WIPES

People are waiting for an update on Lite'ning Rom v6.1 since a long time but no news from LITEPRO the maker. I really wish that LITEPRO does come up with an awesome update on lite'ning rom asap but atleast there should be an alternative to it.
I would appreciate if people can please come up with their own experiences and share their valuable information on which Rom one can install that can substitute the Lite'ning Rom without any wipes.
Things that we are looking for in another ROM are as similar to the Lite'ning Rom and they are as follows:
1. Lightning fast speed
2. NO BUGS
3. The rom can be installed without any wipes
4. Regular Updates to be made available
5. All the features that lite'ning rom contained.
Looking forward for my XDA family to come up with the best possible solution.

Nothing to do with development either...
I'm too looking for other ROM.... but its to dificult....
Look all the ROM post.....
always has bug and usually has stranges themes with a lot of pictures....
I prefered the stock rom Look and a lite Blue theme.....
If you see the others...... has a lot off updates ... NOT for new base... only for include beta or news modules and packages that late fail and produce BUGS.
I can't remenber more than 5 or 6 bugs... on ROM.....
Please, tell me your next ROM.
I thinking to test :

Exactly, it has nothing to do with development nor contributes anything new other then what is floating around in all of the threads.
Not having a bash but if you wan to know what ROMs are out there to use, simply try them.
Everyone will experience different bugs as people use different add-ons like themes, diallers, kernels etc so a bug for one person isnt for another.
If you like a ROM, read the thread from the OP of that ROM, they generally have a changelog, FAQ's etc in the first few posts that will tell you if its a no wipe etc.
Backup always via CWM to revert back if youre unhappy and honestly, try all the ROM's so you can judge for yourself. If you read the first few pages you generally wont go wrong, espeically with a backup.
Something like a collective Kernel thread etc should be a sticky as that benefits everyone, not this.
I went from litening, to criskelo, cognition, skyrom and now leomar revolution. All no wipe and phones running great but thats with my setup, yours may be different so give it a go.

[ROM] [XXKI3] LeoMar75 Rom Revolution v2.7.1 - Kitchen App
this thread is only been made to get a good solution.......
i know there is no development involved in it but atleast this will help many people who are confused for which rom they should get for their phone. This will surely help many people to take a sensible decision.....
I've noticed that Wi-Fi direct doesn't work fine on lightening 6.1. I hope litepro will fix it. I don't to move to another rom cause I'm quiet satisfied with this one.
why is this in development?
Should be in Q&A.
This thread is pointless, just move on to another rom. It wont kill you to try roms that arent outdated
And the great thing about making a CWM backup (nandroid) is that you can flash new roms to your hearts content and if you don't like it, you can be back up in 2 minutes using restore. I am sure you'll find something you like. For me, I love Batista ROM it has blue themes and much more
Leomar75 rom. really a revolution rom. great in everything.
how is the battery life in this rom LEOMAR??

I used lite'ning rom for months and loved it.
Now using batista 2.1 and loving it just as much, if not more.

I was in the same position as the OP - loved LR but didn't want to get left behind with no updates from LitePro.
I've just moved to CriskleoROM today and after a minor hitch that required a reflash, it's working flawlessly.
Seems super fast.
Can't reliably report on battery life until 2nd or 3rd recharge cycle, but from what I have read it seems to be as good if not better than LR

doubt between roms

hello ..
I tried several custom roms on my SGY, but many have bugs and other bad things ...
which rom you guys recommend me to put on my SGY (not like odex) (I like Deodex)
and also see people say that Stock Kernel which is bad recommend placing?
i'm noob!
all features have a proper explaination,
they are also available when you search in google,
stock kernel is fine and works really well,
there are just added features present in custom kernels,
there is a difference between odex and deodex (you can google that)
there is clearly no rom which is perfect without bugs...you can stick to stock if you want a bug free rom
For me. You should stick with your stock rom. But if you're a little techy and you want an os that is not compatible with our SGY, try out Custom Roms. I recommend Nemesis Rom hd v1.1. It has bugs but devs already have a solution. Just google it

I suppose you are not the marketing head of nemesis.
That rom is banned for a reason and you are not allowed to talk anything about it. It is not an os made compatible with our phone, it is indeed a themed version of stock rom.
