When I connect my Trophy 7 to my Windows 7 PC it shows it as a unspecified device in devices and printers. Is this correct or does it need a driver etc?

You could try Windows update maybe it will find a driver. Or Doesn't WP7 need the zune software to be able to sync ? That might be were the driver is.
I know when I got Win7 installed, My touch pro 2 did the same thing till I installed Microsoft's mobile sync app...

Ive tried searching now for about 2 hours for a fix.
Ive just installed windows 7 x64 pro and i can not get it to work with my HD. It will not recognize it at all. Ive had various problems, always seems different.
Ive tried turning off the enable fast data. This changed the problem, but didnt fix it.
At the moment, i have that enabled and the problem from what i can tell is, in device manager Microsoft Windows Remote Adapter is not working.
If i disable fast data, i get a connecting to host message on my HD screen and nothing else really happens.
Ive tried updating the USB drivers, but that will not work, something to do with unsigned drivers.
Under mobile devices in device manager i get PocketPC USB Sync instead of the HTC usb Sync thing.
Is there a solution for this please?
With me it worked on windows 7x64 straight out of the box. I suggest re-installing win 7.
I'd have to agree, using Windows x64 Professional here and both my Touch HD and my partners work fine (I had to allow Windows to download an updated version of Windows Mobile Device Center first though).
I do not suggest reinstalling Win 7. Geez. Sorry, but that's using an axe to trim a toenail.
Try downloading and reinstall the x64 version of Windows Mobile Device Center. Make sure you get version 6.1. Do not download any driver updates meant for Vista - you don't need them. But this main file will be marked Vista - it includes you too.
Next, it's possible that when you first plugged in the blackstone, a driver install got canceled or didn't happen right. Use your hardware manager and look for any new generic devices or HID devices. You can try deleting the hardware from the list and asking device manager to look again.
MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER.
Good luck.
Installed windows 7 last week.... i mainly use this pc at home and at work i use XP.
Anyway just connected it now to my notebook and after some driver downloads from windows the phone works fine...
make sure u download the latest mobile device center.
I had the same with my Topaz and windows 7. The fix was to disable the windows firewall while syncing.
This solved my sync problems with Windows 7 ultimate x64
Open notepad
write the text : net localgroup Administrators LocalService /add
save the file as e.g. HTC.bat somewhere on your hard drive where you can find it
Locate with Windows Explorer the .Bat file you just edited
Rightclick on the bat fil
select "run as administrator"
restart your computer. Your HTCH Touch HD should connect without problems
How do you get this damn phone to connect to my Windows 7 laptop, windows does not find drivers for my device ?????
WM 6.5 and Windows 7 no talky to each other.
wont connect under Windows Mobile Connect, can only get the SD Card to come up in Windows 7 Explorer.
When I change the USB to PC settings on the SNAP to Active Sync then Windows 7 cant find the drivers ??
Windows Mobile Connect just says no device connected, under device damager it comes up as unknown device....
Please help a noob out
have you had the mobile device center installled in your PC?
check your AV software... on my laptop the firwall of the Mcafee block it. only when I turn it of, I can get it to sync
hi guys, thanks. Yes I do have Mobile Device Center installed and I will try checking my firewall settings.
Just want to copy the pics from the camera album to my laptop. Would suck if I have to move these pics in the phone from the phones memory to the SD card and then link to my laptop to copy them.
well I don't have W7 so I can't say. but you can launch the camera app, go to the options and change where the pics are saved.
Have you got the 'Enable faster data sync' ticked or unticked in the settings>USB to PC?
That should not be a incompatibility issue : mine works well with 7.
It just does not pop up the way ActivSync does. You have to click the WMDC icon in the process bar on your PC.
Hi guys
Sorry i did not reply sooner, got this working now.
Under device damager, it comes up as unknown Device.
Updated these drivers and all is working now.

what drivers did you use? i have this same phone but cannot for the life of me get this to sync! can you post a link where you got the drivers from?
also, are you using 32bit or 64bit Windows 7?
try going to the htc website, support page and see if you can download new drivers for windows 7. If they dont have them try using the windows vista drivers if they are there.
Where to find driver?
I am having the same problem.
Windows 7 device manager can not find drivers for the HTC S521, and I can not find any on the HTC website.
I would appreciate if somebody could share a link.
Thanks
Start, Settings, Connections, More, USB to PC, take off the check mark (square has to blank), OK

Connect HTC to PC, Start ActiveSynch, on your HTC go to Start, Settings, Connections, More..., USB to PC, take off the check mark (square remains blank), OK

I tryd it already on multiple pc's does someone have a sollution for this problem?
Had a similar issue - no error but device not detected. What I did was open device manager and update the driver for the unknown device - did the trick.

try that, and did you install zune?
and what about windows sdk so it can install drivers as well.
You can also download the "WMDC X64 driver update" and install it, I have had to do that when had USB issues.
When you say you've tried it on multiple PC's. Are the other computer also Windows 64-bit or are they 32-bit. If they are 64-bit then there is obviousley an incompatibility. That's why I stay with 32-bit even though it only supports 3.5GB of my 6GB ram ;/

Looks like your list of drivers for the phone
- Drivers (necessary/required) dont know what you meant, but I count that there is something
- HTC drivers
- Windows drivers
- Android drivers
First, uninstall all drivers for the phone, of course reboot is needed after that and then install these two: Windows Mobile Device Center and android drivers
Windows Update
After run HARET_PHOTON7227 and have fastboot screen, plug phone on usb and configure windows 7 to find drivers on Windows Update and install.
Hi, I can't sync my Omnia 7 with my new Windows 8 laptop.
I downloaded Windows Phone app (Zune replacement), its promting me to connect my phone to see whats on it, but it can't see it. I tried installing Samsung mobile usb driver (i8700_samsung_mobile_usb_driver_v5.2__v1.2.1050.0) but it isnt working.
On my phone I got this custom ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571068
OS version: 7.10.8588.169
In Windows 8 Device Manager is my phone detected as Windows Phone USB Device, so its connected at least at some way.
Thank you for you help.
isn't the Windows 8 Device Manager only for wp8?
anyway i suggest you to try zune (you can install it on w8 NON RT, instead if you are running w8rt... i don't know)
Windows Phone app is only for WP8 and Zune IS working on Windows 8? I lived in a lie. Thank you it should solve it I think.
