Unlock bootloader? - Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Questions & Answers

I tried everything to unlock bootloader in Black shark 2 Global Version i enabled OEM unlocking on the developer options and then tried fastboot flashing unlock and fastboot oem unlock with adb, and the "error says unlock is not allowed on device has sales on market!", we need to unlock the bootloader there is a post in this forum who have patched the boot.img, so if the boot.img is correct unlock the bootloader is the last step to finally root the Black shark 2.
Any ideas?

There's a link to a forum about the black shark 1, where they encroached the same issues, error message you've described. A user has included instructions on how to bypass/get round it with photos in the post. But it only worked with the global ROM. And it's a different devise but might be worth looking at if you want as much info as possible that might help.
Before you do anything an brick your devise tho, I would recommend an air of caution.
I will pm you the link because I don't know if linking other sites is against the rules of the forum

[How to] flash Global to China Mi6 without UBL

I bought the MI6 and find out that without tools or unlock bootloader, there is no way to flash a global rom to china rom. My Mimax convenient EDL cannot be used in Mi6.
Unlock is easy, but since mine is new and under warranty, i prefer a Xiaomi rom.
Luckily i fond this tool:
https://drive.google.com/uc?export=download&id=0BwypTnSm1wlhTkp0ai1LUXZKdkk
Credit to the dev http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=663972&highlight=xiaomitool
Download this, run, and follow the screen.
it will check your boot, recovery, then list the rom that possible to install.
Choose global, lets it download, choose recovery and the tool do the rest.
Thank you. I will give it a try on " bricked" mi5 and new mi6.
This tool make unlock bootloader automatically... so your warranty is gone after

Did it work on Mi5? I would like to flash my Mi5 with locked bootloader
Ok it works
It is not working locked bootloader
Just ask for permission to unlock bootloader, usually takes a week or so. Unlock > flash > lock again. No need to experiment with some tools or whatnot official.

I don't know what device you have but probably the Engineering Flash Cable will work.
Follow that topic and maybe you will be good. Good luck.

I already had been using the phone for long enough, the permission took 4 hours to go through. Never been an active user of their services either.
Actually I am looking for a way to wipe whole partition as my second-hand mi6 is binding with a mi account which is not mine.
Flashing in EDL mode is easy to flash any official from you want but asking to unlock the device after setting up.
Though there is some tricks can be done to bypass the checking, I cannot log on my mi account or even restart device.
I had just had a tried as this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/installing-twrp-locked-bootloader-t3406501
To flash TWRP directly by MiFlash. But fail to boot in it with a 'the system has been corrupted'.
Just wanna give more ways to flash or unlock with the limitation of officially unlock BL

Bootloader unlock without unlock code from Huawei

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader without the unlock code coming from Huawei itself?
I want to unlock the bootloader. Many pages on the web (and on this forum as well) say I need to get the unlock code from huawei, but... it seems that huawei is not collaborative any more: Honor/Huawei’s bootloader unlock page disappears with no explanation
Can I work it out without the code?
Actually, what I really want to do is...
Actually, what I really want to do is...: install a different firmware.
I'm a real noob in the world of modding & custom rom.
As far as I understand, unlocking bootloader is required in order to install a different ROM: is it right? or can I install it somehow even with bootloader locked? Also, can I root the P8 without unlocking the bootloader?
My P8 is on the latest firmware I recently received OTR from Huawei: GRA-L09C02B405. The phone is starting to have some problems: hight battery drenage, UI freezing and rebooting from time to time.
I'd like to install a previous version of Huawei official firmware, or different a custom ROM (I read about some of them in this forum: any suggestion?). But as far a I understand, unlocking bootloader is required, and it seems that without the code from Huawei I'm blocked
Ik zit met de zelfde vraag, ook mijn P8 kan ik niet unlocken website van Huawei met deze optie is verdwenen.
I have the same question, also my P8 I can't unlock Huawei's website with this option is gone.
You now have to contact Huawei and request it, providing IMEI, SN, Product Code, Model, and reason why you wish to unlock it.
Here is a link to contact the UK (most people say this is more successful than others) :- https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/contact-us/
Thanks @Sparkrite, I will try that way.
Can you help me also with my second post in this thread? I mean, do I have to unlock the bootloader in order to flash a custom rom and / or to root the phone?

