[Q] Using AuraxTsense 7.9 with stock lockscreen - Desire Themes and Apps

Hello,
I like the AuraxTsense them a lot but love the stock lock screen.
I have been trying to use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686567&highlight=lock but ended with endless loop bootscreen.
Also tried botlock but ended with two lock screens one after another.
Anyone have an idea how to do it ?
Thanks,
Nir

Uninstall "HTCLockscreen.apk" With an app like "SystemApp Remover".(didn't find any free alternative...) PM me if you want a link...
I think(quite sure) S-OFF is required.

If I understand you correctly, you want to use the "stock Android lockscreen" with AuraxTsense? You can use "Widget Locker" from the Market for that.

Yeah, Widget Locker is the way to go if you don't have S-OFF, OR: as EleCtrOx666 said, delete the HtcLockScreen.apk and reboot your phone.

My phone is S-OFF.
I don't feel like buying specific software for something that I am not sure working.
Does anybody have an idea how to do it\ test it without buying anything ?
Nir

Just unzip the .zip file of AuraxTSense, go to system/app and delete or rename HtcLockScreen.apk to HtcLockScreen.bak, for example and flash the Rom.

But keep in mind that you cant turn off the alarm from the lockscreen any longer as long as you use the regular alarm.
I almost killed me first morning

What launcher are you using? Did you try ADW or Launcher Pro? did you also load livewallpapers.apk?
I loaded livewallpapers.apk and the livewallapaerspicker.apk
I tried with Sense and sweeterhome
But I think I need to load the .SO files from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647837
But I have to find a different SD card because I can't get into recovery mode with my 8gb sd card.
(I left my 2gb at home)
ADW gave me the same problem.
I was able to adb remount since I pushed your clean update
But now I am getting "out of memory" when I try to push the SO files.
So I guess I will have to do the push in restore mode.

Let me know if you can figure out a way to get it running in Sense. I still haven't gotten my Aria (due to show up on Monday), but the lack of wallpapers is the one thing I was disappointed with.
Well I have live wallpapers working on my aria right now in alternate launchers like adw and launcher pro.
Pulled the files from a custom rom that adds live wallpapers for legend then rebuilt them into a rom I'm working on stripped of at&t crap. Did not replace the rosie apk since at this time tha just crashed htc.launcher.
This is a fun little phone.

Hey Bob, did you find a way to fix the non-market apps toggle in settings? I am working on a modified spare parts type deal to do that now, but if you already have a fix, I am all ears. Funny, AT&T didn't like the name Liberty. How fitting that they chose not to use it.
we really should open an IRC channel
The real question is there a way to do Live Wallpapers & Sense at the same time.
I know I am being picky, but I want my tech the way I want my tech.

There is a way since the rom i stole the stuff from was for the legend and Sense its just the version of sense that was in the rom is not compatible with our rom.
I havent even started looking into the Sense APK file yet but figure with live wallpapers working correctly i just got to figure out how to disable normal wallpapers in sense to make them work.

I havent worked at all on the market toggle, i figure since we can sideload the settings.db file and it works its very low on my care list. All i worked on today was stripping out what i didnt like and trying to make a nice clean rom that had all the default files i wanted in it (google voice, pandora, etc..). Just happened to also play with the live wallpapers and found it worked on the way home when i tried a new launcher.

Yeah all the files are on my work machine so I will do that in a bit later. Will put it into a zip able to be recovered into an existing rooted aria so anyone can add them.

Update file for adding LWP to Aria
6/28/10 - Updated to allow LWP in the Sense UI
* This assumes you have your phone rooted and have access to the Clockwork Mod to allow updating your phone with unsigned zip files *
1.) Put the file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod
4.) install zip from sdcard (option 5)
5.) choose zip from sdcard (option 2)
6.) Click on the file you downloaded and put on your sdcard
6a.) If you run into an error when installing shut off your phone,, unplug it from the USB cable, then reboot it back into Clockwork Mod and start again from step 2
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system
8.) Upon reboot you can now choose Live Wallpaper in the wallpaper options
*Issues*
The only issue that I know of at this time is you have to use the settings/personalize/lock screen wallpaper option in order to change the lockscreen wallpaper
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.
*Files*
Clean install of the LWP packages
Select this if you want to install the LWP on a clean install or install without any LWP
Update install of the LWP packages
Select this if you used the previous version with LauncherPro and Home Switcher. This will remove those packages and update to the Sense Enabled LWP.
Thanks! I just flashed it and it works great. There's Absolutely no loss with performance with it either.

