Worst Gadget Buy EVER !!!

I have been wanting and waiting on the Xperia for a year now. Ever since they first started talking about it on the web. I pre-ordered the phone through Dynamism and cancelled the order twice with each delay. I heard that many people were ordering from Expansys and decided that since they had them in stock, I would give them a try.
Thursday morning I tried to order the Xperia from them with my Paypal account when there were 7 available units on their website. I had to jump through many hoops because my confirmed address with Paypal is a Post Office Box and Fed Ex will not deliver to a PO Box .. I scanned envelopes as requested by Expansys, showing that I received deliveries at my office address. I kept checking by telephone to see if their order department received the scans. A few hours later they said 'yes they had finally received the scans of my office delivery address, but now the phone was SOLD OUT.' I was told to keep checking the website to see when more units become available .." Expansys issued a refund to Paypal, but Paypal has not yet released it to me because the money I paid with came from my bank and they have to wait until that clear, which it did, but Paypal gave me some lame excuse ... Said I will have the refund within 4 business days.
Late in the day I saw the Expansys website was showing 72 available units. Quickly I called their UK office - My 6th international call in one day, can't wait to get the bill. The UK office was now closed and my call was forwarded to the USA .. I was talking to the USA at international rates
Spoke with someone named **** in the USA office. He said that even though the site says 72 units available, he can't say for sure if there really are any until I place an order. Said I could try and purchase one and see what happens.. So I did.
First I explained "I can't afford to have more money taken from my account if there aren't going to be any available phones." and he assured me that my debit card will NOT be charged if the phones are on back order.
I entered the debit card info, but with the wrong expiration date and the order didn't go through ... their computer retried the card 3 times and that put a lock on my card. I didn't know why it wasn't going through, or that the card was now destroyed, but since I have two bank accounts I used my other debit card.
That card was approved but inventory once again showed NO PHONES AVAILABLE. **** was on the line with me while I was ordering and on the line when the message came back NONE AVAILABLE .. He was still on the line when I logged into my online banking and sure enough, the failed order placed another hold on $800+ It will take 4 days for that hold to be removed. There is nothing I can do, my bank can do or Expansys can do to release the funds..
Last night when my bank saw another attempt to charge from Expansys.com they thought they were doing me a favor and froze that card too. I couldn't buy a cup of coffee at McDonald's this morning with either card and when I called my bank to ask why, they told me what had happened and why both cards were locked.
It didn't matter that my bank locked my second card, because by now there wasn't much money left ..
BUT BEFORE MY ACCOUNTS WERE FROZEN ..
I read here that someone was selling some Xperias on eBay .. person has great feedback etc ... With the last of my money I tried again. He shipped UPS yesterday morning and now .. more than 24 hours later .. my phone is still in customs in London for 'unknown reasons.' I was supposed to be getting it tomorrow ..
SO ... other than THAT Mrs. Lincoln .. How was the play ???

Man I can't believe what you've dealt with trying to get an X1. After all the frustration and stress you deserve it for free but we all know they're definitely not giving these things away . Wish I would have posted something sooner about Clove's service because they made the wait manageable and handed things very professionally.
Anyhow, props on being so patient and persistent! Let us know when it finally arrives and I certainly hope it is soon. Once you do get it, you won't regret it.....it's an awesome device.

I just checked with UPS again. They still can't tell me where the package is, why it hasn't moved or when I will receive it. I put a stop pay on my Paypal payment. I don't think I want this phone anymore. I am surely not going to pay a high dollar for it .. I will wait until something new comes out. This experience has taken all the fun out of the phone ...

If you imported it from the US to the uk and customs have nabbed it, I'm sorry to say that you'll probably have to pay 17.5% tax, with some random £8 or so fee to boot.
I've had the same when ordering memory from ebay, I had to pay an extra £50 on top of what I'd paid, as well as waiting 3-4 days for customs to get their finger out of their...

It is coming from the UK to the USA .. Hasn't moved for 48 hours. This is my thought. The package is going to my office. A coin shop. the word "coin" is in the name of the business. I forgot to tell the seller to remove that. My bet is on that someone at UPS thought it was full of coins and opened it. Then tossed it aside when they didn't find any. If it had contained coins, I would have received an empty box.
ALSO.. Our insurance company will no longer insure packages that are shipped UPS for this exact same reason.

