As I can't post in the dev forum I though I'd ask in here; maybe we can use this as Q/A thread and keep the dev thread clean
I've been wanting to mess about a bit with those roms, and I've installed aZuZu's kitchen and loaded up the system.img from the 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.10. As I can't live w/o headphones I will look into that as a test. I know I might be totally off track here, but I want to try
I want to include the SystemConnector.apk as that seems to be responsible for 3.5mm jack. When I introduce it into the 2.2.1 system I get error: "has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.system; ignoring!" Does this mean I have to re-sign it? and with what key?
I've tried signing the app on the phone using zipsigner, and I've used all types of keys. I still end up with the same error..
Now on the latest 2.2.1 that racht have done and my errors are:
Code:
D/PackageManager( 1743): Scanning package com.sonyericsson.systemconnector
D/PackageManager( 1743): Shared UserID android.uid.system (uid=1000): packages=[PackageSetting{462e19c8 com.android.settings/1000}, PackageSetting{462e31b8 com.google.android.backup/1000}, PackageSetting{462dfd80 com.google.android.location/1000}, PackageSetting{462e2fb8 com.android.server.vpn/1000}, PackageSetting{462e27b8 com.android.providers.settings/1000}, PackageSetting{462e0610 com.cyanogenmod.cmparts/1000}, PackageSetting{462e2358 com.android.providers.subscribedfeeds/1000}, PackageSetting{462e1808 android/1000}]
E/PackageManager( 1743): Package com.sonyericsson.systemconnector has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.system; ignoring!
W/PackageManager( 1743): Package couldn't be installed in /data/app/com.sonyericsson.systemconnector-1.apk
AFAIK it's using the system uid to gain some specific rights, so I'm not sure if I should change that. I'll try to copy it to /system/app and set rights and chown it to 1k:1k and see what happens
2.2.1 CyanogenMod Floyo v0.11
Hi! Maybe that the mistake is at me, but for me this it mondta( 2.2.1 CyanogenMod Floyo v0.11), that the memory the safe removal of a card, restarted then :S. All this kb 15perc after a usage. One 16GB-Class digs 4 microSD-t I am useful, FAT32 and EXT2 partitions.
I had the same, but 0.12 is stable for me.
What I did:
- I use MyBackup Root to keep a backup of my mms/sms/call log and a few select apps. I also keep a copy of that on my sdcard. I use the stock sdcard...
I started up xRecovery
- Cleared the cache partition
- Mounted my sdcard so I could format my 348mb Ext3 partition from windows using Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition.
- Installed 0.12 from restore function.
Rebooted and rewarded myself with a coffee
Installes/changes:
- Installed ADW.launcher (opensource version)
- Removed other launcher
- Installed the earphones changer (see main thread for info - SUPARFANTASTIC!)
- Installed Super Manager (it's got it's own version of BusyBox so it won't fail like Root Explorer)
- Removed unwanted apps that racht left behind
Going for a few hrs now and been stable. Don't know about battery usage yet but I can live with that. It's stable and I think racht will continue on his epic quest and I'll follow him as good as I can
hi..
anyone has try 2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12?
when i use this rom, 3G/GPRS is not functioning...
in the detail that rom can use 3G/GPRS but why i can't?
anyone can tell me why?
sorry my english is bad...
Seems to me like you'll have to install a bunch of updates to get a working one. So far I think it's luck when I get something working and when it's not. Currently trying out the X10 one that's ported to X8, but market is failing. Maybe it can work if I apply it on top of something else.. Reverting to racht's 2.2.1
If you've not done so install the SDK and then you can do "adb logcat" to see log output on your pc if it's connected to phone. You might want to redirect output to a file with command like:
adb logcat >output.txt
And then you can browse through it later
My tip: install 0.11 and then upgrade to 0.12 like 1st post sais.
I returned to 0.12 and copied the SystemConnector.apk from the mini and put it on my sdcard and installed it Works like a charm.
My 0.12 status
not working:
- Video encode
- Crypto - so app2sd-aware apps won't install - like angrybirds.
By umounting sdcard angrybirds and other apps will install
- FM radio
-Mount sdcard to PC - no issue for me for now
working:
- all that post sais should be working
- headphones (the stock ones) by installing the app from the mini release.
What I did:
Cleaned out everything but my fat partition on the sdcard.
Format /data
Format /system
Format /cache
Format ext3 partition
Install 0.12 from backup
Install SystemConnector
Install ADW.Launcher (opensource version)
Install AppManager (as UninstallForRoot won't install for me - crypto related)
Remove unwanted system apps
Press Power only to giggle at the awesome "oldskool tv-off animation" and then turn screen back on.
Show off phone to GF who sais she'll keep her stock install while I reboot all day

