Does anyone elses DroidX suck now that it has Froyo? - Droid X General

My DroidX...was an OK phone with the stock Android 2.1 with that very early on update VZW pushed to it. Push e-mail worked properly, the interface was snappy (****ty design, but at least snappy), and the overall experience didn't suck.
Now that it's upgraded...it's a POS. Push e-mail refuses to push (it's not our server at work, EVERYONE at work with windows mobile and android phones OTHER than the DroidX is fine, and EVERY DroidX doesn't work)...have to manually pick refresh on the phone even though push IS enabled. The user interface is much much much less snappy...everything that used to feel smooth and fluid, is jerky and annoying now, text entry is much more hokey (get incorrect text all the time)...it sucks...plus there's no way for me to disable the 4 digit pin nonsense to unlock the phone, even though our IT department has assured me, it's not their doing (and again, it's only those of us with X's, the HTC Incredibles and windows mobile phones are all fine)...wish I'd gotten an HTC Incredible instead of this thing to use as my work phone.
I'm SO happy that my personal phone is an Evo and I ONLY have to use this DroidX for work...the X physically feels like it's built better, but this newest update really makes it suck (and since it's works phone, I don't even want to consider rooting it or messing with the roms on it...our policy at work requires us to accept updates to phones too).

i just have one problem about the phone too, the email push notification doesn't work worth a damn now or before, unless i physically turn off my phone and turn it back on, then i will receive my work email, but sometimes its too late..

My droidx with ota 2.2 is better than ever! Best phone I've ever had!
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App

I dont have the pin lock..... weird...

My only email is Gmail and that push works excellent.

ota 2.2 is alot faster than 2.1 it may have a few bugs in it but what phone doesnt? although if for some reason you dont like it, im sure someone would trade you a droid 2 or incredible for your phone.

You may want to give this a look over. Many people say that it helped them. It wont involve anything that compromises the integrity of your phone with your company. Strictly a legitimate solution. No hacks or root involved.

Faster? Really? UI experience is slower, maybe random crap in the background happens faster, but the phone FEELS slower...going to Froyo on my Evo made everything feel smoother/faster/better...
What phone doesn't have bugs...well...how about the DroidX with it's original version of 2.1 on it? Everything worked fine...I wish I wasn't required to accept updates on it, I never would have...and no, can't trade it, work owns it, I'm just stuck using it until August of 2012 as we upgrade every 2 years. Motorola screwed up with this update.
I just had someone from IT help me remove and re-add my exchange account and now it does push. Text entry is still laggy, and the screen motion is nowhere near as smooth/fluid/nice as it was with 2.1 on this phone. The push problem had to do with the phone not properly maintaining a security certificate with the exchange server when the 2.2 OTA update was sent to it.

...nevermind, push already stopped working again...sat down at my desk to see an e-mail came in an hour ago...phone still doesn't know about it...the whole reason I have the phone is to respond to e-mail as fast as possible...good job Motorola...

I've only had one problem and that was the stock battery manager force closing, but it seems to be a common problem and will most likely be fixed soon.

Well...I tried a factory reset...brought the phone back on, added the corporate sync account, and now I no longer am required to enter the 4 digit pin (thank god, that was just assinine that I wasn't allowed to disable it before)...push worked for another hour or so, had a few random people in the office sending me e-mails and I Was getting them on the phone...it died again though.
I found the battery management setting, and put it to max performance, I don't care about battery life...if the phone makes it from a little before 8 am (when I'm on my way to work) until 5 pm (when I leave)...I don't care if it's almost dead...but that doesn't seem to have helped.
The ONLY software thats on the phone at this point, is what Motorola shipped it with, and what the market asked me to update when I gave it the gmail account that I signed up specifically to ONLY use to enable the market on this phone (gmail, google maps and google search after the factory reset)...haven't installed anything else yet...but since I still have the problem, I'll probably go back and put the ring scheduler app (thing kicks ass) and astro file manager back on the phone...because they clearly aren't the cause of the issue with push.
After the factory reset, the multitouch keyboard is quick like it should be...but swype is still laggy...the beta version of swype on my Evo (yes I'm in the official beta) is WAY better...wish I could update the DroidX to that version of it...the old version of it on 2.1 was far smoother.

I hate the 2.2 update, my X laggs and few of my apps don't work with it. On the up side flash is nice and more web applications work. Phone is more functional with vbulletin forums, chatboxes, and menus.
I want my easyroot back!