I dont know, maybe it wasnt meant to be.

Gutted, I hope it does turn up for you, I'd be mightily miffed (as I was when ordering that memory) if anything got delayed.
I'm waiting for word from Vodafone UK when they get some xperias in stock, I'm exchanging my Touch Pro as I've had a quick go on an xperia one of my colleagues has gotten his hands on and I'm quite impressed by the responsiveness compared to the TP.

You basically screwed your self 3 times here trying to get this phone. Chill out and wait till you know for sure. Customs does this **** all the time, they can take anything they want and hold it for as long as they want. Happens to me all the time with shipments from Thailand for my company. You definitely shouldn't have done Paypal, then had them refund it, and then use your debit card (with the same company) the same day for the phone again, that was stupid. You should have just given the money via paypal and been the first to get the phone when it was back in stock. I am sure you have another phone you can use in the meantime.

OK .. my final post on this subject - Got my last payment refunded by the ebay seller. Of course, gotta wait for it to clear before I get access to that money. Have first payment still on hold in Paypal and the second on hold at my bank .. but the GOOD NEWS IS ..
My regular gadget seller has one coming to me overnight - saturday delivery .. He just got his shipment in. I buy most of my gadgets from him and he is totally reliable and honest .. in case anyone is looking .. In fact. Sometimes he has things that he hasn't up on his website yet. Thats how it was with my Blackberry Bold and my HTC Touch Pro .. just tell him Diane sent you .. you won't be disappointed .. EVER !!

He was a lagging a little behind the UK -- - but I had asked him weeks ago to let me know when he got the xperia in and at noon he sent me an email saying he had some. Expansys is a great place to buy from. Just make sure you're buying through your country. Being in the US and buying from expansys UK is a huge hassle. You should have bought through expansys USA. http://www.expansys-usa.com we had 4 arrive today.

Oh man, you really need that phone so bad I'm still waiting it to be released officially in Hungary, though I could buy it already trough UK stores. Nothing's worth so much trouble with customs and foreign online stores
BTW Expansys sells the X1 at a very expensive price, I wouldn't recommend to buy it from them.

I'm looking forward to the xperia, from what I've seen of a mate's phone, it's more responsive and is much better for playing and recording videos than my Touch Pro. I'll miss the keyboard on my TP though...

I did and he confirmed they had them in stock, but my order is still in review. I'll feel better when my order goes through and they send me the tracking.

Just talked to Martin at GSMnation. Mine wont ship until Friday. They have had 50-60 orders for this phone in two days. Apparently they've been shipping them out this week, Hopefully BagOfSnakes got his in a lot earlier than my order so he gets his by Friday.

Mine still hasn't shipped either, I got feeling they put this up for sale without knowing exactly when the product was arriving. I've been keeping a close eye on the internets and comparing online retailers. I posted the day they put the Arc up for sale. Unless they had tons of preorders we should be the first few. But I don't even think they had a North American Arc up for preorder at all. They already charged my CC too. That better mean they actually have the phone in their possession to be sent.

I contacted their live chat today and asked about the Silver color. They said that they plan on selling the silver color soon and he advised me to check back next week.
Just wanted to share this info in case people are interested in the silver like I am.

I spoke to the SE folks last month and they mentioned that they did not have a release date for the US. They mentioned that it was going on sale in Canada towards the end of April and that an unlocked version would be available in Canada towards the mid-end May timeframe.
Hopefully, the information I got was incorrect and you guys get your phone soon!

Well, their website says "In Stock - Ships within 24-48 hours". So hopefully you should get yours no later than Tuesday.

YEA i spoke to them this morning and he told me the phone was in stock. i asked him when is my order being ship he said 24/48(ordered mine last night) hours to process orders so looks like im getting it next week ... i also asked the guy for the SGS2 he said it was schedule to arrive this week or latest next one...

I wanted one of these when they first came out. Beautiful tablet screen wise but no USB port was a deal breaker.

