[Q] battery icon & strange issue - Galaxy Spica General

how can i restore the original battery icon on the spica, iam using samdroid 1.3.1d and i have the 5% battery icon which i really dont like.
also the battery works fine till 40% after that it goes down to 5% in only 10 to 15 minutes without me doing anything, wifi, bluetooth off.
is it a faulty battery???

anyone please

there are a lot of updates over at samdroid , it aint a faulty battery

That is also my experience, it is not the battery but how the spica reports the battery level. The updates did not do anything to touch that.
If you notice, the drop from 70 to 50 is exceedingly long compared to 50 down to 5. So i think it balances out. Just anticipate it next time until a real fix to accurate power level reporting comes.

and what about the battery icon can it be restored?
i cannot find any thing on samdroid to restore it

[Q] Serious Trouble about Battery Life

Yes, it's really official , my battery life is draining like hell... I actually hope that's a battery problem or a rom problem so i could fix it cheaply, but if it is about the phone , i'm messed up .
so here it goes, i've got that htc hero i've bought from a friend so im not entirely sure if the battery is well, at least it was when it came on my hands. I had the official rom, and i cant be sure how many time did it spend without charging because i did change immediately the ROM . Now i have froydvillain 1.7.2 installed and i can say that i putted my phone on charge before i went to bed, when i woke up there was 15% gone from the battery, not so bad, i guess.. the worse became after. i did the usually stuff with it, texting, one or two calls not so much, always not using wi-fi, bluetooth or anything like that at all. not listening to music... when i arrived home there was been 16 h and 20 min and the battery was totally off. when i checked up which program was affecting battery most, and it was the screen and it was taxed as 51% of utilisation, i dont know why , there was just 1 h and 30 min of using it, and i can say the my brightness settings are automatic. Im really getting crazy, i also turned of 3g, only using 2g now to save battery, what a mess here guys. any help ?????
Model - HTC Hero
Android Version - 2.2.1
Radio - 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14
Kernel - 2.6.29.6-flykernel-12a
ROM - FroydVillain 1.7.2
I have installed elelinux 6.2.0 wifi always on if not connected to 3g.screen at 8% !no bluetooth,no gps...just 2 calls, whattsapp texting and surfing during the day.100% at 8 am 50% at least in the evening.try this.as far as i know there is no memory effect with these batteries.
Try my settings or delete apps that work in the background.
Hope this helps

Battery Calibration
Hi there,
I have 1.7.2 also and I get approx 2 days of battery life before it hits 15%. Light usage though. My display usage always seems to be approx 30-50% overall so don't worry about that just yet.
What i think you need to do is calibrate the battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Battery_Calibration
Do that and once you are on full charge, before you turn on your phone boot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
Should be all good .
Also are you running any overclock? 352-576 is more than okay and should help with battery life... Most people run it on smartass but I get screen wake-up issues with it so run it on-demand.
Give that a go then if that doesn't work come back and ask some of the smarter people for some advice as thats about all i know about battery issues.
i had setcpu installed with some settings, i already uninstalled it, i believe the settings were switched off , thats what i hope..
anyway , my battery is fully charged in 2 hours, is it normal ? it could be cracked, perfectly normal i guess. sometimes when im connected to wi-fi , it starts decreasing the battery level and i watch it lol, 71 , 70 , 69.... thats really strange in due that i see people using 2 days or 3 with normal usage. i believe that's nothing about the rom, im going to do that , im going to calibrate and wipe, text u as soon as possible to tell u the results
9unk, should i use the setcpu with those setting to save battery, im order to obligate te phone to use those settings, or should i just let it default ?
How did this survive in /dev
Also check any background processes.
My hero sometimes just drains like hell untill restart it (as I haven't found out which app yet) .
i believe there are no background apps , but if there is , how could i close it ?
Try calibrating your battery. VillainRom have a guide on it in their guides section.