Push e-mail worked for a few hours this morning...didn't change a dam thing...it's not working again now though...hasn't been since 11.

I'm also having issues with the sync stopping working on my email accounts (work exchange account, yahoo imap account and gmail). I reboot and it works for a while, then it stops again.
I just got the phone and I've never been on 2.1 so I don't have anything to compare it too. The sync is the only legit complaint I've got with the phone so far.

Update?

Anyone got any Idea of a update for the Hero? Or anything lol
HTC & Sprint need to get off their lagging lazy butts to deliver it, in another words We will have to live with "Patience is a virtue"
A update to what? The phone has only been available on sprint for a couple weeks.
Do you even know the battery drain issue it is having out of the box?
There is a work around for it.
Hopefully we'll see something in the next 30 days or so but don't hold your breathe for a quick fix.

Yes Work around was in few hours after i got my device in my hands. It wasn't hard to figure out. Btw i got my Hero on the oct 9th.
The update would be nice so that we too can have access to Market 2.0 and additional applications that are on v1.6
Although an update would be nice, I personally doubt there will be one anytime soon. Sprint rushed this out really quick, proof of the matter is that the unit has Android 1.5 on it. 1.6 is the one that truly has CDMA built in and should take care of some of the issues, but its 2.0 that is the real one to look forward to. At the pace that google is doing, 2.0 will be out soon enough and Sprint might just want to wait out for that update instead of a 1.6 update.
TS
Which that is what they is probably doing is just waiting for 2.0. But think someone could just make a app for all the Not Knowlegded people that dont know how to do the fix. and just make a simple fix app. Who knows. I am still loving the phone

what fix?
and sprint doesn't HAVE to do an entire firmware upgrade to fix bugged apps, the voice mail app update popped up once when I did a firmware update check. So as long as there's an update to a certain app, normal means of updating should pick up on it.
Although with my history with sprint, we probably won't see a fix for the battery/memory leak until they roll out 1.6 or 2.0.

Probably the fix where you kill the dialer and replace the default txt messaging app with a 3rd party one.
There are some pretty extensive howto's that explain the details...

that's more of a workaround but whatever. Original comment still remains, they can push a update for just that app without having to wait till 1.6, 2.0 or whatever

Guess we will find out
workaround for the battery issue
the life of the battery realy sucks, doesn't last a day, is there a workaround for that? can anyone please link to it?

here's what I do, i get pretty excellent battery life actually.
1)download handcent SMS from the market
2)open handcent press menu>settings
3)verify notifications are enabled in handcent
4)open up the native messenger app
5)go to menu>settings disable all check boxes
6)press home>menu>settings>wireless controls>mobile network settins>
7)disable data roaming & enable always on mobile
8)press home>menu>settings>location
9)disable use wireless networks and gps satellites
10)press home>menu>add>htc widgets>settings
11)choose toggles for connection
12)repeat step 10&11 untill all toggles are added to home screen
11)reset phone
if you find it hard to connect at times, to go step 6&7, and enable instead of disable
additional stuff you may or may not want to do (some cost money)
I also went out to seidio and got an slightly extended battery 1750 mah
http://www.seidioonline.com/category-s/3685.htm
1)download openhome full or lite, openhome htc hero skin, & flip clock beta from market
2)press home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications>htc sense> clear defaults
3)press home select "set as default" and press openhome
4)press menu>more>open home settings>
My settings (yours may varry) uncheck the following
persist mode
weather widget
number of screens>your choice, mine is 3
hide addons
workspace gestures
application dock
soft keyboard search
workspace label
5)press menu>more>skins
6)choose htc hero
7)press home>menu>add>widgets>
8)choose flip clock large, and connectivity widget
may change but it's listed as open home widget (it's there i promise)
to revert changes and get back to htc sense (default)
press home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications>open home> clear defaults
press home, check set as default, and choose preferred home app
all these little things and I get about 2-3 days juice with moderate normal use.
Hey guys,
Been lurking for a few weeks, figured it was time to post.
I took my phone into a local sprint store (for the battery/SMS issue, plus an internal hook-up is giving me another battery), and my internal guy said that sprint is sending out an update for at least the battery issue sometime late this week (10/25/09-11/01/09) or early next week. He told me he was waiting on the SD card sprint sends out large updates on. I asked if maybe this was donut and he told me not to hold my breath, but at least the battery issues will be fixed. He also said that sprint HQ is telling the techs that battery life will improve up to 35%.
Cheers,
Matt
Part of the sluggishness in creating updates for the Sprint Hero specifically I think is the fact that the 1.5 ROMS we run now are cobbled together to add CDMA support. Think about it - this is the only currently released HTC Android phone on a CDMA network, guys. Ever. So updating the Sprint Hero ROM to 1.6, which supposedly has built in CDMA support, is going to take longer than for the GSM version which doesn't need to worry about switching over from a homebrew radio support to the new Android-provided support.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to bash your comments here. But there's a good chance that the CDMA support in 1.6 was built around the work the google, sprint, and htc engineers all worked together to build. Seeing they have the first CDMA android phone.
I would be VERY surprised if there's a team of cell radio engineers working within google. I'm willing to say with the upmost confidence that the layer in which you think is bugged in the hybrid 1.5(cupcake) will not be fixed with a full android 1.6 (donut) release by it's self.
With the reports that both GSM and CDMA are having problems with receiving sms's, now the problem to the battery leak in the sms application. I'd venture to say it's on HTC (rosie) portion of the code not google's (donut)
I used to have a HTC mogul and it had similar SMS problems, getting double txt's (i even got a couple of them on my hero but ignored it), and expecially awaking from sleep problems... (15 missed calls, never once ringing) I never waited to see these problems fixed and I had that phone for about a year.
I've never in the past had any problems with my LG, SAMSUNG, or SANYO in reference to sms's or power. This is really feeling like a htc specific problem, not a android.
I'm not saying you won't see these fixed in htc's 1.6 hopeful release, if it is fixed it's only because HTC fixed rosie/senseui, not something android did or didn't do correctly.

