somebody please help - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I'm trying out voice command with my s9's and it's reall cool. One problem i have is that if i press the button on my s9's and say help, it wont do anything. But if i say dial or call, that's the only thing it does. So i went to the options and checked announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only and it did work. I had it on the announce notifications using bt hands free if availabe which didn't work. I tried that patch for announcing calls and it works great. Now i need it to announce stuff on my headset, how can i do this? Also, when i press the button on my headset, it seems that i have to use the phone's mic to make announcements and i want to use the headsets mic.

Cingular 8525 and Motorola H700 BT headset

Hi All: I have paired the headset fine with my phone and made calls before but I can not switch a call from the handset to the headset while a call is already in progress. Once I end the call, I can pair the headset fine to make a NEW call but I'm having problems switching the call when it is already in progress. I can go to the phone and manually switch it to hands free but I thought that if I powered on the headset while a call was already in progress, that would route the conversation from the handset to the headset. Is that correct or can it not do this without some tweaking? Thanks.
I have the same setup and I can answer the call on the phone, then "open" the H700 and the phone re-directs the call thru the headset within about 2 seconds from opening the headset.
If I'm on the headset, I can press and hold the call button on the H700 and the call goes on hold. I can "close" the headset and then un-hold the phone using the touch screen and resume the call on the 8525.
Now I believe that the standard bluetooth stack is crap, and I have had many instances where the phone just stops linking the Bluetooth. I can usually restore the link just by using the comm manager to turn off the bluetooth radio, then turning it back On. I have even done this during a call and it worked.
I have always had solid, loud audio with the H700, BUT, several callers have mentioned that my voice was often clipping a word every few seconds. I don't know what that's all about.
Do you know whether you need to select any special settings or do anything special in the pairing setup with the phone or headset? I do not know how to have the conversation directed to the headset after turning it on when I am already on the call. It works fine to start a new call or to answer a call directly through the headset but can't join a call in progress. Would appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

Voice Command Over Bluetooth

Voice Command 1.6 seems to be a bit of a nightmare and i have given up on my hermes for now.
My trinity though is almost ok, the only thing that doesnt work is when i push the voice button on the headset the sound comes out the phone speaker.
If i use the button on the phone though the sound comes out the headset.
How can i change the action of the button on the bluetooth headset to do what the button on the device is doing.
Thanks all.
Rob.

FYI I use a SonyEricsson stereo BT headset and I don't experience this problem.
Rjefferis, I experience the same problem as you.
I have a Jabra JX10 headset.
Confirmation voice always comes out of phone speaker, not headphone... and irritatingly, it takes microphone readings from the phone body too. Kind of defeating the idea of hands free voice dialling.

Yeah this seems to be the problem on the hermes too. On mine it works correctly if i use the voice dial button on the phone. So the button on the headset and the button on the phone must be calling slightly different functions. All i need to know is what reg key i have to edit to make the headset button do the same as the phone one.
Try yours to see whether it works using the phone button. I think maybe my a2dp is getting involved somewhere as well.
There is an option about Notifications and Bluetooth devices in the Voice command settings... does this solve you problem?
Not for me.
It is set to read only through handsfree. I havent got my headset here, so I will see what happens if I switch it to the opposite like rjefferis implied.
yeah i doesnt make a difference using the options in voice command.
I think maybe when i push the button on the phone it works through the a2dp to the headset which obviously it shouldnt be.
When i use a non stereo headset then i think it always comes out the phone no matter what.
There are a number of threads regarding this issue and some semi-working fixes to get initiating a voice call through a mono bluetooth headset.
The problem seems to be a difference in the trinity passing audio through the audio gateway using a mono bluetooth headset. Not sure if this is a problem with the implentation of Microsoft's bluetooth stack on the TyTn/Trinity but I'm assuming that's the case.
According to Microsoft's Voice Command site, they indicate that the TyTn (put the Trinity in the same situation) passes audio through the device speaker. They also make note that devices running Windows Mobile build prior to 15097.3.0.0 will pass announcements through the device speaker. This leads me to believe that Microsoft fixed audio to a mono bluetooth headset but I've seen lot's of messages from people running roms higher than this version who still have the problem so sounds like HTC hasn't implemented it.
I've sent emails to HTC who indicate that it's a 3rd party program and there is no guarentee they will fix it as it's a Microsoft problem. I haven't been able to get word from Microsoft if it is being fixed but from their website, seems both parties are passing the buck on this one.
Considering HTC's lack of commitment in releasing updates for their branded products and the delay, we probably won't see another rom after their first release for a while if any since they seem more committed to releasing new products increase their bottom line without keeping their current customers happy. So if it's not in their upcoming rom update and Microsoft isn't releasing a fix, we could be waiting a while. I'd recommend anyone who cares about this issue to send an email to HTC Support. You'll get the generic response but hopefully if enough people complain about it, a fix might fall into their update

