Animated GIF using Photo Contacts caller ID - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi all,
I noticed it is possible to use an animated GIF as an image using Photo Contacts.
The default animation when somebody calls (the yellow-orange phone image) seems an animated GIF to me, but I wasn't able to find it in the file system.
I thought, using this image as a Photo ID, I am able to increase the font size of the caller notification window used by Photo Contacts.
Does anybody knows where to find this image (if possible), or knows a good animated GIF replacement to use whith Photo Contacts?

the orginal files/gifs can be found at
\My Documents\IA Caller ID Photos
the .DEF files are renamed gif files...

Thanx alot!

font size
Can you tell us in details how you managed to change the caller id font size?

why not take a look here... and here...

Click to collapse
Start menu > Programs > Photo Contacts
Then, for every contact, set the background image to whatever image (I renamed the CONTACTS.DEF file to a contacts.gif file), and associate every contact with this image.
Then you can specify the Caller ID format, including font, size and color
It is a workaround, but it works for me

Animated gif
I know this is an old thread but i am still using my xda 2s with windows 2003se.
i have installed photo contacts pro 5.8 and it is working welll but i am unable to get it to play any animated gifs.
Whenever i assign a photo it seems to change it to a jpg,Anybody got any advice,i have been searching for ages for an answer to this
If i install caller id by htc that will play gifs so i assuming its a problem with photo contacts pro.

Setting wallpaper from Album Slideshow

Have you tried setting the wallpaper through the Album? I'm fond of using the slideshow in viewing pictures because pictures look better in slideshow view, right?
Now, i want it to be set as wallpaper from the slideshow mode, is that possible? it just looks good in slideshow mode, and i want the wallpaper to look just as how it is displayed in slideshow mode. Is it possible?
sounds like the slideshow thingy have a better resizing algotitme then just using today picture have
i sugest that you take the picture to your pc and work on it there with resizing and such and take it back to the xda and use it as "wallpapir"
the slideshow on the device cant do anything "magic" which programs on a pc cant do much better
Thanks rudegar,
Whats the image size of XDA wallpaper/screen (pixels/inch)? So lets say I already have edited it on my PC and uploaded back to XDA. how will I set it as wallpaper? the last time I used the Today option, it made my picture translucent, why is that? is there any feature there where we could stretch the wallpaper to fit the screen?
there is some registry setting which remove the translucent thing
i dont recall it though try search the forum
i would try some of the today theme creator programs they make it all pretty easy

Wallpaper Smoked

No matter what .tsk file I use, when I use the option in the settings to display image as baccground. It's always grayed out which seriously makes the pic look crappy. I know I can just use a load of different .tsk files but I don't want to do it that way. I want to be able to change the baccgroud pic at anytime with having it smoked out with some gray transparent layer.
Is the a registry hacc I can do to stop it?
I don't know if there is a registry hack but at least, there is a workaround. Instead of using the today applet to select your background picture, you can use the Pictures & Videos app. Select the picture you like, there is a menu item to set a the selectted picture asToday background just set the transparency level at 0% and you are set
Thanks. Works perfectly.
Glad I helped, but actually you got me thinking. So, I tried to figure out if there was not a way of setting the transparency level via a registry hack as you suggested. I didn't find anything because it's not stored in registry.
What actually happens when you choose a background picture is that wm5 creates 2 pictures (stwater_240_320 and stwater_320_240) in the \windows folder. So instead of relying on the today applet or on the pictures and videos app, what you could do is delete these 2 pictures, then copy your homemade pictures in the \windows folder and rename theme to the above mentionned names. It should let us have a different image when in landscape mode instead of a cropped one. The 240_320 has to be 240x268 and the 320x240 340x188. Why 268 and 188 instead of 320 and 240 ? Because the taskbar and the menubar are 26 pixels wide and (2x26) + 268 = 340 !

newbie problem in changing wallpaper of today

when i change the wallpaper of today using the
default option (the box below theme selection)
the wallpaper get whiten (just like the theme set transparency to 30% or so)
i try different theme also have this problem
What can i do? thx
Browse to the picture you like to use as wallpaper with the file explorer. Open the picture and choose "Set as Today Background..." with transparency 0%.
use pictures and videos menu,>send to today bckground
change the transparancy there
or use a_cs s2v which is the best free image viewer and save to desktop
that prog allows you to save much higher quality contact pictures as well
Done, thank you very much ^^b

Animated contact id

There's a way to get animated contact picture which is pretty cool and isn't on s7/edge.
You record a gif go to contact photo and change to the gif and this is animated in contact details plus if you pull contact pic down in contact list you get full screen and also you get animated contact icon when getting call from person you assign gif to.
That's a really cool idea! Does it actually exist on any phone right now?

That is brilliant! Thanks for the find
Was thinking now i need to redo a picture (well GIF), then realised i can edit my camera roll using the GIF capture tool - NICE.
Download Animated Photo plugin from Galaxy Apps for the stock camera. It Captures in GIF from the stock Camera, and then can be applied as a contact image. Tested and works.
However, The annoying fact is - S8 doesn't display Full Screen Images of contacts for incoming calls.