i just want to note something, here you say you are fully charge in 2 hours, thats strange, mine are 4-5hours charge before its full.
in my experience with all is ON, i got 14 hours of battery life, this what i turn on:
- 3G Data is always on, no time schedule, it on all the time.
- Mail (3 account) and Gmail (1 account), (always on, with 15mnt refresh freq)
- Gtalk and Yahoo messenger (always on, cant live w/o it)
- LauncherPro Friends Widget (Facebook and Twitter, always on, with 15mnt refresh freq)
- Weather with Fancy Widget (always on, with 1hour refresh freq)
- Battery Widget
- Game NFS Shift 3D (15mnt a day, is a must, very love the game)
- Browsing (average 2 hours a day)
- and other normal process and background process (network location, contact sync, etc)
can you describe what is you use in your phone and please detail how much hours you get with your hero??
Mine was also draining like a hell , but i let it switch off for one day and now it works great . try that might it will help you
I had similar problems. Very frustrating indeed, but easily corrected.
Calibrate your battery using the above thread. Usually this takes a while, but sounds like it will be quick for you. Follow it closely and carefully.
Install setcpu and start with a conservative governor at 576/176. That alone should give you a day between charges. Play with these settings until you find something you're comfortable with.
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
about the screen, i have 5 screens, one has the calendar with my schedule dates, other has youtube and music app, the main one has beautiful widgets that only update 3 in 3 hours, the other has people widget and last one has just power control widget. I believe this is not too much, for instance i already calibrated my battery and look at my stats today :
Activity time : around 17h
apps tha use battery most :
display 41% (45m e 25s);
inactivity of the phone 18% ( 15h e 30 min )
inactived phone 16% (14h e 44 min )
Media Server 11% (14min e 53 s)
the best of this is when im texting there is nothing about the battery when i start to listen to music i can watch my battery drainly constantly, like 59,58,57 per minute sensivily. is there anyway that my battery is cracked or something ? or is just my settings ? i believe i have set all up to save power, i also set up my screen to minimum stats. another thing that i might let clear is that my phone really charges all up from 0 to 100 in 2 hours, really strange that sometime it stucks on 77 for instance other times is draining and draining and it kills me watching other people using 2 days battery with more apps than me
i dont know if this is important or not , my battery drains 6 % on rebooting , dont know if it is normal or not, but im totally sure , aint normal to got all the battery drain in 17 hours with normal using... please i appreciate any kind of help
If you had calibrated your battery, and if you already had uninstalled all the apps that drain your battery quickly, but still no improvements, I suggest you to try the following things:
_ Change rom (I had a lot of problems too with battery life on FroydVillain, I personally recommend Elelinux 6.2 RC, I got an amazing battery life)
_ Make sure you have Update your Radio to the latest version:
http://www.villainrom.co.uk/forum/s...adio-Roms-Download-Links&highlight=hero+radio
_ Try different Kernels, if you are currently overclocking your Phone, I use flykernel 12a, but the 11c is excellent as well for battery life
_ Use sometimes, not set it automatically, some task killer like Advanced task Killer Froyo from the market, to kill sometimes too many running apps.
Make sure to flash the new rom when your battery is full, then recalibrate it again like other suggest you already on this thread.
I personally notice that, when you calibrate your battery, takes a week or more to see improvements on the battery life, so be patient!
Its good as well to restart your new rom fews times to reach the full potential...
Then, when you set up your rom for the first time DISABLE google backup, I've been told that drains battery like hell, don't set the brightness on automatic mode, but just leave it as less as you can, it will helps.
It would be better also to go to setting, under sync, and leave on the automatic sync mode only for the apps that you really need to run..
If none of this will work, if you have can, I would think to buy a new battery, I checked in an official HTC store once and I found it at 30 pounds...
I don't think I have anymore suggestions, I hope it will help you...

