Extended ROM of Jasjar - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro General

Did anyone make visualble the Extended ROM of Jasjar?
I can't do that yet!

Hi...
I don't think that JasJar have an extended ROM,since it's got Magneto as the original operating system...This means that it uses the ROM chips for 2 purposesperating system, and the rest as storage since it's got persistent memory...
Am using Magneto on my Himalaya since the beginning, and never had an extended ROM...unlike SE I used to have on my device...
RAGO

Hi!
Thanks, i also have been used Himalaya with WM5.0. but it has Extende ROM, and i accessed.
And Jasjar, after hard reset, the installation of cabs files can be seen.
So think it has,but not sure....
those installation CABs were not in the visualble rom. i hope it exist.
i want to teke the MMS client from Jasjar for my Himalaya!

Hi Asukal...
Do u mean u have ms_.nbf on Himalaya running Magneto,or u mean by extended ROM the 15 MB that became storage now..?
Concerning the installation of cab files on JasJar,do u think it's the 2577 folder method that M$ use,or u think that it has an extended ROM that u can install by flashing like ms_.nbf...?
Then probably ur right...and JasJar have extended ROM hidden out there in ROM,that runs the cabs after hard reset... :?
RAGO

Ok, so if you see the installs start after a hard reset, can you soft-reset before it kicks in and avoid the operator-spam programs being installed? Or is there anything vital in there which means you have to take the branding?
Joe

Thanks, i did it already, and tried to use many version of Extended ROM unlocker (including Himalaya WM5 i used before)
But any of them were no effect!

based on HTC Universal WIKI (by itsme) their is 10MB in Universal for Extended_ROM ..
can you export your Registry please and if possible make a full rom backup using this command
d2s 70000000 08000000
or just the extended_rom
d2s 74100000 00a00000
and upload it in the ftp please ..
tnx ..

or how about
changing the value of MountHidden to 0 found in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
then soft reset
im very much interest on Arcsoft MMS Composer v3.0.0.25 ..

Hello, seeing on a previous post, someone said the Storage available was 42 Megs!
Can you confirm?!?
blue angel has 60 Megs (When Ext Rom is deleted)
...
Btw the EXT ROM cab files from the JasJar would probably be very useful for Himalayas and Blue Angels!

because of different passwords for each device...
if you didn't already, would be cool to do, what toe said and the files dump with new file dumper.

Thanks Guys!
1;Memory Alocation of Jasjar was shown here!
No any Storage with this device like a BA.
http://asukal.seesaa.net/article/6777924.html
2;All files were dumped, also registry was exported as reg file.
then i already uploader here(with mamaich TESTWM5.exe)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=26987&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=25
3;changing the value of MountHidden to 0 found in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1]
i did this already, but no extended rom can be visuable....
4;Please instruct me how and what i can do this command
Please!
[can you export your Registry please and if possible make a full rom backup using this command ]
d2s 70000000 08000000
or just the extended_rom
d2s 74100000 00a00000
5;Some kinds of files in windows folder on Jasjar, replaced but no effect  (like a wince.nls, or mui files..i reported on another thread)
Does anyone have idea how to effect?
wince.nls i made with Platform Bulder and also taken from SDK emu image can work Himalaya WM5.0 1.6h--but not on ther version.

without this replacement, Japanese guys will be die!!!
Coz many Japanese have already placed order Jasjar and delivering on the way to their hands!
All of them are waiting for my work!

tnx Asukal ..
the dump.bin doesnt entirely get wat we expected .. but its okih maybe it has different physical address since it has totally new different spec than old devices ..
can you try the other image dumper by mamaich (try to set it to 128 MB)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=149665#149665
and let see waht will happen
btw ..heres the instructions .. (sorry i was so busy lately so i just post a link  )
kill wcescomm.exe
put the device in cradle then go to bootloader .. light + power + reset
run mtty.exe/romupdate.exe and choose USB or ..\\WCEUSBSH001
then make the d2s command
d2s 70000000 08000000
or
d2s 74100000 00a00000
btw unlike the HIMALAYA MAGNETO i think it will hard reset your device if you press those three buttons but im not really sure ..
tnx ..

i did following command with mmty/ROMupdate.exe
d2s 70000000 08000000
or
d2s 74100000 00a00000
but errors came for both command
*didnt happen hard reset aftre came back from bootloader
TestDump.exe you told me,
it was freezed on the progress! no more progress!
How should i do??

