HELP!! US HD2 can only swype one word at a time. - HD2 General

i just got my a hd2 from tmobile yesterday. im very happy with it beside when i try swype, i can only swype one word at a time.
when i try to type with swype the word only comes out when i let go of the screen. no matter what i do the second word won't show up. i played around with the settings, master reset the phone, i even try install a few different swype cab that i found here. nothing works. i made sure the auto space in the setting is on. can someone please help me?

You have to release the screen? how else will it know the word is ending?

yea, you gotta release, no second word. I found it also speeds things up overall to tap 2 letter words.

So you want to type the entire message without removing your finger from the screen between words? Think about that for a second...

I thought you can keep swyping with out letting go of the screen and it will auto space for you

it auto spaces when you swype the next word

when i swype "whereareyou" nothing will come up I have to swype "where" let go and swype "are" then let go and so on
I thought you can swype the whole sentence without letting go and it will auto space between word for you. thats what I saw in the video

isn't that the way it's always been?

i cant do that!!

You obviously didn't pay attention while watching the video . Watch the first video from here http://www.swypeinc.com/tips-tricks.html and it clearly shows that you swype one word at a time. Swype would need to be a hell of a lot more sophisticated to do full sentences in one go, may be in the future it will be able to do this but not now.

Ya, you can't cause you're not suppose to. That's not how swype was ever meant to work. It's suppose to be one word at a time.

I doubt it...with the error-correcting that it so beautifully uses now, whole sentences would definitely not be selected accurately.
To Swype whole sentences in one go, they'd have to take out the forgiving error-correcting, which would necessitate more accurate Swyping, which would slow you down, which would make Swyping whole sentences not worth it.
Lifting your finger [off the screen] isn't hard.

SMS and Swype

Apologies if this is a known issue but I have just spent 30 minutes searching and cannot find it.
When creating a new SMS message, if I start typing a name using Swype then no automatic look up is taking place, however if I backspace the last character typed, then the matching contact names appear. I have no problems when using the standard keyboard. (I do not think this is related to the known Swype and loading messages issue)
I have had issues with SMS on my Leo. To me, it seems to be related to the amount of previous messages you have for that person. For some odd reason it wants to try and load the whole thread before letting you type. Once you get to about 300 or so in the thread, it really slows things down.
Then again, i'm new to Winmo and phone hacking so I do not have any mem tweaks yet that could help with that issue.
So, if anyone knows... let us know!
Known swype issue mate, I have not found a fix, always delete the last character as you have done.
its not a known issue its something htc programmed it to do. its meant to only bring up with a few letters but if you know the whole name then it should automatically add the number. does it for mine just type the first few letters and they should show up
@op, yea, swype does that here too.

with swype, though? we know it comes up with other keyboards, but it doesnt with swype till you delete a letter.
Are you missing the OP's point, or am i missunderstanding your post?
Am i the only one that gets a fair amount of delay sometimes in SMS with swype? Just entering text in a message can sometimes cause the keyboard to stop working, it onyl effects swype and eventually (about 10sec) all is fine again.
Thinking of going back to the normal keyboard because of this issue
yep, and in landscape, just dont bother, hehe.
I generally switch to phonepad for txt's tho, so it's not an issue. (Doesnt seem to lag when doing other stuff, posting to here, for instance.)
Any way to prevent or even have the texts in a thread preloaded or something to fix the load-lag in sms? My screen locks until all of the texts are finished loading. Many times i can start texting and it will catch up, but not always.
Prob the most annoying thing i've come across so far..

Swype sucks

Is it just me or are you guys also realizing that swype is absolutely horrible on the htc aria. The aria has too small of a screen to be able to use swype well. Whenever I drag my finger to the next letter i cant see if im on that letter because my finger is over it and the screen is so small.
Just wondering what you guys thought about swype on the aria
Love it on the Aria. I am used to the small screen though, from my htc magic.

its not bad... i had it on my htc pure and the screen was also small, but i had a stylus on that which made things a lot easier.
I see what you're talking about. Fortunately I know where the keys are without seeing them so this isn't really a problem for me.
Love Swype on Aria, the point of using Swype is you don't need to look at the keyboard to type fast, which means you do need to know the position of the keys. I don't think it will make much different with a bigger screen since my thumb will still cover the keys I'm trying to type.
My only complaint about Swype is that you give up the voice-type feature when you use it. They really ought to reincorporate that feature, since it's nice to be able to take notes when I'm mumble, mumble, COUGH driving COUGH.
There. Now I've gone and done it. I've made Oprah hate me.

Corporate Dog
EDIT: Oh. I forgot. I actually have TWO complaints.
I HATE how the recommended words pop-up is implemented. If I'm typing 'Bioware', and Swype recommends 'beware', I'd prefer it if my closing of the pop-up meant, "No. I don't care for any of your suggestions. Keep what I typed, as I typed it." rather than, "Accept the top recommendation."
I know there's a user dictionary in my phone, and I've certainly added to it, but I'm constantly using non-standard words.
They put the microphone back in the latest beta, which they closed like 3 days after they opened it.