For both, yes, you need to unlock your phone. For rooting, you have to flash a new boot.img, and for a custom ROM you have to flash the system.img too.
Without the unlocked bootloader you are unable to flash the images /partitions

For both NO, however it tends to be a bit easier if the bootloader is unlocked. Some third party rooting apps may or may not work, depending on what version OS you have installed, without changing the recovery partition.
However it is usually easier to root by flashing with TWRP etc. which necessitates an unlocked bootloader to allow you to flash the said recovery.img and then flashing SU.zip for example.
The same goes for flashing a system.img ( does not need an unlocked bootloader ) eg. use fastboot mode and an ADB shell or even DLOAD if it has the correct signatures. The caveat is that most if not all custom ROMs use a proprietary boot.img so an unlocked BL will be required in this case.
Hope that clears it up for you.

I asked Huawei for the code, now I'm waiting for reply.
So, if I understand correctly, even without unlocking bootloader I should be able to flash a previous version of an official firmware, ain't it? I can consider that option if I don't get the code from Huawei
Thanks a lot, you are being really helpful
Bootloader unlocking is not needed for upgrading official firmware, unfortunately, normally it is a completely different matter when trying to downgrade .

So, it seems that I really need Huawei help to do something more or less useful for me. They made something such a "unhackable" phone which can be hacked only with their support. And more or less every other vendor I assume.
Quite weird I think.
AFAIK Huawei are/were the only vendors that made it so easy to unlock the BL, esp. when their code generator was online.
Have you heard back from them yet, some people report getting the code within 12 hours ?

I got a first mail the day after I wrote, with them asking to add the reason for the code request.
This morning I answered them them that I wanted to play with root rights & custom rom, and that I was aware of the risks implied.
now (6 hours later) they sent me the code.
Quite a good support I'd say

Problem when re-locking

I need to relock the bootloader, but the fastboot oem lock command doesn't work saying
C:\G5>fastboot oem lock

OKAY [ 0.002s]

But that option is greyed out. I'm on POTTER_NPN25.137-92 Stock ROM with unlocked bootloader (XT1686).

Because that isn't how you lock the bootloader on Moto devices... you can't just lock your bootloader on the fly, it can only be down with a full factory image flash. In your case, it is something like this:
'fastboot oem lock ' <get prompted to make sure you want to this and enter command again>
'fastboot oem lock'
Then fastboot flash the full factory image of NPN25.137-92 or newer ROM for your device, including all wipes, and end it with
`fastboot oem lock` - but this will only work if you used oem lock at the beginning and in conjunction with a complete image flash.
There are tutorials on here how to do it, a little research in the forums here will yield a couple different tutorials.
BTW, it is well known that relocking the bootloader on the Moto G5 series is problematic... Sometimes it doesn't work, and sometimes it bricks.
Remember that regardless of if you relock or not, the bootloader unlock warning screen will always be there, and the bootloader will never go back to Status 0 - Locked, it will become Status 2 - Relocked so it is still a clear indication the phone was modified at one point.
After a lot of Googling I was able to find the solution. Had to search high and low for it, finally found the relevant information in the Oneplus 5 subforums. What I needed to do was flash Magisk and then the OEM unlock option becomes usable again. For anyone facing a similar issue, flash either stock or a stock-based rom along woth Magisk and enable OEM unlock in the dev options and the you should be able to re-lock.

It's funny how you automatically assumed that I didn't see any of the 3 or 4 guides posted in here and just straight-up made a thread to beg for help. Obviously I flashed a stock firmware before beginning the locking process (and after it too), but as I clearly mentioned in the OP, the problem was that due to the Allow OEM switch being disabled and greyed out, the 'fastboot oem lock' command was not doing its thing. Had it worked properly, it'd tell me to proceed with flashing the system chunks, but it didn't. So yeah, what you said wasn't really helpful. Thanks anyway for taking the time to reply. Just please don't assume w/o any evidence that someone is so ignorant as to not read a guide and beg for answers. There are many people like me who only lurk and do everything by following tutorials and only ever post if all else fails.