My understanding of the android dev tree is that 1.5, 1.6, and 2.0 are/were at some point being simultaneously developed. I'd be willing to bet that the CDMA drivers/source/etc. that's already in the Sprint Hero is the same stack included in Donut, just compiled with the rest of the 1.5 source.
But I'm not an OS developer, so I don't know if this is exactly how it works.

I agree with you - I'm sure it's a problem with HTC's software itself. I was just trying to point out why it's likely taking longer than many would like for HTC to get an update (whether it's still on 1.5+CDMA, 1.6, or to 2.0) is due to the complexity of the situation... we've got a brand new device from a company unfamilar with Android+CDMA running its own custom UI, running an OS that is constantly changing that enables users to customize their running processes endlessly. HTC is really up against a wall in terms of trying to hit fast-moving targets on these updates, I think. Some frustration is warranted, but the phone has been out for 3 weeks now, and who is an early adopter that doesn't expect some bumps in the road?

Syncing??

Hey guys,
So, I have turned off ALL automatic syncing as much as possible. But somehow, the stupid little sync wheel keeps coming on every now and then. Next time I see it, what's the best way to determine what's ACTUALLY syncing? Astro? Task Killer?
Go to settings<accounts and sync<tmobile and youll see that tmo contacts sync runs whether its on or off...you can turn it on and back off and itll kill it for a while...but thats about all you can do til someone comes up with a fix...hopefully froyo will fix it.
-BMFC
Thanks. Any new word on when Froyo will be released?
During a conversation with a t-mo store manager, he gave me the usual rundown of fixes to help with the syncing problem and said that tmo was rushing the fix. They gave away tens of thousands of slides on the fathers day promo and are getting buried in cust service call about it.
He said that despite the PITA that the sync problem caused, its probably the luckiest break that slide users will ever get, in that tmo will push the froyo update out faster to get this problem fixed. Lets hope they dont push an interim fix instead.
I really dont have much of a problem with the sync issue myself. I also dont have any issues with dust getting under the screen. Guess I'm the lucky one.
I used to have the same problem with the syncing, but lately it seems to be working fine. I'm not sure if t-mobile fixed something on their end or not.

