After achieving temp root via visionary, it seems to continue running, and severely taxing the battery. Anyone else having this issue?
I personally haven't noticed it on neither mine nor my wife's.

Yes, I had the same experience. When I looked at what was using the battery, RATC (rageagainstthecage) was just behind Display. I didn't try to uninstall/reinstall or anything, though. I just switched to Z4 and have been running it since.
Z4 gives me problems sometimes after reboot, though. I occasionally have to try 2-3 times before the temp root takes. I may try switching back to Visionary at some point to see if I see the same battery issue.
Thank you for confirming this. Without temp root via visionary my battery lasts all day. With visionary, about 3-4 hours.

I have not. Honestly, I removed all of the bloatware and have not had much of a reason for temp root. I am at work, and forgot my charger, and thus am hesitant to test it now, as I need my phone to occupy me on the subway ride home. I will test this tonight and report back with the results.

are you seeing visionary use battery in task killer/autokiller, etc? once it runs on my phone and provides root, it doesn't run anymore. it may just be it is getting stuck on something, and continously running, which would obviously drain the battery.
Let us know what you find.

Agreed, once it has root it shouldn't be running, or has no reason to be running more specifically.
Check it out for yourselves, visionary will restart itself after being killed. Autorun manager also lists it as a self restarter.
It doesn't restart on my phone, that's weird. BTW, I'm not calling you a liar, lol, just haven't had it myself.

Visionary is set to run at startup for me and runs and provides root and is never heard from again, until reboot.
Where did you get Visionary from? What settings do you have setup? Have you tried uninstalled and reinstalling?

Hi all,
I'm going to install fresh's 3.2.0.0 for my EVO. I'm wondering if someone can confirm the steps below:
(currently rooted 2.1)
Backup via titanium
Nandroid Backup
Clear Cache(s)
Add Fresh3.2.0.0.zip from root of SD Card
download Titanium and reload my backup
I've done this with CM and it works great, but I don't understand the signed/unsigned portion and want to make sure I understand the steps for this ROM.
Thanks in advance
That's just about the gist of it, only thing you didn't specify is you will want to be sure and wipe data along with cache and dalvik
cool, thanks for the quick reply!
Any idea how many people experience slow data rates with 3.2.0.0? That's my only concern at this point. Everything else seems legit.
I have been using it for the past two days.great battery life so far.I put it on my wifes phone today and think it is best to reinstall the apps from scratch rather than use titanium.I has some issues with using the backed up data.

I installed it yesterday while at work. This morning I unplugged at 6:30 and by 7:30 I was down to 67%. I immediately restored back to Evio and can't decide if I should try it again or not.

Thanks for the vote of confidence....all I did was install it. No apps, no tweaking, nothing.
You do know we're talking about Fresh 3.2 right? As in the donation only rom? Not 3.1.0.2 which I get just fine battery life out of.
It's a completely different kernal then the 3.1's. I have no justification for it, all I know is I had nothing on my phone, took a freaking shower and got my kids ready, got in my car and looked down to see the drain.

Ah well, I've never used those kernels. I always use netarchy. So, maybe I'm talking out of my ass but I'd still wager, a rewipe and reinstall might make a difference. I've just never had an issue with his Roms and it would shock me if he fell off like that all of a sudden.
OP, I haven't tried any of flipz's work on the EVO so I can't speak about it from experience.
All I can say is after much consideration I have officially become a fan of cyanogenmod. I do a lot of tweaking to get things the way I like but it's well worth the time and effort.
To anyone who doesn't get great battery life there are ways to identify rogue apps, don't want to derail the thread, but if you are sure you don't have any apps keeping your phone awake 100% of the time, and you're not spending a lot of "time without signal" and you still aren't getting great battery life then please do yourself the favor of using Juice Defender. I was reluctant to jump on the bandwagon but WOW. I consistent get 26+ hours on one charge. It basically DRASTICALLY reduces sleep time battery drain, which gives you more up time usage and lengthens the window of time before you have to recharge, and it does this without impacting performance. I'm sorry this sounds like a commercial for Latedroid but I'm just so amazed I can't help but mention it..

No, and I don't think he fell off either. He and his testers are getting day and a half batteries off the new Kernal. Like I said, I have no explanation, and it was not meant as a reason not to check it out.
I have no idea why, but my phone has seemed to be a quick battery drainer no matter what since the beginning. Should I be blaming my 002 build? Maybe.