I ordered one around 1am est the day of the sale and still no shipment. I hear this company can take up to 2 weeks to ship out a product. From what i hear the company takes orders first. Then they order the stock for the number of orders they had. It seems like they dont have the product on hand before they sell it which is a really bad practice. You cant really short sell in the retail industry.
If i dont get a shipping notofication by Wens i will be calling them. Ill update this thread if my Tab 10.1 ships.

Yea that is kinda what pisses me off about this company. You are quick to take my money but you aren't quick to send the product. That to me is just foul. I already sent them an email asking about my purchase. I don't even know if i'm gonna get a cancelation because they are out of stock.

In their defense they have a policy to ship within 6 business days. After today 9/20 its only been 4 business days. Which is why im gonna call on Fri if they dont ship.
On the BBB there arent too many complaints. Woot actually has a lower business rating than dailysteals. And ive yet to have a problem with woot. So idk

Well i bought it because the price was good. The wait isnt bad as long as it ships this week.
However in my excitement i went over to the tab 10.1 forum and i noticed that the 10.1 has a high percentage of users reporting newton rings. So now im a bit upset, with my luck the tab i get will have this problem.
I love my galaxy tab 7 i hope ill love this 10.1

Hi, new member today! I'm in the same boat in regards to patiently waiting for my 10.1 to ship from Daily Steals. When I ordered it, I completely missed the part where it said, "up to 6 business days before it ships". I had a refurb 32gb on order from Fry's but cancelled it when I saw this one.
I've called, emailed and chatted with Daily Steals and I've gotten the same canned response. As I explained to them, I can understand waiting 1-2 weeks for a $10 or $20 item but to go 5 or 6 days with no updates on a $350 tablet is inexcusable.
The other thing that would be helpful, is having a message board on their site like WOOT. This would alleviate a lot of anxiety when waiting.

Update. Live Chat is a complete waste of time with Daily Steals. The only thing they could/would tell me is that it would ship within a day or two.

Beach Camera via eBay had them for $299 this morning. Lasted only about an hour. Sold out fast........

I 100% agree. I would be ok if they were actually going to send me the tab lol. I'm expecting another Touchpad incident where i bought one and like 4 days later they send me a cancelation. Which made it much harder for me to buy one any place else. I've seen the Gtab 10.1 on ebay for 350 plenty of times so the deal wasn't amazing but it was something i didn't have to wait for.... So i believed lol.

This is the response i got from dailysteals so i'm optimistic. I think they would know by now if they sold more than they had stock of. So i can wait now

I will call them in the morning to find out if they have any retail location. Google customer reviews are good and one customer was referring to a retail location in newyork.

Damn that's a good price. Lowest on Amazon is $699 right now. Tempted to pull trigger on this but still hesitant after returning my first gnote for screen issues. Let us know if you talk to them tomorrow...

the review is somewhat mixed for the site :x but ppl do get the phone they ordered. some come in perfect, some are locked, some are refurbished etc... so it's a gamble i guess. But since the note is still quiet new now, chance for a refurbished phone is pretty rare i suppose.

Definitely post back, please. I'd do a pickup too. But from their online rep, I'd wouldn't be surprised by bait 'n switch tactics. Most of the "good" comments are obviously manufactured - eg

Be careful!

I don't like the website it seems like they have everything.

Be very cautious of NYC based electronics websites. Unless it's a B&H Photo or other recognized business.
PATIENCE is the key. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by waiting awhile.
Prices will go down, Development will be more matured, Many more used devices to chose from. Maybe something new comes out that's better. I have never been an early adopter. I respect those who are and love being the first on the block. I have saved hundreds and had far less headache waiting a while. Just bought the wife's SGS II used for $400 with a lot of accessories chargers and batteries, I bought mine used, Warranty new was not an option in the US anyway, May as well buy from someone who made it work for them.
Probably buy a used Note as well.. in a few months or when I see used prices below $500.

I ordered through cell2get, after reading reviews I was nervous. Online it says nothing about being out of stock but after making the charge and ordering it I received an email thanking me for my order. About 2 hours later i received another email stating they were out of stock. The money is still "pending" and I have not been refunded yet.
Edit: After 5 days my money has been refunded to my account.