A little bit off topic, sorry
I read in some forum that you could not change the OS language in Jasjar, while other specifications indicate you can
Can anyone tell me if you can change the OS language fro say German to English (and how)?
Thanks

You can found his letter for me in english.
Please see the lower side of following page,

The beginning of dump.bin looks like a sensible startup
machine code, but its structure is
somewhat different from the earlier wince versions:

The first megabyte at 0x0 is mapped through the MMU http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Universal_Technical
and should be dumped properly.
It is also possible to use the haret.exe from
http://sdgsystems.com/pub/ipaq/hx4700/starterkit/20050611/
as a ROM/RAM dumper.
HaRET will tell a lot of other useful information:
where the video framebuffer is located and show the MMU page table.

Thanks so much!
But i already got the all cab files from Extended Rom last night (GMT +8)
and tried to upload many times, but ccould not yet!
I will try later from my office after three hours!
I couldnt find MMS client in them.
I saw it was on the rom but not on extended rom.
Also MMS client was not by a CAB files, we must pick up from dumped rom files.......
thanks!

Jeff's Kitchen help

I have chose everything i want in Jeff's Kitchen but none of the things i selected was installed into my XDA...
anyone who faced this problem exactly like me also?? developers??
please enlighten me on why this happen
thanks a million
Same for me with every room version.
it seams ther's a bug int jeffs module for the moment.
Same here. And its causing me lots of stress. I have tried several combinations in the kitchen but all didn't work out. The selected programs were found in the XDA Windows folder but the shortcuts and more importantly the "Misc' and "System tools" folder icons were not created at all.
I should have read this thread before deciding to downgrade from 4.00.11 to 4.00.05. Now I am stucked.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff for providing us his kitchen to cook our own ROM all this while. But I hope Jeff could help us further by fixing up this minor problem in his kitchen.

Why do you want to downgrade to 4.00.5?
For my self I was trying to upgrade to 4.00.11 but Jeff’s rom seams to have a bug for the moment.
I you want I have Jeff rom 4.00.5 nbf file but it's done with my own receipt, it has almost all options on it.

Thanks Yann but I usually took out most of the options so your 4.00.05 may not be ideal for me.
Anyway after using 4.00.11 for almost a month, me and other XDA users from our local forum felt that 4.00.05 was more stable than 4.00.11. In fact some of them have successfully downgraded back to 4.00.05.
We all fail to see any differences at all between 4.00.05 and 4.00.11 so if 4.00.05 is stable for you I suggest that you keep it until another version that has apparent improvement comes along.

I agree with that, anything that is suitable for your taste... that's why there are a lot of selection on the kitchen to choose.
Jeffs Kitchen 2003 roms DONT INSTALL ANY SHAREWARE ?!
I have just tried BOTH PPC 2003 rom images and they *do not* install any of the extra Shareware apps that I had selected.
I have not seen PPC2003 before so it was nice to play with the new options and I even found PocketTV gives me better frame rates from my 512mb sd card. BUT I miss all the nice shareware...
I DO HOPE THIS IS NOT A FAKE SITE and that it is just a glitch...
Can someone email me when its working again - or if anyone has a saved 2003 rom with the shareware apps ?

Jeff's Kitchen works!
Jeff's Kitchen works great. I have tried all options and all base ROMs and all of them work.
Make sure that all of you have checked the boxes in front of the main heading, that is, "Add software and Modify ROM", "Theft Protection" etc. This is important, otherwise the freeware will not be installed.