Bluetooth Handsfree problem: answering from the handset

HI all,
I got a t-mobile Vario II and have a plantronics 655 handsfree. I have searched the forum but found nothing that answers my problem.
I want to be able to answer a call from the phone and when the handsfree is paired the sound to come through the handsfree. I have tried a few handsfree kits but none seem to work and all the calls come through the phone until i pull the handsfree out of my ear hit answer n put it back in. Am i missing something? I want to be able to answer a call from the phone and talk through my handsfree. When i make a phone call however from the phone it works fine and the sound comes through the handsfree like it should.
I read something about a handsfree profile...where is that? i don't have a handsfree profile option on my phone. Is it an add-on. I tried the handsfree with my ericsson phone and when u answer from the phone it asks if i want the audio through the handset or the handsfree..
hellpppppp...its driving me madd lol
I Take it no one knows the answer to this or has created a patch? Does everyone answer there phone from the answer button on the bluetooth handsfree then? ??
What you are trying to do, is contrary to the feature designed into your dialer. When you answer the phone call from the phone instead of the connected headset, you obviously wanted to talk via the phone not the headset so that is where it routes the call. You can get it back to the headset after you answered on your phone by selecting the menu option and selecting "Turn Handsfree On".
similar issue
I have an ATT branded 8525, and a Motorola H550.
I'm using the built in voice dialer, as I really don't feel like shelling out any more money for voice commander, when I'm paying for the spb products I have (pocketplus, mobile shell, and phone suite).
With other phones, I could use the phone (by hand) to dial a number, while wearing the BT headset, and it would automatically put the conversation on the phone.
This doesn't.
Also, when I receive a call, I don't get the ringtones I have selected for specific callers, just a generic beep.
Morgan
That issue is actually unrelated. The issue that arnie_ahu has is trying to do something differently than the phone design. However, your issue is a real issue. Dialing on the phone and pressing call should send the call to the headset if it is connected properly. The ony conclusion I can think of is that it is not connected properly as a headset.
In my experience, this is Bluetooth device specific. When I use my Jawbone, I can answer on the phone and the conversation will be on the Jawbone. However, if I use a Plantronics 320 and answer on the phone, the conversation will be on the phone.
The reason why I answer using the phone instead of using the Bluetooth headset is out of courtesy to the caller. For some reason, when I answer with a Bluetooth device, the caller hears a very loud sound that is reminiscent of a fog horn. I have experienced this with multiple phones and headsets. I am guessing this is related to the Bluetooth handshake.
edited: spelling correction.
It may be (for me) because I am using mp3 ringtones on a mono earpiece.
From what I have found on line, that won't work with WM5, which sucks, because it worked on my old piece of crap nokia 6230.
Why oh why must this be so hard?
Now I have to try and convert the mp3 ringtones I made from full songs to something the phone will use.

bluetooth hands free question

love this phone but don't know if i have a problem or i'm just using it wrong and i'm an idiot,
i use an o2 blue hands free bluetooth and when i get an incoming call it rings nicely in my ear and i press button on the o2 blue and answer the call and it all works beautifully.
however if i'm making the call, i dial the number on the phone press green phone button and the bluetooth doesn't kick in the call stays on the phone.
(you don't press anything on the bluetooth as it don't work that way)
is this a bug or is there a specific way to make a call on the handset so the bluetooth kicks in??
(apologises in advance if i'm missing the blindingly obvious)
Hi, Scottydog -- I've been using the P6500 with a Bluetooth headset (Plantronics Voyager 815) without any problems. Though to the extent that things don't work properly, I have the opposite problem: when I _make_ calls with the headset connected, all is fine; but when I _receive_ them, calls initially go to the handset and I then have to choose "Turn Hands-free On" from the right soft-key menu to get the call on my headset.
Have you tried doing this after you dial calls?
Wish I had something better to suggest!
Alan