What the **** is wrong with this **** phone

I am on my fourth one (long story -- don't ask). I get this fourth one, everything works fine and dandy for a few hours. Then the same problems that happened to my last one are happening again. Random apps are trying to download and they show up as downloaded "unsuccessfully" and when I try to download apps they are stuck at "Starting download...". I thought this problem on my third Vibrant was caused by me messing around with flashing some custom ROMs, going back to stock, etc. (after the JI6 upgrade via Kies bricked by Vibrant). However, the replacement I just got - one that I have not done anything but rooted - is now having the same problems. Random apps are downloading by themselves only to be downloaded unsuccessfully and I can go longer download any apps from market - they are all stuck at "Starting download...".
So, then I thought maybe it wasn't the Vibrant that is the problem -- maybe it is my sim card. So yesterday I swap out sim cards, and the problems still occur. Maybe it is the JI6 update that is causing problems, or maybe I am just cursed when it comes to the Vibrant but this phone has been nothing but trouble for me since I got it in July...
That said, anyone have any helpful tips on how to get my issue resolved? Otherwise, I am going to call up T-Mobile and move to myTouch HD (when it comes out) or G2 (I really don't want G2 cause of physical keyboard and rootkit).
Sounds like reception problems. It happens every so often to me. Definitely not reason to return the phone unless it happens more often than not. Considering it's your fourth phone...
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
It isn't reception issues. I have full bars, can surf the Internet, etc. and even tried it on WiFi. There is definitely something wrong. It isn't the sim card (I swapped it out). It isn't my Google account (I tried different ones). It isn't the specific Vibrant I have (I just got an exchange two days ago -- both phones had same problem).
So all I have left is either it is JI6 causing the issue or a rogue app. I just did a factory reset to see if maybe that solves the problem. If it doesn't, well, bye bye Samsung hello HTC.
The chances that both phones would have this obscure market problem is very unlikely. Given that all other data services work well, have you ever considered that maybe it's Google's market servers? Did you sign into your Google account then immediately start to download all of your paid applications while it was syncing all of your contacts and email? Are you over dramatizing the problem? Again, this is your fourth phone...
user error?
Not the phone, it's your location/service. I have issues downloading from market at certain places even with full service also. It's poor data connections I believe.

I can't be Market. The downloads are working perfect after a reset that took a mere two minutes. Market up and down in two minutes? I doubt it. The real test is to see if it will continue to work, because it is after a few hours that the problems occur.
Syncing works fine all the time, and market works perfect after the initial setup. It is after a while that it messes up... I don't know whats up.
That said, why would I be over dramatizing the problem? To get pitty on XDA?

Could be JI6 caused some location-only issue? Because I was able to use my Vibrant just fine for 1-1.5 months without this issue. This issue really only showed up for I upgrade to JI6.

rogue app. man I was going nuts when I first got this phone, because randomly it would reboot and go into a boot-loop. after trial and error, I found out is was THE Hero of Sparta HD game from gameloft.
I would reformat and install the basic apps first, then the extras, one by one... to see if you have a bad app. Its the only way I got the the end of my problem.
Stock J16 or a J16 build?

It's your Google account at this point. Swap it out for another!

The Google account may be the problem..... but not convinced I think the statement (user error) look in the mirror is more correct. BTW, I always use wifi in updating it is just easier and faster, I would assume that you re doing the same.

yeah. I have the same problem. it seems to be location specific. it sounds dumb but when I'm in the mall area near my house i have all but one bar full 3G connection (and that stays pretty consistent give or take a bar or so) and both market and browser have major issues. if you try a bunch of times it might go through occasionally but for the most part it says I have a great connection but I don't. but when i leave the mall area all is fine again. its a pretty large area about a mile square or so. I also drop calls alot there. its really weird. wifi works fine usually although some public wifi connections have the port you need to download from the market blocked so don't get frustrated if that doesn't work either. internet browsing works fine over wifi though
my wife has the exact same phone and has the exact same problems in that area so I'm pretty sure its not the phone
also oddly I never tried using my phone at the mall before the JI6 update (Which I got OTA not a manual install) so I suppose it could have to do with the update but I cant confirm that.
I can say that my Mytouch 3G worked in the same area just fine (although its been a month or so since I tryed it), so its kinda weird.

A little confusing here since you were able to flash custom roms successfully which is much more harder and dangerous for you and most of us here, AND you can't still figure out how to get the market app working properly? hmm..Not to blame directly on you but your case MUST be very rare.

