i installed 4 days ago,
N.O.V.A
Sandstorm
and Spartan.
I have got a bad gaming experience, the multi touch it's not acurate, he jumps when i move it ( the multi touch on the x point ), i got some Freezes continously, and other **** things, this not happen on Galaxy S, iphone, and other android phones.
Any one can confirm this?
THanks.
PD: excuse my bad english
Well i can add when playing heavy gunner with dual touch option and the touch instead of tilt option, the screen sometimes jump in the wrong direction if touched a certain way. Very annoying when you have a swam of 40 bots coming your way and all of sudden your back is towards them.
yes 100%, i got the same problems...
is the screen of the HD2 or the drivers are not 100% perfecctioned?
I'd be interested in the WM Rom you guys have, the Android build, radio, and kernel. That might get you answered.

Yes, I think so. I have the same problem. It seems a little inaccurate.
This is more of a problem on builds based on the Nexus. Try some other android build based on the Desire. Multi touch screen controls work very nicely on them. I'm using Mdeejay Froyo Sense Clean 1.1 and NOVA plays very well.
i am using bungsters CM6 based rom. i have no issues at all.
i even downloaded an app called multi touch test from the market where you place 2 fingers on the screen in the same time and play around to see if the positions of the circles where ur touching will screw up " just like on nexus 1 and desire " and no. no problem at all it was perfect.
but i downloaded NOVA just to test it few mins ago and its perfect.
Sandstorm runs great on my Ndeejay evo warm with hasterin 7.5
Multi touch seems very responsive

I played all of them fine with Bangster rom. Cannot play them with mdeejay 3.1
Just received my Desire HD last night. At first it appeared ok. After a few hours of usage, the ram gradually drops and drops and drops.
At first it's around 390 or 420 free ram. After playing about for a few hours, the ram drops well below 200.
Even after using an app to free ram, it will free some more ram but will quickly use it all again for nothing.
Aside from this it's VERY laggy, much worse than my current HTC HD2.
It lags like crazy through the menu, not smooth at all and sometimes takes a few seconds to open something/go through the menu, it's like it will suddenly freeze completely and will not respond until it finally decides to wake up and continue what it was doing.
Worst of all is the picture gallery!! There are only around 17 pictures, 5 of them I took on the camera and the other pictures are sample pictures that came with the phone.
Now, when opening the gallery, it takes quite a while to display the pictures.
The pictures range from 500kb to around 1mb which is tiny and when opening pics in full size and going through them, it really struggles and lags, sometimes evening freezing for a few seconds before going to the next pic.
This is really bad and is pissing me off. My current HTC HD2 FLIES through pics without a lag.
I have pics ranging from a few kb to 5, 6 and even 7 mb and it's silky smooth and zooming in/out is effortless.
That said, why is my htc desire hd so laggy and performs so poorly?
What can be done to solve my issues?
It could very well be an app causing this but I doubt it as the apps I have installed onto the phone have also been used on my previous HTC Hero and Samsung Galaxy S.
Now, the HTC Desire HD is higher spec than the 2 above android phones but performs poorly.
Could someone PLEASE try to help me fix the lagging issues?
Apps on phone should it help:
KK Boxing Game
Air Hockey Game
Classic Tetris Game
File Manager App
Barcode Scanner
Vizbattery App
Uninstaller App
Rockplayer App
Beautiful Widgets App
Barcode Scanner App
Best Keyboard App
Mixzing Media Player App
Thanks in advance everyone
Go to settings applicactions development and turn on USB debug will fix all your probs, it is to do with the /init process using almost 90% CPU seems to be a system process

Also bluetooth on seems to make the phone lag after a bit as well.
You haven't ever read why you sholdn't use any task killer on an android system?
e. g.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826647
The usb debugging solves it but still takes me ages for pics to load up on screen and I am slightly angry with its performance still.

Someone reported the barcode scanner is eating quite a lot of the system resources. I think it was here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819266 but don't flog me if it's not there! Although the uselessness of the task killer is explained there as well.
Thanks all for your reply. Thanks to many of you the lagging issue has been solved! As many of you mentioned the problem was the usb debugging mode. It was disabled and was causing extreme lag/slowness in everything, it was unbearable. The phone is now super smooth, fast and responsive. Going through pictures now is fantastic and at least 5-10 times quicker than before. Menus are also a lot smoother. Now my htc desire hd is quicker than my htc hd2! Once again many thanks for your help everyone.