Orrrrr, they could be a crappy fly by night store in Brooklyn that I've never even heard of (I'm from the area). That quote was from their "about" page. Dishonest on the page, dishonest to the customer's face.

And don't forget to send the link to the cell2get price to convince the craigslist seller to drop the asking price Works like a charm

Bestbuy releasing early?

Left my local bestbuy last night and a couple blueshirts there told me that they would be releasing the S7 and S7 Edge this Monday. I was pre-ordering and asked when it came out and they told me I could pick it up on monday.
So if you preordered from bestbuy i'd recommend calling them and seeing if they are also releasing it early.

I don't know how truthful BestBuy is. I got my pre-ordered T-Mobile S7 on the 3rd of March and was told by my local BestBuy store that they had the Otterbox cases in stock for the S7. So I drive over to the store and find out that they have the cases in stock but won't be releasing them until the 11th of March because that's when the phones will be released. I will NOT be going back to BestBuy again!

I bought a surround sound system from them a month ago. He told me i was gonna get a discount and hed hook me up with an hdmi and optical cable. Then he was tryin to talk me into joinin their "rewards program" it was like every $100 you get a dollar or something. I was like, "it'd take me so long, im good" but i bought a tv a couple months before so he said i could get credit for that aswell. So finally i said, "well, your not gonna send me a bunch of emails if i sign up are you". He said, " haha noooooo"!
Long story kinda shortened.
I paid full price for the SS system.
I got a wopping $5 off a used hdmi cable. Which was $20
Paid full price for optical audio cable $25
Then at the end i said oh can we add my tv to the rewards program. (Of course the salesman left so i was left with some kid to check me out)
He said, "oh man we'd have to call customer service and i dont think theyd do it anyway"

Fine.......
The following weeks im flooded with best buy emails, i unsubscribe at least 10 times with no stop to it. Finally have to call a 800 number and scream at them to make it stop.
Yeah.... Best Buy can shove it...
Oh i ended up takin it back anyway so i got my money back. Hah

big thread on reddit about this: multiple best buy mobile employees confirmed it, and users who went there confirmed it. people got calls to pickup on monday too.
pisses me off bc i chose shipping instead of in store (for the first time ever with best buy) bc i was worried they'd run out of stock before my preorder was fulfilled, so i wouldn't be able to walk in friday and get it. did shipping, thinking they'll def have enough in a warehouse.
yeah, and now they release early lol. so mad.

Pre ordered from Best buy about 2 hours after they started taking pre orders and I haven't received notification yet.

You should. I heard about this from https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS7/comments/490phl/best_buy_preorders_go_out_monday/, and went to my local best buy to be sure. They had no idea what I was talking about, and reaffirmed the 11th as the release date. This was yesterday, today my GF got a call that our phones have arrived and that we can pick them up tomorrow.

My preorder confirmation said they would Email me when the items were ready. By chance, did they mention if the Gear VR was ready for pickup also?

Sorry, She didn't think to ask about the Gear VR. I'll call to ask. Our preorder confirmation states the same about notification of pickup.

Same thing happened to me. They had a Samsung rep there and I even showed him the phone, still wouldn't sell it. I went to U.S. Cellular, AT&T and even the new T-Mobile store in my town but neither had cases yet. Verizon store had the stuff out on display already so i bought my case and screen protector there.
I wondered who the *#&@ cares if I buy a piece of plastic for a phone that isn't "out yet"? I am giving you money, why do you care?! It was dumb as f.

Just got off the phone with my local BestBuy, they said that it should be no problem. She mentioned it would be FCFS based on available stock, dunno if this means you can get one shipped later, or if you are sol.

Well...that's kind of strange. The Best Buy website now shows the expected release date for the phone on my order as: "Null"?
The other 2 items still show expected release of 3-11-2016.
Edit: They just now changed the expected release date to 3-7-2016.

Guess they are finally shipping sooner than release date!

Yeah. I ordered two actually, got two seperate emails. I tried looking them up, but it says the name and phone number are wrong, didnt say anything about order number being wrong.
Edit: nevermind, it was under my old name. My att acct is kinda wonky haha.