Mine too, but i use it heavily... Leaving IM and such running etc.... But heres the thing, you should AT LEAST be able to get a very very good battery life when you are NOT using it.
If you can't charge your phone the night before, leave it unplugged overnight, and still have 85-95% in the morning, something is busted and you need to uber-wipe...or start running logs and figure out what is doing it....Make sure you have the latest recovery agent too, the earlier ones don't seem to be wiping cache correctly (leading to pri never getting updated, but that's for a different thread).
Really the reason people are excited about this rom/kernel is because battery drains slower even when you ARE using it. Light usage (not having an IM client running all the time) will yield you a solid day on this rom no question.
I got 12 hours of fairly heavy use yesterday and had about 15% left. I was using the latest Fresh 2.1 before with fresh-toast. I found with the 2.1 ROM and kernel, that ATK helped with battery life. I was also using Setcpu and slowing the processor down as the battery ran down.
With 3.2.0.0, I am not using ATK or Setcpu and got good battery life. I did a clean install of all apps and settings when I loaded the ROM. I think that using Titanium caused problems as some of the apps changed and the data that was saved did not play nicely with the updated apps.
I tried a rush job on my wife's phone and used the Titanium backup but ended up reinstalling everything cleanly on her phone because it was acting flaky.
Most of the time, when I have had really fast battery use, it is because some app is acting up and using a lot of CPU cycles or radio. I try to limit the number of apps on the phone to what I actually use to avoid problems.
you should be fine with that, but since it is a new release, i would limit the amount of backups you restore.

I used titanium after flashing 3.2 and had no problems. I only restore apps though, not data.
3.2 working great here, i'm at 14h 37m today with moderate usage and I leave FB, Twitter, News, Google etc... on to sync and also leave 4g on all day because I seem to be finding 4g all over the place lately. No complaints at all.
I have to say that I'm getting incredible battery life with this new ROM, and Pandora is back to sounding great too.
I had no problems with Titanium BK. I restored apps and data. Facebook was the only one I found that didn't come back. Had to d/l a version from market.
I was fully charged last night. Obviously it's just been sitting overnight, but I have news, FB, Twitter, and 2 mail programs on push. I'm at 50% at 12h 18m since unplugged.
So far great battery life!

Yes you should. The new kernel on Fresh has been yielding the best battery life out there, period. It's pretty unanimous.
those that have issues with Titanium back up I have posted several times what i do i have personally NEVER had an issue using it.
first if you are moving from an ASOP to sense or vice versus or from a 2.1 to sense and vice versus .. do not restore all system settings. I ussually dont recomend restoring all system settings unless you are restoring to the same rom.
you can normally restore apps + apps data though with out to many problems (the exception is setcpu if you have a kernel with diffrent oc settings).
So what i normally do is d a batch install all apps + data. I go in and uncheck setcpu. Restore all the apps. once that is finished i go to the back up and restore tab and go down and have it restore set cpu with out app data so that it will re-detect. i also have it restore my contacts and sms info from the settings files.
this will get you all your apps backed up contacts known wifi points and sms back with data. this procedure is a little more difficult then simply a single batch restore but it is much faster then reinstalling all apps manually or losing app data for those apps that need it.
sorry to simi hijack the thread but thought i would share my method. again i have not once had an issue using this method i also flash roms a LOT in my opinion.
What the hell is going on with my phone? I have this huge wakelock and no idea where it's coming from. I've always been on latest PRL/Radio and never had a problem before. I recently reformatted my phone and installed MikG 2.52. I have an extended Sprint 2600mah battery and i believe it can do better.

It's not really huge. My phone is plugged in a lot to one of my computers, so I don't really notice it, but it is there.
wakelock
I have Miui 9.9 with SavagedZen 2.2.1CFS, latest baseband.
My phone never sleeps.
What battery usage monitor is that from?
Its built in Miui
The wakelock has to be something in the ASOP or Miui build. I installed a sense ROM (Synergy) and had no issues with wakelock.
I think it's MIUI, and only the builds after 1.8.26. I don't use MIUI anymore, I've since switched back to Sense, and I don't have it. Also, when 1.9.9 screwed up my phone, I switched back to 1.8.5, and I didn't have wakelock issues with that either.
I re-installed Miui and added Advanced task killer. Everytime I check it, Google maps is the only app running.

Calm down, I'm not trying to say that it lit my phone on fire or anything. It just screwed the install, and I decided it wasn't worth it anymore. My phone became slower and slower and more buggy with each update. AGAIN, I'm not saying this is the case for everyone. I'm glad it works for you. Honestly, I just like the way Sense runs better. However, that doesn't change the fact that the most recent MIUI builds have ridiculous wakelock issues. I'm not trying to argue with you like some of the people on here. That's just the experience I had.
Chillax homie.. I was just askin'
miui has been horrible battery for me lately also..i can only make it 5 hours maybe so I had to go back to cm7..
Log out of Facebook app, that thing causes major wake lock issues. I use phone usage app for finding my rouge apps.

That looks more like a monitoring app. Can you actually kill the apps that are running or can you set it to kill all apps automaticly?
I don't use the Facebook app so thats not it...I have even went as far as not installing anything to see if it may be an app and even stock it kills the battery..
Its a monitor app, a kill app is taskpanel. Best in my opinion.