Hi,
I have installed 2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12. It's work great but I but two minor issues :
I can't upgrade launcher pro
I can't start root explorer and that crash my SD card
Does anyone have a solution ?
2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12 doesn't boot
I have a rooted android 1.6 phone (Xperia X8). I made a backup from my android 1.6 and installed "2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12" with xrecovery, but when I reboot, he shows only the text "HACKDROID" and does nothing else. To shutdown the phone I am forced to take off the battery, because anything else doesn't work. I restored my android 1.6 backup and everything works like before.
How can I use "2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12" with my phone ? Should I first upgrade to android 2.1 ?

I have the same problem with the other versions cm7_v0.6, cm6_v0.11, floyo_v0.10. I did a full wipe, wipe cache partition, wipe davilk cache before each restore, but it changes nothing.

When you apply your lagfix, choose option one when prompted "backup AND restore"
Install Instructions:
as always, its best to flash to stock JF6 with the odin one click downloader.
copy this rom to your internal sd card, and after flashing stock. flash this through Clockwork Recovery. thats it. no need to do anything with the jg8 modem or anything like that.
on first flash, all=ext4 is enabled by default-if you want to use something else, select go back to recovery then go to the lagfix options and enable whatever you want. when your prompted with the options about backing up, i suggest choosing option 1. this will do a backup and restore so you will not lose any apps(the other options you will lose the apps in /data)

booting up was about 2 minutes on android logo
reboot to recovery then fix it to no rfs advanced ... ( all jfs )

some people have said if that app is removed it can cause problems. if you dont like it, remove it from /system/app.
first boot will take a while as it zipaligns and deodexes.
and btw this rom has nothing in common with my other di11is darkyy rom except my theme. this is my own base.
Ive been running your darky rom 2.0.1 for a day with the jk3 modem. Downloading now to check out the CM mms. I hope its the one with the notification vibration types like multiple long.

thx bro. was planning on reflashing myself to verify.
My home button didnt work either, not sure about lock screen. Flashing back to stock now.
My home button worked fine. hmmm, also I can confirm the video player.apk in the first post for us couple who downloaded early is letting me play video. But just as stated, can only open it from file manager to view.
great rom so far, its fast. Yes, I did run benchmarks, not that they really matter anymore. can notice the difference in speed when deleting widgets, open anything. It screams, props di11igaf, awesomely quick rom.

just downloaded my own file, reflashed to stock put the downloaded file on my sd and flashed again with no probs. first thing i did though was apply lagfix and when the backup and restore options pop up make sure you choose the first option to backup and restore all data.
let me know if you do reflash this if you have the same problem.

