I was on the Dopod AUS site earlier and noticed that along with a number of other Apps & Games that Dopod have released a version of Blackberry Connect 4.0 for PPC along with the ActiveSync BBConnect Desktop Setup application.
I dont use it myself but as i have only seen version 2.x around here i thought i would upload it so someone could check it out. The files included in the zip file are:
ActiveSync_BBConnect_Desktop_Setup_4.0.0.17.exe
bbconnect_pocketpc_bb_4[1].0.0.67.cab
bbconnect_pocketpc_bb_4[1].0.0.67.exe
BBCWM Quick Start Provisioning Guide.pdf
BlackBerry Connect 4.0 ppc user guide english.pdf
They do also specifically mention its for WM5 however with their WM6 release pending who knows it may work on WM6 as well. Heres the link to download from Megaupload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GBSZ8FQH
Filesize: 24.19 MB
Cheers!
(and yes i know i misspelled Dopod in the title but it wouldnt let me go back and edit the post title :S)
thanks a lot for posting this one....yummy...going to try it on my 8525
Its very kind of you to share this. I am downloading it now. I thought that the Nokia E90 would be the first device to use BBC 4 but looks like Dopod beat them to it. Will install in on my Dopod 838 pro. They have not post it on the Asia site. Glad you manage to download it first as it may have been accidently been leaked. Lets see what BBC 4 have in store.
Once again thank you very much.
works on black 2.0
Well, I just installed on my 8525 running Black 2.0 WM6 version (I am on Cingular USA)....It seems to work fine with my BES and BIS emails...I love that it now syncs contacts, tasks and notes as well....Great!
Can't get the client to connect on Treo 750.
Any suggestions?
I called Cingular and told them I wanted Blackberry connect.
YES! Finally. REAL Blackberry on the PPC. I'm using mine with WM6 Black 2.0 and it works perfectly! Sync Contacts, Tasks and Notes now along with being able to do Enterprise Activation! Now I have no need to keep my RIM device around!
pin to pin
i imagine there still is no pin to pin yet so not really quite bb yet but gettin there, needs pin 2 pin then will be complete. but then maybe there is i could only hope.
This only works with blackberry sim and data plan right??

So besides the ability for our coporate Lotus Notes / BES admins to enforce policies, make me enter password every hour, shut my PPC down , enterprise activation, syncing contacts, tasks and notes and to view picture attachments what would be another appealing reason for me to upgrade from BBC 2.X ?
Have anyone installed BBC 4.0 on LVSW 0429 ROM or Black 2.5 ROM yet ?
TIA
well
i tried it on my universal running wm6
and god i got stuck on boot screen and even a hard reset not working for me
anyone please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been running BB Connect 2.blah.blah.54 for some time so it took me almost 6 installs on my Jasjam before the installation worked. Each previous time it installed and then uninstalled itself. I ended up having to copy the .CAB to my memorycard and then installed/reboot, installed/reboot until it stuck.
My company runs a BES and, using the desktop client, I was up and running in no time at all.
And why, you may ask, would I want to upgrade to all that security???
Because my carrier meters internet data separately to blackberry data and BB Connect 2 did not include a browser. So now I have a FREE!!!! browser access, not only to the internet, but my corporate network as well.
I hate to shout but...THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR POSTING
I'm having issues installing the desktop application. It installs all the way through (I even see the files in the destination directory for a split second) after which everything is removed again..... No clue what that is about. Tried to unpack the .msi file within the installer but no luck.
So I can't activate the client through my PC/Network.
Tried wireless OTA activation instead, where you have to enter your mail address and a password. You see two e-mails being sent by the device/rim server that are used for the activiation but the device doesn't seem to activate. Could it be the password needed for activation is different from the exchange password?
Strange.
It must not like the Treo 750's ROM.
I have tried 2 different SIMs both out of Blackberry 7290s. One from Cingular and one out of a T-Mobile device.
I'm stumped. It goes from "Network Available" to Data Tunnel Found" to "Not Connected".
Update: Tried the Vodafone ROM too with no luck.
Blackberry connect and browser
Managed to get the BB Connect 4.0 version running on the Black 2.0 build. AN earlier poster commented on getting the blackbeery browser to work. I did not seem to get any browser applicvation installed, do I need to do some additional config to get this up and running. I thin kI have all the service books listed.
Any help much appreciated
Thanks
Andy

