Now I understand why you have slow gui response. Maybe you should get rid of those today plug ins you have installed....

After a soft reset, it loads the following programs/today plugins: Today Agenda, Pocket Weather and iLauncher. Although the Trinity is plenty fast, I did change the registry with the same buffer and memory hacks as described in the Wiki for WM5 devices, this normally decreases the available RAM just a bit. Anyway, I just did a soft reset to verify the available RAM and it is showing exactly 30.0 meg. I then load Photo Contacts Pro manually and end up with 28 meg. of free RAM. After starting up a wifi connection, and loading Pocket Outlook, IE plus and other apps, then closing them all down again, I still end up with 27 meg. free. I'm quite pleased with this number since my Prophet only shows about 20.6 meg after a soft reset with exactly the same application setup and load and close app procedure.
I forgot to mention mine loads with the factory default plugins and also TomTom 6.
I also have Skype installed but I removed it from the today because I noticed that the gui was getting a bit slow, nothing dramatic just enough to notice it.

I have:
Program: 23.71
Storage: 18.29
This is with the phone activated.
SPB PP + Weather panel + Comm manager.
When you say 30, do you mean in total or just for programs?
In my opinion, mine is running very slowly, I am quite disapointed with its performance. Specially with PocketInformat and Flexmail.
Any sugestion?
Thanks in advance.

I meant 30 meg free for Programs, storage space on mine is 0 because I still don't have a storage card that works in it, so it is full of stuff. It is driving me crazy! I've ordered a new mini SD ...waiting. Dopod is a phone company in Asia that sells a version of the P3600. Sometimes they have a cleaner firmware ROM than HTC.

When I say Storage, I mean the storage side of the internal memory of the Triny, not the added SD Card.
You may know that the internal memory is divide in two parts, Programs and Storage.
Just for your information, as memory card, I am running a Sandisk of 2 GB without problems in my Triny.

Hello,
I own a Qtek S200 and I have loaded it with every possible ROM without solving my problem. The problem is a very strong memory leak.
After a reset I have something like 17 mb free. At the end of the day I end up with around 5 Mb and here we go for another reset.
I am using SPB Pocket Plus so every task I start is completely closed when I am done with it.
Does anybody have the same problem? Is there any solution?
Thanks
xtrips - great topic title! A+ for effort
You'll have to detail what software you've got installed, and for your own benefit, try hard resetting and running the device without any software installed to confirm the location of the leak. Frankly advice is going to be - hard reset, re-install one app at a time and run it for a while, until you find the one that leaks.

Hi, I'm having the same kind of problems, never got time to test and check if it's software or OS related..
Need help!
Hi,
I just want to know how much RAM do you have left after a soft reset and if it holds an acceptable amount of free ram in the long run.
I have tried every available ROM on my S200 and I usually run the following softwares:
- SPB diary, weather, time, insight
- Wisbar Advanced
Well after soft reset I have something like 18 Mb free but after an hour it gets to 10. The morning after I only have 6 or 5. At this point it is useless to try to run anything. It just freezes.
I usually do at least 2 or 3 soft resets a day.
I am sick of it and I would like to know if anybody shares the same experience?
Thanks
Ditto here too, a memory leak of some sort. Installed SKs soft to 'get back' the RAM which just sends hibernate calls to running soft and has them free up what RAM they have accumulated thus far. I also found that at the end of the day my filesys.exe, gwes.exe and my shell32.exe have trippled or even quadruppled in size and anything I try to free up the RAM is futile - soft reset gets it back to around 18MB. By the way I don't have any SPB Software installed either, it probably isn't any faulty soft, I am thinking that it has to do with these ROMs that we flash with. When the original QTEK ROM was installed the RAM at boot was already at 18 - 20MB and now with 2.20.7.34 it starts with 2.2MB and then jumps back to +/- 18MB after about 10 seconds or so... something in there is clanking around somewhere but I am not a mechanic.
Just my input, I would like to not have to do 2 or 3 reboots per day too...
Hi there, just found that loaded app's dlls won't be unloaded, even if you use a task manager to really close the apps. That seems intended by design, it's not a memory leak (as they won't be loaded again the next time you start that app).
So.... if you use few apps, either intensively or not, you won't have to restart your ppc all the time. BUT if you use many (many) apps, even if you only launch them once per day, you may have to reboot everyday once your memory will be completely filled with those dlls. EVERYTHING uses dlls (and they have not much in common), including creating a new contact, new task, viewing your calendar, launching a settings applet, etc.
i have got the same problem, using AKU 2.3 ROM, which ROM are you guys using? And what today plugins have you got?
I have:
luncher
spb diary 2.2.1
ptravelalarm 2.7 beta