Yes. Done all that. Just say that we are not using the kitchen for the first time.
When was the last time you cook from the kitchen and all options worked fine?
Re: Jeff's Kitchen problem
Last was more than a month. Never tried later. Will try. But if you say so, there must be a problem. Never meant to disbelieve you.
Noticed that 2 - thought it was just I
Hey guys I noticed the prob 2. Thought twas just me and that maybe it had somethin to do wit d theft protection. Thought I would come on d site and see what others were sayin and here I am now writin. I reckon its been like this since about Wednesday of last week. Anyhows somethin is better than nothin and most of the progs are under Windows, so's I guess we just have 2 wait for those that know. Good Luck
Jeff's Kitchen problem
They are there! All the freeware selected is there under windows. However, the folders such as Internet, Misc, Phone, System Tool etc are not created under programs, and the links are not located there. If you select the tdLaunch option, all the selected freeware appears as buttons and they all work.
The problem could be in running the mkrom, but I am not techie and don't know about unix.
No Tdlaunch either !
I have just tried another download of the PPC2003 rom and Tdlaunch is not installed. Some of the other apps are , all installed into the windows dirctory but non of the short cuts are created :-(
I'm gonna stick with this version and hope that JEFF can fix it soon.
Keep up the good work.
Greg

2.xx ExtendedROM unlocker that work

The guys at :
http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&Itemid=59&func=view&id=19287&catid=45
have this file:
http://buzzdev.net/components/com_simpleboard/uploaded/files/Prophet_ext_rom_unlock.rar
- unpack
- copy it over to your device
- run it
This will make your ExtendedROM writable, NOT visible.
Use TotalCommander CE to display content of your ExtendedROM for now (by entering "\Extended_Rom")
Sometimes, files in ExtendedROM are marked as READONLY and you have to clear that bit.
Does anybody has a good description of each file present in the Extended_Rom and if we can delete it or not?????
After readin that whole thread it seems some say it works some say it does not.
Can anyone confirm it works with the latest Submitter Cingular Rom? I do not want to have to reinstall everything again
I just got things perfect from the last Hard Reset I did.
I tried it on my 2.08 Qtek rom. Does not work (YET as Buzz is still trying!)
This was merely a test version btw.
I flashed my Qtek s200 with the lastest dopod rom (from the ftp page) then did a soft reset just before customisation begins (preventing the extrom files from loading - I don't use MMS or smartdialing).
Copy buzznet's prophet extrom exe onto your device and run it (You should get a little popup saying "success"). I can't view the extrom files and the memory settings are still the same but my system runs a lot faster and I've gone from having to do a soft reset almost twice a day to once every 5 or 6 days!! (I run a large program thats eats up RAM).
It seems so much more stable, reponsive and quicker
Hope this helps......

This is why this stuff gets dangerous. The s200 is not the same as the Wizard from what I understand. Folks read things like this in what is a Wizard specific forum and think it's really working. On the buzzdev forums they seem to say it works on Prophet based devices and not on wizards.
That is why I asked here on a wizard specific forum about anyone having success.
From Bootloader / ROM structure perpective the Prophet and Wizard are said to be similar.
Buzz has developed his tool without any of these devices so hes still in a test phase.
Worked For me
with the last RRU Qtek IPL 2.15 Radio 2.30

Hi guys
I tried it but it gives me message that it is not a valied Pocket PC application
the ExtROM version is 2.06 from PDAMobiz.com

HIDE / SHOW ExtROM on HTC TyTN (Registry Tweak)

Hide/Show Hidden ROM (at least works on my TyTN - German ROM)
SHOWN:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\EXT_FLASHDRV] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
HIDDEN:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\EXT_FLASHDRV] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001
For me this was the default:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\EXT_FLASHDRV] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
So, I only had to change this from 1 to 0:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
Now I can see the extended rom, my device is an HTC TyTN WWE, I will post the ExtROM to FTP in a while.

Heh, youre busy one.
I added a registry tweak to change the titlebar clock to an annalog one, if someone is interested.
Hopefully we can keep the wiki growing and useful.
My default setup was also:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\EXT_FLASHDRV] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001
So I just changed to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\EXT_FLASHDRV] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
and did a soft reset. The extended rom then appeared but it was still write protected. How do I get rid of the write protection?
LJ
Use the cab file in the wiki, it unlocks and unhides ExtROM.
After using the cab fille and/or making the tweaks myself, and the are the same as described as above, the result is that I can see the ext. rom, but it is still write protected. I can't delete any file or write a file to the ext. rom. I've got a Tytn WWE. What is the problem, or better: what is the solution???
Should be wrtitable using this cab:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HERMES_MountExtROM.CAB
If it's not, then try to hard reset and then use the cab without messing with registry keys before.
Problem with Extended ROM
I have tried all the methods in the wiki and also all the reg. edit trick but I still can't see my extended ROM. When I run the cab to Mount Extended ROM it crashes my TyTN. Locks it up befor making it to the windows screen. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this or tell me where to look? I was going to mess around with bootloader but I am not that computer savy.
hard reset and install the unhider&unlcoker cab file. it should work after hard reset.
Have tried to Hard Reset my Taiwanese CHT9000 and only apply the HERMES_MountExtROM.CAB tweak, now can see the Extend ROM, but still cannot "unprotect" the ROM. Cannot make it writable. Any other methods? Like modifying the registry? Thanks a lot in advance!!