Me too, but even when it appears to install properly, I can't find it in programs or settings. The 2.xx.xx versions always put a shortcut in System Settings.
Any suggestions? I'm running Black 2.0 (WM6).
Edit: Never mind, it seems to be working now!
After installation there was a Blackberry icon in the settings. This needed to be run first for initial config. After that I had a blackberry icon in my programs list that contains a browser link.

Hi,
Maybe I am beating a dead horse but could somebody please help me with these questions about BBConect.
Device: T-Mobile MDA with ROM version 2.26.x
Questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
Also if somebody could give a step-by-step install guide (all pdfs I downloaded are not in English), that will really help out.
Thanks in advance.
Before answering, I can tell you that rom 2.26 and the current BB connect client do not work. You will have to use a different rom. For me, based on postings on teh forum, qtek 2.17 and cingular radio 2.25 work well.
Now to your questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
replacement for bberry service and device. if your company has a BES server, you can now use your MDA to get corpoarte email. (I do not believe it works with blackberry internet service)
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
designated folder
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
yes
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
yes. BBerry will use a different connection. My MDA deals pretty well with switching from one connection to teh other (automatically)
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
if you have the right ROM, pretty easy. see the other posts on teh forum. But you can't6 use rom 2.26 yet.
Thanks for the answers.
I guess I will wait for T-Mobile to update the ROM.
I am not against running other ROMs, it is just that I have bricked couple of devices and wasted too much time to get the data back.
-G
Is there any option to have blackberry and MSN Messenger simultaneusly connected?
not really: they use different GPRS access point.
I know this thread is dead for some time, but I would like to get ne1fl0w5 wave here.
I have a Qtek 9100 from Claro (Telmex Brazilian sub). It was running 2.22.17.1 PTB ROM and 2.46.11 radio rom. First tried all BBConnect clients available (they were many). All installed but would halt at "Not connected" after first provisioning of the device and connection through GPRS/EDGE. After duly CIDunlocking the Qtek at imei-check (mine is a G4, I forgot to mention), I took a deep breath and decided to give it Vodafone's ROM a shoot.
I followed these instructions and managed to make it work.
Now, to your questions:
Questions:
1. What are the advantages of using BBConnect (other than receiving emails from BB Servers)
First of all, I have to say that I find (or thought, at first) BB email services excelent, but the devices really bad. Those little keys are small even for my 9-month old baby. Besides that, that trackwheel will certainly cause repetitive stress injuries. I used for less than a day and my arm started aking (please, don't say I am fragile) In addition, it was not made for lefties such as me. And the 8700g does not have an efficient cursor (for instance, if you are to delete a letter in the beggining of a line (or two words before the cursor), you would have to delete everything and retype the text.
For those reasons, I prefer the Qtek...
As per the system itself, I have to say that emails are delivered really fast to each of them. In Blackberry connect, the calendar items are also syncronized correctly as well. However, it did not sync my contacts (and it is probably not meant to), as opposed to the Blackberry device, in which both were available.
2. Where does it write emails to (Outlook Inbox or any designated folder)?
Designated folder. You can chose which server folders you want sync'd as well.
3. If I use BBConect can I still use ActiveSync to synchronize with other Outlook Inbox folders?
Yes. However, BBConnect uses a dedicated GPRS connection and it will compete with Outlook for the radio. You will probably have issues if you are looking for concurrent exchange push functionality.
4. I have seen somewhere that the WAP proxy needs to be changed: How does it affect other apps like T-Zones? Can I still connect to the Internet using GPRS?
Whenever you connect to do anything else, your BB connection will be lost.
5. How easy is it to install, configure & operate BBConnect?
It was hard to install all Roms required to make it work, but once you have this part finished, it is very easy to get things going.
Also if somebody could give a step-by-step install guide (all pdfs I downloaded are not in English), that will really help out.
The post above gives you all the directions (except for creating the blackberry.net connection, which is not necessary).
Sorry for the lenghty (and completely out of time) post, but I would like to share this with you.
Also, I would like to say that I was not very impressed with the way things eventually got working. first thing I noticed was that the reconciliation with the server was not complete. For instance, read messages did not display as such at my server, only at the device. In addition, the BB service uses lots of storage and memory.
In the end, I prefered my Qtek 2.22 rom (much faster to load) and much better loking style. Because of all this, I have just reverted to Qtek's rom and decided to go with email redirection to an external exchange sp2 account. Although we have that in the office, they have high security standards (but forgot to prevent email redirections).