System Update 1.84.708.1 CL322105

First things first, HTC Desire Z, I am in New Zealand on the Vodafone network in case that makes a difference and running bog standard Sense UI with no mods or ROMs or anything like that.
I have done a search and can't find anything similar anywhere except some asian sites, and I suspect (but hope it isn't) because the phone came from Hong Kong.
Ok, last night an update came through to my phone with the above code, I have lodged a query with HTC but no response as yet and figured you guys may have a better/quicker fix.
Essentially since the update came through the phone has been very slow and glitchy... stalls on background screen before loading app buttons, widgets, menus everything.
So I guess I want to know A: is this a legit update or is it some sort of hack?
and B: can I revert somehow to the last/correct version or am I going to need to install a ROM and start from scratch?
I appreciate your help and if you need any more info just ask.
cheers
Tis legit. HTC seem to be rolling the update worldwide, but very slowly. My dad got it in the UK last Tuesday, I'm still waiting.
His phone seems to be ok. If you're still having problems, try hard reset?
Cheers dude, ok at least that is one less thing to worry about
might give a hard reset a go
I've heard that once you do a update its always good to do a factory reset its like a pc you'll need to give it a good cleaning some time LOL try that

You'll find that if its provided through a carrier, they'll handle the software updates after HTC issues them to ensure their "value added software" or "crap" is loaded on it.
Saying that, mine is a UK SIM free from HTC and I still haven't got the 1.8x.xxx.x update, I'm at 1.72
Heya, I also have the Desire Z, bought from Hong Kong, use on Vodafone, live in Wellington NZ, and also did the update this morning.
Haven't noticed my phone running any slower yet but keen to see the improvements touted though. So far just seen little UI cosmetic changes.
Be sure to go into accounts and redo your sync settings, it put stocks and weather back to real time sync on mine...turned them off straight away.
AHHHHH that could have something to do with the hanging issue. I did a hard reset and initially it seemed better but then once I had re-instated my backed up data, contacts etc, (especially after I shut off the HTC messaging app, and re-synched my google accounts for some reason) it started hanging again.
Maybe the stocks (which I have banished) is trying to sync in the background somewhere? *wanders off to see*
It is a good sign that it is working on other DZ's, main issue seems to be on keyboard open/close events... so might just be incompatiblility with an app I'm running... god I hope it isn't Handcent
Ok, update time, redone the sync settings, removed anything that has been added in the last week or so in case I just didn't notice (unlikely but ???) the hanging problem.
oefox are you using Handcent for your messaging or the standard messaging app? i have removed it and that seems to have made a slight improvement although only very slight... this is driving me mad... may have to try another hard reset tonight and rebuild the data only and start again with apps.
Fake edit: HTC got back to me "try soft reset, hard reset... sorry can't help as phone is HK build, we have passed your query to them... they will be in touch" We shall see?
Actual Edit: Also seems to be destroying battery life all of a sudden, and it seems to think it has been off the charger for 22 minutes... which is odd as it came off the car charger 5 hours ago... hmmm.. definite issues here... looks like an actual rebuild may have to happen :/
You could try an app like Watchdog Lite from the Android Market to see if there is a process gobbling up your CPU cycles? It may be the cause of what's slowing the phone and draining your battery...

Thanks for that, I have installed Watchdog Lite, removed a couple of apps that I thought might be a little bit problematic and I will stop playing with it for the day and how the battery reacts to "normal" use i.e. not constantly setting/resetting loading/unloading/deleting/syncing/unsyncing stuff lol... still seems to hang and whatnot though but we shall see.
If that doesn't help I will try a fresh hard reset and build from scratch (not from backup) and see if that helps :/
Call me uninspiring but I really like the default email and messaging. I have found after playing with it for a couple of days now that it will sometimes hang for a couple of seconds when returning to the home screen, shows the background but no icons for a few seconds.
On the plus side my wifi seems to have improved stability somewhat.

I did upgrade the firmware, but I didnt notice any improvement.
I mean everything is just fine
I thought that it would upgrade it to Gingerbread and Sense 3.0
I would be nice to have that version
Cheers
I have an HK Desire Z as well, and have experienced the exact same problem since the system update. I have not tried a hard reset because I'd rather not spend the time, but the home screen "blank and reload" issue is quite aggravating. I may have no other choice but to reset.
I will try waiting a couple days to see if somebody posts an easier fix.
Aha if you have a G2 wait till T-mobile gives it to us... we will be getting gingerbread