preciate it, will try later. problem probably because i apply lagfix "without backup and restore."
ahh ya i bet thats why. not sure why it really would matter(since the problem your describing would be an android.policy.jar problem) but im gonna try it that way and see if it makes a difference. thats the only thing different that we did though.
also i think if you apply the lagfix that way, any apps in the rom that are in /data/app by default will not be restored-at least this has happened to me in the past and why now i always do a backup and restore.
I did a yes without backup and restore, and the home button ain't workin.
Hi,
My brother's desperate to get a bluetooth keyboard working with his HTC Hero (UK). Currently runs the stock HTC 2.1-update1.
It's easy enough to pair them (we've tried two) but they remain paired but unconnected. With my Galaxy S (stock 2.2.1) they work fine. I gather this is because the Hero doesn't support the SPP or HID profiles.
We've also tried most of the apps we can think of: Keypro (sits on 'connecting'), Blueinput (force-closes when you click to select they keyboard), the JP one (sits on 'connecting'). Looking at the forum for keypro it looks like they're aware of this issue and haven't yet been able to correct it.
I've heard rumours that people running custom ROMs (eg based on Cyanogenmod) have been able to get keyboards working.
So - has anyone managed to get a bluetooth keyboard working with one of these devices, and if so how? Would prefer a solution that keeps Sense installed but he says he'll let me go to vanilla android.
Thanks in advance.
For the benefit of future users (and because the forum seems to be littered with questions like this!) we managed to get it working by installing FroydVillain 1.7.2.
Main problem was the lack of a flash_image binary to install the nandroid recovery image, but we copied over one we downloaded and it worked without issue.
Keyboard was recognised immediately and works fine as an HID device.
That's interesting! But could you detail, what were the steps of this successful installing? I also have an old bt keyboard, which I'm unable to use with the hero... Thank's if you can explain any more...
Mostly we used the instructions from http:##www|villainrom.co.uk/vBwiki/index.php/Installing_Custom_ROMs , though with a change for flashing the rom as the binary wasn't available on his phone.
More specifically - use the Froydvillain download mirrors at http:##www|villainrom.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?3698 and the wiki page above, and download:
Froydvillain 1.7.0
Froydvillain 1.7.1 upgrade
Froydvillain 1.7.2 upgrade
Universal Androot
AmonRA Recovery image
Stick everything onto the SD card - either using a USB cable and your phone, or we just used a USB card reader.
Install Universal Androot. We used HTC sync and just double-clicked on the .apk but you could also use a file manager (the wiki recommends Astro).
Install Android Terminal Emulator from the market.
Root the phone using Androot (he was running the latest 2.1 so we used the 2.0-2.2 root button).
The next bit is where we differed from the wiki instructions. They tell you to type:
Code:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/[I]<name of recovery image file>[/I]
reboot recovery
We found that there was no flash_image binary on my brother's phone (the error read 'flash_image: not found' so downloaded one - there's a copy at http:##cyanogen-files.carneeki.net/flash_image.zip ; I can't remember exactly where we got the one we used.
The instructions we found with the binary suggested something complicated involving remounting the system partition (it's normally read-only so you can't copy the binary there). Equally, you can't run it directly from the sd card without remounting as it's set not to allow executables. We just ran it from the data partition:
Copy the flash_image file to the sd card and use:
Code:
su
cp /sdcard/flash_image /data/flash_image
chmod 700 /data/flash_image
/data/flash_image recovery /sdcard/[i]<name of recovery image file>[/i]
sync
Then just power off the phone and turn it back on with the 'Home' button pressed. You should find yourself in recovery mode using your new recovery image.
We then used Backup/Restore > Nand backup to backup the current ROM to the SD card. Then from the Wipe menu we ran through each option in turn to ensure a fully fresh setup (I gather this isn't essential, but is advised). Lastly we used Flash zip and sequentially flashed 1.7.0, 1.7.1, then 1.7.2.
Then we rebooted, and waited... and waited... and waited... The VillainROM logo with the scary red-eyed android pulsated for about 30 minutes before I gave up and removed the battery. I took out the SD card and turned the phone back on; this time it was only a few minutes before we found ourselves with a fully functional (and factory-fresh) phone.
We put the sd card back in and set up the phone as normal; then turned on bluetooth and paired the phone with the keyboard (with ours it was a matter of typing a PIN on the keyboard and pressing enter, and duplicating the number on the phone) - it was instantly recognised as an HID device and worked perfectly!
Hope that's of some use - as I mentioned before it's essentially the same as the standard instructions except for the step involving the missing flash_image binary.
[edit: sorry, I'm not allowed to post links it seems! You'll have to cut and paste, and replace the '##' with '//', and the '|' with '.']
Thank you, you were very kind! But it seems basically only a normal fv installation on a rooted phone... Only I become a bit confused with all the /data/system operations... I can try installing fv 1.72, but at the moment I don't want to give back my floyo 1.20, which is more responsive (in my phone), but gives no sinal of accepting to connect the paired bt...
Yes - it was just a new ROM install which did the job - only the lack of flash_image and the lengthy bootup before we removed the sd card confused us so hopefully it's useful to someone trying the same.
I've not heard of Floyo - but the reason I decided to try FroydVillain was that it was CyanogenMod-based rather than HTC sense based as I heard that HTC don't include bluetooth HID support in their ROMs.
The CyanogenMod changelog http:##wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Changelog suggests that HID support has been included since 6.0.0 so I'd expect anything based on CyanogenMod since that should be fine. I chose FroydVillain simply because my brother's not very techy and I wanted a fairly mainstream ROM for him...
Not so simple...! Out of curiosity, I went to install froyd villain, but as I imagined the result was the same! "Paired but not connected"... It seems that when you rooted the hero, something remained in /system, no idea what was it! If a developer could read this, perhaps he could understand what happened... Floyo is simply another rom based on cm... the difference is all in the rooting process, seemingly...
Not for me
Hi Guys,
as I have been running Froyd Villain 1.7.2 for a rather long time now I thought I might give it a try. As there is an Apple Bluetooth keyboard dusting around here I had quite high hopes.
The pairing process worked well and it shows an Icon with the BT Symbol encased in Black and two arrows. In the BT settings it tells me that I am connected to a BT device, never the less, no matter what input field I choose, I cannot type on the BT keyboard. There is no other Input method I could choose from either so it's still not working for me.
Damn.
What keyboard where you using?
DOWNLOAD LINK (remove temporarily until I can re-upload the nandroid with boot included)
Unzip the downloaded files to your microSD card then use OpenRecovery 1.46 to restore the nandroid backup. This *should* work for XT720 handsets currently on 2.1 that want to update to 2.2 without updating the radio.
THIS IS UNTESTED! It works on my phone, but restoring nandroids on other handsets has not been tested yet on the XT720 (to my knowledge)
USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! If you brick your phone or hear banjos I won't be held responsible!