On my Vario 2, when I'm using 3G (and therefore, HSDPA) the [3G] icon is shown in the top bar (and when it connects a small connecting icon with the moving arrows and 3G in it is diplayed, next to the square 3G indicator) - when it drops back to GPRS, it just changes to [G].
Does yours not do this?

Unsure whether it works myself, as I've not tried it yet, but I'd put (a small amount of) money on it that it works
Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply!!
Unfortunately, my device is still un-protectable after following the whole process. And the registry settings I have checked are exactly the same as the described. The Extended_ROM directory is still write-protected. Couldn't add or delete files in it.
Maybe I am the unlucky one that couldn't change the extended ROM at all...
Since the digital signature security autentification for CABs in ExtROM is on by default, putting in any CAB file that is either not digitally signed, or loses its authenticity because it was modified will not be installed during the Customization phase after a hard reset.
Any ideas how to solve this problen on TyTN?
There was the soluton for the Universal devices wiht the Default_Signed_DisabledSecurity.CAB. This CAB has the right signature for Universal, but it dosn’t work on TyTN.
From this MSDN discussion about Windows Mobile 5 code signing,
"Looks like you won't have to sign the cab if wceload.exe isn't used to install it. Although if it is used to install the cab file you will need to sign it."

A possible gap? If someone could come up with a third party CAB installer that could be used during customisation, maybe it could bypass the official CAB installation procedure (and therefore the signed certificate verification) entirely? Just a thought.
For Universal this problem i think was decided here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33638&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=150) with the help of Default_Signed_DisableSecurity.CAB. But this CAB not work on my TyTN. I think it because of wrong digital sign.

new QTek S200 (Swisscom Branded, Switzerland)

Hiho,
I'm pretty new with my QTEK, and wanted to know if its possible to install a new non-branded (well not Swisscome Provider specific tools etc.) ROM for my Device? Here are so many I dont know which I should take.
And I would be fine with a clear ROM, not tons of "unless" tools, except the usuals...
Settings->Hardware:
CPU: OMAP850
Speed: 195 MHz
RAM size: 64mb
Flashsize: 128mb
Any hints I would like, before I make my QTEK buggy
I'm from switzerland, if anywant to explain me somestuff, could take me on msn: [email protected]
TIA
Oli
Hi Oli.
Welcome to the forum.
The first thing you can try to clean up your device is to get rid of the ext ROM stuff.
Extended ROM is where cell company customization usually comes from.
There are two ways of doing it:
1) The simplest is hard reset your device (power + comm manager + camera + reset) then soft reset if before the 3 sec countdown of the installation ends. Just reset it quickly once you are done with the 'welcome' screen.
2) Search the forum. There is a simple registry tweak that will let you unhide your ext ROM and delete it's content. (Make sure you back it up to PC first, since hard reset will not restore it)
If you do this tweak you can also use your ext ROM as a little storage card.
Thanks,
Trying around now, search fuction doesent work to look the reg tweaks.
Also I got a ROM which I want to install:
GER_RUU_Prophet_215742_2157131_023021_QTEK
but I always get the Vendor ID Error, I also tried some unlocking tools.