Music to my ears
I have newly purchased an HTC HD2 and switched OS from Windows Mobile 6.5 to Android 2.3.4. I switched OS to experience Android and I really like it. I purchased this phone directly from HTC in UK. Now I have this problem that my phone is getting really hot while using it (whenever I browse my phone, talk over phone, play games or do anything, phone gets hot within 3 mins max). Android is running perfectly well on my phone except the lower back part of the phone is getting really hot (i believe the processor is there). I checked the task manager and found CPU usage minimal. Now what should I do? Can anyone help me on this issue?? I really need help!!
Please download battery booster from the market and activate it Please reply with the temperature!

same issue
well some roms do this alot and i know it can get very hot from what i had i remember a new rom and time and it no longer got as hot and i also enjoy to kill unneeded tasks
I am going to buy HTC HD2 or HTC Desire HD.
1)From what I know hd2 was made to work with Windows Mobile but supports Android, I wanted to know if the HD2 will run Android smoothly without problems & bugs? Android Market works?
2)The HD2's touch is smooth while running Android? or it has delays?
3) How the Desire HD is different from the HD2? I know the camera is better in desire hd and also the RAM is a bit higher, but what else
4)HD2 works perfectly with Android 2.3 Gingerbread?
5)The phone memory in the HD2 is lower than the Desire HD, wanted to know if it's making a big difference.
6)Desire HD run games/Apps faster than HD2?
That's all for now, thanks for helper

1)HD2 runs android smoothly imho... android 4.0 may have a few problems but thats like every other device
2)im running sense 3.5 which is gingerbread and the touch screen is very responsive no delay
3)dont know anything about the desire but i know that the roms for desire get ported to hd2 so we get there roms anyway
4)as i said earlier gingerbread sense 3.5 is great (using the ENERGY rom)
5) i dont thik the less memory makes a difference i have installed a fair few apps and still have room to spare
6)app/game speed differs between devices some may be faster on hd2 than desire you never know... i find the apps are quite fast
hope this helps
Thanks MkBy for the fast response, here are some more things I would Like to know
1)What you suggest to buy?
2)Which one is cheaper?
3)I might buy one of them from someone (not new from shop), what should I check to make sure the phone is working well and without problems?

I haven't used the DHD too much so I can't say which is better but 0my HD2 on CM7 appeared to keep up in performance in terms of scrolling, web browsing, opening apps etc. (i.e. not benchmarks) with my friend's DHD on CM7, and I would guess the HD2 is cheaper but the HD2 is absolutely terrible for playing HD games or games involving multitouch. In order for HD games to run smoothly you have to sacrifice either speed or graphics, and the HD2's screen only supports 2 points which is a massive let down for me. As much as I love the HD2, if it were up to me and both were around the same price I would go for the DHD, even if it is a slight bit more expensive

You mean that if I will try touch the screen on HD2 with three fingers it will detect only two of them?

Yes, unfortunately It does that very poorly as well, I can't describe it but sometimes it appears to lock the two points together if they are on the same line if you know what I mean, it's quite difficult to describe.
Let's compare the Touch screen to SE Xperia's touch screen, I know that in Xperia you can work with 2 fingers and even more, HD2 can work with 2 fingers like Xperia does? I mean same quality of touch

1 Finger flawless
2 Fingers decent
3+ Fingers doesn't work
NONE OF THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE INNUENDO
As I said before, I might buy one of them from someone (not new from shop), what should I check to make sure the phone is working well and without problems?
I have an HD2 and am currently running the Energy ROM with sense 3.5 and Gingerbread. The screen is extremely responsive and over all the phone works great. I would recommend getting the HD2. It is one of the best phone out there as far as specs go and it isn't that expensive anymore.
If you want to buy a second-hand HD2, I would like to suggest you to check:
1. 3G data connection (refer to This)
2. Button response
3. Camera flashlight
4. Record video for 5 mins
5. earphone jack and some MP3
6. blue tooth file transfer
7. speaker
8. GPS in some navigation apps
9. Wifi of course
10.Ninja fruit for multi-touch test
Better bring a TF card with files or pics you want to test.
Since my HD2 has data connection freeze issue, I suggest you to buy a whole new handset like ONE X (if you like htc), with warranty. All these unsolved problems on HD2 are driving me crazy.
I'm running hd2 with ics tytung v1.5 with little to no known problems other than music app fc'ing. Their is a touch issue, namely screen lag, but I only notice it when playing games at a fast pace. Hd2's seem to regarded as highly adaptable as well. Not sure about dhd.