Can you provide any kind of link to a pack of those guys? Aside from that, kudos, good job and all that jazz.
Question though: what are your 3G wavelenghts? I just want to know if flashing this will crap out my XT720's ability to connect to 3G. (or am i misinterpreting stuff?)
So do the problems that plagued the leaked firmware still exist in this fix? (Sensors not working, LEDs not lighting up)
thanks navalynt...

I signed up immediately after watching this discussion. I'm waiting to arrive the XT720 of my girlfriend, because I bought it on eb**. Now I would like to ask you some questions refered your rom:
1. Is it a really Froyo rom or only an Eclair modification?
If it's a really Froyo Rom:
2. If it is a really Froyo rom have you found crashes, slowdowns and other problems?
3. Have you tried flash player?
4. If I install this Froyo rom, App2sd is pre-installed or I install it separatelly (from the market)?
5. Finally I would like to know if there is the italian language support, especially in the qwerty.
Thank you! Excuse me for many questions that i did to you
P.S.: As soon as I get the XT720 will test your rom!!!

I think I know the problem, when I did the nandroid I forgot to check the box for boot so it didn't backup the kernel I'll redo it again in a few hours.
Thanks for trying it out! I appreciate everyones feedback thus far!
changes from leak
can you please post the changes in rom you made beside the leaked one
- not that apps you deleted
i mean the changes to get (if working) sensors, 3g , ...
thanks joe
I'm getting exited over this thread Navalynt. Keep the good work you've got all my prayers.
Yes, what I'd like the best is an overall phone functionality report.
I would volunteer myself to do that, but my phone hasn't arrived yet..
I wonder if Motorola improved the video recording capabilities of the device. It's weird how the i8910 now has a very decent 720p recording (constant 24fps @ default, 30fps w/ overclock) using the exact same processing hardware (thanks to some modders, not samsung).
I'll give this a go later today, if you manage to upload a new build.
Edit:
I would like a functionality report from navalynt so that I and other testers can have a baseline (best case scenario) to compare to.
Do the following work?
- 1700Mhz and 2100MHz 3G (which you claim are working)
- Proximity Sensor (try by calling and see if screen locks) / Acceleromter (try by seeing if screen auto-rotates)
- Flash in stock browser
- Native Apps to SD and Wifi Tether
i cant wait for him to reupload this, i am dieing to try it out.
Ditto