Same here.
It does get annoying from time to time, but I find it much easier than the standard keyboard. Especially when typing ridiculously long words which swype seems to pick up without a hitch.
Yea, I find the lack of a microphone shortcut annoying, too. Since I use Swype with my index finger, I don't really have a problem with the screen being too small. Swype is supposed to be able to correct for errors, anyways, but I have seen the correction fail at times. Swype is still more accurate than voice, anyways, and you can always resort to typing it out if Swype doesn't recognize it, which I think makes it better than voice. It would be amazing if voice worked perfectly, though, I'd never have to type again.

Help with swype

Is there any way to delete words from the swype dictionary because there are a bunch of typos swype makes with certain words for me like whenever I try to input the word you I get thou.

Type the mispelled word, highlight it and touch the swype symbol.
DK28 Swype is not that good DI18 isway better at predicting words without givimg you 4 word choices.

Sorry, just reread the post, I don't think that will work with legit words...
from what i have learned any words that are added you type the word such as (anf) should be and. then tap the swype key twice and it says to delete the word.

That only works if it's a word you yourself added to the swype dictionary. I have the same problem as the OP, in that there are a bunch of pre-programmed words that pop up a lot even though I never use them and I would like to get rid of them because they block the real word I want from coming straight through. I do not know any way to get rid of these, but maybe someone responding will.
Another option is to go into the swype settings and change the speed versus accuracy settings.

I have found that on the Froyo.zip my swype is less accurate then it was on the Eclair it came with. I am also rooted and have backup with titanium backup and clockwork, and also have no GPS aswell. SInce there seems to be no real froyo release out there ive stuck with it, but i get glitches all the time. I do love the features FROYO brings that i have just dealt with the glitches, temporarily. I may have to do a clean wipe and then reload

Gingerbread keyboard not autocorrecting/predicting

So when i had my stock htc keyboard befote i rooted i loved it. It knew what i meant to type, made the correct suggestions and the most accurate autocorrects. Then i flashed the gb keyboard when i was using warm. It was a big step down in terms of prediction and auto correct but still worked. However now that i am actually on a gb rom, evokings gb v8 (evervolv), everything has just stopped working and its driving me NUTS. it doesnt auto correct, doesnt predict and fimish my words for me, doesnt input a period after two spaces. Let me give you some examples. If i accisentally type looj, why the hell wouldnt it turm that into look? Note the above errors in that sentence that i didnt even mean to type that it shpuld have easily corrwcted. Before when i typed prob, it would turn that into probably as soon as i hit the space bar. Also it would do punctuation ofr me, like turning doeant into doesn't. I have double checked all my keyboard settings. Its taking me like 3 times longer now to type a mesaage because i have to go back and correct all the minor errors. What changed and why doeant the keyboard work how it should? Somebody please help me out

Did you manage to get around this issue? Have the same problem on my desire. And to make matters worse my typing seems to be getting worse with every passing minute :-( it is becoming practically impossible to type in portrait mode. Is there a keyboard recalibration setting somewhere?
from XDA App on HTC Desire running CyanogenMod-7.1.0-RC1-Desire
I've switched to go keyboard. It's doing a decent job but don't know how safe it is to use this keyboard. It can record key strokes and there arent too many reviews either

Does this only occur in the browser?

[Q] Double Letters on Gingerbread Keyboard?

So I searched and couldn't find a direct answer basically here it goes,
I'm using CM7 and the gingerbread keyboard that comes stock. This has been happening since alpha and it slows down my texting. I'm a big texter, and I send about 25-35 thousand texts a month. So I need this to be fixed!
What happens, is that when I'm normally texting sometimes letters will automatically type themselves twice. Such as if I'm texting the word "always" it will usually come out as "aalways" and it looks dumb. I love the gingerbread keyboard but I might have to result in using another keyboard if this continues!(Does this drain battery life?) I don't want to use swype.
If there's a fix let me know! And I checked for a calibration setting and couldn't find one :/
Also happens to me. I just go back and fix it. It's not a HUGE problem, but it's there.
Happens to me also. I Googled it to make sure I'm not the only one. I was starting to think I had the beginning signs of Parkinsons. It's good to know I'm not the only one.
I've also noticed that there are times when the auto-suggest does not work. If you stop typing for a few seconds it comes back. And I've also had a problem with the keyboard not responding as fast I am typing and I have to slow down so it can keep up.
Did you try downloading a different keyboard from the market?
Yeah I'm actually using a downloaded gingerbread keyboard from the market. It just happens often enough to slow down my texting.
myTouch4G+Custom ROM
Yes, this is a frustrating reoccurring issue. Sometimes it'll even give you double letters of two of the first letters in a word, for example, "like ththis." It's especially ridiculous when it happens to only two letter words, like "to" for example, which results in "I'm going toto the movies."
I've filed a report with Google, so please visit the link and star and add your own testimony if you wish. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14755
I even made a video demonstrating the problem to show Google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUZdvr6Pdjk
Smart Keyboard Pro was my solution. Got tired of always getting "toto" when I type "to." And I also always get the doubt first letter on the word.
I'm on an epic 4g and I have this problem also. If you turn on the language packs when you push space bar and a quickly it wont register the "a". This problem doesn't occur nearly as often when typing with the language packs off. Just another thing to add to the complaint ;-)