BB Connect on WM6
Blackberry is running smoothly in Universal with WM6 Rom all thanks to c0rnholio. He figured out a way to change the string that will work through decoding>changing>encoding and flashing and finally a small aku registry change.
I was wondering if same thing can be done with wizard.
Here is how-to from c0rnholio
I managed quite easy to get BB Connect running (for company email via BES).
I had the 2.24 (Mr Clean) OS ROM, 2.24 Bootloaders and 2.25.11 Congular Radio. I knew that would not support BB.
I took the OS and ExtROM from the QTek 2.17 package, changed the pagepool to 8MB (BB was said to be a memory consumer), repacked them to a new nk.nbf (with only OS and ExtROM), upgraded, installed BB Connect 2.1.2.31 (downloaded from the Vodafone.de website) and voila!
By just following the Blackberry Connect tutorial (also downloaded from vodafone.de) I had it going.
Good to know:
-I did this exercise after I received my Blackberry device from my employer (I was happy with the functionality, not with the device). So I was sure that the BB functionality was Ok for my company email account.
-When I generated the key for my PDA PIN the Blackberry device was no longer functional (I can think of reasons why).
-I did not have to use the SIM I have in the Blackberry device, in my PDA I am still using my Voice SIM (which also has a data plan)
Hi
I'm also working on getting BBconnect to work with the newer roms. I managed to get it to work with the latest Tmobile rom 2.26. But Crossbow still no luck.
I looked at the solution for changing the strings, but unfortunatly the strings mentioned are not in the crossbow rom...so can't change them (I guess they're different?).
I have contacted Faria; he seems to have a way to tweak the system so that it will work. He's currently on holiday but as soon as I have some info I'll post it here.
Did you try to get it to work on the latest aku3.3 rom?
now works
I've got it now working on all roms...including Crossbow. There is a detailled explanation in the developing forum that shows how to change the rom for BBconnect to work.
Is there an easy way to do this?
I am not a complete newbie, but I am certainly no expert in hex editing, so I was wondering if there is an wasy way to make it work on other Wizard ROMs, including the Brazilian provider I am hooked with.
Currently I am using Tmo's ROM, but there are a lot of features in this ROM I do not use and that take lots of space...
Thanks
Hacking isnt that difficult, it's just that you need to understand how it works.
The thread in Development & Hacking says it all.
I think (just have to dare to flash the hacked os now!) I managed to hack the official AKU3.3 WWE ROM.
Hey all,
I have been running the PDAViet 4.0 version of the WM6 rom for our wizards. I must say that so far it seems loads better than most of the roms I have tried on it (and I have tried most of them )
Before, I had no issues with getting push email from my exchange server at work. Now after upgrading to WM6, I can't seem to connect for the life of me. When I connect, I get a "Support code: 0x80072F06" error. Now instead of being a total tool and just asking you smarties to solve my question without any leg work on my part, I researched this error code and it seems to be a certificate error. I have entered my exchange server info the EXACT way as before.
I even exported the certificate from IE, and imported it into my 8125. Same error. I then also downloaded the SSLChainSaver app, extracted the certificates from my exchange server, made it into a .cab file, imported it...nothing.
So, that being said, do you think that this is some sort of a WM6 issue? I would really hate to go back to WM5 at this point.
I saw somewhere that you could disable the OS from checking for a SSL certificate by doing a registry change, but when navigating to HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Activesync/Partners/UID blah blah <-- that last part isn't in there, so I can't insert a value to disable it... Please help!!!!!
The only other issue I have seen at this point with the WM6 rom is that the keyboard is jacked up...my dot characters aren't right at all...however the numbers and letters are fine.
Thank you so much for any help you can provide. I have been lurking on the site since the 8125 came out, and I must say I have learned a great deal from this community. Thanks!