If you haven't changed anything in /system or /vendor and your device is stock unrooted there's no problem with OTA updates. If you flashed the stock logo.bin everything is ok even when it shows BL is unlocked.

Look and unlock bootloader with official method

In other posts there is procedure , for device with bootloader unlocked with unofficial method, for look and unlook officially, but is confused and in other arguments.
Is possible have this post for this argument, with clear guide , because I think is important question.
This maybe procedure:
1. miflash to official China Beta rom first. Flash without relock.
1b. Download from PC VPN app, install on phone and set connection to China. Then you are able to active usb developer options
2. re-lock bootloader with official China Beta rom. Flash and relock.
3. unlock bootloader again with official China Beta rom. Need to tie up with Mi account and insert a SIM card. For me, need to wait for 720 hours before MM3 can be unlocked. I checked chinese miui forum. This apparently is a new requirement. One full month later. Gosh...
4. miflash to official Global rom and stop there.
5. Do not re-lock bootloader with official Global rom""
I don't try this procedure......
What's the point of looking the bootloader just to get it unlocked again after whatever hours waiting!?
Do you experience problems with the device being unlocked unofficialy? Or this is just another "good advice/info" coming from MIUI forums...
Be happy somebody already took care of that and enjoy the unlocked bootloader freedom you get.

The device comes unlocked but your Mi account has not permission to unlock this specific device because you never followed the official unlock procedure.
Xiaomi with its new policy does not let you use a Chinese version of a phone with a global rom and a locked bootloader. If you flash the global rom and for some reason the bootloader gets locked, your phone will stuck on the recovery with the following message "this miui version cannot be installed on this device", at this stage you must unlock the bootloader to be able to boot again, if the bootloader was unlocked officialy with you own account, you can use the mi unlock tool to unlock again and make the phone bootable, if the bootloader was unofficialy unlocked or unlocked by other account, in this case you can't unlock with the Mi unlock tool, you can't flash another rom since the bootloader is locked, you can't follow the official unlock procedure because you are stuck in recovery, the only solution is to use the test point method with EDL authorized account
Ok, I guess sounds reasonable for majority of the users.
But me personally? I could care less...
You can backup bootloader unlocked status and restore it if locked by accident...

And no, EDL is not locked, it's not Xiaomi's feature to lock it, it's Qualcomm business... MiFlash is locked which is irrelevant... Who needs their stupid front end when you can use Qualcomm tools...

There is no way to apply for unlock without a bootable phone, He must go to Developer options -> Mi Unlock status -> Add account and device but this is not possible because the phone is stuck in recovery.
The only solution right now is to use the test-point method to flash the chinese rom.

Someone I helped fastboot flash China 8.8.9 mistakenly did this and was able to boot. Is Global rom entirely different in this situation?

Yes, it's different
chinese device + global rom + locked bootloader = stuck in recovery

Oh right, now I remember. This was that very big announcement. Completely forgot. Thanks for the reminder. Yes, then test point is the only option, unfortunately.
Again, this was why I urged people to steer clear of global and stick to Eu roms. More harm than good especially related to such situations (many new flashers accidentally locking bootloaders).

There is no way to apply for unlock without a bootable phone, He must go to Developer options -> Mi Unlock status -> Add account and device but this is not possible because the phone is stuck in recovery.

Thank you so much guys for your feedback, for now I have the flowing questions:
1- the phone is stuck in recovery mode, how I shutdown the phone.
2- If I wait for Xiaomi to launch MAX3 officially in y country do you think they will be able to help me even with charged service?
3- can any of you expert guys direct me to some useful link to see how do it use the test-point method.
4- If I succeeded to unlock the bootloader through the test-point method, is it mandatory to flash the Chinese version or I can flash global Rom and keep the bootloader unlocked.
thank you in advance for your time.