Response: 200 Switching to Binary mode.
Command: PORT 192,168,1,102,13,143
Response: 200 PORT command successful. Consider using PASV.
Command: STOR GER_RUU_Prophet_215742_2157131_023021_QTEK.exe

Ok, here are the reg tweaks:
Show extended ROM:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000002
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000000
Hide extended ROM:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "Bootphase"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\Profiles\TRUEFFS_DOC1] "MountHidden"=dword:00000001
@purp
it would be really nice if you could upload the rom.

infos about the new rom
@purp
could you finally install the new rom? and is it possible to get infos about the changes in this new rom? i extracted the file and there are no information about the changes, so maybe it could be helpful to know why this file was sent to your friend...
thanks for the file anyway

regarding the extrom...

hello everyone!
i am running wm06 for a while now and have to admit, its fckng great!
i upgraded from wm2003 directly to wm06, so its like two different worlds...
but when i was upgrading, i did not manage to merge the extrom with the rest of the storage, the unhide and unlock thing just didn't work!
but as i am now sure, that i wont need to roll back to 2003 again, merging the extrom with the rest of the storage would only make it better, no disadvantages, am i right?
or am i needing the extrom in wm06?
how is it used in wm06?
or is it just wasted space....?
as u can easily see, i am still a little confused about all that....
here are some specs from my device:
ROM Version: 5.60.00 WWE
ROM Date: 03/02/05
Radio Version: 1.15.00
Protocol Version: 1337.45
ExtROM Version: - (nothing here...??? is that bad??)
STORAGE:
total: 42,92MB
in use: 28,26MB
free: 14,66MB
PROGRAM:
total: 109,12MB
in use: 40,23MB
free: 68,90MB
thx for any help,
regards,
krz
ExtROM: Extended ROM - is the section of the ROM which the distributor of the phone (eg O2, T-Mobile, iMate, etc) store their customization (eg Today theme, ring tones, extra software) data.
In WM2003 you may found your phone having hardreset quite often - thats because WM2003 use RAM as program-storage (RAM lose everything when battery is drained)
In WM5/6 you are not using RAM as a storage anymore thus not performing hardreset often (typically once during flash)
By performing ExtROM merge, you're going to have extra MB in storage. There is NO DISADVANTAGE.
Those who prefer to have an ExtROM for whatever reason (they may HardReset their phone quite often because of testing/developing/whatever) place the "ExtROM" folder in Storage Card (Memory card/SD/MMC) and after HR it gets installed as usual. Or you can install fixes and addons "one by one".
Read more information here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand
----
To sum it up :
You dont need to merge your ExtROM (it cost you some MB)
* How to merge / is here : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardMain
thx a lot for your answer, kerio...!!
if i understood you right, the EXTROM is of NO USE at all in WM06.
so if not merged before upgrading, it will be just invisible and unused space.... am i right?
if so, i would of course prefer to merge the EXTROM with the rest of the storage to gain more free megabytes....
will the total storage size be 60,3MB after merging, like i have seen in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326515 ?!?
is it possible to merge the EXTROM after having WM06 installed?
can i merge EXTROM without reinstalling WM06 and all programs?
btw: unhiding and unlocking is NOT working on my device....
when clicking UNHIDE, nothing happens,
when clicking UNLOCK i get the following error:
Code:
ERROR: FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION - The parameter is incorrect.
what am i doing wrong??
i know, that are a lot of questions, but i would be very thankful if someone could help me with that...
thx in advance!
regards,
krz
bump bump
I would also be interested if somebody suuggests new solutions for "big storage" as my device does accept unlock and unhide, but when using "repart_DOC.exe" it gives me errors and eosn't repartition the ROM...
Downgrade to WM2003 , play da game and flash to wm6
Xeon's got the idea. You will need to to downgrade to WM2003, unlock, unhide and repartition the extrom. Once complete then flash up to the WM6.
I had to do the same thing, as I had not correctly repartitioned the extrom when I moved up too WM5. Good luck.
hello and thx a lot for all your ansers!
how many MBs will I gain from merging EXTROM?
and is there a way to use that space without merging?
anyone knows??
i have wm2003 and i can't unhide , unlock, or format doc, cos everytime i'm trying i can see , FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION the parameter is incorrect, can anyone help me?

We got the point now.
Advise the wiki should be revised as so many people are confusing about the ExtROM.
Thanks
Dear tangwd898,
lol
Have you ever read the wiki? Could you give me the parts where "you must revert back to WM2003" is missing?