Are you running Exchange 2003 at work? I'm still on 2003 and have never had a problem, whether with WM5 or WM6. I DO, however, ALWAYS configure my AS on the device initially. (If I use the PC I don't get my tasks) ... Plus it's just easier for me.
If the certificate worked with WM5 it'll work with WM6.
Is there an easy way to figure it out without asking anyone? I work for an IT company that runs all of m$'s latest stuff as far as I can tell. I would imagine they are at least 03. It worked just fine all day, and I know lots of people connected right now with WM5. It just seems to be picky with WM6 for some reason.
I am also running Vista on my work machine. There is no activesync. Now it is win mobile device center, and it doesn't feel the same at all. I haven't gotten it to sync with my phone on bluetooth yet. You can't specify com ports in the tool at all, just bluetooth. Oh well, keep reading I guess
It was the ROM...
I switched to the Underground Rom and everything seems to be working fine now. I wouldn't advise anyone with an 8125 to use the PDAViet 4.0 rom, this one, however, works great.
SSL
You are right. I Disabled SSL and Direct push worked for me
You're lucky! I couldn't even get it to work by doing that...
So guys, I had a BB Bold and it fell and the screen broke. The next day I got the X1 as a gift and I was wondering what features I could put on it. The application that came to my mind was BB Connect and I went through this forum for hours got the application and installed it but I had the pin pending issue so i forgot all about it and got the BB Storm, fixed the BB bold and gave it to my girlfriend.
Recently my storm fell and the screen went bad so I went back to my X1 determined to fix it. Well, the R3A rom was just released so i updated my "vodafonised" x1. Just a note, the vodafone rom was crap. I'm in Nigeria and i could not do anything with it. i couldn't even hook it up to wifi. The GPRS settings were not configurable.
The R3A ROM is perfect. No vodafone crap, and I installed BB connect version 4 and it worked like a charm. I use the MTN Nigeria BIS service.
No Pin pending! The browser works perfect.
My advise, if you need to unleash the power of the x1 then you need to get the ROM fixed.
Please see links I used below.

Very interesting! First, I am new to Blackberry.
Blackberry Connect is an application for Windows Mobile which enables WinMo users to have Blackberry Service? Am I understanding this correctly?
If so, my friends which use and show off their Blackberries gonna be stunned!
can somebody confirm that is working ? We had an "almost running blackberry" thread in this forum.
Confirm: Working
Hi Guys,
It's finally working. When I installed versions .103, .92 and .90 I got the "pin pending" story. Drove me nuts.
I tried the Sems .106, and this works on R3A for me
I noticed that R1A and R2A have a device OS ID which is "HTC-Kovsky"
(this is different to what you can set in the "About", it is the ID embedded in the OS - you need a hex editor to change it, before flashing the OS file back to the phone. See here post 302: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=294218)
R3A has a device id of SEMC-X1, and this seems to validate against the BB network and supplies a Pin to your device. I have read on SEMS comments that v.103 and previous don't work. So I reckon use .106..
Steps:
1) install .106
2) select sync options
3) install complete, restart
4) upon restart, connect to BB network
5) you might have to wait a few hours, because for me it connected, then disconnected, then after a few hours I went to the status tab in BBconnect, and clicked "disable" and then "enable" to kick start the connection again. Then after a few tense seconds it obtained the Pin..

