ORA-12541: TNS:no listener in debugging mode of sql developer
My oracle database sits on the a unix restricted server. I have to use putty with ssh tunnel setup to connect to other server first. Then I can use Toad or Plsql in my XP windows to connect to the database. When I use SQLDeveloper, I have no problem to connect. I can view all the tables and procedures in the database. However, when I use the debug, I have the following errors. Could somebody have any idea how to correct this? I have tried both basic and tns and the result is the same. onnecting to the database YPGFPTOTBE01_Test_rhatora2 . Executing PL/SQL: ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_DEBUG=TRUE Executing PL/SQL: CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '127.0.0.1', '3021' ) ORA-30683: failure establishing connection to debugger ORA-12541: TNS:no listener ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP", line 68 ORA-06512: at line 1
Is sql developer installed on your local client or the remote database server? The IP address the debugger should be connecting to is the host machine of the database. In addition to that, you have to make sure you're using a port that isn't being blocked. I was going nuts trying to figure out why I could connect to the XE Database I had running on my laptop but not the dev server. Finally somebody from network support verified that the windows firewall was blocking the port range I was trying to use.
Actually, it's the other way around: the database should be able to contact your PC at the supplied IP and port range. As your IP isn't recognized automatically, provide it manually at least once by checking Preferences - Debugger - Prompt for Debugger Host. Hope that helps, K.
Whoops, brain fart. I was thinking "the real IP address of your machine, not the loopback" and is somehow came out as server.
Are you trying to use local debugging or remote debugging?
I have tried but come back with the same error message. I used VPN to connect. I don't understand is why I can access my packages and procedures in SQL Developer but I cannot use debugger. I don't know which part I do it wrong. Could you help?
I am trying to use local debugger. What I did was to connect to database in SQLDeveloper and then to select one of my procedures in the database, finally to compile with debug option. When I run the procedure in the SQLDeveloper, it finishes successfully. I only have problem in debugger.
Then some firewall is probably blocking traffic from the server to your PC. Ask your network admin to open up traffic and test in a terminal that the DB server can reach your PC. Hope that helps, K.
