Anyone else having long boot times for the tablet? It's very annoying together with the sleep of death's and many random reboots.
My boot time is like at least 2 minutes, and I see people writing here it takes 20 seconds for them.
From the time I hold down the power button and get the first response on screen to "ready to use" is about 20 seconds on my tablet, that would be a fair estimate. I haven't timed it exactly.
Thanks for the reply. It's weird because it was like that for me at the start. But after some days it just started to take around 2 minutes. Never rooted or anything so no clue what it could be.
Mine takes a while too. Definately longer than 20 seconds, at least a minute.
Just started happening to me during my second day of use. Initially, boot up times were about 20 seconds. Everything seemed to be going well until this evening (second full day of ownership). I came home to see battery drop about 20% while on standby. Looks like "Cell Standby" was the culprit. No idea why this process would eat up battery considering this is WiFi only! Anyway, I also discovered two odds things: 1) it took significantly longer to boot up (about 2 minutes) and 2) I kept getting a warning about being out of space for apps, even though I had about 2GB of storage free.
Trying a hard reset now to see if it fixes these issues.
I noticed boot time increased right after the recent OTA update.

This just started happening within the last couple hours. I haven't recently installed/uninstalled ANYTHING, haven't messed with any settings, no reg. edits, nothing at all. When restarting, I notice that sometimes it takes longer that it usually does to load my today screen. I'm noticing no differences in RAM at startup. I notice, for example, going back and forth between tabs on HTC home, the phone will freeze for a couple seconds and resume working normally after that. When receiving a phone call, it takes FOREVER for it to respond when trying to accept or deny the call. While in a call, it responds terribly slow when trying to raise/lower volume. Sometimes going from portrait to landscape and vice versa even takes longer than normal. I've had ZERO problem with my Mogul since I first got it 4 months ago and now I'm ready to throw it out the damn window. What's the word guys? I can go on about a couple other things that the device is slowing on, but I think you guys get the picture. TIA.
On another note, I first noticed it doing this when I plugged the device into my car charger. After that, regardless of being on battery power or external power, it was sluggish like never before. I noticed today, my battery died faster than usual. About 1.5 hrs ago, it was at 40% charge, and within less than an hour it dropped down to 10%. I had data turned off all that time and I still noticed the battery drop as well as hotter than normal backplate. Could it be something with the power source? I remember once, quite awhile ago, my phone totally died and after I charged it for a bit and turned it back on, it ran the same way, hhhmmmmmmmmm.
My TF is behaving very odd lately. I have a dock with the tablet and the first few weeks that I have used it I could get literally 16 hours of use.
I use "Android System Info" to track my battery use. It is very accurate, and now its gone haywire. It reports that my tablet has an uptime of 3 days and 2 hours. It also reports that my uptime (without sleeps) is 13 hours and 30 minutes.
Now my actual settings (android os) tell me that my uptime is 1 day and 2 hours. Which is absolutely true (that's the last time I charged it).
Here's the funny part. The battery use menu tell me that the tablet has been "Awake" for many hours at a time and atleast 20 times more than the screen has been on.
And it's just BURNING thru my battery. It just plummeted from 38% to 14% in 20 minutes.
I don't have any suspicious apps on my TF, lol.
[Q] Is a factory reset my only option?
EDIT: This started happening immediately after I tried using Juice Defender. I uninstalled it, but the battery still drains like mad. Also my screen now turns on at random.
the hours being different from each other could be from removing it from the dock. I would back everything up and try and do a reset, it wouldnt hurt any. Then you can see if its a hardware issue or a setting that got changed.
I mean at this point I'm resetting my TF every few days messing around with things
Sorry if this is a stupid question I just need some clarification.
The battery usage screen shows how long you have been running on battery days, hours, minutes, seconds etc should this information be retained even after you power off, say you run it for 30 minutes on battery and power off when you turn it on again should it still show 30 minutes on battery and add on the new minutes or should it start from scratch again (0 seconds) ?

mine has been really inconsistent on my nexus. sometimes it'll be ahead a few hours but almost never does it exactly match up with the actual time. plus, it never updates if I press the refresh button. the only way to get it to refresh it to completely close the settings app and open it again. But yeah' a reboot tends to reset the counter.
So if its working correctly power off should reset the time counter because I'm sure this wasn't happening to mine at first hence the confusion plus the guide doesn't exactly read that way ?
That seems good
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
The battery usage stats carry on from where they left off from when the device was last powered down. They are only reset when it has been charged to 100% and unplugged.

Well that's what I thought it should do so I guess I'm unlucky then
The first one I had behaved that way for two weeks then started resetting back to 0 seconds after power off so I sent it back for another which I got today this also worked correctly until I charged it for the first time now that's also resetting back to 0 seconds after power off.
Not done anything to this one except install two apps, I sent the other one back because even a factory reset didn't solve the problem that was also on stock not unlocked or rooted.
Hey guys... first post, here we go!
I got my nexus over a week ago and to my surprise everything was perfect (ordered three of them, had to RMA two due to screen problems). Now I'm thinking of RMAing this one as well.
So everything was fine until two days ago I decided to charge my phone by plugging it in to my computer's USB port. Since then the battery (or the battery reading) is acting weird.
It seems that when I charge my phone through USB and then unplug it, it literally loses a % every minute, and then would stop at lets say 10%, and that 10% would last me for a good 45 minutes of screen time. My battery used to discharge one percent at a time, but now it seems like it's stuck on a certain percentage, and then some time later it drastically drops. The battery app sort of confirms that... there always used to be a steady line going down. Now it's always a straight line (battery not discharging), and then a sharp vertical line going down).
I charged my phone to a 100% with a power outlet just now, it seems to be discharging normally again. I am at 93% now, the phone was charged 4 hours ago, screen time is 15 minutes. Is this normal? Seems sort of normal to me.. I can't tell what normal is anymore. I am able to get about 3.5-4 hours of screen time (unless I am playing GTA vice city, then two hours at most).
BetterBatteryStats doesn't show anything too suspicious, there are no partial wakelocks however the phone does stay awake a little bit longer than screen time, but just a tiny bit — it's still in deep sleep mode most of the time.
Is my battery malfunctioning? Should I RMA? I have two days to decide, urgh.

dude, cool down, it's all good... if you get 3-4 hours screen time, it's all ok. sometimes androids start acting weird battery wise. if you see strange things happening with your battery, reboot the phone. if this doesn't help, power it off and charge it up to 100%. unplug it and do not power it on for 60 minutes.
power it on then, it should be ok then. if not, another reboot then always fixed it for me (and all my other android-devices).
best regards,
hallu
My problem is a little different from what I've mostly read. I use my N10 about an hour a day, then let it sit for 23 hours. About half the time when I turn the screen on, I find that it shut itself down at some point. Sometimes there's no notification light, and sometimes the notification light is actually blinking (weird).
I turn it back on, it boots up, life is good. It doesn't freeze while in use. It also doesn't keep time well. Between the time and the shutdowns I can't use it for an alarm, which would be nice.
Anyway, should I try to return it, reset it to factory defaults (I believe I did this a couple months ago), or is this normal?

Sounds like the problem I worked on for two months, commonly called sleep-of-death. I ended up RMAing mine, and the new unit did not have this problem. I suggest you RMA, even though its a bit of a hassle.
do you have to hold the power button longer than usual? typically with sod the unit is on (hence the notification light) but will not wake the screen. have you tried a factory reset? checking for any rogue apps? downloading a new image from Google and flashing it may do the trick as well.