This is probably something related to the BIS Service - I can't use internet also, but at my company it's not enabled for our devices.

I do not see any reason why Internet browser should not work. If you are on the BIS package, you will have a new internet explorer specifically for your blackberry connect. It should be in the blackberry folder. I don't know anything about BES>
If you have access to your providers blackberry page, you can try resending your service books. That should send all your settings back to your phone.

BTW, i have tried, but havent got BB serv activated yet. I did noticed my phone was behaving weirdly, like screen will turn on at times, a bit slow. i finally removed it.i think it kwwp trying to connect to BB server or something.

thnx!!!!!! it works!!! i contacted orange uk first, they activated it. i reinstalled the bb connect ver 4.0.0.106 ... after abt 2 reboots, i got my pin no!!!
now the silly part ... is there bb messenger that i can use? i only managed to get my email working.
Will I be able to use Blackberry Messenger with BB Connect? Use PIN to text my friends such a thing.
Can someone make a tutorial for this application for newbie. And yeah same question does it mean we can get bbpin with this bbconnect program
I'm wondering also if once we obtain a BB Pin, could we then use BB messenger on our Xperias...this would finally allow me to mock all of my BB-lovin friends, as I would truly own the world
Installation is very simple. But be sure that you have new rom, on R2a and R1A want work.
Activate with your service provider BB service, download 4.0.0.106 cab from here http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=338, install and wait until reeboot. Thanks for your workaround and I managed to get my BB Connect working on my Touch Pro 2 and I am using BIS.
Blackberry Connect is Working on HTC TouchPro2
Dear All,
Rejoice HTC TouchPro2 owners. Blackberry connect for working on HTC Touchpro 2 now. Just follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4150074&postcount=35 this web-link and you will achieve your intentions.
Can't get it working for long on mine
I have followed the instructions given in the link, and can get BBConnect 106 to work on my TP2, but only for a while ...
The BBConnect 106 loads, I get BES connection, email, contacts, calendar, notes and tasks downloaded ... manage to send and receive a few email, then it all stop ... with some very strange behaviour.
I have tried everything I can think of to get it working consistently, but can't manage it. I get the impression that the BBConnect is being loaded some place where it should be ... not very technical I know, but thats the way it appears.
The TP2 I have is a Hong Kong English Language version ... WWE ... not sure if that makes a difference.
ROM and Radio version ...
The version I have on my TP2 are
ROM 1.19.721.3 (51489) WWE
Radio: 3.44.25.27
And to correct my typo in the previous note, I think the BBConnect is being loaded shmewhere it shouldn't be loaded, which is causing other features and functions of the phone to mis-behave ... as an example, I was unable to search for new networks manually ... lost the Roaming flag on the top of the screen (small triangle sign), was always displaying GPRS connection, even when not connected to the network (so E (edge), or G being displayed ...)
I also tried version 104 of the BBconnect, just to see if it was version 106 specific, but this didn't make a difference.
Apart from that, the phone is close to perfect, for me at least ... particularly like the way the screen blanks when you are making a call and put it close to your ear, then comes alive again when you move it away so you can see it and access it. With the TP, I was always putting calls on hold when I put the phone to my ear ... also like the way the speaker phone is activated automatically when you place the phone face down.
Now if I could only get BBConnect to work, it would be perfect
I did get it working, I couldn't get SetModelID.exe to run with the reg string, I have Memmaid that allows you to set programs to run and I put SetModelID.exe in there and I have email!
Question!
Why use BBConnect for emails? What's wrong with the way the emails are already on the HTC? What is the difference exactly?
Just curious because this sounds interesting.