To close an app or clear cache or data go to:
settings>applications>manage applications>running>
and choose the apps you want to close..
I found a major battery killer is an area with no reception.
So if I know I'll be there a while, I'll put my phone on airplane mode to stop it constantly scanning for a signal.
Today i really noticed something strange about battery, i let it charge when it was off. Ive turnee it on, browsed over the internet and it was stuck at 100 % for 30 minutes, than it decreased for 96 in 5 min..
i went to sleep ( turned wifi off ) 6 hours later it was in 77 % ;( and the best part, i reboot it and it get in 51 someone got a help

Updated from 2.2 to 2.2.1 now have Battery Issues :(

Hi all,
Basically a few days ago I updated the firmware via Kies from 2.2 to 2.2.1 on my Galaxy S. However, I instantly noticed a huge decrease in battery life - 50% gone overnight when in standby! So I factory reset the phone and had everything disabled - the phone only lost 10% in 24 hours. So I decided to try and eliminate the possible causes so first I turned on wifi and within 2 hours I have lost almost 30% of the battery life with no usage so wifi seems to be the culprit
In the wifi menu network notification is off, however, the device seems to be scanning for networks every 5-10 seconds even when connected! I had no problems like this on 2.2 where I could comfortably get 2 days usage with wifi on. Also as I would prefer wifi to be on constantly when connected I would prefer not to change the wifi sleep policy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Many thanks, and sorry if there's similar thread already
which version of 2.2 did you have before?
try a flash back and see what happens.
Or try to drain battery (do not charge till 1% or almost dead) then full charge it.
Always happen to me when I flash my phone to a new ROM.
Thanks for the replies. I've tried leaving the battery till it was almost drained but maybe I'll let it go completely flat and charge it see if that makes a difference?
Also trying juice defender from the market to see if that helps. Not sure if it is a problem with the firmware though been looking around and a few people seem to have had the problem with no real solution
Might have to go back to 2.2 but would prefer not to as I've noticed a big decrease in lag on 2.2.1. Also can't remember what version of 2.2 I had I'll see how the battery life goes over the next few days after trying a couple of drain/charging cycles hopefully won't have to downgrade it. Come on 2.3.2
Thanks for the replies so far
Battery Bug is Major issue with all the versions of 2.2.1, Battery life is very bad. Even the Browser is worst in 2.2.1. May be in 2.3 it will get fixed.
I have tested all the new releases of 2.2.1. I found its smooth and fast.

Very very bad idea to let the battery go completly flat, it's the best way to damage it and even lose 20% of his initial capacity. Never go under 10%.
To calibrate it properly, wait 10% turn off the phone, fully charge it, restart. (do it again 3 times).

The battery is calibrated to do this already, the charging circuit will not allow power to the device unless there is a certain amount of charge in the battery. It's there to protect the battery from this exact eventuality.

Blackstone Battery Problem %%%

Hello guys i havae some problem with my Blackstone i use it from 2.5 years and i never had problem like this so..
Now when i recharging my device always stay on same % for example even for 1 hour its show always 20% or 50% or anything depends when i put it on the charger..
After restart can show 100% full or anything.. so i found out that the indicator absolutly do not work so if i restart it and show me the real % for example 50% the device always will show 50% battery untill the battery is fully discharged..
And right now i dont know how much Batterry i have and when will need to recharge..
I don`t know but i think this is a battery problem? i use this battery from the begining i mean from more than 2.5 years and maybe is time to change it?! but this heppand when i drop my device once on the floor so do thee is posible by droping the device some senzor to be broken or this is not posible i mean its a battery problem and i will need to buy new one?! or give me some idea how to test this and fix it.
Now no matter that the indicator do not work i still can use my device 1-2 days with one charge even if always show 20% this mean that in the battery itself have power for 2 days conversation internet and etc.. but just do not shown right.
Do anyone of you had the same problem ? and how do you fix it?
Also im looking to buy battery from ebay and i found today this :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HTC-TOUCH-HD-...ultDomain_3&hash=item4aa9446824#ht_3230wt_905
What you think about this battery ? or can someone who already bought battery from ebay point me to get some good one
I read in the Diamond forum that peoples expirience the same problem with the indicator and even after Hard Reset or flashing new ROM the problem is still there.. so if this is right then i dont have reason to Flash again my device if the problem will be still here.
Any Suggestions?
Thanks
I did some tests... so i fully discharge the battery and i saw that even when the battery was on 0% and always the Warning appear i was able to play with the the Device with Wi Fi ON and Games and Music around 45 minutes wow.. this mean that the battery somehow was not calibratet and when its shows 0% in her still have around 30 40 % so after fully discharge the battery till the device Turn OFF by itself then few times turn it ON till there is not enought power even the WinMo to Startup i put it while OFF on the Charger and i was able to recharg to 100% and the light become green this mean the senzor itself work maybe just the battery need calibration again.
Now will see do the indicator work corectly after few more recharges and will write here for peoples who have the same problems in the future
...
hi dude, i think you should simply buy a new battery, but preferably an official htc battery - rather than the unofficial gold one you have posted a link to on ebay.
if you do decide to buy a new battery then put the new battery into your blackstone and charge while device is turned off.
this should fix your problem