I've been evolving around the same set apps loaded in my PDA from the beginning, on the other hand I tried 'almost' all the AKU's around and i can tell you that:
- only when I tried AKU's 3.x or WM6, and only then, I could clearly notice a serious improvement in memory management.
I was always blaming the software I was installing but i ran many tests including running my PDA with the OS only, not even loading Extended ROM stuff. Well my S200 always behaved badly.
The problem is these AKU's are still very buggy and i had to reverse back to the release Qtek version 2.2 os.
It's the worse for memory management (i wake up sometimes wit only 2.3 mb memory lesft to use!) but it still is the most stable and all features works.
That's all.
has anyone thought of a way around this? or a way to increase RAM for that matter? i've been using PocketIE and after 3 or more additional windows via spb pocketplus, the prophet slows down drastically or worse it hangs when i check the RAM it's already critically low.. i tried rebooting the prophet and running only PocketIE again through GPRS (3 windows again) still the same thing.. slows or hangs.. any workarounds here? BTW im using iMate ROM 2.13.9.23WWE if it helps.. RAM starts up at 18MB..
Hi, having same problems here with ram. Maybe we could just stop some processes we don't use form start up. For instance
Input method; i just use kboard, not handtype or phonepad
Dictionary
MMS
GPRS
Speedialing...
The question; HOW TO!?
Maybe you could try the little proggie OxiosMemory to get rid of the trash without having to soft-reset. Can be found typing OxiosMemory in Google.
The othe day I found this utility. It is skinnable too
I installed this and made a screen shot

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it and let you all now. Even if it is written for Windows Xp/2003 hope it will work well on Vista too if you are using it.
You could easily use the ReadyBoost in sight and use or share the memory of your SD card, you must first enable the facility in Vista, is not a real increase of ram, but it helps to choose an increase between 30% and 80% performance overall system, improving its performance, my advice is to share the amount of memory to use in SD, for example, I have one of 4Gb, 2Gb for ReadyBoost and 2 gigabytes of storage. If you want to share one more memory, you'll have to turn on Vista also ease of use memory more than 4Gb default is disabled. Best regards

Hmmm, my TD2 only seems to have 183MB of Program memory. The official specs say "288MB RAM", the same as the Touch Pro, but I'm sure my TP had more Program Memory available than the TD2 has.
It tends to run at 77% of Memory used, whereas the TP ran at around 48%. Maybe TF3D2 takes up more RAM.
Any comments?
I agree as well...I am not sure what is going on here??
I got mine in today and it says 288MB Ram. and all day it's been at about %5o memory usage or below. Been messing around with it alot.
where does it say 288MB? could you post a screen shot please?
mine is reporting 183mb as well shouldnt it be 288? also the storage says 299mb mind you this is just via the task manager so might not be showing it all?
mine says
Storage total = 298
Program total = 183

Give me till this afternoon.... It is almost 9am here... I need to find an app for takin a screen shot and post it up when I can.
If you're referring to Device Information then mine shows 288 etc... but in Taskmanager memory its 183.
I see what you are saying. Could it be that that is what is left after Windows is installed on the phone? Kinda like when you buy a mp3 player or HD or SD Card..... it may say 16GB but it actually is 15.68GB. (Just exaple not accurate numbers)