HD2 Tmobile USA will pay 100.00 for Voicecommand announce through bluetooth

I have tried to get Microsoft VoiceCommand to announce incoming calls through bluetooth but have had no success. I will be happy to pay anyone 100.00 who can come up with a solution. Will pay by paypal once confirmed working.
You can keep your money, but I can try to help. Did you already go into the Voice Command settings and select "announce notifications using bluetooth hands free only" or there is another option that says"announce notifications using bluetooth hands free if available"
BT headset sencitivity to Voice Command
I've found over the years that the reading incoming voicemail via Voice command can often depend on the BT headset you have. I went thru several different models until I found a family that seems to work very well. At the moment I have a TMOUS Hd2 and I'm using a Motorola 710 bt headset. It works just about every time.
Previously I had a HTC TYTN II with a Motorola 700 and then the 710 and these both worked with the purchased copy of Voice command 1.6 (don't recall the release but it was pretty current via upload)
Try going to a store that carries the 710 that offers a return policy, give it a try.
Tried these suggestions no luck
MirasHD2 I tried the settings for both announcing incoming calls and unchecked only during free time.
AndyClay I have a Motorola 710 headset no good. My problem is with incoming caller ID announce. I have tired a Jabra, Motorola 710 and Jawbone Prime all with no luck. Can get them to announce messages but no caller ID through bluetooth.
Thank you both for your suggestions.
You mean on BT "Call from 999-999-9999"? Yeah, if you find a answer let me know. Anything that initiates from the phone won't goto the headset. But anything I tell it from the headset will come back to the headset.
So incoming calls and appointment notifications won't work on my headset. But everything else seems to work.
I have the Blue Ant Q1 and it announces the incoming caller's phone number and handles voice commands very well. I just can't seem to get ringtones to play through the headset. NOTE: Blue Ant has a newer model coming called T1 that is supposed to announce calls by name. But I cannot confirm this.
The Q1 does it for me so far but I REALLY would like to have ringtones/ringerIDs to play through the headset.......
I have a motorola T505 in car speaker and it works great, plus I can also listen to slacker through my car sterio with this unit. New Egg sells them for about $60
It will announce appointments
Starstreak, I have got it to announce my appointments. This is what I did. Enable the settings in the VoiceCommand app to announce appointments and uncheck only during free time. Then go to settings, on the bottom of the device it will say menu, click on menu then all settings this opens several selection icons. select bluetooth go into settings which is the gears on the top left, choose advanced then audio, check box to play system sounds on remote handsfree device. I have my device set to announce appointments 15 minutes before the time. when this happens a tone alert starts, this opens the audio channel to my bluetooth headset, I hear a little of the tone then I hear the voice announcement telling me what the appointment is. Doing this will also send system sounds to the headset but I don't mind that too much.
It palys music
Jdwme, I can play music through the headset also. It is caller ID announce I can't get working. Does your Motorola announce the incoming callers name or number. None of the devices I have tried will announce caller ID at all only through the phone speaker no bluetooth.

waiting for the new Blueant
I looked up the Blueant and I am waiting for the new model which will announce the name of the caller. I was hoping someone would know of or figure out a registry hack or mod to get this to work on a regular bluetooth headset. Thanks for the tip on the Blueant

No problem Polera. According to Blue Ant, the T1 is due out in May 2010 and should be $79-$99. I will probably get one too.
I thought I tried that one... I'll try that again.

It's not the HD2, It's a bug with MSVC when being used with WM versions past 6.1. I too have been looking for a fix for several days. I also had the Treo Pro where the Announce Incoming Caller worked with the same BT that I am using now.
I supposed now that MS is on to WM7, they could care less if they fix this or not.
That's why I posted here
MadLinx, That is why I posted the offer for someone here to maybe look into a registry hack or modification to get the caller Id over bluetooth working.. I have managed to get all the other voice functions operating.....still hoping someone here can help.
mine works just fine, i'm using a moto h710 and plantronics 975. go to bluetooth settings, advanced, audio, and make sure "play system sounds on remote hands-free device is checked. then go to voice command, make sure it's enabled. then highlight phone, hit options. check all the boxes, including announce incoming calls and select annouce notifications using bluetooth if available. if you guys need more help, just holler .
Ok checked the box to move all audio to headset. Well, now I seem to get mostly everything but stuff that the unit initiates(sp) itself. Like the incoming caller ID/name if it's my address book. But so far it works the best.
MS should just pay someone to FIX this program. Hell, if it worked like how it's supposed to, I'll pay$29.95 for an app like this.

thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't change anything on my end. the announce works, but it still announces through the phone loud speaker.
Yesterday, I upgraded from a Dash (non-3G) to the HD2. On my Dash, I had performed the registry hack to enable the voice command messaging/caller ID announcements over the handsfree bluetooth, and had no problems. Now using the same Plantronics Voyager Pro headset with the HD2, I am receiving calendar and messaging notifications, but I too am not getting the caller ID announcements on the headset. The incoming call information that should be heard on the headset is played through the handset speaker which should be muted. However, I have no problem placing calls using the headset with voice command. So, if a problem exists with the bluetooth stack, I am not sure why it would work sometimes and other times not. I too have verified all of the settings mentioned in this thread to remedy the situation with no success. I have factory reset the HD2 and reconfigured everything, again without success. I am not sure where to go next.
http://pocketnow.com/how-to/how-to-disable-htc-messaging-on-the-hd2
Can someone try this? He claims "One of the great things about HTC Sense on the HTC HD2 is that it's such a heavy redesign of Windows Mobile. Unfortunately, this can cause problems with some other applications. For me, HTC's text messaging application replacement disabled Microsoft Voice Command's ability to read my incoming text messages to me over a Bluetooth headset."
So I'm wondering if doing what he claims will allow the caller ID to be sent to BT? I would try this, but can't at the moment.