Actually i think its not Battery die problem because i did some test and i see improvment my battery last at least 2-3 days with alot of usage wifi and etc so this is more than normal.. the problem was that the indicator do not work corectly and like i wrote above i discharge fully the battery till the device die and i saw that when my battery was on 0% i still play alot alot my device to swtich off this mean that befor when the indicator shows 0% its remain anorhter 30 40% power this heppand due to 2.5 years usage and i recharge the device when i have time not always when is fully without power and i think that this cause somehow a discalibration of the Li Ion so today when i did the trick i see improvments and now the indicator start to count ever single % so i think when i do this one or two more times the Battery will be calibratet and will show very corect how much Power i still have.
I think this way because if this battery was already died the device will not last 2-3 days with super usage.

Battery status indicator bug : are you affected ?

It seems to be a problem with the battery status indicator on the LG E900.
The battery is refreshed only when the device is wake up from standby.
To know if you're affected, simply note your current battery life in settings> energy saving, use the device non-stop for say 5 minutes and check it again. Note the value again, and put the phone in standby then wake it up and check the value again. If the value is the same, no problem. If the value has completly changed, you're impacted.
Based on the comments on different blogs, it seems to affect 8 out of 10 users.

I have this problem since NODO...I can't remember if it appeared before NODO...not a huge problem for me, but, it's a ridiculous problem for Microsoft: There is a battery icon, which takes some screen space, and it doesn't work. iPhone users laugh at Microsoft when they see problems like these, and they are right...it's stupid! MICROSOFT WAKE UP!
Please, if you're impacted, vote !
Hi guys,
Seems the bug is related to the battery, not the phone itself.
Indeed, I tried to change my battery with some I had in spare, and with one only, it's working fine.
I'll keep you informed of my tests
Edit : well, in fact it worked until the first full charge... got the bug again now.
Hi, i have this phone and i try the test...Yeap my phone is affected. One Question, this trouble is affected only in Mango update? Or stock firmware is affected too?
Thanks

It was there before Mango, but it was more difficult to analyse because we didn't have any precise status info. Now, in the settings, we've got the percent of remaining battery and t's how it make it easier to detect