Ok lets see if this works =)
1.) Put the aria-lwp.zip file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod using the rooting methods in the how to root your aria thread
3.) Go to the Partitions Menu and select the first option (mount /system)
4.) Go back to the main menu and choose to install a zip file
5.) Choose the option to install a zip from the SD Card
6.) Click on the aria-lwp.zip file
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system.
8.) Upon reboot the home menu should pop up asking you to choose which home menu to launch. Choose the LauncherPro option.
9.) Go into the wallpaper options and choose your live wallpaper, it should work with no issues.
10.) Set up your new launcher, refer to any Launcher Pro threads for more info on this nice replacement launcher.
At anytime you can use the home switcher program to go back to the HTC Sense launcher if you want to use that instead. Same with setting up which launcher is used by default when you press the home button.
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.

Any chance we'll ever get this working in Sense?
Well, that didn't work.
I am still getting force quit
I might needs to do a clean flash.
Ok, I got stock to run, but I also want to get rid of the lockscreen and make it default as well. Any ideas?
Ok, reflashed with the clean install and it worked.

Running Liberated Aria 2.1 Eclair!

Got my phone on Friday, running Eclair today!
Love it, you folks are awesome!
Question: Can I get rid of the installed SMS and substitute one I like better?
How do I remove the one that came in the software? It says "Launch by default", can I get it to not do that?
Do you have a favorite SMS program?
Thanks,
Mellow
U can extract the zip on ur computer and delete the .apks u don't want and rezip it and flash it

I also figured out that it can be done in Titanium by simply touching the application, a box pops up, and you can select remove from device. This may be obvious to some, but I am learning as I go here.
I tried that but failed so I just do what I said

Deleting System APP

Hey all
I need to remove FACEBOOK, so that I can use the launcher pro facebook widget, but its saying invalid key file when trying to log into it.
Soooooooooooo , how do I remove the original facebook ?
There only seems a force quit option , and then I cant delete it
Any help welcome
Thanks, as always
Stephen
I think you need to be rooted to do this.
Just go to the /system/app/ folder and you'll find the Facebook.apk. Delete it, and reboot.
--an Explorer is needed--
if you dont have an explorer installed (i.e. Root Explorer, or ES file explorer) then you can use adb
in cmd type 'adb shell'
then the following...
>su
>rm /system/app/Facebook.apk
(notice the capital 'F' in Facebook. the shell is case sensitive)
Brilliant , thanks I will give it a try

Any other suggestions ?
Twitter works ok, but on the launcher pro facebook widget it says error:invalid_key
any other suggestions ?

Off course you need to be rooted and you can download titanium backup from market to easily remove system app. Use it with great caution!!!

Just start from the downgrade the system and then , root, s-off,.......... It is a lot of tutorials. use serch button
Even if you're not intending to install CyanogenMod I found their guide to be the easiest to understand.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_HD:_Rooting
But dont forget once u have rooted and removed facebook u will not be able to install any ota updates from htc. Based on the bug infested updates so far that may not be a bad thing.
Sent from my HTC HD so may contain typos, bugs and, if the battery lasts, pearls of....(battery 0%)
Also if you have root permissions, use Root Explorer, go to system --> app --> and delete the Facebook app. Then you no need to hack with adb or computer.

Go launcher working!!

New method.
I have figured out a safer way to install a custom launcher. Your device still needs to be rooted.
1- Download the launcher of your choice from the Play Store.
2- With a file manager of your choice navigate to data/app folder, this will have all the apk's you've downloaded from the Play Store. (the name of the apk will look different ie: nova launcher is named "com.teslacoilsw.launcher.apk" )
3- Move launcher apk to system/app folder install or reboot(the permissions should already be set to rw-r--r-- so no need to change them)
Personally I like using Rom Toolbox Pro/Lite(can be found in play store, i bought the pro version for more options), I have no affiliation but this app is great and you should check it out. It has every different tool for root users you can think of. In the App Manager section if you long press on any app there is an option to "convert to system app", no moving, cut/paste, or installing.
This should help avoid getting some screwed up apk file from an alternate source and messing up your device.
As always try at your own RISK.
I would recommend checking out this thread before messing around with your device:

Can you specify which version of Go Launcher you used and where you obtained the apk from?
After having a near-brick experience attempting to install Go Launcher on my original Kindle Fire last year, I'd like to try it with something known to work.
Thanks in advance.