My company disables sync with Exchange and I can only get work email with Blackberry service. I think it's a common problem.
Yipee mine works too . only problem is sometimes the BB connect tells me radio blocked or in use especially when i use MSN chat or go online with another application on the phone. is there any option i need to tweak ?
BB CONNECT Messenger?
Can BB Messenger be used with BB Connect?
Windows Mobile 6.5 and BlackBerry Connect
Guys, I would like to hear from someone who understands the 6.6 environment whether you think upgrading into WM 6.5 will allow me to still use the BBerry Connect. has anybody tried upgrading a Rhodium and then try the BBerry?

RSACIPHER: I had same problem. could not change Model ID. What is Memmaid and how did that work?
Also
C0RNHOLIO: maybe you should look into why this is happening so that your solution works all the time. Mine is a T-Mobile Rhodium.
Thanks to both
And what about a HTC Rhodium with WM 6.5? Try it but didn't get it.

Are you able to have multiple data streams? Or does Blackberry Connect shutdown when another data stream is present and you have to restart it? I can't seem to get multiple data streams to function on any ROM even with some of the old tricks from the 8525 and Raphael....

I have been running BB on my TP2 on 6.1, 6.5 and 6.51 roms with Sense 2.1 and 2.5. They all work, and no, I cannot have multiple data streams so when I use the browser my BB connect shows no connection. If I disconnect data, sometimes BB automatically connects but generally I have to run BB connect, disconnect and reconnect (so I added a shortcut to it on my programs).
For me, using 6.51 and 2.1 gives the least trouble. I dont know why.
BTW I keep getting reminders that there is a new BB Desktop update (5.01).
good idea on adding the shortcut. I have found that it rarely reconnects and I had to turn off the auto update for the weather or I would start missing emails. I hope someone gets a fix for this soon as this is the perfect email phone...

I have two streams (BB & Contract Internet) running at the same time.
I am on UK Vodafone contract so that probably makes a difference