Oh! True! Well...i think that LG (Or MS) should launch an app to calibrate the battery...like in Android. For all phones was launched with Windows Phone 7.0 stock
Well, new battery does not correct the bug...
It seems the bug disappeared, but it's back again. Can't pin the reason of this.
The bug is there even with the latest LG firmware which enables internet sharing - 1.0.16.10
I'm affected too. I hate what LG is doing with their firmware updates...so many strange version numbers. And this bug is annoying too. I'm happy I orderd my Lumia 800 just yesterday!
Yep, I just flashed my phone with the Open Europe firmware and you know what ? It still bugs ! So, I see only 2 explanations :
- it's hardware, and a huge amount of devices is touched
- it's software and caused by Zune (see below)
- it's software, and the people telling that they don't have the bug just didn't test it correctly, and they are in fact impacted by the bug
What do you think ? do you see other explanations ?
For a little reminder, here's what I've tested :
- change batteries (tried 4 different) : bug
- hard reset : bug
- change firmware (OPN_NLD/OPN_NEU/ORG_FR) : bug
It also seems that the bug happens when Zune is launched, as when I reboot, and don't touch Zune at all, the bug seems to disappear. Can you reproduce it too ?
OK, more news...
Last night I tried many scenarii to try to find what is causing the battery bug, and Zune seems not guilty... When I went to bed, the battery was working fine. After the whole night and a complete charge of the phone (from bedtime to wake-up), the battery was again bugged. So, what happened in the night that can cause the battery bug ? I think at two things :
- Wireless sync
- Full charge with a long time connected to the charger with the battery full
Now, I'm trying to cause the phone to sync wirelessly to know if this is the culprit, or if the long charge can be the problem.
Things are better with last update. 14h from 100% to 19%
Better but not what is awaited.
Bug with indicator still persists
Battery meter not efficient at all.
This bug is really tricky. Sometimes the gauge is working fine (say 10% of the time) and I can't find when it goes wrong...I tried many scenarii and none where bulletproof concerning the reliability of the gauge... Just hope LG can correct this, because it really is a good phone, and I can't find any replacement to it...
Well, the only thing I can ask you is to contact your local LG after sell service about this bug. Maybe if we're enough to ask about it, they'll correct it
I have the problem too. It appeared like a week after the mango update ("official", via zune). So I can't trace anything that may have triggered the problem.
I do not only have the battery status problem, but also the fast battery draining problem. But there are related to some extent, at least for me:
When I updated to mango, the phone would tell me that the battery would last for 1 day and 12 hours (or something like that). As soon as the battery status indicator bug appeared, when I fully recharge the phone and then unplug it, it will tell me that I have 20 hours left, and 22 with battery saver mode. If I use data connection moderately (on commute to home) and wi fi for a couple hours, it will last WAY longer than 22 hours. So basically, the estimated battery time is as wrong as the indicator and doesn't accurately estimate the remaining time. A friend has a LG C900 and he's definitely not having that problem after mango.
this problem doesn't come with mango. I've it all the time since novembre 2010. But with the new battery saver mode, it's easier to "see" it because you have the exact percentage of battery remaining... Let's send massive complaint to LG customer service
Tested this without incident. Showed 97%, played Doodle Jump for 5 months and showed 95%. Put it in standby and afterwards it read 94%, which I take as being acceptable variation.
Perhaps it's dependent on firmware rather than Mango? I'm running 1.0.4.10 FWIW.

Talking seriously, I don't think it's related with mango, but firmware, as some people have reported having the issue before the update.

Note 4 battery problem after flashing some custom roms

Hi everyone, i have problem with my note 4, battery drops from 11 % to 3% very fast and charges after 85% very slow.. this problems started 2 days ago when i flashed dn5 custom rom i thought it was rom problem and flashed sixperience rom but still i have same issue also i tried battery calibration but again.... what can i do???? and my screen on time is only 3 hour. please help me, thanks.
Have you checked what's eating away at your battery? Settings => Battery (Here you should be able to see if anything is causing a drain).
If the settings screen doesn't seem to show anything, you could try BetterBatteryStats (This app will be able to tell you everything that's going on regarding running processes, wakelocks,... You should give it a day or so from a fully charged battery.)
And if even BBS doesn't show anything, I'd flash the stock firmware again (And check if it isn't the battery).

Well, in all fairness, mine is running CM 12.1, and SOT is a bit under 4hrs. Which isn't fantastic either. Quickcharge does slow down a bit after a certain percentage. You could try a new battery, but might be a waste of money.
I'm afraid I can't help you any further, maybe someone else can.

I am facing exactly the same problem .. I don't think buying a new battery will solve this problem.
My mobile is charging by AC very very slow and sometimes it stuck at certain percentage for hours and I tried many things but I am still facing this problem... While recharging if I removed the battery and put it again, the phone shows me that it is 100% while it was not 100% at all.
I wish someone can help us about this problem or if any of u guys tried a new battery and the problem has been solved, so please feed us back in here

well after 3 4 days (i mean after flashing sixperience rom) everything is ok. discharge to 0% then wait and full charge + calibrate battery may fix issue. but still dont like screen on time. only up to 3.5 4 hours
That sounds weard...
I mean the good thing is we could change the battery.
I have a feeling this is not battery issue. it's exynos + apps running on the background. Try to root + disable unnecessary apps (maybe Android 4.4 Would give you higher SOT). I had Note 3 previously and SOT was at the level of around 6 hrs (snap processor) - now on exynos it's around 4 hrs on stock firmware (5.1.1).