I just googled go launcher ex apk. Dont think its ok to specify exactly which site i used(3rd maybe..) but I downloaded v3.13.
I completely feel ya, try at your own risk but definitely worked with mine.
I didn't need to restart but I can confirm go launcher and Nova are working. I'm sure any launcher will
Well maybe some of these other launchers are better but all I want is the android look to tell the truth with icons so ADW Launcher EX without rooting is fine by me to get away from the carousel.
Works great. Thank you.

For me its not even about which launcher is better they all have pros and cons, but i personally like to use my home button. With this process you can set the launcher as default. Not be bounced back to the stock launcher every time you use the home button and have to reload a custom launcher. Too much of a hassle for me and takes away from the experience.
This method also worked with Go Launcher HD, it looks better then then regular Go Launcher imho.

It does i agree, but is there a way to hide the notification bar and action bar on hd version?
I didn't find the way to hide NAV bar. All works perfect with Go launcher HD. I am sure that nobody want to try removing NAV bar, cause it is a high risk of breaking your KFHD. Auto-hide in this case would be great, but i can't understand when NAV bar hides. I suppose it hides when there is in exit button, or return button in running apk. IMHO.
How do you change permission on a non rooted device. I downloaded the go launcher hd all v1.17. I tried rebooting and nothing. Can I do this on a stock fire. If so can you provide a step by step. I tried moving the apk to system/apps but says the apk cannot be moved. Thanks

There is a setting in go launcher ex that allows you to hide nav and notification bars, the little tab is still visible at the bottom or side of screen so you can open them with ease. Gives the tablet a full screen. I love the look of the hd version but would rather have the full screen, wish the would put this option on the hd version

you cannot change permissions of system files or anything about them unless the device is rooted. This keeps the average person from screwing up there device.
Lockscreen?
Guys, have any of you had luck with the lockscreen for GoLauncher? I tried GoLocker and i had to go through the original Amazon Kindle Fire HD lockscreen and then to the GoLauncher Lockscreen. SO, basically, i had two lockscreens going on at once. Is there a fix for this?

Happens with the KF 1st gen also but I never bothered with it. Might want to look into the KF 1st gen and see if anyone found a way around it.

To get go launcher ex working on the KFHD I took these steps.(On rooted device)
1- download the Go launcher ex.apk from a third party (from play store will not work)
3- change permissions to rw-r--r--
2- using a file manager find the apk and move to system/app folder.
4- reboot the device.
When it reboots there should be a message saying "kindle is upgrading".
Then it should prompt you to pick which launcher you want to use.
If you did not get the latest version you can now go to play store and update.
I assume this will work for other launchers though i have not tried it.
Finally I feel like im using more of an android interface(at least until someone figures out this bootloader problem and i can flash cm10)
I just downloaded go launcher hd and did not change permissions, still worked. Could someone tell me if this is necessary. I just copied the permissions of the stock launcher when i loaded the ex version so i assumed it was necessary they were the same

I did step by step like you, but after restarted my KFHD freezing at KF logo, please help me to fix it.
First question, did you install this app in the /system/app folder, AFTER you placed it in there? You must install the launcher after it is placed and permissions are changed. It appears you may have a soft brick if that KFHD isnt booting at all.

WELP! That doesn't seem like a great scenario to be in. If this was me, I would connect it to my PC and pray that while you're stuck in that logo limbo it would still give you connectivity. I would then go into the /system/app through your PC (on your KFHD directory) and physically remove the launcher files. Then try a restart.

[Q] How can i remove system apps without root?

Hi all!
I'd like to ask the question in my title: Is there a way i can remove a system app (for example SIM toolkit) without rooting?
I was thinking if i can somehow use ADB with root privileges and remove system apps through recovery or fastboot!
Thanks in advance!
You would have to do it with root and then remove root again - kinda pointless tbh
you can go to settings, appd, all.. pick the system app that you want, then press disable. but you cant remove them without root.

Tbh this is what i'm doing for all apps that i dont want.
The one that really gets on my nerves (and is the reason for this thread) is sim toolkit which can not be disabled this way!
Just a quick question: why do you want to remove the apps? If it's just because they clutter up your app drawer, or something like that, wouldn't it be easier to simply install a launcher and hide the apps?
That's the method I use. If I can't see them, then they don't really bother me.

sometimes(not always), just because you dont see them doesnt mean that they arent draining your battery or using your ram. at least facebook isnt a system app on a nexus :silly:
Pretty sure you cant get rid of sim toolkit, it will just get installed again, I think its coming from the sim card.
Use twrp file manager and delete stuff in the system/app/ folder.
Sim toolkit is not a drain. I'm not sure why you want to remove apps or why you don't want to root. Messing with /system can prevent you from being able to use ota update.
