Just got my Touch today... already froze it up completely. - Touch CDMA General

How do you perform a hard-reset on the Vogue without actually using the software on the device? Is there a button combination that will hard-reset it because I installed batterystatus and for whatever reason, it is completely locked up and will not even load completely on boot up.
Thanks guys.
EDIT:: Nevermind. I figured it out. Thanks anyways

Hold down the SEND and END keys while inserting your stylus into the Gatesanus (that would be the re-set hole). When the screen comes up just follow the on-screen instructions...
EDIT: Sorry, I missed your edit first time around. But at least I got to say "Gatesanus".

Haha thanks man. Funny by the way. lol

I had the same thing happen to me. It says on battery status home site that if that happens reset like 9-11 times and it will start up. I could not reset so I would pull out the battery, let it load freeze then pull battery again. I did this about 9 times and It finally started with battery status not turned on and I uninstalled without having to do hard reset and lose all info on device. On a side note battery plus is a good program that does run on the vogue.

Help!! Tmobile Wing Dead!

Hi,
Yesterday, all of a sudden, my Tmobile Wing started vibrating and it wouldn't stop. I took a look at it and the front two lights displayed red and blue during this vibration episode. The only way I could stop it was by taking the battery out. After reinstalling it, I did a soft boot and it turned back on and worked perfectly fine for about eight more hours. Then, last night, it started vibrating again on it's own so I did the same exact thing as earlier in the day.
This time, it did not respond to a soft boot. It won't respond to a hard boot either. It won't take a charge (or at register it's taking a charge). Nothing!
The only thing that displays is a little BLUE light on the keyboard where it says, ALT. If I remove the battery, the light goes out. Once I insert the battery again, the blue Alt light goes back on. The phone is completely dead otherwise.
I have not done any hacks, updates, changes whatsoever. It didn't get wet and was not dropped.
Any possible ideas what the little blue light is supposed to mean? It's got to be some kind of service code or something? I'm pretty sure the battery still has a charge, but I haven't tried a new one. I even tried the plugging in the AC adapter and the phone still wouldn't respond at all. Is there any reason to think the computer would recognize it with the USB cable when it won't even power up?
Any solutions or where to turn with this thing? I think the little blue ALT light must signify some error code possibly......
Thanks.
it's the ALT key..
so you can input the blue characters on the keyboard.
you're phone is possessed.. sorry
can it go into bootloader mode(hold camera key and pole hole on side)?
if it can just flash a new rom into it or the original tmobile stock rom.
Have you hard-resetted your phone?
Which ROM are you using?
mv3, the answers to your questions.

what cube did you install?
well install ftouchflo config by schaps and enable ftouchflo
i suggest you uninstall your cube and install slithers cube here.
then either get ftouchflo config or get the _ftouchflo_config.txt file from the windows folder and make the down-up gesture to be slithers cube.

uhmm...no.
hard boot does not = hard-reset.
boot = to load your device.
there's no such thing as a hard boot or is there?
i assumed this person meant a power cycle..because if the device is not booting even after performing a hard reset command via hardware keys..blablablah..
saying you have a wing does not mention which of the stock ROMs is on the device.
so yeah... my questions werent answered.. :/

I might be using the words 'reboot' and 'reset' interchangeably (incorrect or not). What I have attempted to do is a soft reset by depressing the little hole by the volume control. This is what worked the first time for me. The phone will NOT respond to that now.
In attempting a hard reset, I pressed the two buttons on the front marked with a '-' at the same time as depressing the same hole. Nothing responds to this at all. Is this the corrrect procedure for a factory reset?
I'm not sure the exact ROM installed. I have not changed it at all since the phone was purchased, so it's original. Since the phone doesn't even work now, doesn't seem like I can find out the ROM version.

continue holding the 2 soft keys, don't release. a warning should appear.. if you press the 'Send' key... the send call/talk/etc button.. then it should initiate a dealer specified ("hard")reset.. if you press any other buttons, it will ignore the attempted hard reset.
if that doesn't happen.. then that's very uncool....
Well, after trying just about everything, I've pretty much accepted there's got to be some sort of 'short' to the motherboard. I think the ALT light constantly on signifies the phone thinks that key is indefinitely in a depressed state. Or something like that...........
same thing happened to my phone. does anyone know if there's a known fix for this?

x7501 trouble with wake-up.