Hi dooshbag45, I am thinking of changing my gingerbread rom to ICS. My current rom keeps rebooting when I am using headphone to listen to music. If i use loudspeaker it does not reboot. I have even had to think twice buying a beats audio headphone because of this problem. Does the ICS rom that you're using only fc or rebooting also? Is it only when you're using the default music app or also with third party app? Mine even reboots when i am using winamp.
hd2 pros
Many OS available (android, wp7, Ubuntu, etc)
Great screen (for devices age)
EASILY nodded
Cons
Touchscreen issues - using more than one finger recognition, failing digitizer (design flaw)
Data drop (happens to some, a simple disconnect/reconnect solves)
1 rear 5mp cam
Specs are showing their age but still hang with the best of em!!!
I've had a hands on with a friends DHD so the below is based on a QUICK hands on
DHD pros
Native android
Slight advantage on HD2 (hardware specs)
Cons
Smaller screen
You want android ... You're stuck with it!

Incorrect. The Desire HD has a screen of 4.3", which is as large as the HD2.
Hi
I've used both. And both are great devices too. The only drawback for both of em are lack of front cam. But IMHO go for a newer model. Like sensation and EVO 3d. You may get it cheaper also.
But the final decision be yours.

So earlier this day i went to a shop and found the HTC 8X there, i couldnt resist playing with it, so i tested everything possible on it, but found not major, but rather irritating performance hickups. They especialy happened when I started doing some fast scrolling in the home screen and found that the faster i was scrolling the bigger the lag was, especialy when moving to the app drawer, and the bouncy efect when overscrolling. Also when i scrolled really slow in the messages for example, the text didnt go up and down fluid but rather stutered a little, is this only happening on HTC 8X or all WP8 devices? Thank you for answering.
Definitely NOT happening on my Lumia 920. This thing is a freakin rocket!

My Lumia 920 is really smooth. The only time it hiccups is on the lockscreen if I have an app running in the background (MetroRadio tends to do this). I think it's because MetroRadio is a WP7 app and hasn't been updated for WP8 yet.
My htc .8x has no lag issues!

I think you just had a bad model. My HTC 8x (black) is smooth as butter. Only thing I noticed with Beats Audio is that it "lagged" a bit the first time on playback after I chucked the device full of new apps and music, but that was only for a day. I think it was busy caching or something - but no lag or hiccups anywere now.
Hey,
I think I noticed a same lag issue, maybe the thread starter also had a WP before because I think WP 7.x did some scrolling smoother ... For me it only happens when I scroll with my finger put down. There seems to be way too much going on cpu wise when I scroll up and down. As soon as I lift my finger the Lumia 920 turns into a rocket again.
I tried to do a comparison video with my own 920 and my old 800 (which I gave to my girlfriend ^^). The video cannot quite show what the issue is but it is hard to describe it anyways. I still think the thread starter is right and this issue maybe should be reported to MSFT.

bye, Smirny
ok I finally figured out how to reproduce the issue clearly. It seems that scrolling within legacy WP7 apps is not affected by this. So you can try this out for yourself.
1. Go to your homescreen and scroll around a bit while leaving your finger ON the screen.
2. Go to any legacy app and do the same scrolling behaviour. There is a difference between the smoothness of the two!
I recommend for example "Photocasa Galery" because it tries to immitate the homescreen tiles, so you can compare the two even better. (http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/photocasa-gallery/4f2eedf9-09c2-4baa-8ec5-160f0ca5f542)
bye, Smirny
BIG EDIT:
I think I finally found a solution:
Go to your ease of access settings and check whether the magnifier is enabled. I enabled it just for fun, but since I disabled it again this phone is very very smooth again! Hope it also works for you =)