Can you try adding qemu.sf.lcd_density=240 to the build.prop file? I did that on mine and I no longer need to deal with SetRes anymore.
Good luck.. hope this works out.. looking forward to flash! Hopefully 3g and autorotate works..

its the same rom as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957123
but with /data and /cache converted to ext2 filesystem (lagfix).
/system was already /ext2 converted by Kyriilos
also note that this will wipe your /data partition, and do not wipe /data and /cache in recovery
Could you pls make it with the coming 2.2 Version, too

its a misprint! My name is Kyrillos and not Kyriilos
Its done
Because Kyrillos post a version without lagfix, so we can implant apollos "app2sd fix"
[ROM] Kyrillos' ROM v2.2 Gingerbread Edition without lagfix
Lagfix + data2sd (Quadrant score 570 + Lot of space for apps)
EDIT: ITS REAL DONE!
Link
I have got a problem with Kyrillos's ROM 2.2 With Special Lagfix.
After flash every thing is great until I restore apps and reboot phone
system services crush (force close) all the time.
I flash it 4 times (directly form Kyrillos ROM 2.2 Normal and from original JPF),
every time i obtain the same result ;(
On Kyrillos ROM 2.2 Normal it's work like a dream.
Anyone have any idea why?
(i post here cuz i can't post in development yet)
How do you restore apps ?
No idea ... but lagfix is very experimental and the way it was done is not the best. Use lagfix to test : your phone may crash.
/system, /data and /cache are converted to ext2 fs : we didnt include any filecheck if the phone was shut down ... ext2 has no journal system and could make android instable in my opinion if the phone is shutdown (like if you remove battery).
Someone may correct me if I am wrong.

I restore apps by My Backup Root and it's always work.
Now I flash normal Kyrillos ROM 2.2 then install Motafoca lagfix and everything works well.
It's supposedly give the same effect but phone works without crushes.
Maybe it's a bug in that ROM or maybe my backuped stuff screw something up.
I really dunno
I installed Kyrillos' Rom 2.2 (Normal Version) yesterday. Really nice...everything is working fine so far. Does anyone know how to take screenshots with this rom? [Back + Home] doesn't work

Try QtABD. It runs on PC and can take screenshots as well.
Edit: Sorry, you think probably of a standalone solution where you don't need a PC.

Yes, that's what I'm searching for. I thought taking screenshots by pressing Back+Home is a Froyo feature. But in this Rom it doesn't work. So if maybee I'll search the Market for a screencapture-app
Hi!
Can't write in dev part so to try here ... after all I am n00b
Installed 2.2 normal and then did lag+app2sd and everything is working nicely ...
I have a question though ... what if I decide to ay usd2.99 for LauncherPro Plus. Can I install it over the LauncherPro that is integrated into this ROM. I tried uninstall and install over but w/o success. It's system app (so it says) and I can't do aything about it. On previous e.g. normal JPF I was able touninstall reinstall LPPro. What did I miss?
Tnx.
LauncherPro Plus is essentially a key unlocking new features in free version, no need to install anything, especially reinstalling launcher.
To remove system app you have to root your phone (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778880) and get acces to system files (Root Explorer, qtadb, adb). Of course if you are removing one launcher, you have to have another already installed.
Nice hearing that apollo's lagfix is running well on kyrillo's 2.2, it's running nice on lestat's 1.1 as well.
Anyway to have all (Cahce\System\Data\ converted to ext2 and also partition the sdcard (apollo5801's lagfix). So in short, how can I have special lagfix + sdcard partitioned?
hi guys,
i think it would be wise to use the experience already earned from galaxy s i9000
from guys like supercurio, darky and hardcore, their work is VERY STABLE as it is heavily tested and proved to do miracles.
no one is using ext2 anymore,
i quote:
"Note: Only lagfixes using EXT4 are robust. Other lagfixes run the risk of data loss on freezing, hard-reboots, or sudden power loss."
they have opted for ext4 , to be more specific:
hardcore (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822756)
would recommend
DATA_FS=ext4
CACHE_FS=ext4nj
DBDATA_FS=ext4
and he has applied many other tweaks
i dont see why his experience cant be used for the galaxy 3
in addition the link below could be useful
[REF] Details about /system RFS corruption and HOWTO correct it (fix included)