Having concurrent connections two 2 APNs simulatiously only works for GPRS (as far as I have observed on all my past and current devices).
So if you want to have BBC and Internet at the same time you need to switch to GPRS only and disable auto band switching for 3G. If anyone knows a way to get concurrent connections working on 3G, please post how.
EDIT: The infos in the follwing post should do the job:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2382465&postcount=37
I have been seeing various posts on people struggling to make BBConnect work on HTC Touch Pro 2 a.k.a Rhodium and thought I would put down a step by step guide from various posts put down through this forum So rejoice all you HTC Touch Pro 2 owners like me BB Connect is finally working and so is Multiple APN's. I have BB Connect Enterprise and GPRS connecting simultaneously and its showing up on the notifications manager.
This step by step solution is thanks to Cornholio, Absahnen & NRGZ8(The Master Chef who cooks wonderful ROms across devices)
So Here Goes
Step I: GET YOURSELF A NEW ROM:
Trying to install Blackberry Connect is very buggy on most of the stock ROMS and will keep on failing. So go and get yourself the latest NRGZ8 ROM for Rhodium I am using Build 21877 27th Nov Standard Manila 2.1. The ROM is anyway faster with almost no bugs and free of Junk that you see on standard ROMS
download the ROM from this link:
http://hotfile.com/list/93322/b5a2687
Step2: CHANGE AKU SETTINGS
This change is needed to make BB Connect work on WinMo 6.5 ROMS.
Using a registry editor go to HKLM/System/Versions
There you will see the aku key usually on any WinMo 6.5 ROM its .5.xx.xx change the aku value to .1.6.0(.1.6.3 didnt work, the connection was getting dropped)
Step 3: FOOLING YOUR BB CONNECT SOFTWARE TO THINK YOUR DEVICE IS A RAPHAEL
The Rhodium is not yet supported by RIM and looks like they have withdrawn support for further devices. Therefore you need the BB connect to believe that your Touch Pro 2 is a Touch Pro i.e. Your Rhodium is a Raphael. To do this you have to make registry changes you can use any registry editor I used Resco Registry Editor which loads when you load Resco Explore on your device To do this follow the steps below very carefully, using the registry editor
Instructions:
------------
- Uninstall any BB Connect software if you loaded.
- Attached find a rar file which contains SetModelID.exe. Unzip it and copy it over to the \windows\ folder of your device.
- Using any registry editor of your choice navigate to HKLM\init Create a new String Value with the name "Launch130" and a value of "SetModelID.exe" (without the quotes)
If Launch130 already exists, choose a number greater than 130, it doesn't really matter, just make sure it is higher than the other entries so it get started after everything else.
This makes sure the exe isnt started after every softreset.
- Do a softreset
- The program changes your model-id from "HTC-Rhodium" to "HTC-Raphael" in memory
- Install Blackberry Connect like you usually do (My tests where successfull with version 4.0.0.106)
- After installation and the auto-reset through BBC open the BBC settings and go to the Info-Tab. Under device-name there should now be HTC-Raphael.
- If you're using BES configure your device using enterprise activation or the BB Connect desktop app
STEP 4: ENABLING MULTIPLE APN'S
This will allow you simultaneously have an active BBConnect and a GPRS connection active at the same time
Go to:
HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL\OperatorContexts
There you will find several numbers. E.g. 26202 for Vodafone in Germany.
The number is a combination of MCC / MNC so 262 02. You might find you operator in this list:
http://surfio.de/info/mcc_mnc/mcc_mnc_liste_6.html
or do a google search for your specific operators MCC/MNC nos
Create the two DWord Value Entries below if they arent there:
GPRSContextNumber = 3
UMTSContextNumber = 3
Just set the Contexts value to 3 and delete the NetworkContexts entry. It will be created from the source above with the value 3.
And voila you will have multiple connections running simultaneously you can get your BB Mails as well as see Youtube videos over GPRS. I managed to do this over a frustrating 48 hour period and I thought will share this for anyone seeking an answer.
Cheers and enjoy
Man! The guide looks great! but it makes my brain hurt!!! Arggg!!!
(Hardly understand some part of the guide.)
: )
Heres my step by step, plus all the software and a cab called black berry that someone else kindly put together for me that does all the registry steps (and makes the multiple APN switch for TMOB US). (BTW this has worked on EVERY ROM I have used, 6.1, 6.5, 6.53, sense 2.1 and 2.5):
['black berry cab' does all these]:
Copy SetModelID.exe into windows
HKLM\init: Create a new string: Launch130 with value: SetModelID.exe
HKLM\system\versions\aku - change to .1.6.3 [which works for me]
HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL\OperatorContexts\...
Create new ones or edit your relevant operators GPRS and UMTS to 3
[for US find them in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mobile_network_codes_in_the_United_States]
HKLM\Comm\Cellular\RIL\
set the Contexts value to 3
Delete the NetworkContexts entry
Soft Reset
Install BB Settings CAB
(I always create a shortcut in programs from 'BB Settings' in Program Files/Blackberry - its a quick way to run this file later)
Either: Using BB connect desktop for WM 'configure wireless handset' (see below)
Or: get new key generated by your company's tech support and enter them into BB Settings on your device
(Activesync blackberry connect desktop setup can be found at http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bb_desktop_4.0.0.22.zip. I use this becuase YOU CAN GENERATE YOUR OWN KEY and configure your handset again and again which means you dont have to bug tech support every time you burn a new ROM, which I do every few days!)
for some reason I cant upload the blackberry connect cab, so here is the link http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb.4.0.0.106.cab
black berry cab is attached.