After I had rooted my r800x I noticed my battery life was barely half of what is was or less. After grabbing BetterBatteryStatus I had found out that "lidswitchd" was using as much cpu as it could get. When I had rooted my phone I had used a different sdcard as one of the sets of instructions had recommended but not wanting to keep putting the back on I had disabled the safe sdcard option (settings->storage->Disable Safe SD card). Once I re-enabled this option my batter life went back to normal.
Not sure if its just limited to the r800x/stock2.3.3 or not so just wanted to let every know my findings, kind of curious if anyone had see this before.
Thanks for this advice. I noticed the same thing of lidswitchd using 94% of cpu. my phone was crawling man. which was causing me to loose my mind. I looked all over to find and answer and most said to factory reset. Your solution saved me from punching kittens and choking out puppies

Your signature is violating forum rules. also lagging my pc.
Also to OP.
The lidswitch has a counter that is always counting how many times the device has been slid open and closed. likely the error you see is attached to the counter process having a problem and cpu being increased because of this
very interesting
Seems to have fixed my drain. I noticed it started with 2.3.3. That's when we gained the option, correct?

Dude really? What are you using internet explorer on a Pentium II or something? Welcome to 2012 where you might want to upgrade your computer and use a better browser. My phone can handle this minor gif signature of mine. Anyway back to the topic, I used Titanium to uninstall "Anonymous usage stats" among other things. I wonder if that was the root of the problem.
IE.. LOL... if playing animated gif lags his computer.. I think it's better off for him to use a phone to browse.. trolololol...
anyway, mine running stock, rooted, and never had any battery drain. It's been pretty good so far.
Im on Stock, rooted, running 2.3.3, and I havent had any issues yet either. if im lightly using my phone, i can go almost 2 full days without charging, normal use, i can go about 25-28 hours before plugging in. Heavy use, maybe 12-15 hours. (these are just estimates, i havent actually timed it or anything, but now i might cause im kinda curious now.... lol)

Hi! I got my MX couple of months ago, and I can tell I love it. Anyways the only things I wasnt happy with were the battery life and reception, and so I updated my phone's flyme os yesterday. (from 1.0.3 to 1.1.1)
I assumed the update would fix the issues ( as I think it did for the reception ) but the battery seems to be even more horrible after the update.
It seems that after the update my MX didnt even completely charge up. I put my phone on the charger at around 2:30 and unplugged it at 13:30, so it was on power for about 11 hours, but it didnt even charge itself completely in addition to the fact that it stopped actually charging at around 8 o clock as we can clearly see from the "today" screenshot.
Then comparing it to the "yesterday" screenshot with 1.0.3 we can tell it charged itself up completely.
Ive got the new 2core model with the updated 1700 mah battery (which should have the best battery life of all of the mx models) and this makes me wonder what is the battery like on the other mx's if this is normal. And yes my phone was showing the charging animation on the screen during the time I mentioned earlier in the message.

My MX arrives this week and I'll be measuring the battery carefully to see if I can't find a replacement. (Yes, I realize it's not supposed to be "user replaceable", but the teardowns confirm that it is if you've got the patience and dedication. Here's hoping there is a higher-capacity battery in the same form factor.) Apps are nice, but more juice is better.

Hehe that's true. I use 1.1.5 and it feels pretty good.
1.1.5 is nice, however there is a bug in android terminal emulator.
The osk wont work until you change the input type setting to word based.
I also suggest prerooting the image, Ubuntu works nicely on it too.

Yeah I heard about that bug, but that's an easy fix isn't that Also never ran into the need of terminal on my MX.
There was someone on meizume forums telling he could upload a prerooted image of 1.1.5, and as I have 0 experience on how to preroot the file I wish he could do that. You see I'm a newbie - don't just tell me to do things, please tell me HOW to do the things aswell ^^,

No matter what I do I get this drain. Android os is keeping awake for 4 hrs in 12 hrs of sitting in my car. Apparently instead of dozing it says don't go to sleep instead drain the battery. I'm using amplify and app ops xposed to stop wakelocks even. Running pure nexus. Doesn't matter if its fresh install or not. Any ideas?
root and install better battery stats
Well you clearly have something waking your system. Though too much wakeblocking is just as bad. Perhaps try something else, like greenify. Most likely some rogue app.

Better battery stats didnt really tell much It seems to only happen if WiFi is on and not connected so I'll try turning it off and see. I pretty much removed everything from amplify last night and turned off WiFi and there was no drain. I'm getting amazing battery life today tho. But no dozing so I'll see tonight I guess.

If that's the case, you probably have an RX wakelock, and flashing a custom kernel [kylo for example] has that as a simple wakelock toggle you can enable.
Or block it by other means.

Thanks kylo was my next thing to try But I just wrote a tasker profile to automate WiFi on off that should take care of it. If that fails kylo is next. Thanks a bunch

No problem, also:
Kylo Downloads, since renderserver isn't being updated.
Also also: when in the kernel, there is a bug with all 4 wlan toggles, make sure it shows up as 'disabled' [toggle to the left] to have it enabled.

Honestly Android OS is the worst kind of drain because its hard to find a smoking gun. It's just the OS doing something we don't know.. While Facebook had its wakelocks, the thing is Facebook itself is not draining that much. Something else is going on.

Only advice I have is make sure searching for open WiFi isn't checked, under location make sure the scanning options are unchecked and kylos kernel seems to be helping as suggested in previous posts using the wake lock preventions.