I just got my advantage a couple of days ago. i haven't had much time to use it yet, because of work. i haven't installed any sofware. Sometimes my device simpy won't wake-up. After soft feset, the only thing i did was connect a bluetooth headset, which worked fine. I turned off the screen, and when i came back to my device, about two hours later, it would not wake-up. I had to soft reset. This has happened a few times. Also, its very slow with entering text (When i finished typing the word 'text', 'soft reset' was just being entered on the screen.) It would be worse, but i stop to let it catch up, and check for typos.
It is really annoying to buy a new device and have to put up with this crap. Any help is appreciated.
If it were me, I would try a 'Hard Reset' and if that did not clear up the problem, call HTC for a warranty replacement. Hard Reset is hold the volume slider down while clicking the reset button on back of the device.
Brad Miter
I'm not having the issues with it not waking up, but recently I've had the issues with randomly occuring extreme slowdown, similar slow text entry, quick battery run down and insanely slow screen redrawing and general responsiveness to hardware of screen based input. I've tried soft resets, hard resets, trying to isolate software that might be causing it. So far it seems that the Illiumsoft Newsbreak feed reader I had been using for months without issue might be related to the problem, but I'm wondering if the problem isn't software specific but actually just related to data downloading activity. Thus far, I'm a couple days in without Newsbreak and no occurances of the problem...
Have you tried tapping the button on the lower right side of the phone (power button) sometimes mine does the same thing, good luck...TJ
i am going to hard reset, but with no software installed i dont know that this will help. i am considering switching to the (whats it called, black touch) rom. i dont know f this will help my current issue, but it sure looks nice. on all of my previous devices, i've always used the factory rom, and i'm somewhat clueless and intimidated by the whole process. I just dont want to screw up my new device. if anyone can help with any of these issues, please do.

Concerning the warranty replacement, i bought this from a guy on ebay. It was still in the sealed box with compusa sticker on it, but i'm not sure if the warranty is transferable. Maybe if i could get him to send his receipt I would covered at least from his date of purchase. Anyone know specifics about the manufacturers warranty?

Perhaps you could help me fix that problem by telling me how to install the black touch rom without screwing it up.
I'm obviously no developer, nor expert in any type of computer skills. I come to this forum because I love the device, my issues are usually resolved after some discussion here, the people are mostly friendly, and i'm interested in making my device better. I just need some help to do so.

If you press the power quickly and lightly it should come back to
standard Today screen versus pressing and holding which brings up
the power off "pop up",at least that how my 7501 responds.
You may want to try that hard reset then play with Start/Settings
/System/Power.

i understand that the buttons respond differently depending on how you press them (press and release, press and hold, etc.) The problem is sometimes, usually when i'm working and away from my phone for awhile, the device simply won't wake-up (power button or any other button pressed in anyway does nothing.) after a soft reset eveything seems fine. this has probably happened 4-5 times in 3 days. After hard reset its only happened once.
Sometimes my device doesn't seem to respond when i plug in the charger, nothing lights up. I've also noticed everytime i check .the battery meter, its alway a denomination of 10 (10%, 20%, 30%). I was sure this was going to be a great device, but i'm beginning to have my doubts.

I had experienced this before but it is so rare that it's hardly worth mentioning. Are you using WM5 or WM6?
It is normal that the battery strength shows in increment of 10%.
If hard reset does not solve the problem, I would try to re-flash the ROM and see if the problem goes away.

Leo won't boot anymore

Hi everybody!
Just got my Leo two days ago and I was bombed. Had a 4350 before and you can imagine what big a difference that is. But now this occured and I really don't know what the heck is going on here. Without any reason the Leo froze after not using it for two hours, just an active sync connec. So I grabbed it and it was frozen. Thus i did a soft reset. When it rebooted, for some reason it seemed like the first time I started the device, asked me for the time and google settings etc. Very confused. But then I came to the Homescreen, which was blank, just like after a hard reset. Ok, I thought. This is nasty but all my stuff was backed up, so what. I tried to switch to the settings panel and found it ultra super slow and the settings panel wouldn't even appear on the screen, just the title on top. I thought, this is wrong, very wrong and decieded for another soft reset. And now it won't boot at all. It stands still in the screen where it shows this pink circle and the RUU and whatnot version.
I am speechless. It just doesn't start, tried it like 4 times now. I didn't update RUU or anything since this thing is T-Mobile branded and it wouldn't let me. I tried it this morning but just got the error in windows that my device won't allow... After that I took it for a 3 hour ride outside and used it for like 10 more hours. And now this!
Has this ever occured to anyone else around here?
Any suggestions? I'm quiet angry right now, think I gonna return it tomorrow. Hopefully they don't say I tried to flash it or whatever since I did not. Cannot explain this to me.
Regards,
Zoimt
hi sounds like bad news have you tried a hard reset
Do a hard reset, press the up and down volume then at the same time press the power button. Keep all three pressed for about three seconds and a hard reset will start. If it happens again you have a faulty device.
I thought a hard reset is only possible in windows. Since I never come so far in booting process, I just tried it once but nothing happend. Not sure if I tried it for 3 seconds I assume I did

Take the battery out then put it back in. Once it's in press all three buttons at once until you see the hard reset begin. It will ask you to confirm by pressing the up volume button.
Oh boy! It started again! I thought I tried to hard reset it with the key combo you also adviced me and nothing happened but this time it worked. Thus I assumed it only works at a later point in the boot process. But thanks for showing me the opposite!
Man, this takes a load off my mind, thanks! Just hope this was a one time thingy and doesn't occur every 28 hours again.

Whats the point in the reset button

Now that HTC have located the reset button under the battery cover whats the point in it anymore. If the covers off you may as well yank the battery out than spend 10 minutes looking for a suitable pen etc to press the little bugger with.....
Just my 2 pence worth!!!!