Well what can I say Mr What 150 was trying to help. The step by step guid is written keeping noobs in mind so that you dont get back Q's on How to do this? and How to do that? and help ppl besides just those in the US who cant use the cab posted here anyways and dont know how to write complicated XML codes.
Thanks a lot patcat!!!
I had my rhodium working with BB connect but no multiple APNs... had to manually suspend BB service and enable GPRS everytime I needed anything from the internet. Those days are gone now!!!
Now, have you ever wondered why is it that BB Messenger, being a Java application, can not be ported to WM and run on our TP2s? I mean, we have our BB data plans, a PIN# and are connected to the Blackberry service.. what else do we need for BB Messenger to work?

You are welcome Roberto. I havent yet come across any cab for BB messenger. There has been talk of a BB application suite to run on WinMo but I havent seen any beta's also of that floating around. If you do come across any BB Messenger cab do post it here or PM me the cab.
Most reliable method
Here is what I do...I think it is the most reliable method....and I have used it with just about every ROM out there and it works...everytime...It looks like a lot of steps but it is very easy and after the first ROM flash you will know what do do for any others...I actually learned this from this site and MUCH smarter people than me...so thanks to all those who helped get Blackberry Connect working. Without this site I might still have an 8525 because I need blackberry connect...!
Installing Blackberry connect...this has to happen in this order...
1. Download a ROM
2. Edit the ROM using the information from here, it looks complicated but takes less than a minute essentially you use the program you download to change any reference to Rhodium to Raphael using a search: http://www.silentservices.de/HexEdit-ROM-for-BBC.html
3. Flash the edited ROM.
4. Install the CAB file I attached it will change the AKU for you...I actually put it in my UC script so it automatically installs before Blackberry Connect...
5. Install Blackberry Connect version 4.0.0.106
Allowing Multiple APN's (This can happen at ANY time)
Follow step four in the original guide or if you are AT&T all you have to do is use a registry editor and go to HKLM\Software\OEM\RIL\Operator Contexts\310410 and change UMTSContextNumber to 2. If you use 2 then you don't have to worry about anything else like deleting the Network Contexts entry....
BBC
Works excellently on my TP2 with .106 cab on Vodafone India network at Delhi.
Good work bro, well sorted out steps

Address book, Sending pictures via Email not available
Hi,
I've got everything working thanks to you guys.
When composing a new Email, the address book is not being used (no Auto completion or suggestion).
I would take a picture from the camera but the option to send via Email is greyed out with the account setup via BB.
No HTML Email viewing.
Is it designed to work like that with BB Connect?

PIN is provided by GSM service provider. These step enable the BBC software to accept your handset model as compatible for BB services. Its not a hack for working BB without BB activation. Get the BB services activated from GSM operator and u shall have a PIN also.

I added what I know...it does seem since Blackberry connect is an older program everything ends up like a work around...
When composing a new Email, the address book is not being used (no Auto completion or suggestion).
It won't auto complete. If you click the menu and use the "check Names" feature it will first look in your address book and then if you hit Lookup it will look in the global address book. A little more cumbersome but it works.
I would take a picture from the camera but the option to send via Email is greyed out with the account setup via BB.
I have not been able to send photos from the camera in the last several Roms...so I think it is the newer Album that doesn't allow it. You can still send it by attaching it when creating an email, but yes this is a little cumbersome as well...
I only have one email account setup on my device which i

hi there, i have the same problem of not having a pin on my tp2, my carrier says the pin is on the device here is a copy and paste of my carrier web iste when i tried to activate the service
"To find your PIN perform one of the following actions:
* In the BlackBerry device options or settings, click Status.
* Look for the PIN and IMEI information on the outside of the box that your BlackBerry device or BlackBerry-enabled device came in.
* Turn the BlackBerry device off and remove the battery. Look for the sticker on the BlackBerry device with the PIN information where the battery is usually located."
Nice tutorial, patcat007. On my TP2 with a 6.5 ROM my BB Connect work. Anyway, when I change the AKU to .1.6.3, something happens with graphics in my dialer like in the picture attached. Anyone could help to correct this? Thank's!