1. Hold power and volume down until boots to fastboot mode, leave it and it should turn off automatically after few seconds.
3. You can find some information scattered to the following threads

4. With the test-point method you can flash the chinese rom even if the bootloader is locked, after succesfully flashing the china rom you have to apply for official unlock, after getting the unlock permission you can flash global rom by leaving the bootloader unlocked.
XiaomiTool official page is proposing another solution but you need to wait for a global dev rom to be released and it is not guaranteed to work
If you get the message "this miui can't be installed on this device" and your device is bricked you might be able to recover it using xiaomiadb by first installing global developer and then installing china developer OF SAME VERSION (for example 8.8.16->8.8.16) using "xiaomiadb sideload_miui -otarom CurrentRom [ZIP_ROM_FILE]"

hello all, if someone can help me, i have my mi max3 with locked bootloader.
now i dont have any rom on it so trying to load a rom but getting an error ERASE is not allowed in locked state
what rom can i flash on it ?
tried to unlock bootloader via the tool, it gets stuck at 50% cannot verify phone.
had the same problem, was able to recover it with the test point method and flashing chinese rom, and switching to english language.
the procedure is described here:
https://androidfilebox.com/tips/edl-test-point-mode-redmi-note-4x/
the installation process of the qualcom drivers is special.
you have to open te backcover, which is very special too, dont forget to the 2 mini screws at the usb port and the drawer on the side . search and look on youtube.
look further, where the testpoints are on the mi max3
follow strictly the procedure, load and double extract the chinese rom for the mi max 3.
It is real work, and real danger that you break something mechanical, one shoud have a calm hand and a lot of patience, but for me all went good and the phone spang to live again.
Another solution could be this, but I have no experience with it:

unlocking the bootloader is simple, it works exactly with the black shark helo, you enable the unlock in the developer section and then I have it in fastboot mode and you send the command "fastboot oem unlock" the smartphone will restart and make a factory reset and you will have the bootloader unlocked

Also here is a full guide to unlock Black Shark 2 and seems to be effective
Steps To Unlock Bootloader On Xiaomi Black Shark 2
1.) First Of We Need To Enable Developer Options
For That Go To Settings >> About Phone >> Now Tap On MIUI Version 6-7 Times
2.) Now Go Back >> Go To Advanced Settings >> Developer Options >> Enable OEM Unlocking & Tap On Mi Unlock Status
These Things You Have To Do It On Your PC/ Laptop
3.) Go To This Link >> Then You Will See MIUI Page Tap On Unlock Now >> Now Fill The Form To Get The Permission From Xiaomi
4.) Once You Applied you will get an OTP sent to your phone, Enter that OTP on your PC >> Then Hit Next. So, this way your application gets submitted
Now You Have To Wait Until You Get A Message On Your Phone Saying “You Are Eligible To Unlock The Bootloader”
Now Follow The Unlocking Procedure
6.) Once You Got The Message >> Next You Need To Download Mi Unlock Tool & Extract It
7.) After That Just Power Off The Device,>> Now Press & Hold Volume Down + Power Button At The Same Time To Boot Into Fastboot Mode
8.) Once Your Are In Fastboot Mode >> Connect Your Phone To PC/Laptop
9.) Now Open (Mi Unlock Tool) From Your PC/Laptop
10.) Next Click On Agree & Next Enter Your Mi-Account Username, Password And Sign In
Use Same Mi Account Details Which You Already Login Into Your Phone To Unlock Bootloader
11.) Hit Next >> After That Tap On Unlock
12.) Once The Process Is Done Tap On Reboot
13.) That’s It ? You Have Successfully Unlock Bootloader Of Xiaomi Black Shark 2
For tutorial link, you can PM me, i can't post it publicly to avoid any moderator ban
Update : **
No any solution above has worked with me, seems there is no active solution for unlocking boot loader of BS2. even developer around all sites doesn't offer effective solution.
The only 2 messages that you will get when you use adb are :
adb>fastboot flashing unlock
Error : Unlock is not allowed on device has sales on market!
adb>fastboot oem unlock
Error, Unknown command
Even MI tool couldn't unlock the bootloader, If Kanded can give a solution as he is a skilled member so it will be great help

Agree. I'm planning to switch to Red Magic 3 because there really is no sign of development on this device.

Black Shark is independent of Xiaomi when it comes to the software development. Their team just have to release the kernel source then that's when the real thing starts. Sadly though, the Black Shark team is very lousy and their support is very poor so let's just expect that this device will get stuck to Android Pie, like what happened to Black Shark 1 which development is "dead".
