What Update.zip are you exactly talking about? As far as I know that is none existent.

I think there may be one on /sdcard or /data, I remember seeing it when looking around on the device.
If there isn't I'm hoping that the zip doesn't need to be signed.

yeah upload what you have got then we can debug it ourselves, will make it easier than trying to tell you what to do.
Try clearning cache and data in recovery before installing
im uploading now yes i edited the boot.img using the sdk version and used several bits from the desire honeycomb port not sure if its right at all and haven't changed the modules yet. If im completely heading in the wrong direction please inform me and i will give up
Here is my original attempt i've made several edits since but none have worked so here http://www.mediafire.com/file/vcn45ihdfgcjmhg/honeycomb.zip
right, what you have uploaded looks to me like its purely a Desire rom, you have not changed anything at all... no wonder its not booting!

i think you need to edit the boot.img that you extract then take the system.img from the sdk and put them into an update.zip
good luck

[Q] Using Nand kernels on SD build

How do you use a Nand kernel on an SD build?
Specifically, I want to use Marc's v 1.5 Sense kernel on Boxmax v6.5 Sense 3.5 build. Boxmax did provide the v 1.4 kernel packaged for his build, but has since said he will stop developing due to other priorities.
So basically, I'm currently using the 1.4 kernel, and I would like to upgrade to the 1.5 kernel. How would I go about doing that? Is it as simple as replacing the zimage? or is there some other things I have to do?
Anyone have any idea how to do this?

Well, that's what I'm asking how to do.
I have an SD build. I can't use CWM to flash the kernel. So I'm asking for the proper way to do it.
There's a zimage file. There's also a META-INF folder and a system folder.
Do I just replace the zimage file on the Android folder on my SD card? Or is there more I have to do?
It would help if you actually read my first post...

It would really help if you use search but nevermind.
Find guides how to cook rom. In there there is part choosing your kernel.
Be aware that u may get into problems by replacing/updating kernel

Thanks for the response.
I was just mainly going through the threads hoping someone would post an answer or something similar. I tried google search, focusing it specifically on the XDA website, but after going through ~3-4 pages and not finding anything remotely close, I gave up.
Anyways, thanks for pointing me in a direction (hopefully the right one).

Thanks for trying Cjovecje!, but... everything you have posted was about Nand roms, and didn't talk about SD roms at all. SD rom information is much harder to find I don't know if you tried using a SD build vs a Nand build, but the two are very different in how they are set up and run.

ICS Gen2 update.zip file?

I hate to ask, but I've honestly been looking for about an hour now, and I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have the A500_Gen2 update.zip file for ICS? If someone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

[KFSOWI] Does anyone need a zipped copy of any partition?

If anyone needs a zipped copy of any partition of the KFSOWI? If so, please just ask, and I'll get right to it. (If this is in the wrong section I apologize and please move it to the correct area if so)

The firmware is available on Amazon's website. So, unless you have the original 3.0.x (have not updated ever) it's not much use right now. Thanks for the thought though. Never hurts to ask.
Oh alright! Sorry. Just tryin' to help.

Have you done a backup for TWRP and did you notice?

So I decided to run a quick backup of the phone system files with TWRP and I noticed that it has a system_image.emmc.win file that are 6GB in size. My question is this. Is this a complete image of the phone's base setup so when things go south we can use this file to go back to? Or is it something else??

I think I found some backups that was posted by jcadduono, https://idlekernel.com/flash-tools/firmware/ailsa_ii_A2017U/B20/
I see a lot of backups which one should I use to reinstall the OS? DO i need to install them all or just system.img only?
To the best of my knownledge, you don't want or need that system.img in your backups. I know on my nexus 6p you don't use it. big waste of space. Perhaps something a dev needs???

I would think that big image file would be the image used for a factory reset with all the program, system file and such so they can just reset it quick and easy. And if that is the case, wouldn't that be what is needed by the devs?

People should not mess around with things they don't know how to fix... why did you even attempt to do any mods and not have a clue how to do a restore?

That's not how it went down. He inadvertently wiped system. And he did know how to fix it, he just didn't have the resource that he needed at hand and was asking for it. What, you've never made a misstep while working on something?
Always thank those who are helpful...and just ignore those who aren't.

You don't happen to still have this file around? Was it captured after a bootloader unlock or using tenfar's method?

I do have the file. However my dropbox cancelled my public shares due to excessive traffic.

I'm pretty surprised that such an important file isn't already widely available. I expected easy unlocking/rooting and custom ROMs at this point. Has this phone not been available for a while now in the US? What's holding everything back?
Anyway, if you could somehow make that file available again I'm sure I wouldn't be the only grateful one.

Any other place you can upload it to? It might be the only way for the bootloader unlocked group to get future updates (if it was captured without b20_boot).