Ok, good to see it isn't just me, it is definitely an issue and the reset doesn't seem to help much so if you havn't already done it don't bother localhost21. however I think I have found the main culprit and it seems to be the Google Maps updates that are causing the majority of the hanging etc.
if you remove the updates, i.e. go back to the standard version that came on the phone and it seems to make quite a difference so try that.
Unfortunately as i use the navigation function on maps quite a bit I kinda need to keep it so a bit of a catch 22. If you don't really need it though that should solve most of the problem... if any other fixes arrive let me know
Hopefully vodafone NZ give us the Gingerbread upgrade, or google brings navigation out of beta because it really is very good.
Edit: Still hangs, I have become a habitual killer of tasks which is nearly as annoying as the hanging, esp. if you have to open the task manager after it has hung, and it seems the processes causing the hang won't stay dead (auto-killed etc) *goes hunting for basic, stable, rom*
I encountered a new problem in that my notification sounds seem to randomly choose what to play when I recieve sms/calls so I did a hard reset but I still have that issue.
It also still hangs on the home screen if the k/b is open so hard reset doesn't fix this problem so I want to try a new rom
Has anyone done a root/flash yet with a HK Z?
I have a HTC Desire Z on the 2Degrees Network. I'm running Android version 2.2.1 Build numner is 1.84.708.1 CL322105 can I get an upgrade? Vheers.

What do you mean? I have HK DZ.
I rooted it. But I had to downgrade it to ROM 1.34.xx.
As I understand, there is no way atm to root from ROM 1.84.xx

[Q] Emails not pushing with exchange on CM7

I've been experiencing issues with my work email not pushing to my phone running CM7. When I was on stock it was pretty quirky and I noticed the same quirky behavior on Iced Glacier, but, it's actually the closest to working now that I have CM7, other than the fact that it won't push.
So, here's what's happening, periodically (or should I say inevitably, since it happens regularly), exchange will stop pushing emails to my phone. At first, when I boot my phone, everything is working fine and I receive any emails which had not been previously pushed to my phone. After awhile, usually about 3 hours or so, push just stops working. It feels like something is getting hung up, because when I try and open mail and refresh the emails nothing happens. During this time, I also can't pull any contacts off the global contacts when I try and compose an email. On that note, I'm not sure if anything I try and send is actually going out during this time. I have tried disabling and re enabling sync, but that didn't do anything. Actually, it looks like it get stuck during exchange sync, which confuses me just as much.
However, the kicker is that if I reboot the phone, it starts working just fine... until the problem appears again. I'm currently running CM 7.0 but I had this problem in CM7 RC2 as well (my last ROM).
Any ideas guys?
Your best bet is to ask this in the correct thread. I would suggest posting this in the CM7 thread where you got the ROM. There is where other users and the developer can assist with questions such as yours.
I was originally going to ask over there, but I realized I didn't have enough posts to do so. I guess I'll live with my issue until I get enough posts to post in the developer forums (which may be awhile, because I'm a hardcore lurker).

Hey toast, I use work exchange as well and I have actually had better results with CM7 versus stock. ONly thought I have is did you do a full wipe before you upgraded/installed? That seems to fix most of my issues.
**Side Note** I know you didn't post this in the dev forum cause as a noob like me, we're not allowed.

I did do a full wipe. I make sure to always do a full wipe when installing a new ROM. I will say that CM7 works better than stock, but that's only when it works. I mean, one thing that may be causing problems is that in my area, we only have GPRS, we don't have EDGE, 3G, or Pseudo-4g. I have to roam to get EDGE, which, only provides a decent connection about half of the time. Do you think it might be possible that it's getting hung up when I leave wifi?

I think there's a good chance that is your problem. If its working good on Wifi and not on cell connection, especially GPRS, then the exchange server probably can't push data fast enough to refresh and times out.

I agree, that seems like a fairly logical reason. Especially when you consider it's also too slow to actually download MMS messages without a time-out. I guess I'm just going to have to live with this until T-mobile finally gets their network here upgraded (they were supposed to have it up and running 2 months ago, but failed to do so due to government agencies failing to get off the damn spectrum).
Either way, do you think there might be any chance of any sort of work around?

I'm curious what general area your in? I'm not gonna say who I work for but lets call it a US carrier that isn't looking forward to a possible merger with AT&T
I know the build out is supposed to aggressive this year, so there is hope your coverage gets better. Sadly, if turning off push mail and using a manual sync mode doesn't work either, I think your out of luck when not on Wifi.
I live in San Angelo, Texas. Apparently, our fiber lines have been laid and they're just waiting to flip the switch.