If you want to soft-reset the device - just hold the power button,
then select "Power Off".
Tap the power button again - and - the device had soft-resetted.
It the device is hung - well, that's a different story,
as you said - just pop the battery, and you're set.
Bad idea to hide reset point. Window mobile sucks a lot, and everyday I need open the battery cache. Just boring.
Is a simple power cycle (power off/on) the exact same thing as a soft reset?
I always thought they were different for some reason?
They are not different. Only sometimes you can't use power off, for example if the device is stuck.

I can't imagine what you are doing if you have to soft reset like this every day but I wouldn't blame it on Windows Mobile. I think I've had to pop the battery maybe twice in the last month and I know that it was my fault at least one of those times.
Agreed. Although so far the only thing I've had that needs it is when the lock-screen decides not to accept my PIN. But how long until the battery cover no longer stays in place?
Strange.. Never had to make a reset yet. Still havent crashed on me not only once. Am I blessed? lol
Yes if I need to do it the buttin is not on the best spot but for me it is working like a charm!
I had few hangups trying different CorePlayer output devices. Also had to reset few times because of problems with lock screen (could not unlock).
But all-around, HD2 is pretty stable for WM device.
If spare back-plates become readily available, and don't cost too much, I might drill a hole in mine so that a paperclip could hit the reset button without pulling the back off every time. Given the location of the reset button, it almost feels like this hole should already exist.
Due to a crash caused by putting the phone in standby while closing down igo8, i had to reset my device to make it work again.
I didnt had a pencil close by so i just pulled the battery out. When i booted it again it seems manilla became corrupted and restored itself (like after a hard-reset). I needed to fill in my details in manilla just like after a hard reset. So some information was lost, but the storage on the phone was still there. But for example i needed to install cf3.5 again and all the apps asked if they are verified before i could start them again.
I wonder if this problem occured because i pulled the battery instead of pushing the reset button? ANyway this is a pain in the ass bug but as far as i can tell im the only one with this problem so far...
Well, I think HTC chose to hide the soft rest button right next to the battery becuase of two reasons:
1. You don't have the chance to accidentally press that button. BTW: I have never accidentally pressed the soft rest button on my P4350...
2. If they hadn't built in such a button, everyone here qould be bragging and nagging that there is no such button, and you'd always have to "pull the plug" ie. the battery, which would of course be harmful for the battery etc. pp.

Design over function, I think...
The reset button should be recessed into the lower SIDE of the phone, next to the usb and earphone ports. Having to remove the battery cover just negates the need for the button, period.

Until the battery cover no longer stays on because the plastic tabs in the phone body have been worn because they forgot to put a small hole in the battery cover to reach the reset button.

Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do?

Just as i said - Argh! The screen is no longer responsive. What to do? I can no longer slide the lock across the screen. i have tried to flash the ROM with the 1.66 official but i cannot because it tells me to unlock the phone. I cant! argh! I've pushed the little red button by the battery a couple of times as well as removed the battery. Any suggestions? The hard buttons allow me to answer a call but that's it. i recently turned on the lock for the phone (today in fact) but I've unlocked it several times since doing so before this happened.
Sounds familiar...
Sounds like it is the same problem I had, as well as a few others on this forum. Even after a hard reset, it still didn't work. According to other people here, the solution is to have the screen swopped out for a new one. I've actually just sent mine in today to get it sorted out.
Just curious - I've got a suspicion that environmental conditions may have a role to play in causing the failure. What is the weather in your area like?
Very nice here today. Sunny, mid 50s(f).
I bought this off of ebay. Do i just send it in to HTC?
Try a hard reset, and if it doesn't help then make sure you have an official ROM and send it to HTC.

I would really like to wipe it before i sent it in. i dont want all my info, etc going into someones hands i dont know. anyway to do that?
No, that's a soft reset. Hard reset is pressing the red button while holding both volume keys until you get the "Restore factory settings?" prompt (when the device is on), then following the onsceeen instructions. This is what you're looking for to erase everything, including any possible software bug that could have caused the issue.
If the touchscreen still doesn't work then, send it in.

No! A hard reset is:
- Turn phone off
- Press vol up and down at the same time and then press power button (hold vol)
- follow the instructions on the screen
Be aware, that all you data on the phone will get lost. I recommend taking out the SD for that as well. After that u r done. By what you say i assume, that you didnt flash a custom ROM yet, right ?
Thanks! that didnt work either though.
I just want my money back now honestly. This thing, as pretty as it is, is just too much trouble.
Sorry double post...
A faulty device can happen to anybody, just bad luck... can't count how many times it has happened to me as well in the past.
I heard that there is a batch of phones that have a faulty screen, other problems are that without pressing anything the phone still registers clicks, phone doesn't always detect the correct place of where you pressed and the screen not responding.
I have got this on my phone and have arranged a pick up from HTC to pick up my phone for repair, hopefully in a week or two it will come back with a brand new screen that works
Ive had it a couple of months now. Im not sure if i can deal with the lack of apps that my iPhone has, pandora and the like, and the fact that teh HD2 would every so often change time and even date and i cant get weather in places my iPhone can.
In short, i love the HD2 for its specs but i no longer trust it at all.