Hello,
After rooting my Tattoo, I installed ROM manager and flashed the clockworkMod Recovery 3.0.0.6 (for tattoo/click).
When I install the rom cyanogenmod 7 RC1 or RC2 (I try CM7 nightlybuild 19 as well) via clockworkmod, he said that the rom is successfully installed but when I launch the ROM, the ROM stucked on the tattoo boot screen (not on the CM7 boot screen, I never saw the CM7 boot screen).
Any idea to resolve my problem?
Thanks
Stuck for how long? About 2 minutes it is ok and then the CM boot logo come up.
First boot takes a long time.
Did you wipe your device before flashing CM ROM? If not do so in recovery menu. (wipe all, factory setting, clear cache etc...)
Same here. At first when i got boot screen, i thought i blew it, but it took few minutes to urn up...
it happened twice to me. Wipe cache at first ... if it doesn't boot, wipe all.
Good luck!
I wipe all before every flash.
I flash the rom "update-cm-7.0.0-RC2-click-signed.zip" and after the gapps "gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip".
On my screen, I saw only "TATTOO". , I waited during 10 minutes...

try other rom file. and don't install gap yet. I had been there too.
I tried the rom "FroYo AOSP(2.2.2_r1) for Tattoo v0.3 released" and it works!
How can I install cyanogenmod 7? which rom can I use from cyanogenmod 7?
I tried repeating installation 6 times then it worked. I think install isn't clean. try again.
with which rom?
Try latest cyanogen rom rc - and here you will find all the info.
It's really great, try it.

I have the same problem. Today I've tried the RC3 without being able to boot it, stuck at Tattoo logo. Doing a logcat I see many "DEBUG" row. The previous nightly build 31 boot correctly but after a while hang and sometime the system reboot itself. The nFinityGB 0.92 and previous, despite being CyanogenMod based, runs correctly. I've not been able to figure why I have so many problem with a rom that for most people is rock solid.
Please let me know if nFinityGB rom works correctly.
Have had success booting RC2.2 & RC3
I have had no problems flashing or booting Cyanogen 7 RC2.2 and RC3, using Rom Manager from Android market.
The problem seems to be solved in RC3, but the default cpu speed is too high to boot without getting some instability. At the third try I've been able to get into cpu settings to lower the maximum speed to 615 MHz. Now it works without stabilty issues.
Hey guys someone please help me out...even im stuck with the same problem....
Boot LOOPs continuously... i dont find any solution to this... phone isnt working atol and if i want to get back to the stock rom it says "USB CCONNECTION ERROR" so im really in a bad situation here....
guess have to travel to college without music (
I try the CM7 RC4 and the rom is bootlooping when I launch it! :-s
I went back on the CM6 :-(

If you feel dare, you can use this little init script that i've created for personal use. It sets a maximum cpu frequency of 528MHz in the early boot phase, allowing the phone to be stable. Once the phone booted, you can change the cpu speed using the CM Settings menu.
To place it in the correct directory, you must use adb.
- Just download it somewhere in your computer
- rename it removing the .txt extension (the resulting name will be 02slowdown)
- normally flash the CyanogenMod rom and do not reboot
- connect the usb cable between the phone and the computer
- mount the /system partition using the Clockwork storage and mounts menu
- copy the script in the /system partition with the command
Code:
adb push 02slowdown /system/etc/init.d/
- change the script owner with
Code:
adb shell chown root:shell /system/etc/init.d/02slowdown
- change the permissions with
Code:
adb shell chmod 750 /system/etc/init.d/02slowdown
- reboot and cross your finger
Now the phone should boot regularly without getting nasty FC
Hope this will help someone.
There is another way to apply this workaround: you can open the zipped rom with 7zip or something like that and put the "02slowdown" script in the /system/etc/init.d subdirectory of the archive. I used this method to flash the cm7 stable version.
my first reboot took a bit longer too. I just waited and voilá. Droid skater and CM7 installed.

If I don't, every times I launch cm7, I have to do the manipulation (with adb) explain above?