Dear kerio,
I did read the Wiki regarding the ExtROM for more than 3 three times, I can't get any informations that we can't modify the ExtROM in OS wm5.0 or wm6.0 from the thread - Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM:-
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_Understand
Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM
The Extended ROM is shipped as ms_.nbf and loaded with the BaUpgradeUt.exe
The ms_.nbf is extracted during the Upgrade and written to folder \Extended_Rom
The \Extended_Rom folder is hidden and read only
The Extended ROM can un hidden with the following tool Unlock tool
The Extended ROM is limited to 16MB in size
The Numbering of the Extended ROM is operator dependent:
Thus a QTEK version 1.22.225 might or might not have higher patches than a I-Mate version 1.22.62
Extended ROMs are built around the major OS release (1.22, 1.31)
It is NOT advisable to install cabs from a Extended ROM if the Windows Mobile 2003 Version are not the same
It is NOT advisable to install patches if the CE versions (1.22, 1.31) are different.
(They might have already been included in that CE version.)
Execution of the Extended ROM
CheckAutorun.exe (which is started from \Windows\Startup\CheckAutorun.lnk) executes the AutoRun.exe
AutoRun.exe is found in the \Extended_Rom Folder
AutoRun.exe reads the \Extended_Rom\Config.txt and executes the commnands in that file
The pointer for AutoRun.exe HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRun is set to \Extended_ROM\AutoRun
The pointer for Config.txt HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\AutoRunCFG is set to \Extended_ROM\AutoRunCFG
The Touch screen is disabled by the first command (TPDisable.exe)in the Config.txt
The Touch screen is enabled by the 2nd to last command (TPEnable.exe)in the Config.txt
The last Command of the config.txt (RST) performs a soft reset
Content of the Extended ROM
The Extended ROM consists of System files (TPDisable.exe, TPEnable.exe, AutoRun.exe, Config.txt)
The Extended ROM consists of *.CAB installation files
The installation files fall into the following types
Applications: Album, Fax, Zip
Patches for the Hardware: Button9 on the Hardware Keyboard
Patches for the software: Blue tooth upgrade
Provider specific files and programs: Splash screen, Internet Explorer defaults, telco settings, etc.
Effects of a Hard Reset
A Hard Reset will NOT re-extract the ms_.nbf
A Hard Reset will reload the contents of the \Extended_Rom folder
A Hard Reset will reload the OS and thus also clean the registry
Why is this of interest to me?
The Extended ROM can be cooked (Customize the ROM to your own liking)
What ever you put in the \Extended_Rom folder will remain even after a Hard Reset
The \Storage will not be overwritten on a Hard Reset
Thus one is able to keep CAB files on \Storage for automatic reinstallation after a Hard Reset
You can keep your "customized" Extended ROM and only perform a OS or Radio Upgrade

"you must revert back to WM2003" - may be found at other threads but i think this thread "Understanding the Blue Angle Extended ROM" should include this message.
Thank you.
I dont think so
When performing upgrade you should follow the instruction (WM5 and WM6 pages) when you dont - then you may find yourself in trouble.
1. The main page is only for WM2003
2. Error message -> google -> sollution (30sec)
3. You can add it to the wiki (anyone can)

I still have some questions:-
- Why my *.cab files in the extROM folder all missing after i done a hard Reset?
- How to keep all *.cab files in the ExtROM folder after the hard reset?
Thank you.
Guys and Gals
The BA Wiki was started over 2 years or more ago by a new guy on the forum who trying to work out how to get his German MDAIII flashed with an English rom.
He wrote it in order that the information was found in one place as he found it hard to find it in all the threads, this finding problem is still true today.
Well as you see times have changed and the porblems of WM5 and WM6 were not know at that time and as you also see not many people have bothered to invest time back into documneting in wiki. Its become more of a get and ***** about wiki not being updated than a give back some of the time in searching the threads and update wiki for the next person.
Some were in the begining it says if you don't like what you read then fix it.
This is best done by those people that are going through the learning curve as they read Wiki and they should beable to correct / add / embelish on what is written and what needs to be said.
Its a thought.

Misson impossible is that type of Cab file that is no longer there after a hard reset (or when they are executed) as they delete themselves.
Change the properties to read only will solve that.
Check out the kitchen
