MTC Magic - Hero or Donut - Android Software Development

Hi guys,
Hope this is the right place to post!
I have a Vodfaone Magic and have loaded the Hero ROM. It's a little slow and I was thinking of loading 1.6 Donut onto the phine instead.
I was wandering if the Donut had the same facebook integration in the contact list like the hero rom does?
Also wanted to know if there are and pros/cons of moving from hero to donut?
Cheers guys!

no, facebook thingy is only for senseui and android 2.0 right now. the only major difference between senseui and a regular 1.6 rom is the text to speech services. otherwise, i would stay with hero if you like all of finesse and whatnot.

[Question] ROM Flashing - effect on market ect.

Good day,
Sorry sorry sorry in advanced if this has been asked before.
I did not find it using the search (the search does not like me)
I used to have windows mobile phones.
And i flashed roms every week.
but on my android, i have done nothing yet.
Because i am pretty happy with it the way it is.
the only thing at this moment i can think of what would be nice, if is it would be a little bit faster.
So i,m just wondering.
If i flash a different rom.
What will change for me.
I read that there are different roms that differ in the "Google experience"
So what will happen for me in the android market, will i have it, and will i see the same apps i am seeing now.
What are the other advantages of flashing?
I don't want to end up with a rom that does not give me what i gave now + more.
so basically... is it worth it?
i have the B version.
htc magic from vodafone Netherlands.
This is what I know:
After get the root and flash, you will have everything has normally you have with the exception of the updates for android (for example, if you root, I think you will not have the option to update the android cupkake to donut) but most probably that you will be able to update it any way using the info in the forum...
From that, market and everything will work exactally the same as it's working for you right now...
The other difference will be the "the google experience"... There are actually 2 kind of Magics (Sapphires) devices... the "vodafone" one (google experience) and the HTC one (just HTC experience xD)...
The main difference is that the vodafone one has less ram than the htc (192 against 288 or something like that) and the vodafone uses only the android that google gives you, instead, the HTC one will have the HTC Sense (the same desktop that is using the HTC Hero right now) and you will be able to use the donut as well...
So I think the main advantage goes to the HTC Magic (HTC Magic is 32A, the Vodafone one is 32B board)...
I have rooted my phone (HTC Magic 32A) and I'm able to use any 32A rom I like and I have everything enabled (market, google maps, etc...)
It works like a charm =D...
PD: sorry if my english is not so good, I speak spanish and even I can understand english sometimes I can't write it or speak it very well...

Wanted: Contacts from Hero Sense W/O the LAG

*** Wanted: Contacts from Hero Sense W/O the LAG ***
I am looking for a ROM that is ZIPPY like the Donut builds... but has the Contacts Manager / DialPad from the 1.33 Hero Builds.
"Sense" is just too laggy on this old phone for me.
I have turned it off for now, but is there a better option?
Are there any other builds that have the HTC Sense Contacts/Dialer without the rest of the Sense interface?
DON'T GET ME WRONG.... I LOVE THE SENSE INTERFACE!!!.....
It is just very laggy on my phone (running from SD card) and I get frustrated waiting 5-10 seconds for APPs to respond.
Any thoughts?
bumpity bump
HTC Contacts is a closed source development, people haven't found way to make it compatible with AOSP/ION builds. Hence, no soup for you.

Help me choose a ROM

Hi
I have a rooted HTC Hero (from Telus, Canada)
I installed Villainrom 10.3.2, but I don't like Sense that much, so I tought of changing to a vanilla ROM. Especially, I would like to have the application "contact" instead of "people" and the vanilla google phone. I don't care that much about facebook integration and I don't tweet. I simply want something fast and usable.
I can't figure what the main differences between ezHero and VanillaEclair are? Which one is more popular? I saw there is also SuperHero which is supposed to be a mix of sense and vanilla.
Any recommendation?
I also have telus hero,i use ezhero, I've gone though them all, love vanilla roms this is the best I've come across... If you don't like android keyboard, swype and htc_ime keyboards can be found with a quick google search
Sent from my EzHero using XDA App
thanks
I tried it and it works well so far.
Only downside, when I select the French Canada locale, the keyboard is in AZERTY mode (as most French speakers use, but we in Canada use QWERTY).
But I don't know any ROM which has it fine, except the original canadian ROMs.
I found a workarround: install the anykeyboard app.
Next thing I would like to know, is there a way, when changing of ROM, to do not loose all my settings and installed apps?
I heard that ez hero is fabulous!
what is the most vanilla ROM? I prefer adding apps myself, most ROMS here seems to be really customized and it seems to add bugs.

Clean ROM

Hello I am looking for a ROM that does not come with any pre-installed apps apart from HTC sense (Does HTC Sense include the facebook, twitter and youtube integration?).
I want to do this because im having a lot of trouble with my devices internet connectivity on certain programs and battery drains very fast.
My phone is a HD2 LEO T8585, running ROM version 1.43 and Radio 2.04
Thanks
go to the rom development and read their description for every rom and what they have and you will find what you need.

That sounds a bit closer to a radio-rom problem.... Try a different radio.
But, if you do want to change ROMs, it's up to you to decide what ROM you want. The CleanEx Series (the Core/Ultra, specifically) might be something you want.
Hi there!
There are a lot of good roms out there in the Rom Development Thread from our great chefs here in XDA.
But if you want you can try to help in beta testing a fresh customized rom. Check the link in my siggy. I haven't done any visual customization yet and added some apps. Just the basic shipped rom but made faster and improve battery consumption.
Thanks and Regards,
Pongskie

[Q] HTC Sense

Hi guys! sorry if this has already been posted, but i really cant find the answer anywhere, and im a heavy reader of the forum.
Is there any way to install HTC Sense by myself on a "no sense" android version?
i know most u guys hate sense, but i find it quite usefull, as it brings a good calendar widget (full screen syncronised with google calendar), the people widget (that syncronises with facebook app automatically) and friendstream (which i like a lot to keep me posted with news, people and tweets updates).
The reason why i dont just install an android version with htc sense already on, is cos i have noticed that all versions with sense, have the camera limited to 3mpx, but the ones running froyo 2.2 can be set at 5 mpx.
sorry if the question has an obvious answer that i couldnt figure out myself.
I'm looking find a solution for this too. I've tried to use some .apk files under /system/app from Desire ported rom but it doesn't work under Nexus One based roms
MattC version includes two cameras 2&5MP
HD2 Energy Cookies ROM, 2.10.50, MattC sense
Sense requires different framework.res and a few other things. It has to be a sense rom to start.(I understand its a major ordeal to add to nonsense rom). So in short it can't be just installed. Hope this helps.