Low Program Memory
Does anybody has a clue why TD2 has so litle free program mem? After a whole day use I end up having 20-30 MB of free memory. I'm afraid that this will cause problems in the future if I install some more applications.
Today I have 4 application installed and all are placed on storage card.
After Reboot free program memory is 95MB av a total of 183MB. That means that 88MB is allocated upon startup. What is allocating so much memory.
I had a touch HD and allmost never went below 70MB of free program memory.
is there a memory leak somewhere ????
Strange?
Even though I have so little of program memory left starting at 70% memory allocation, I could open all preinstalld applications without exiting (note, word, ppt, IE, Opera, Mail inbox, calc, etc..., etc...) + iGO8 and strangly memory allocation is still at 80%. I should not complain as it doesn't seem to distrupt me from what I want to do. It is maybe like vista caching dll's and thats is maybe why we feel that TD2 is much faster then Touch HD.
Hi Guys
Ive realized too a huge use of RAM during the day,
But seen that Opera is running the hole time (or it seems so).
coz the opera open Instantly, maybe a push internet function.

I think ist still running in Background.
Maybe it this our memory- eater?

if you want to exit opera you need to choose exit from the opera menu. otherwise it will run in the background.

Opera does run in the background even when you exit it, its even running right after a softreset. If you want to check for yourself open the windows task manager (taskmgr located in the windows folder) not the HTC one and view the processes list. Opera runs as a background process which is why it loads so fast and updates the push internet pages.

Yeah very snappy and all but you don't fool us HTC. If Opera IS running in the background, why not have it in the HTC taskmanager? I've been trying to find a registry entry that provides for the hiding of the Opera process but haven't had no luck so far. Will get back to you if I find it.
Guys, don't worry about how much free memory you have. Memory that is free is not being used and is therefore wasted. Ideally at any given time the OS should be using as much memory as it can to speed things up. Windows Mobile has a system (as does Symbian and I suspect other mobile OS), whereby if memory is low when a process requests it, it will tell other processes to shut down (well, first it tells them to reduce their memory footprint, then to shutdown if that doesn't work). If you have 20mb free it's because lots of programs are running. The fact that they're running allows them to be switched to very fast. If you start another program that for some reason requests 30mb, Windows Mobile will free the memory for it by shutting other processes down, especially ones it knows haven't been used in a while. 'Proper' applications will be written to not have volatile state held in memory and will be able to shutdown and then start up again minutes later as if they'd never been away.
Marshmallow have memory leak just like 5.0, that was fixed in 5.1 most likely the story will return once again and it will be fixed with 6.1
Hopefully also M7 will get 6.1 .
I there for just want to recommend to restart your phone atleast One time per day, since your device will become slower and slower it is on because of the memory leak. and it is not just huawei it is the same on all marshmallow phones, it is a google problem right now.

Unused RAM is wasted RAM. LMK on MM on our device is catastrophic. I have random closing apps like FB, FB Msg, Viber in middle of writing messages... And I'm not the only one...
Cached processes screen. You see here should be all apps that you exited via home button and it should it load quickly just like you bring minimized app on pc - it should be instant and it shouldn't reload it like our device is doing.
Free ram should be around 50-60 MB max all other ram should be used for cacheing background processes. Huawei software department need some help with understanding how RAM should be used.
See?

Reminds me of one plus 3 that released a phone with 6 gb but only use 4 gb of it. It is indeed. Memory is there to be used.
Anyway. I also have random close downs of apps especially kik but also other apps I think it is the memory leak on 6.0 that I'd to blame but this is a Google problem not a Huawei.
Still, no news regarding this >> https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=195104
(Anyone noticed otherwise with the August security update?)
I m on 4.4.4 (S5), thinking whether or not to upgrade to 6.0.1. Probably worths it, right?
Isn't there a practical workaround for this issue? Like certain apps (e.g. Clean Master), that clean memory/cache a good alternative? Does garbagge still accumulate on the system after long usage?
